SO THIS IS A SLIDE SHOW THAT WILL KIND OF GO THROUGH WHAT OUR IDEAS ARE, WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU GUYS, HOW IT'S GOING TO WORK, AND OVERALL, JUST ANYTHING THAT WE WANTED TO ADAPT TO.

IT'S A PLACE FOR THEM TO FEEL MORE COMFORTABLE AND GIVE US THEIR IDEAS AND THEIR PROJECTS AND WHAT LIKE THE CHANGES THEY WANT WITHOUT HAVING TO LIKE, YOU KNOW, COME AND DO ALL THIS BECAUSE THEY, THEY MIGHT NOT NECESSARILY WANT TO DO THAT.
SO THIS IS KIND OF LIKE THEIR SAFE SPACE TO GIVE US ALL THEIR IDEAS.
AND THEN WE TAKE THEIR IDEAS OR PROJECTS AND WE BRING IT TO YOU GUYS.
YEAH, AS TOBY SAID, IT CAN BE NERVE WRACKING TALKING TO A BUNCH OF PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY A LOT OF ADULTS ON A PANEL AND THEN HAVING CITIZENS BE BEHIND YOU, KIND OF HEARING WRITING NOTES, YOU GET A LITTLE NERVOUS. SO THIS IS JUST A GOOD WAY TO HAVE ALL STUDENTS FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH EACH OTHER, MEET NEW PEOPLE, AND JUST TALK ABOUT DIFFERENT THINGS THAT ARE GOING ON IN THEIR SCHOOLS AND WHAT THEY WANT TO CHANGE, AS WELL AS BRING IDEAS OF HOW THEY CAN DO THAT TO CHANGE.
OKAY, SO THIS IS KIND OF LIKE A ROUGH IDEA OF WHAT DAYS WE WOULD MEET AND LIKE WHAT DAYS THE REPS WOULD MEET TO PLAN THE S-VAC MEETINGS. SO FOR EXAMPLE, IN MARCH, BOARD MEETINGS ARE THE NINTH AND 23RD.
STUDENT REPS WOULD MEET BEFORE, TWICE A MONTH BEFORE THE MEETINGS TO CREATE TALKING POINTS AND ASK TIME, AND ASKED BOARD MEMBERS FOR SOME INPUT. AND THEN THOSE, FOR EXAMPLE, THOSE MEETINGS WITH THE BOARD REPS WOULD BE THE 10TH AND 24TH. AND THEN THE S-VAC MEETINGS WOULD BE THE 16TH AND 30TH.
SO THIS IS JUST A LITTLE EXAMPLE. OKAY. YEAH, SO THIS IS KIND OF JUST LIKE THE BENEFITS, RIGHT? I MEAN, IT'S OBVIOUS THAT LIKE OUR WHOLE GOAL HERE IS FOR MORE STUDENT INPUT, RIGHT? SO THAT'S, THAT'S ESSENTIALLY THE ENTIRE COMMITTEE IS JUST GETTING INPUT AND IT'S GETTING INPUT ACROSS A WIDER VARIETY, RIGHT? BECAUSE I MEAN, WE ALREADY GO TO THE SCHOOLS, BUT NOW WE WANT THE KIDS THAT WANT TO TALK TO US.
IT'S GIVING THEM MORE OF A CHANCE. AND THEN YEAH, WE CAN JUST LEARN FROM EACH OTHER.
AND IT'S JUST, IT'S JUST A PLACE FOR US TO REALLY LIKE, SHARE MORE IDEAS AND GET MORE IN TOUCH AND LIKE REALLY CONNECT TO THE STUDENTS IN LIKE, IN A MORE PERSONAL WAY BECAUSE THIS TIME THEY'RE COMING TO US. SO THEY'RE GOING TO HAVE A LOT TO SAY.
AND THEN, YEAH, THAT'S KIND OF JUST OUR GOAL WITH THIS AND THE BENEFITS.

AND THEN USUALLY EVEN WHEN ME AND TOBY GO TO OUR BOARD, LIKE REP TOURS, WE'RE MEETING WITH LIKE HIGH SCHOOLERS, MIDDLE SCHOOLERS, BUT WE WANT TO GIVE THE OPPORTUNITIES FOR HIGH SCHOOL AND MIDDLE SCHOOLERS TO COLLABORATE AND WORK TOGETHER AND BRING PROPOSED IDEAS TO THE BOARD OF WHAT THEY WANT TO SEE WHEN THEY REACH HIGH SCHOOL, OR HIGH SCHOOLERS SAYING WHAT THEY WISH THEY HAD IN MIDDLE SCHOOL TO HAVE A BETTER MEMORIES OF WHAT HAPPENED IN HIGH SCHOOL AND MIDDLE SCHOOL.
BUT ALSO THIS WOULD HELP THE STUDENT REPS KIND OF PLAN WHAT THEY WANT TO SAY.
SO US HAVING BETTER PREPARATION OF HEARING FROM EVERY SINGLE STUDENT AND KIND OF IMPLEMENTING THAT INTO OUR STUDENT VOICE WHEN STUDENTS CAN'T COME OR WHEN CERTAIN SCHOOLS AREN'T COMING TO MAKE A PRESENTATION, THAT WE HAVE THOSE KIDS WHO ARE GOING TO THE S-VAC MEETINGS AND GIVING US TALKING POINTS TO BRING TO THE BOARD IF THEY'RE NOT WILLING TO.
SAME PREMISE HERE, IT'S JUST LIKE MORE IN DEPTH OF LIKE WHAT ACTUALLY CHANGES, RIGHT? BECAUSE YEAH, WE'RE GOING TO HAVE MORE STUFF TO TALK ABOUT BECAUSE WE'RE GETTING IT FROM LIKE THE ACTUAL STUDENTS THEMSELVES.

THERE'S A LOT OF STUDENTS WHO HAVE CERTAIN OPINIONS ON THAT, AND JUST GIVING THE OPPORTUNITY FOR THEM TO TALK AND CREATE THESE LARGER PROJECTS, THESE PRESENTATIONS TO COME UP TO THE BOARD, GIVE THEIR EXAMPLES, GIVE THEIR EVEN SHOW PHOTOS OF EXAMPLES OF WHAT KIDS LIKE AT SCHOOL.
AND THEN POSSIBLE COLLABORATIONS WITH THE BOARD AND COMMITTEE MEMBERS.
SO WE ALSO DIDN'T JUST WANT THE OPPORTUNITY FOR WE WANTED TO GIVE THE STUDENTS THE OPPORTUNITY TO COME AND TALK TO US, BUT ALSO, AGAIN, COLLABORATE. THAT'S WHAT WE'RE THAT'S WHAT OUR GOAL IS COLLABORATION, COMMUNICATION, AND JUST OVERALL, JUST THAT SEE EYE TO EYE AND JUST BEING ABLE TO SEE BOTH SIDES OF THE STORY BECAUSE THAT'S SOMETIMES WHAT WE STRUGGLE WITH IS STUDENTS SEEING OUR SIDE OF THE BOARD OF WHAT WE CAN AND CAN'T DO, AND WHAT OUR POWER IS COMPARED TO THE CITY OR TO THE STATE.
AND ALSO YOU GUYS SEEING WHAT STUDENTS REALLY NEED AND WHY IT'S SO IMPORTANT INSTEAD OF JUST HEARING THEY NEED DRAMA, SEEING WHAT HAS HAVE THEY DONE IN DRAMA TO MAKE SUCH AN IMPACT IN OUR SCHOOLS.
SO HAVING THE BOARD GIVE US QUESTIONS THAT THEY WANT THE STUDENTS TO ANSWER, BECAUSE MAYBE THEY'LL FEEL MORE COMFORTABLE JUST TALKING TO STUDENTS INSTEAD OF TALKING TO ADULTS, BECAUSE IT MIGHT BE A LITTLE NERVE WRACKING. COLLABORATE WITH CAC AND HAVING COMMUNITY MEMBERS SPEAK WITH STUDENTS WITH THE CONSENT OF STUDENTS WILLING TO DO SO.
SO HAVING COMMUNITY MEMBERS COME TO THE S-VAC MEETINGS, COLLABORATING, ASKING QUESTIONS TO EACH OTHER, MAKING SURE EVERYBODY IS AGREED ON TO DO THAT, BUT JUST GIVING THE OPPORTUNITY FOR COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO SEE EYE TO EYE WITH STUDENTS AS WELL. SO JUST CREATING THAT COLLABORATION WITH ALL THREE GROUPS THAT WE HAVE.
HAVING GUESTS AT A MEETING FOR STUDENTS TO ASK QUESTIONS TOO.
SO HAVING LIKE OUR SUPERINTENDENT, SOME OF OUR BOARD MEMBERS SHOW UP AND GIVE THAT OPPORTUNITY FOR STUDENTS TO ASK YOU GUYS QUESTIONS AND SEE WHAT YOU GUYS ARE DOING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN OUR SCHOOLS. AND THEN HAVE STUDENTS SPEAK AT MEETINGS.
YES, OUR GOAL IS TO HAVE STUDENTS FEEL COMFORTABLE ENOUGH TO COME TO THE BOARD MEETINGS.
JUST GIVING THEM THAT EXTRA PUSH TO KIND OF FEEL CONFIDENT AND HELP THEM EVEN HAVE THE STUDENT BOARD REPS HELP THOSE STUDENTS MAKE A PRESENTATION, HELP THEM FEEL CONFIDENT TO DO SO, AND TO SPEAK, BECAUSE IT'S ALWAYS THAT CERTAIN PERSON THAT CAN PUSH ANOTHER STUDENT, IF THEY'RE HEARING IT FROM ANOTHER STUDENT, TO COME AND TALK TO US AND KNOW THAT THEY SHOULD FEEL COMFORTABLE BECAUSE WE ARE ALWAYS HERE AND THE FUTURE REPS WILL ALWAYS BE HERE. ALL OF THIS DOESN'T WORK IF WE DON'T HAVE ANY STUDENTS, RIGHT? SO WE GOT TO WE GOT TO GET THE STUDENTS TO COME IN SOMEHOW. AND LIKE I THE EASIEST WAY IS TO JUST TELL THAT TO THE ADMIN OF LIKE ALL THE SCHOOLS.
SO WE'LL LIKE MAKE VIDEOS OR EMAILS OR ANNOUNCEMENTS AND THEN WE'LL PUSH THAT TO THE ADMINS WHO WILL THEN PUSH IT OUT TO THE SCHOOLS AND THE STUDENTS IN HOPES THAT THEY COME TO US.
