YEAH, WE ARE EXCITED TO BE HERE. AND A LITTLE NERVOUS.

WE HAVE BEEN LEARNING IN FOURTH GRADE. ABOUT.

WE'RE IN MODULE TWO. SO WE'RE LEARNING ABOUT EXTREME SETTINGS.

AND HOW A MOUNTAIN IS AN EXTREME SETTING AND HOW AN EXTREME SETTING CAN HAVE AN IMPACT ON A CHARACTER IN A STORY.

AND SO THEY HAVE DONE A LOT OF RESEARCH AND DONE AN INCREDIBLE JOB OF RESEARCHING A CERTAIN MOUNTAIN RANGE THAT THEY CHOSE.

AND SO WE'RE TALKING ABOUT HOW TO SURVIVE IN AN EXTREME SETTING.

SO THEY MADE HIKER BROCHURES. AND FIRST UP IS HUDSON STOLTZE.

HE'S GOING TO SHARE? HI. MY NAME IS HUDSON AND I MADE A BROCHURE FOR THE HIMALAYAS.

[00:05:03]

AND I WANT TO SHARE THREE THINGS. NUMBER ONE, WHEN HIKING, YOU SHOULD BRING LADDERS, ROPES, ICE PICKS, FOOD, WATER, WARM CLOTHES. AND IF YOU PLAN ON CLIMBING TO THE SUMMIT, AN OXYGEN TANK.

I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THIS PRESENTATION AS MUCH AS I HAD MAKING IT.

THANKS FOR LISTENING. VERY INTERESTING. NICE JOB.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU. HI, I'M PENELOPE PUDDY.

I'M IN FOURTH GRADE IN MRS. NOYE'S HOMEROOM. I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE THREE FACTS ABOUT THE APPALACHIANS.

THE APPALACHIANS ELEVATION IS 6684FT. IF YOU GET BITTEN BY A TICK, YOU CAN HAVE LIFE THREATENING DISEASES.

LOOK AT YOUR MAP FIRST SO YOU KNOW YOUR ROUTE.

COOL. THANK YOU. HELLO, I AM RYLIE LINDQUIST.

I'M IN THE FOURTH GRADE AND MRS. NOY'S HOMEROOM CLASS AT CAM ACADEMY.

I RESEARCHED THE GREAT SMOKIES MOUNTAIN RANGE.

FIRST FACT I'LL BE SHARING IS THAT THERE IS 1500 BEARS THAT CALL THE GREAT SMOKIES HOME.

DID YOU KNOW THAT THE TALLEST PEAK IS THE CLINGMAN'S DOME? AT 6643FT? IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON VISITING THE GREAT SMOKIES, DON'T RIDE A MOTORCYCLE IF YOU HAVEN'T, BECAUSE THERE HAVE BEEN ONE 313 CRASHES AND 36 DEATHS.

YIKES. JUST IN MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENTS ALONE? TO BE EXACT.

I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE FACTS THAT I SHARED. THANK YOU FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY.

NICE JOB. THANK YOU. HI, I'M SCARLETT YOUNG IN FOURTH GRADE, I GO TO CAM ACADEMY AND I'M IN MRS. NOYE'S HOMEROOM. I RESEARCHED THE ALPS. THE FIRST FACT I WILL SHARE IS THAT THEY ARE IN EUROPE.

THEY ARE IN FRANCE, MONACO, ITALY, SWITZERLAND, LIECHTENSTEIN, AUSTRIA, GERMANY AND SLOVENIA.

THE MATTERHORN, WHICH IS IN SWITZERLAND, IS ONE OF THE MOST DEADLY PEAKS BECAUSE OVER 500 ALPINISTS HAVE DIED ON IT.

THE HIGHEST PEAK IN THE ALPS IS MONT BLANC, WHICH IS 15,777FT.

I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THREE FACTS ON THE EXTREME ALPS.

THEY ARE AWESOME! THANKS FOR LETTING ME SHARE. BYE. THANK YOU GUYS FOR SHARING.

REALLY APPRECIATE THAT. THANK YOU. REALLY VERY INTERESTING.

THANK YOU GUYS. THANK YOU. AND IF OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS ARE GOING TO COME UP NOW.

MR. ZAHN AND MRS. BORGES AND WE HAVE FOUR STUDENTS THAT RECENTLY WENT TO OUTDOOR SCHOOL.

CAMP DUDLEY. AND I THINK THERE'S A LITTLE SLIDESHOW THAT THEY HAVE UP THERE, AND THEY'RE GOING TO COME UP.

AND MAYBE YOU WANT TO GIVE A QUICK OVERVIEW ABOUT IT AND THEN THEY'LL TALK.

GOOD EVENING. GOOD EVENING. SO MY NAME IS BRAD ZAHN.

I WORK AT CAMP. AND THIS LAST OCTOBER WE HAD A BRAND NEW EXPERIENCE, WHICH WE HOPE BECOMES A TRADITION.

WE TOOK THE KIDS TO OUTDOOR SCHOOL, AND IT WAS A GREAT WAY FOR US ALL TO GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER.

BUT I'LL LET THE KIDS TELL YOU EXACTLY WHAT THEY LIKED AND WHAT THEY DID ABOUT IT, AND THEY'LL INTRODUCE THEMSELVES AT THE END.

OKAY, SO AT THIS TIME, YOU KNOW IT THIS WAY. ACTIVITIES.

BOW AND ARROW. WE TRIED TO HIT TARGETS EFFICIENTLY.

PREDATOR AND PREY. WE RAN AROUND THE CAMP. SUPERVISED AND LEARNED ABOUT THE LIFE CYCLE OF ANIMALS.

TREE TREKKERS. WE CHOSE A TREE AND EXPLAINED ABOUT IT TO A CLASSMATE.

NIGHT SKIES WHERE WE WENT OUT AND WE GOT TO SEE A WHOLE BUNCH OF NEW STARS, LIKE THE MILKY WAY AND ROCK CLIMBING AND ROCK WALL CLIMBING.

AND WE DID A LOT MORE. NICE JOB. THE THEME OF OUR EXPERIENCE, THE OVERALL THEME OF OUR LEARNING EXPERIENCE WAS SCIENCE.

WE WHERE WE LEARNED HOW TO TELL WHAT IS EDIBLE AND WHAT IS NOT.

ALSO HOW TO HELP OUR ENVIRONMENT AND THE MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL, TEAMWORK.

THIS WAS FUN. LEARNING BY YOURSELF. LEARNING WITH FRIENDS, ENGAGING AND HANDS ON.

NICE JOB. THANK YOU. WILL YOU GET TO GO AGAIN? THE FOOD WAS REALLY GOOD. FOOD OPTIONS COVERED.

EVERYBODY'S NEEDS. SALAD BAR AND HEALTHY FOOD.

[00:10:01]

LUNCH WAS FUN WITH A LEARNING EXPERIENCE ABOUT TRIVIA.

LIKE ABOUT NATURE. THE CHEF WAS REALLY NICE. YOUR CHOICE WHERE YOU SIT AND FAMILY STYLE.

NICE JOB. FREE TIME. EACH GROUP, BOY AND GIRL CABINS HAD THEIR OWN FREE TIME 2 OR 3 TIMES A DAY. DURING FREE TIME, WE GOT TO DO WHATEVER ACTIVITIES WE WANTED TO, SUCH AS HIKING, PLAYING GAMES OUTSIDE, OR JUST CHILLING IN YOUR CABIN.

YOU ALSO HAD THE OPTION TO BRING YOUR OWN FISHING RODS AND GO FISHING.

RULES WE HAD, WE HAD TO STAY WITH AT LEAST ONE ADULT AND TWO BUDDIES.

NO GOING OFF CAMPUS, FOR EXAMPLE, PAST THE FENCE TO THE CARS.

NO ELECTRONICS IN THE CAMP. NO GOING IN THE WATER.

NICE JOB. ACCESS WE HAD WE OBVIOUSLY HAD ACCESS TO THE BATHROOMS, AND WE COULD TAKE A SHOWER ANYTIME DURING FREE TIME OR BEFORE BED. OUR BEDTIME WAS 9:30 OR HOWEVER LONG IT TOOK US TO GET READY.

WE COULD ALSO GO TO THE LUNCHROOM AT WHATEVER TIME, AS LONG AS IT'S IN BETWEEN THE TIME IT STARTS AND IT CLOSES.

WHAT WE RECEIVED. WE RECEIVED A WORKBOOK WHERE EVERY ACTIVITY WE DID IT WOULD ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT THE GAME OR ACTIVITY.

IT ALSO HAD A BIG SCAVENGER HUNT. WE ALSO DID A SKIT WHERE WE ACTED OUT CHARACTERS AND WROTE DOWN THE INFORMATION YOU LEARNED.

WE DREW LOTS OF PICTURES OF PLANTS, INSECTS, AND ANIMALS.

IT WAS VERY FUN TO FUN TO LEARN ABOUT THEM. NICE JOB.

NICE. THE END. OVERALL, WE REALLY ENJOYED THIS WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE.

WE ALL WERE VERY EXCITED TO GO FOR THE FIRST TIME, AND WE LIKED HANGING OUT WITH OUR FRIENDS AND HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELORS.

THANK YOU FOR GIVING US THIS OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE THIS PRESENTATION WITH YOU.

BYE. CAMILA CAMPOS. MADELEINE GÉRARD, ADELEINE WILSON, AND MELINA LASKA.

OUTSTANDING. VERY NICE. NICE JOB. WHEN DID YOU GUYS.

WHEN DID YOU GUYS DO THIS? OCTOBER. OCTOBER. AND? AND I ASSUME THE STUDENTS MADE THE. THE PRESENTATION.

THE SLIDESHOW. WHERE IS CAMP DUDLEY? YEAH, IT'S JUST A LITTLE FURTHER EAST THAN CISPUS.

OKAY. TOWARDS YAKIMA. AND YOU HAD HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELORS OR JUST.

REAL QUICK? I GOTTA SAY, WE DID THIS LAST MINUTE.

THEY HAD AN OPENING, THEY WERE BOOKED, AND I DIDN'T KNOW UNTIL SEPTEMBER THAT A SCHOOL HAD DROPPED.

AND I THOUGHT, WELL, I DON'T KNOW IF I CAN GET THAT TOGETHER IN A MONTH, BUT WE'RE AT CAMP AND WE HAD GREAT PARENT SUPPORT AND OUR COUNSELORS JUMPED IN, OUR NURSE. WE GOT IT ALL DONE WITHIN A MONTH.

AND WOW, OUTSTANDING. IT'S OUTSTANDING. THANK YOU.

THANK YOU GUYS. VERY NICE. AND WE ALSO HAD THE SUPPORT OF OUR DISTRICT BECAUSE WITHOUT THE DISTRICT SUPPORT THAT WOULD BE HARD TO DO.

SO THANK YOU VERY MUCH. ALSO ON THAT END, OUR LAST FOLKS TO COME UP FOR STUDENT VOICE, WE HAVE ELSA VICE, OUR ASB PRESIDENT, AND HELEN SNITILY, OUR NHS PRESIDENT.

HELLO, I'M HELEN SNITILY, I'M THE PRESIDENT OF NHS AT CAM ACADEMY, AND I'M JUST HERE TO REPORT SOME FUN THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN GOING ON THIS YEAR.

IT'S BEEN A PRETTY GOOD YEAR. WE'VE HAD A LOT OF INVOLVEMENT. THIS YEAR WE DECIDED TO INCLUDE SOPHOMORES IN OUR NHS.

USUALLY IT HAS JUST BEEN JUNIORS AND SENIORS IN THE PAST, BUT WE HAD A LOT OF INTEREST FROM OUR SOPHOMORES WHO HAD GPAS OF OVER 3.5.

AND SO WE HAVE 22 MEMBERS. WE HAVE MEETINGS EVERY OTHER WEEK, WHICH IS REALLY FUN.

AND THIS YEAR SO FAR, WE ORGANIZED OUR FIRST OF THREE BLOOD DRIVES THAT HAPPENED.

WE HAVE TWO MORE COMING UP AND WE HIT A MINIMUM OF 30 DONATIONS.

AND SO WE WERE AWARDED A $500 SCHOLARSHIP FROM THE RED CROSS THAT WILL BE GIVEN OUT TO A SENIOR AT THE END OF THIS YEAR.

WE ALSO ORGANIZED OUR SECOND GIVING TREE. THE FIRST ONE WAS LAST YEAR, AND IT WENT WELL.

WE BLESSED THREE FAMILIES LAST YEAR, BUT THIS YEAR WE WERE ABLE TO UP IT TO FIVE FAMILIES.

AND WE PROVIDED GIFTS BOTH NEEDS AND WANTS TO ALL OF THEM, WHICH WAS REALLY NICE.

WE'RE ALSO PLANNING A FEW MORE OTHER FUN THINGS, LIKE AN ENGLISH COUNTRY DANCE.

SO THAT WILL BE A FUN THING FOR OUR STUDENTS. BUT.

YEAH. PASS IT TO ELSA. I'M ELSA BICE, THE PRESIDENT OF HIGH SCHOOL ASB.

AND SO FAR, WE STARTED THE YEAR OFF WITH A GREAT ALL HIGH SCHOOL FIELD TRIP TO SEASIDE.

AND IN THAT WE DID THIS FUN SPIRIT POINT COMPETITION WHERE WE HAVE A SCAVENGER HUNT CONTEST AND A SANDCASTLE BUILDING CONTEST.

SO EVERY YEAR WE DO THAT AND IT REALLY KICKS OFF THE YEAR WITH A GREAT START TO SCHOOL SPIRIT.

WE'VE HAD THE MOST SCHOOL SPIRIT THIS YEAR EVER SINCE I THINK 2020.

[00:15:04]

IT'S JUST GREAT. SO WE HAVE SPIRIT DAYS JUST ASSEMBLIES AND OTHER EVENTS TO INCORPORATE INTO OUR DAILY ROUTINE.

BUT WE'VE ALSO BEEN PLANNING WINTER FORMAL, THAT IS, THIS SATURDAY AT THE OLD CEDARS GOLF COURSE, WHICH IS NOT A GOLF COURSE ANYMORE OVER IN BRUSH PRAIRIE.

AND WE ARE PLANNING A TOP GOLF FIELD TRIP AND A BLAZERS FIELD TRIP AND OF COURSE, PROM.

BUT THAT'S THAT'S COMING LATER. WE ALSO HAVE A COUPLE TREATS TO SHARE WITH YOU GUYS SINCE IT IS SCHOOL BOARD APPRECIATION WEEK, I BELIEVE SO. THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT YOU DO FOR US.

AND WE INCLUDED A LITTLE FUN FACT ABOUT CAM ACADEMY ON EACH OF THESE TREATS.

SO THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH. THANK YOU. YEAH I KNOW.

YES. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. YES. NO. THANK YOU SO MUCH RIGHT NOW.

DOES THE BOARD HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? YEAH. HEY, HELEN, BEFORE YOU LEAVE, I NEED YOU TO EXPLAIN TO ME ENGLISH.

COUNTRY DANCE. WHAT IS THAT? WHAT'S THAT ALL ABOUT? OKAY. YEAH. SO IT'S NOT COUNTRY DANCING LIKE COWBOYS IN TEXAS.

IT'S ENGLAND AND OLD ENGLISH COUNTRY DANCING.

BUT THERE'S THIS WOMAN. HER NAME IS AMY BROWN, AND SHE CALLS THESE DANCES.

SO BASICALLY YOU GET ALL THE HIGH SCHOOLERS TOGETHER, AND SHE DOES THIS IN CLARK COUNTY ONCE A MONTH.

SHE USUALLY HAS A DANCE, AND SHE CALLS THE DANCES.

SO SHE BASICALLY TEACHES THEM. AND THEN ALL THE KIDS DO THE DANCE, AND IT'S REALLY FUN.

AND SHE KIND OF DOES CROWD CONTROL AND HELPS BECAUSE NOT EVERYONE IS A NATURAL DANCER.

YEAH. OUTSTANDING. VERY COOL. THANK YOU. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

THANK YOU SO MUCH. THAT'S IT. THANK YOU CAM. AND NOW WE HAVE RIVER HOMELINK. WE HAVE SEVERAL STUDENTS FROM RIVER HOMELINK.

ARE YOU IN CHARGE OF THIS, JULIA? NO, ACTUALLY I'M NOT.

THIS IS THE OTHER ASB. THIS IS THE COOLER ASB.

OH, THIS IS THE OTHER ASB. THEY'RE IN CHARGE OF ME.

THIS. OH, AGAIN. PARENTS, FEEL FREE TO COME UP IF YOU WANT TO GET SOME PICTURES.

IS IT ON? OKAY. SO THIS IS OUR YOUNGER GRADES THREE THROUGH SIX LEADERSHIP CLASS, LEARNING HOW TO BE ASB STUDENTS.

SO WE'RE GOING TO ONLY FIVE OF THEM ARE SPEAKING, BUT THEY ALL WANTED TO COME UP BECAUSE THEY ALL HELPED WITH THE PRESENTATION.

WE'RE GOING TO DO AWESOME. COME ON UP. AWESOME.

YES WE ARE. SO WHO IS THE SECOND PLACE? YEAH.

COME ALL THE WAY UP. YOU GUYS AROUND HERE ON THIS SIDE? YOU. ARE YOU STANDING RIGHT HERE? OKAY, YOU GO AHEAD AND STAY UP THERE, AND THEN YOU GUYS, YOU GUYS CAN COME BEHIND THE BACK HERE AND GET WHATEVER PICTURES YOU NEED.

THIS IS THE PRIMARY SCHOOL. HEY, I THINK WE ARE READY.

SO THEY CREATED THESE SLIDES PRACTICING COMMUNICATION SKILLS AS LEADERS NEED TO HAVE.

AND THE SLIDES WERE SO GREAT THAT WE COMPILED THEM ALL TOGETHER TO PRESENT TO YOU TODAY.

ALRIGHT, SO THE NEXT SLIDE PLEASE. STUDENTS, WE LOOK BECAUSE EVERYBODY IS THOUGHTFUL AND NICE.

THE CREATIVITY IS UNLIMITED AND THAT MAKES EVERYBODY HAPPY.

YOU HAVE TO BE RESPONSIBLE AND RESPECTFUL. ASB SOME OF OUR STUDENTS ARE IN ASB.

THEY ARE THE HEART AND SOUL OF OUR SCHOOL. THEY USED TO HAVE THEIR SCHEDULE TO PLAN ALL THESE FUN THINGS AND TRY TO PLAN FUN THINGS FOR THE STUDENTS AND FOR THEMSELVES.

THEY INCLUDE EVERYONE. NICE JOB. NICE JOB. THANK YOU.

SO MANY TEACHERS. OH, TEACHERS. ALL OF THE TEACHERS ARE KIND TO ALL OF US.

ALL OF THE STUDENTS. THEY BUILD UP THE STUDENTS, WHICH MAKES RIVER HOMELINK AMAZING.

WE HAVE MANY TALENTED AND AWARD WINNING TEACHERS AT OUR SCHOOL.

THE TEACHERS ARE VERY NICE, HARDWORKING AND MAKE SURE WE GET THE BEST EDUCATION EXPERIENCE.

THE TEACHERS BRING HAPPINESS AND LOVE TO THE STUDENTS.

THE TEACHERS ARE WELL TRAINED AND KNOW WHAT TO DO IN ALL CASES, THE TEACHERS PUT A LOT OF EFFORT INTO CLASS AND WE ARE SO GRATEFUL FOR ALL THE TIME AND EFFORT THEY PUT INTO THEM. THEY ARE ALWAYS PATIENT, KIND AND GENTLE.

NICE JOB. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

THE CLASSES OF RIVER HOMELINK. THE CLASSES HELP US LEARN SUBJECTS THAT CAN HELP US IN THE REAL WORLD.

THEY TEACH US THINGS THAT ARE REALLY HANDY. MATH HELPS YOU DO YOUR JOB AND PAY YOUR BILLS.

OUR CLASSES ARE FUN AND CHALLENGING. THEY HELP US DEVELOP DIFFERENT LIFE SKILLS.

THEATER HELPS US WITH CONTROLLING OUR EMOTIONS AND CONQUERING OUR STAGE FRIGHT, WHICH MAKES WE MAKE GREAT FRIENDS IN CLASS IN OUR CLASSES.

[00:20:09]

OUR TEACHERS GET AN A+. THE CLASSES AT OUR SCHOOL WILL MAKE SURE THAT YOUR STUDENTS HAVE FUN AND SUCCEED.

NICE JOB! FEELING SAFE. OUR SCHOOL. OUR SCHOOL IS A SAFE PLACE BECAUSE YOU'RE GETTING IF YOU'RE GETTING BULLIED OR ANY OTHER ISSUE, YOU ALWAYS HAVE PEOPLE TO RELY ON LIKE TEACHERS, FRIENDS, PARENTS, OR EVEN THE LUNCH LADY. THE SCHOOL WILL DO EVERYTHING IN THEIR POWER TO HELP THEIR STUDENTS MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY.

THE SPECIAL THING ABOUT OUR SCHOOL IS WE LET KIDS, KIDS, PARENTS COME TO MAKE THEM AS COMFORTABLE AS POSSIBLE.

NO BOYS. THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST PART ABOUT OUR SCHOOL.

THERE IS SIGNS SAYING DON'T BULLY AND THERE IS BARELY ANY NAME CALLING.

IT'S AWESOME. NICE JOB. EVENTS AT WRL.

THE PTO MAKES SURE THAT EVERYTHING AT THE SCHOOL IS NICE AND STEADY.

THEY KNOW HOW TO HELP THE STUDENTS AND BE AWESOME.

THE DANCES ARE BIG AND PLAY GREAT MUSIC AND THE FOOD IS AMAZING.

THE DECORATIONS ARE FUN AND YOU CAN DRESS AND YOU CAN DRESS UP REALLY FANCY.

OUTDOOR SCHOOL IS FUN BECAUSE THERE ARE LOTS OF GAMES.

THERE ARE FUN SONGS AND THEY HAVE A CAMPFIRE EVERY NIGHT.

THE WINTER GAMES ARE SO FUN. THEY BRING FRIENDSHIP AND LOVE EVERYWHERE THEY GO.

WE ARE GRATEFUL FOR THE PEOPLE WHO PUT A LOT OF TIME AND EFFORT INTO THESE EVENTS.

NICE JOB. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. GREAT QUESTIONS.

CAN YOU GUYS ALL, LIKE, SAY YOUR NAMES IF YOU WANT TO INTRODUCE YOURSELF TO US? THAT WOULD BE GREAT. I KNOW YOU LIKE JUST THE SPEAKERS OR THE I THINK I LIKE EVERYBODY.

IT JUST MAKES ME SMILE TO HEAR YOUR NAMES, YOUR STORIES, YOUR GRADES, ALL OF IT.

IT JUST. WOW. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THIS IS SO COOL.

AND I LOVE YOUR POSTERS. THE LINKS. THAT IS AWESOME.

THANKS FOR ALL YOU GUYS DO. YOU SAID A LOT OF NICE THINGS ABOUT EVERYBODY ELSE, BUT I JUST WANT TO SAY THANKS FOR ALL THAT YOU GUYS DO TO MAKE YOUR SCHOOL A GREAT PLACE TO BE. SO WE REALLY APPRECIATE IT. THANKS FOR JOINING US TONIGHT.

SURE. THANK YOU.

OH, YEAH. YEAH. I WAS GOING TO ASK IF. ARE THERE ANY OTHER STUDENTS OUT IN THE AUDIENCE THAT WERE HOPING TO SPEAK TONIGHT?

[00:25:04]

THERE'S ACTUALLY ANOTHER STUDENT. I FORGOT TO TELL YOU ABOUT THAT.

OKAY. YEAH, IT'S OUR HIGH SCHOOL REPRESENTATIVE, HOLLY.

I THINK SHE'S HERE. HOLLY. YES. SHE'S COMING.

THANK YOU. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO FOLLOW THAT, YOU GUYS? HEY. TOUGH ACT. OKAY. HI. I'M BACK. HELLO, EVERYONE.

MY NAME IS HOLLY HAAS, AND I AM RIVER HOMELINK'S ASB VICE PRESIDENT.

AND I'M HERE TO CATCH YOU UP ON EVERYTHING OUR ASB HAS BEEN UP TO SINCE YOU SAW ME THE LAST TIME.

WINTER GAMES WAS FROM DECEMBER 2ND TO 13TH, AND WAS INCREDIBLY SUCCESSFUL.

EVERYONE AT RIVER LOVES WINTER GAMES AND IT'S ALWAYS SUCH A FUN EXPERIENCE FOR EVERYONE INVOLVED.

WINTER FORMAL IS COMING UP THIS FRIDAY ON JANUARY 17TH.

THE THEME IS NUTCRACKER AND THE EVENT IS FOR GRADE SEVEN THROUGH 12, WHICH WAS ALWAYS AWESOME.

WINTER FORMAL IS A BELOVED EVENT AT RIVER HOMELINK AND IS OUR FIRST FORMAL DANCE OF THE YEAR.

WE ARE SO EXCITED TO SEE HOW IT GOES! MOVIE NIGHT IS HAPPENING FEBRUARY 7TH AND WE'LL BE SHOWING PIXAR'S CARS MOVIE AND WE ARE SO EXCITED! MOVIE NIGHTS ARE SUCH A FUN EVENT AND A GOOD WAY TO BRING COMMUNITY OUT TO RIVER HOMELINK, SINCE ALL GRADES ARE INVITED. BEFORE I CLOSE, I JUST WANT TO SAY ON BEHALF HOW PROUD WE ARE OF OUR THREE THROUGH SIXTH GRADE LEADERS AND EVERYTHING THEY ARE DOING, AND I'M SO GLAD YOUNGER STUDENTS ARE ABLE TO HAVE MORE OF A VOICE AT RIVER HOMELINK, AND I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE WHAT THESE AWESOME LEADERS DO NEXT.

THAT'S EVERYTHING I HAVE TO SAY FOR YOU, RIGHT? SAY RIGHT NOW.

THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR TIME AND ATTENTION.

DO I HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? AWESOME. THANK YOU. THANK YOU.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU. SO, JULIA EDSEL, WHAT CAN YOU ADD TO THAT? I FEEL LIKE THIS IS ABOUT TO BE KIND OF DISAPPOINTING, TO BE HONEST, BUT IT'S OKAY. IT'S OKAY GUYS.

OKAY, SO I'M NOT GOING TO REALLY TALK THAT MUCH ABOUT MY SCHOOL SINCE WE HAD ABOUT, LIKE, WE HAD LIKE 30 PEOPLE FROM MY SCHOOL. BUT RIVER HOMELINK HAD THEIR THEATER PRODUCTION OF SHREK AND THE FIRST TWO WEEKENDS OF DECEMBER. AND I MIGHT BE BIASED BECAUSE MY BEST FRIEND PLAYED PIANO.

I MUST ADMIT, BUT IT WAS SO GOOD. DEBBIE WAS THERE.

AND OF COURSE, SHE'S THE ONLY ONE WHO'S NOT HERE. BUT SHE WOULD VOUCH FOR ME. SHREK WAS SO GOOD.

AND SHAMELESS PLUG, PETER PAN IS COMING UP IN THE SPRING, AND YOU GUYS SHOULD ALL COME AND WATCH PETER PAN AT RIVER HOMELINK.

EVERYBODY CAN COME. WE NORMALLY PUT ON THE SHOWS AT PRAIRIE HIGH SCHOOL BECAUSE RIVER HOMELINK DOESN'T HAVE AN AUDITORIUM, BUT IT'S REALLY AWESOME. AND SPEAKING OF THEATER, I WENT TO BATTLE GROUND PRODUCTION OF CLUE, LIKE RIGHT AFTER THE LAST BOARD MEETING, AND IT WAS SO GOOD AND IT WAS SO FUNNY.

AND I HAD A GREAT TIME. I BROUGHT MY LITTLE BROTHER, WHO DOES NOT HAVE THE SAME TASTE AS ME, AND HE ALSO LOVED IT AND THOUGHT IT WAS HILARIOUS. AND I ESPECIALLY WANT TO HIGHLIGHT THE LEAD ROLE.

HIS NAME IS BOOMHAUER, AND HE PLAYED MR. BODY AND HE IS SO TALENTED.

OH MY GOSH. I WAS SITTING THERE AND THERE'S THIS ONE PART WHERE THERE'S LIKE PROBABLY IT'S A 3 OR 4 MINUTE MONOLOGUE AND HE'S LIKE RUNNING AROUND AND ACTING CRAZY.

AND IF YOU WATCH CLUE, YOU UNDERSTAND. AND IT WAS LIKE SO INSANE.

IT WAS INCREDIBLE. AND I JUST I CAN'T NOT HIGHLIGHT THAT.

AND ALSO CLARK WINTER TERM STARTED LAST WEEK.

SO ALL THE RUNNING START STUDENTS HAVE THAT GOING ON.

IT'S PRETTY CHILL HONESTLY. WINTER TERM IS USUALLY ONE OF THE EASIER TERMS FOR CLARK.

AND THEN WINTER SPORTS ARE ALSO IN FULL SWING, WHICH I DON'T DO ANY WINTER SPORTS AND I DON'T KEEP UP WITH MOST WINTER SPORTS.

SO IF YOU WANT TO IF YOU WANT AN UPDATE, I'M SORRY.

AND ANOTHER THING I KIND OF WANTED TO TALK ABOUT IS ESL.

AND I ACTUALLY VISIT EVERY MIDDLE SCHOOL AND THE SECONDARY SCHOOLS AS STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES, AND WE MEET WITH ALL STUDENTS LIKE STUDENTS OF EVERY GRADE AND TALK ABOUT WHAT THEY LIKE ABOUT THEIR SCHOOL, WHAT THEY DISLIKE ABOUT THEIR SCHOOL WHAT THEY WOULD LIKE TO CHANGE.

AND WE'RE ABOUT HALFWAY THROUGH THAT, MAYBE A LITTLE BIT MORE THAN HALFWAY, I ACTUALLY DON'T KNOW.

BUT IT JUST REMINDED ME WE WENT TO WE HAD A VISIT AT PLEASANT VALLEY MIDDLE THIS MORNING, AND IT WAS REALLY GOOD.

WE GOT SOME REALLY GOOD FEEDBACK. WE HAD SOME AMAZING CONVERSATIONS.

WE GOT A T SHIRT, WE WENT LATE, ALL THE AMAZING PARTS OF A SCHOOL VISIT AND.

YEAH, AND THEN THE LAST THING I WANT TO TOUCH ON IS THE END OF SEMESTER IS COMING UP.

AND I BELIEVE OUR NEXT IS OUR NEXT BOARD MEETING AFTER.

NO, I THINK IT'S RIGHT BEFORE IT'S RIGHT BEFORE THE END OF SEMESTER. SO RIGHT AFTER THAT SCHOOLS ARE GETTING READY TO FORECAST FOR HIGH SCHOOLERS, AND SENIORS ARE GETTING READY TO PUSH THROUGH TO GRADUATION.

SO I'VE BEEN GETTING A TON OF SENIOR EMAILS. OTHER SENIORS WILL UNDERSTAND THAT.

I FEEL LIKE JUST IN THE PAST, LIKE WEEK, I'VE ALREADY GOTTEN LIKE 4 OR 5.

SO WE'RE ALL GETTING READY KIND OF FOR THE END OF THE YEAR.

WE'RE GETTING READY TO RESET WITH THE BEGINNING OF THE NEXT SEMESTER.

[00:30:02]

AND YEAH, THAT'S ALL I HAVE. OKAY. I DO HAVE, LIKE, A GOOD AMOUNT TO KIND OF TALK ABOUT JUST BECAUSE FOR SOME REASON, ONCE I CAME BACK FROM CHRISTMAS, LIKE CHRISTMAS BREAK, I JUST GOT, LIKE, BOMBARDED WITH EMAILS ABOUT CERTAIN THINGS.

BUT I WANTED TO TALK ABOUT A LITTLE BIT ABOUT OUR SPORTS AND, LIKE, HIGHLIGHT TWO STUDENTS FROM WRESTLING.

SO ONE OF THEM IS FAITH TARRANT. AND JUST WANTED TO TALK ABOUT, YOU KNOW, HER RANKINGS.

SO SHE'S EIGHTH IN THE NATION AND NUMBER ONE IN STATE.

RIGHT NOW, HER WINS AND LOSSES IS 20 TO 0. AND LAST WEEKEND SHE GOT HER 100TH PIN HER SENIOR YEAR.

SO THAT WAS REALLY EXCITING FOR HER. AND THEN I ALSO WANTED TO HIGHLIGHT NICHOLAS CROSIER.

SO FAR HIS WINS ARE IN WINS AND LOSSES ARE 13 TO 4.

AND HE'S RANKED SEVENTH IN STATE. AND THEN FOR BOYS BASKETBALL THEY PLAYED THEIR FIRST LEAGUE GAME AGAINST KELSO AND WON 68 TO 49, AND THEY PLAY HERITAGE TOMORROW AT 7 P.M.

AND THEN BOYS AND THEN GIRLS BASKETBALL PLAYED KELSO ALSO, BUT UNFORTUNATELY LOST 55 TO 63.

BUT I KNOW THEY GOT IT TOMORROW AGAINST HERITAGE AND THAT WAS AN AWAY GAME.

AND THEN BOYS IS A HOME GAME. AND THEN I WANTED TO TALK ABOUT KIND OF LEADERSHIP AND WHAT WE'RE DOING IN ASB AND STUFF.

SO RIGHT NOW IT'S KIND OF SLOW BECAUSE WE DON'T REALLY HAVE ANY UPCOMING EVENTS UNTIL MARCH, WHICH IS KIND OF SPRING FLING. SO WE'RE STARTING THESE PROJECTS IN CLASS WHERE KIDS GROUP UP AND MAKE THESE EVENTS THAT THEY WANT TO PLAN, AND THEY PLAN IT OUT BY DOING FLIERS AND EVERYTHING.

SO, FOR EXAMPLE, I KNOW ONE OF OUR STUDENTS WANTS TO DO A FIELD LIKE AN EVENT WHERE WE THROW A FIELD TRIP FOR A FIELD DAY FOR THE YOUNGER KIDS, AND WE INVITE THEM AND WE KIND OF PLAN THAT OUT.

SO THAT'S WHAT HE WANTS HIS PROJECT TO BE ABOUT.

AND THEN ALSO BECAUSE OF THE NEW SEO CURRICULUM THAT THEY ARE PILOTING CALLED WAYFAIR, I AM IN TWO OF THE CLASSES THAT ARE PILOTING THEM, AND I LIKE SEEING BEING IN THOSE CLASSES LIKE SEEING AS A STUDENT, HOW IT'S WORKING, HOW THEY ARE PLANNING TO GO ON WITH IT, AND IT'S A GREAT IDEA. BUT I THINK THE ONLY THING THAT I WOULD KIND OF WANT TO HIGHLIGHT IS KIND OF THE ATMOSPHERE WE PUT AROUND SEO AND KIND OF TRYING TO FIX THAT AT SCHOOL, BECAUSE I KNOW A LOT OF STUDENTS DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE TALKING ABOUT THEIR ISSUES OR TALKING ABOUT THEIR MENTAL HEALTH.

SO IT'S KIND OF SCARY FOR THEM TO TALK ABOUT THOSE THINGS.

SO I THINK KIND OF HELPING AND FINDING WAYS TO BUILD THAT CONFIDENCE IN THOSE STUDENTS TO TALK ABOUT THAT, KNOWING THAT THEY WON'T GET JUDGED ABOUT IT IS, I THINK, WILL HELP THE SEO CURRICULUM SUCCEED EVEN MORE BECAUSE, LIKE JULIA SAID, WE VISITED PLEASANT VALLEY AND I KNOW WE ASKED THEM ABOUT THE SEL CENTER AND KIND OF IF THEY USE IT.

AND I KNOW ONE OF THE STUDENTS SAID THAT SHE KIND OF IS AFRAID TO USE IT BECAUSE SHE'S AFRAID TO GET JUDGED FOR USING IT OR GET QUESTIONED ABOUT WHY SHE'S USING IT.

SO I KNOW A LOT OF STUDENTS KIND OF HAVE THAT SECOND GUESS OF THEY DON'T WANT TO BE ASKED ABOUT IT, THEY DON'T WANT TO BE QUESTIONED. SO I THINK IT'S GOOD TO KIND OF CHANGE THAT ATMOSPHERE AND THAT LOOK ON THE SEL KIND OF.

ANY SUGGESTIONS ON THAT. I THINK IT'S HARD TO SAY RIGHT NOW BECAUSE I KNOW SOME OF THOSE STUDENTS AT PLEASANT VALLEY, THEY SAID THAT THEY USE IT AND THEY FEEL REALLY COMFORTABLE ABOUT IT. BUT I THINK IT STARTS WITH HOW THE TEACHERS TALK ABOUT IT TO THE STUDENTS, AND THEN HOW THE STUDENTS TALK ABOUT IT WITH THEIR FELLOW CLASSMATES.

SO I THINK THAT'S A GREAT WAY TO START ON HOW TO VOICE AND HOW TO ADVOCATE THAT THE SEL CENTER IS REALLY GOOD FOR YOUR MENTAL HEALTH.

AND IT'S NOT YOU SHOULDN'T BE AFRAID TO TALK ABOUT IT, AND IT WILL NEVER AFFECT YOU NEGATIVELY.

SO THAT'S KIND OF A GOOD WAY TO ADVOCATE ALL OF THAT.

AND THEN AND I THINK THIS THIS IS WHAT GOES ON TO KIND OF THE GOOD SIDE ABOUT THAT IS AT PRAIRIE HIGH SCHOOL WE STARTED SOMETHING CALLED THE WELLNESS CLUB AND THEY MEET EVERY TUESDAY. SO FAR THEY'VE HAD TWO MEETINGS, BUT THEY WANT TO START VERY SMALL TO BUILD LEADERSHIP FOR NEXT YEAR BECAUSE IT IS VERY NEW. AND THEY HAVE A MEETING TOMORROW DURING FALCON SPORT.

AND HOW THIS IDEA CAME ACROSS IS WE HAD THIS FRESHMAN WHO WAS A PART OF DREAM TEAM WHEN HE WAS IN MIDDLE SCHOOL, AND ONCE HE CAME TO HIGH SCHOOL, HE DIDN'T LIKE FIND A CLUB THAT WAS KIND OF LIKE DREAM TEAM HERE AT PRAIRIE HIGH SCHOOL.

SO HE KIND OF TALKED TO ONE OF THE COUNSELORS AND ME AND TAMARA, AND WE TALKED ABOUT IT AND FOUND A WAY TO KIND OF PLAN THAT OUT.

SO THEY STARTED THEIR MEETINGS AND THEY'RE KIND OF STARTING SMALL BECAUSE ONE OF OUR COUNSELORS CANNOT MEET ON THURSDAYS, WHICH IS THE FALCON SPORT, WHERE SPORT, WHERE EVERYBODY GOES TO CLUBS. SO WE HAVE TO MEET TUESDAYS, WHICH IS WHERE EVERYBODY GOES, STAYS IN THEIR CLASSES TO ACTUALLY LIKE HAVE HELP WITH THEIR TEACHERS.

[00:35:03]

SO WE HAD TO TALK TO THE PRINCIPALS AND ALL OF THAT.

AND SO THOSE STUDENTS IN THE CLUB HAVE TO MAINTAIN A CERTAIN GPA, BECAUSE IF NOT, THEN THEY NEED TO STAY IN THEIR NORMAL FALCON SPORTS TO WORK ON THEIR STUFF BECAUSE WE DON'T WANT IT ALSO TO NEGATIVELY AFFECT THE STUDENTS IN THE WELLNESS CLUB. SO THAT'S WHY WE'RE KIND OF STARTING SMALL TO BUILD THAT LEADERSHIP. SO EVERYBODY KNOWS THE RULES AND HOW TO WORK. AND I THINK IT'S A GREAT ADDITION.

AND I DON'T THINK IT'S NOT GOING TO NEGATIVELY IMPACT THE SCHOOL.

I THINK IT WILL ONLY BRING POSITIVE VIBES. THAT'S AMAZING.

SO AND THEN I ALSO WANTED LAST THING I ALSO WANTED TO TALK ABOUT THE TK ACADEMY.

I WENT TO A TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN ACADEMY.

WHAT WAS IT AGAIN? TUKES VALLEY AT TUKES VALLEY.

AND I REALLY LIKED GOING THERE. I THINK ONE OF MY FAVORITE MEMORIES THAT TO THIS DAY I THINK ABOUT WAS WHEN I WAS HELPING ONE OF THE STUDENTS AND ONCE I LEFT, HE JUST GRABBED MY LEG AND WOULDN'T LET GO. THAT WAS MY BEST MEMORY.

SO THAT'S WHAT THAT'S ONE OF MY BEST MEMORIES.

BUT I ALSO WANTED TO TALK ABOUT SOMETHING THAT THEY BROUGHT UP THAT WAS SUPER BENEFICIAL NOT TO ONLY THE YOUNGER KIDS, BUT ALSO, I THINK SOMETHING THAT A LOT OF TEACHERS TAKE INTO ACCOUNT, WHICH IS CALLED GROWTH MINDSET.

AND I DON'T THINK A LOT OF PEOPLE KNOW HOW MUCH THIS MIGHT IMPACT STUDENTS, AND HOW MUCH IT IS SUPER BENEFICIAL ON HOW TEACHERS GO ABOUT THE GROWTH MINDSET INSTEAD OF A FIXED MINDSET. AND HOW I WOULD KIND OF DESCRIBE GROWTH VERSUS FIXED.

IS A STUDENT BEING FIXED THAT ONCE THEY FAIL, THEY CAN NEVER SUCCEED? AND WITH A STUDENT WHO HAS A GROWTH MINDSET, WHICH IS ONCE THEY FAIL, THEY CAN ALWAYS SUCCEED IN THE FUTURE AND THEY LEARN FROM THEIR FROM THEIR MISTAKES, AND I THINK IT'S SUPER IMPORTANT TO HAVE THOSE IN CLASSES BECAUSE, YOU KNOW, YOU CAN ALWAYS HEAR THAT SAYING WHERE I WASN'T BORN SMART, SO I CAN'T BE SMART.

AND THAT'S A FIXED MINDSET TO ME. AND I DON'T THINK IT'S GOOD FOR ESPECIALLY SUCH AT SUCH A YOUNG AGE, TO HAVE THAT FIXED MINDSET THAT IT'S SUPER BENEFICIAL TO TEACH THOSE KIDS TO HAVE A GROWTH MINDSET BECAUSE IT DOES AFFECT THEM IN THE FUTURE.

AND IT'S SUPER, SUPER IMPORTANT TO BE TEACHING THAT SO THEY CAN HAVE THAT GROWTH MINDSET IN THE FUTURE.

AND BY THAT, IT'S ALSO DEPENDS ON STAFF AND TEACHERS IMPLEMENTING THAT INTO THEIR EDUCATION, INTO HOW THEY TEACH. BECAUSE AS YOU CAN ALWAYS SEE BETWEEN STAFF AND TEACHERS, THAT THERE'S ALWAYS TEACHERS THAT TEACH BECAUSE THEY LIKE THE CURRICULUM VERSUS TEACHERS WHO TEACH BECAUSE THEY HAVE A PASSION FOR THE STUDENTS.

AND I THINK THOSE WHO HAVE A PASSION FOR THE STUDENTS TEACH A GROWTH MINDSET, WHICH IS SUPER IMPORTANT BECAUSE A LOT OF THOSE STUDENTS LOVE THOSE CLASSES.

A LOT OF THE STUDENTS LEARN FROM THOSE TEACHERS AND THOSE TEACHERS WHO TEACH THE SUBJECT.

THEY HAVE A FIXED MINDSET AS ONCE THEY FAIL, THEY CANNOT SUCCEED BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE THAT HELP THAT THEY'RE SEEKING, BECAUSE THE TEACHER DOESN'T REALLY HAVE THE PASSION TO HELP THOSE STUDENTS.

SO I THINK IT'S SUPER BENEFICIAL TO HAVE THOSE GROWTH MINDSETS.

AND WE WENT IN AND LOOKED AT SOME OF THE KINDERGARTEN CLASSES, AND SEEING HOW THOSE TEACHERS IMPLEMENTED THAT GROWTH MINDSET WAS SUPER IMPORTANT, BECAUSE A LOT OF THOSE STUDENTS, EVEN WHEN THEY DID NOT SUCCEED IN ONE OF THE LITTLE PROJECTS THAT THEY WERE DOING, THEY STILL SAID IT WAS THEIR FAVORITE, WHICH IS WHAT IS SO IMPORTANT ABOUT A GROWTH MINDSET.

OKAY. THAT'S ALL. THANK YOU. THANK YOU ALL. OKAY.

WE WILL MOVE ON TO COMMITTEE REPORTS. AND THE FIRST IS THE LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE.

AND TONIGHT. OH YES. AND SO IF YOU CAME FOR A STUDENT VOICE AND YOU'D LIKE TO EXIT AT EXIT AT THIS TIME, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO DO SO. YOU'RE OBVIOUSLY INVITED AND WELCOME TO STAY FOR THE REST OF THE MEETING IF YOU'D LIKE TO, BUT YOU AREN'T REQUIRED TO. LEGISLATIVE REPORT? SURE. OKAY, SO LET'S GO. SO THE LEGISLATIVE SESSION JUST STARTED TODAY.

THEY'RE GOING TO APRIL 27TH. YOU'RE GOING TO HEAR US TALK ABOUT WSSDA WSSDA A LOT.

AND SO WSSDA IS WORKING WITH THE LEGISLATORS AND TRYING TO ADVOCATE FOR CERTAIN THINGS.

AND AGAIN WSSDA IS ADVOCATING FOR A SPECIAL ED MSOC AND TRANSPORTATION.

SPECIAL ED, THEY'RE LOOKING AT THE FUNDING AND HOW IT'S FIGURED AND ASKING FOR IT TO BE FIGURED DIFFERENTLY SO THAT IT THAT IT COVERS THE NEEDS BETTER. MSOC IS MATERIAL, SUPPLIES AND OPERATING COSTS, AND THEY'RE REALLY ASKING THESE FOLKS TO CONSIDER THE FACT THAT, YOU KNOW, PRICES AREN'T THE SAME AS THEY USED TO BE AND THEY'RE NOT COVERING INFLATION.

AND THEN THE TRANSPORTATION, IT KIND OF FALLS INTO BOTH AREAS.

[00:40:04]

AND THEY ARE ASKING FOR A NEW FORMULA FOR TRANSPORTATION.

OKAY. YOU CAN ACTUALLY GET ONTO LEDGE.WA.GOV.

AND YOU CAN ACTUALLY FIND A WAY TO ADVOCATE IN THOSE AREAS.

AND ADVOCATE HAS TO DO WITH SHARING A STORY, A STORY THAT THEY NEED TO HEAR TO HELP THEM KNOW WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON AND UNDERSTAND THE NEED. SO IF YOU'RE INTERESTED AT ALL, I WOULD STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU LOOK AT LEDGE.WA.GO V.

ANOTHER ELEMENT THAT CAME OUT IN WSSDA WAS A TRISH HUDDLESTON IS OUR LOCAL LEGISLATIVE REP FOR IT.

WE'RE DIVIDED INTO SIX REGIONS. AND SHE SENT US A PROPOSED RESOLUTION.

SO IF YOU PASS THIS DOWN, THIS HAS TO DO WITH THIS HAS TO DO WITH THIS ORGANIZATION CALLED WIAA I'M SORRY WIAA, LET ME GET IT RIGHT. IT'S SPORTS. OKAY.

AND WIAA IS A GROUP THAT HAS BEFORE THEM RIGHT NOW A AMENDMENT THAT TRISH HUDDLESTON AND A GROUP OUT OF WSSDA IS ADVOCATING FOR US TO LOOK AT THIS RESOLUTION AND PASS IT REGARDING TITLE NINE.

SO, DENNY, I BRING THIS TO US, AND THE IDEA IS THAT MAYBE WE COULD PUT IT ON THE AGENDA FOR US TO DISCUSS NEXT MEETING.

YOU KNOW, AND I DON'T KNOW EXACTLY HOW YOU NEED TO GET THAT DONE WITH.

WE CAN TALK ABOUT IT AND YOU CAN TELL ME THE AGENDA.

OKAY. ALL RIGHT. SO WHEN WE PUT OUR AGENDA TOGETHER, MARY. NEXT, MEETING WE WOULD WANT TO MAYBE HAVE THIS ON IT AND MAYBE PUT IT FORWARD FOR PEOPLE, THE COMMUNITY, TO BE ABLE TO SPEAK TO IT.

SO THAT'S A SAMPLE OF WHAT THEY'RE PROPOSING.

OKAY. AND THEN THERE ARE 200 POSITIONS THAT WSSDA HAS.

AND THEY'RE ASKING US. SO THIS IS A MANDATE. THIS IS A TO US.

THEY'RE ASKING US TO START LOOKING AT THESE 200 POSITIONS AS MUCH AS WE CAN, BECAUSE IT NEEDS TO BE CLEANED UP.

IT NEEDS TO BE. SOME OF THEM CAN BE DROPPED, SOME OF THEM CAN BE WRITTEN BETTER, YOU KNOW, AND THEY'RE ALL AVAILABLE. AND SO WSSDA, WSSDA.ORG ACTUALLY SHOWS THESE 200 POSITIONS WHAT WSSDA IS ALL ABOUT? AND YOU CAN GO THERE AND YOU CAN LOOK AT THIS STUFF AND YOU CAN FIGURE OUT WHAT THEY'RE DOING AND MAYBE MAKE SOME SUGGESTIONS YOURSELF.

SO THAT'S MY REPORT FOR TODAY. THERE'S I'VE BEEN AT A COUPLE MEETINGS THIS LAST WEEK FOR WSSDA FOR LEADERSHIP.

AND THERE'S SO THERE'S SO MANY THINGS THAT THEY'RE DOING AND TALKING ABOUT. AND SO I TRIED TO THROW THOSE THINGS TOGETHER AS A QUICKIE.

THANK YOU, TERRY. YOU BET. GOOD INFORMATION. GOOD.

THE SESSION OPENED UP TODAY, RIGHT? RIGHT TODAY. AND IT GOES TO WHAT DID I SAY, APRIL 27TH? IT'S SUPPOSEDLY A LONGER SESSION THAN MOST. THIS IS THE LONGER.

THERE'S NO. I'M SORRY, BUT THERE IS A WEEKLY THING THAT YOU CAN FIND ONLINE THAT SAYS WHAT'S HAPPENED THIS WEEK AT LEDGE, YOU KNOW, AT THE LEGISLATURE. AND THAT'S THROUGH THE LEDGE.WA.GOV.

OKAY. SO, IT'S THERE'S A LOT GOING ON. AND IT ALSO PROVIDES KIND OF A WEEKLY UPDATE AS WELL.

YES. AND IT'S HARDER TO FIND ON THE WALLS OF THE SITE THOUGH.

IT'S CALLED TWEETS THIS WEEK IN OLYMPIA. OKAY.

AND IT'S FOCUSED, AS MARY SAID, PRIMARILY ON THE EDUCATIONAL ISSUES.

VERY GOOD. IF YOU WANTED TO SORT THROUGH. YEAH.

THEY'RE TOUTING THIS, TOUTING THIS LARGE LEDGE.WA.GOV.

THEY'RE SAYING THIS SAYING THIS IS THE NEW THING, IT'S WONDERFUL. YEAH IT LOOKS LIKE THEY'VE REDESIGNED IT.

ARE YOU ABLE TO GET ON THE WEEKLY NETWORK CALL? YES. OKAY. THAT'S HELPFUL AS WELL. THERE'S A WEEKLY NETWORK CALL.

THERE'S A WEEKLY NEWSLETTER THAT EVERYBODY CAN SEE.

THERE'S A BUNCH OF STUFF GOING ON, AND YOU CAN THERE'S PLACES TO TRACK ALL THE LEGISLATION, YOU KNOW. YEAH. AGAIN IT'S THE LEDGE.WA.GOV ALLOWS YOU TO DO THAT.

SO IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN TRACKING THE LEGISLATION IT'S THERE. THANK YOU.

SURE. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS FOR TERRY? NO. BUT THIS NEW POSITION SUITS YOU VERY WELL.

YES IT DOES. WELL, I TALKED TO A TEACHER ONE TIME, YOU MAY REMEMBER, AND I SAID, WELL, IS THERE ANYTHING WE CAN DO FOR YOU? AND THEY SAID, WELL THEY CAN'T. THEY SAID, WELL, HOW ABOUT IF WE GET YOU MORE PREP TIME? AND THEY SAID, OH, YOU CAN'T DO THAT. THEY'VE GOT LEGISLATORS CONTROL THAT.

THIS IS WHAT THIS IS WHERE IT ALL COMES DOWN.

WE NEED TO ADVOCATE FOR ALL OF THIS STUFF. OKAY SO.

GOOD JOB. THANK YOU. YEAH. AND AUDIT COMMITTEE.

TED? YEAH, WE HAD A MEETING LAST WEEK AS WELL.

LET'S SEE. WE COVERED THE NORMAL BUDGETS FOR THE BOARD AND THE SUPERINTENDENT.

IF ANY CHECK OUT THERE. SEVERAL INVOICES. ALL THE TIME CARDS THROUGH THOSE.

AND THEN WE TOPPED IT OFF BY GOING THROUGH THE NOTES FROM THE FINANCIAL STATEMENT.

WHICH DOESN'T SOUND VERY, YOU KNOW, FANTASTIC OR ANYTHING, BUT IT'S CONSIDER THAT A NARRATIVE BEHIND THE ENTIRE FINANCIAL STATEMENT.

[00:45:09]

AND TO KIND OF GRASP, EVERY SINGLE LINE HAS ITS OWN SECTION IN THIS THING THAT TALKS ABOUT WHAT IT IS.

SO, SOMEONE ELSE COULD READ IT AND UNDERSTAND IT.

SO MY HAT'S OFF TO MICHELLE AND YOUR GROUP. THE EXTENSIVE AMOUNT OF WORK YOU DO PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER IS IT'S IMPRESSIVE.

THERE'S, YOU KNOW, IN THE NOTES, THE STATEMENT ITSELF HAD 17 BULLET POINTS.

AND EACH ONE OF THOSE WAS ITS OWN MASSIVE SECTION.

COVERED EVERYTHING FROM EVERY DEPOSIT AND INVESTMENT THROUGH THE PENSIONS, INSURANCE, SOFTWARE, SUBSCRIPTIONS, LEASES, YOU NAME IT. IT'S ALL COVERED IN THERE.

SO I DON'T KNOW IF YOU GUYS WANT TO COPY THAT.

I'M SURE WE CAN MAKE IT AVAILABLE TO YOU, BUT IT'S IT WAS A LOT OF WORK.

SO, AGAIN, GOOD JOB. AND THEN OUR NEXT MEETING IS ACTUALLY JANUARY 21ST.

SO BECAUSE OF SOME FUTURE STUFF GOING ON, WE HAD TO KIND OF CONDENSE IT.

SO NEXT ONE IS LIKE NEXT WEEK. SO YEAH, THAT'S IT.

THANK YOU. AND BGEF BATTLE GROUND EDUCATION FOUNDATION.

SO THEY HAVE A MEETING COMING UP THIS THURSDAY WITH THEIR MEMBERS.

OVER THE HOLIDAYS, THEY DID RECEIVE A VERY GENEROUS GRANT THAT I WANTED TO SHARE.

THE BATTLE GROUND ROSE CORPORATION DONATED $25,000 TO THE BATTLE GROUND EDUCATION FOUNDATION IN SUPPORT OF THE FAMILY AND COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER OR THE FCRC. BATTLE GROUND PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND BATTLE GROUND HIGH SCHOOL MARCHING BANDS.

SO THEY WILL BE AFTER THE HOLIDAYS, WHICH IS NOW AND PROBABLY AFTER THIS MEETING THIS THURSDAY, THEY'LL BE GETTING ON THEIR WEBSITE ALL THE DETAILS AND INTERVIEWS TELLING THE STORY.

THEY CAN'T WAIT TO SHARE WITH YOU ABOUT THE FAR REACHING IMPACTS ALREADY TAKING PLACE, AND THEY ARE JUST DEEPLY GRATEFUL TO THE BATTLE GROUND ROSE FLOAT CORPORATION AND TO BILL AND LOUISE TUCKER FOR THEIR WORK. FOR WORKING WITH THEM ON THIS GRANT.

AND WHAT A HUGE THING FOR THE STUDENTS AND STAFF OF OUR SCHOOLS.

SO WANT TO MAKE SURE I SHARED THAT. AND BGF.ORG IS WHERE YOU CAN FOLLOW THAT.

AND ANY UPDATES TO WATCH THAT. THOSE INTERVIEWS AND THAT UNRAVEL.

THANK YOU. AND TOURS COMMITTEE. WE DO HAVE A TOUR THIS FRIDAY AT BATTLE GROUND HIGH SCHOOL AT 08:30 AND NO ONE HAS A BYE, SO I'M ASSUMING EVERYONE WILL BE THERE.

OKAY. AND WE'LL MOVE ON TO SUPERINTENDENT AND STAFF UPDATES.

[6. Superintendent and Staff Updates]

WAIT A MINUTE. DIRECTOR REPORTS. ANYTHING? ANYONE HAVE ANYTHING TO REPORT? DIRECTOR REPORTS. COMING OFF THE HOLIDAYS? YEAH. IT WAS QUIET. IT SEEMS WEIRD THAT IT'S BEEN IN FACT, WHEN YOU BROUGHT UP GOING TO THE ACADEMY, I REMEMBERED THAT THAT WAS AFTER OUR LAST MEETING.

AND YOU GAVE A THOROUGH REPORT. AND IT WAS A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE.

I WAS THERE WITH ITZEL. AND HOW MANY TEACHERS? I WOULD SAY MAYBE TEN TEACHERS WERE THERE AND IT WAS JUST SO WELL DONE.

WE SPENT THE MORNING WITH THEM AND WITH THE TEACHERS IN KIND OF CONVERSATION AND LEARNING, AND THEN WE WENT INTO THE CLASSROOM AND IT WAS A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE.

AND THEY DID. THEY BUILT IN GROWTH MINDSET. AND THEN THEY BUILT IN THE DANIELSON FRAMEWORK AND HOW THAT FITS IN.

AND THEN WE WENT INTO TALKING ABOUT THE CURRICULUM THAT THEY WERE WORKING ON.

AND INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH, THE LITTLE KINDERGARTNER THAT CAME SEVERAL MEETINGS AGO THAT HAD NOT SPOKEN AND SHE WAS IN THAT CLASS.

AND SO WE GOT TO SEE HER IN HER CLASSROOM. THAT WAS REALLY GREAT.

AND IT WAS JUST A IT'S A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE TO SEE THE TEACHERS LEARNING RIGHT IN THE CLASSROOM AS THEY'RE DOING THE WORK.

AND MISS MEADOWLARK CLARK IS A GREAT FACILITATOR.

SO I APPRECIATE THE OPPORTUNITY TO GO TO THAT ACADEMY.

AND NOW WE WILL MOVE ON TO SUPERINTENDENT STAFF UPDATES.

THANK YOU. I PROMISED THE BOARD, AS YOU REMEMBER THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION IS INSTALLING A NEW CROSSWALK AT PRAIRIE HIGH SCHOOL ON SR 503, AND THAT WAS IN RESPONSE TO A STUDENT THAT WAS INJURED TRYING TO CROSS THE STREET THERE, STRUCK BY A CAR. AND I WANTED TO LET THE BOARD TO KNOW THAT THAT WORK HAS STARTED.

IT STARTED LAST WEEK, MONDAY. THE WORK IS TAKING PLACE BETWEEN 8 P.M.

AND 5:30 A.M. IN THE SOUTHBOUND LANES, AND WORK ON THE NORTHBOUND LANES WILL HAPPEN BETWEEN 8 P.M.

AND 10 A.M. IT WILL TAKE PLACE ON WEEKDAYS AND POSSIBLY ONE WEEKEND.

YOU MIGHT NOTICE AS YOU DRIVE BY THAT A SECTION OF THE SIDEWALK WILL BE CLOSED, BUT THERE WILL BE A PEDESTRIAN DETOUR, SO IT WILL NOT PRECLUDE ACCESS TO THE SCHOOL FOR OUR STUDENTS.

[00:50:04]

AND THEY'RE ESTIMATING THAT THE WORK SHOULD BE COMPLETED IN FEBRUARY.

THEY'RE PUTTING IN WHAT THEY REFER TO AS A HAWK CROSSING.

STANDS FOR HIGH INTENSITY ACTIVATED CROSSWALK.

A LITTLE BIT OF LIBERTY WITH THE ACRONYM THERE, BUT IT WORKS.

HIGH INTENSITY ACTIVATED CROSSWALK, AND IT'S A SPECIAL SIGNAL WHERE THE STUDENTS PRESS THE BUTTON AND THE LIGHTS FLASH AND IT TURNS YELLOW, AND THEN IT TURNS RED ONCE ALL THE TRAFFIC HAS STARTED.

AND THEN WHAT IT DOES FOR THE STUDENTS IS THEY IT LINES UP DIRECTLY WITH THE KIND OF JUST JUST SOUTH OF THE PARKING LOT ENTRANCE.

SO THE WALKWAY THERE SO STUDENTS DON'T HAVE TO WALK ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE CROSSWALK AND THEN COME BACK UP, AND IT'S SEPARATED BY A ISLAND MEDIAN IN THE MIDDLE, SO STUDENTS CAN CROSS PARTWAY AND THEN WAIT FOR THE TRAFFIC TO CLEAR ON THE OTHER SIDE.

SO IT'S ACTUALLY A TWO PART CROSS CROSSING SYSTEM.

SO WE'RE VERY EXCITED. WE WE APPRECIATE OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH THE STATE TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT.

THIS IS A OVER $1 MILLION PROJECT. SO IT'S QUITE THE INVESTMENT.

AND BUT WE'RE THANKFUL FOR THE INVESTMENT IN THE SAFETY OF OUR PRAIRIE STUDENTS.

WAS THAT FULLY FUNDED BY DOT? FULLY FUNDED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION.

AND HAD WE REQUESTED THAT AT SOME TIME AGO, OR IS THIS A BRAND NEW REQUEST? HOW QUICKLY WOULD DID THEY RESPOND IS MY QUESTION? RESPONDED VERY QUICKLY.

WE DID, WHEN THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED, WE DID REACH OUT TO THEM.

THEY HAD ALREADY REALIZED IT AS WELL THAT IT WAS A NEED.

SO THERE WAS MONTHS OF DISCUSSION AND DIFFERENT PLANNING, DIFFERENT CONCEPTS WERE PRESENTED, INCLUDING A BRIDGE OVER THE TOP, BUT THAT WAS JUST WAY TOO EXPENSIVE.

AND SO THEY ENDED UP GOING WITH THIS. SO AGAIN, WE'RE VERY, VERY THANKFUL AND VERY PLEASED WITH THE RESPONSE AND THE PARTNERSHIP.

AND THEN LASTLY, REAL QUICK, I WANTED TO MENTION THAT WE HAVE STARTED OUR LEVY PRESENTATIONS.

WE DID THREE PRESENTATIONS LAST WEEK. MAPLE GROVE PRIMARY RIVER HOMELINK AND BATTLE GROUND.

VIRTUAL ACADEMY WAS ONE. WE DID TUKES VALLEY PRIMARY AND TUKES VALLEY MIDDLE SCHOOL.

THAT WAS THE SECOND ONE. AND WE DID PRAIRIE AND SUMMIT VIEW HIGH SCHOOLS.

THAT WAS THE THIRD ONE. AND THIS WEEK WE ACTUALLY HAVE FIVE PRESENTATIONS SCHEDULED.

SO TOMORROW WE HAVE PRESENTATIONS AT GLENWOOD PRIMARY AND LAUREN MIDDLE SCHOOL.

WE HAVE PRESENTATIONS AT DAYBREAK PRIMARY AND DAYBREAK MIDDLE SCHOOL.

WE HAVE PRESENTATIONS AT PLEASANT VALLEY PRIMARY AND PLEASANT VALLEY MIDDLE SCHOOL.

AND THEN ON THURSDAY WE HAVE PRESENTATIONS AT YACOLT PRIMARY AND AMBOY MIDDLE SCHOOL AND PRESENTATIONS AT CAPTAIN STRONG PRIMARY AND CHIEF UMTUCH MIDDLE SCHOOL.

SO IS THERE SOMETHING ON THAT ONLINE? I MEAN, CAN I SEE THAT CALENDAR ONLINE? YOU CAN SEE THAT CALENDAR ONLINE. YES. IT IS POSTED ONLINE AT BATTLEGROUNDPS.ORG.

SO YOU CAN JUST FIND IT THERE. THERE'S A TAB FOR LEVY INFORMATION AND YOU CAN SEE IT THERE.

I SHOULD ALSO POINT OUT THAT SHELLY AND I DID FILM, DID VIDEO ONE OF THE PRESENTATIONS AND THAT IS ALSO ONLINE.

SO IF YOU CAN'T MAKE THE PRESENTATION, YOU CAN STILL VIEW IT, A COPY OF IT ONLINE.

ABOUT THAT. YEAH. SO JUST WANTED TO PUT THAT OUT THERE.

AND SO FAR SO GOOD. SO THANKS TO ALL THE STAFF.

OBVIOUSLY SHELLY AND I CAN'T DO ALL OF THEM WITH SO MANY HAPPENING ON THE SAME DAY.

SO LUKE LACOUNT, TRAVIS DRAKE, LYNELL MURRAY, MIKE MICHOD, AMANDA RICHTER, EVERYBODY JUMPED IN AND ARE HELPING US. TRAVIS. DID I MENTION TRAVIS? YEAH.

TRAVIS MENTIONED TRAVIS. AGAIN. TRAVIS. IT MIGHT IT MIGHT BE HELPFUL TO HAVE TERRY COME AND GIVE US A REPORT SOMETIME ON WHAT HE'S THINKING, WHAT HE'S SEEING IN ALL OF THIS. YEAH, I CAN HAVE HIM.

MAYBE THE NEXT MEETING. YEAH. YEAH, CERTAINLY.

AND TERRY'S BEEN GOING TO A LOT OF THESE. YEAH.

YEAH. HE'S BEEN WORKING HARD. SO NEXT UP IS TEACHING AND LEARNING AND TURN IT OVER TO SHELLY.

TONIGHT, I'M EXCITED. ALWAYS AN EXCITING THING WHEN WE CAN HEAR FROM OUR CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION TEAM AND THE WORK THAT THEY'RE DOING.

SO, CINDY IS GOING TO COME UP AND TALK TO YOU A LITTLE BIT ABOUT SOME OF THE PARTNERSHIPS THAT WE HAVE GOING IN OUR CTE PROGRAM.

THROUGH THE CENTER.

THANK YOU, BOARD, FOR LETTING ME SPEAK TONIGHT. I APPRECIATE BEING HERE. THANK YOU TO MY COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND PARTNERS WHO ARE IN THE AUDIENCE TONIGHT THAT ARE HERE TO SUPPORT CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION.

AND I'M GOING TO GIVE JUST A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF OUR PARTNERSHIPS AND HOW THEY WORK IN CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION.

[00:55:07]

AND THEN ONE BY ONE I WILL HAVE SOME MEMBERS THAT ARE HERE SPEAK.

AND I HAVE ALSO A COUPLE OF STUDENTS WHO ARE ALSO GOING TO SPEAK ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCE IN THE IN THE DISTRICT.

SO FIRST, OUR COMMUNITY PARTNERS ARE REALLY INVOLVED WITH OUR ADVISE.

WHAT WE CALL ADVISORIES AND ADVISORY IS THEY GIVE US INFORMATION AND, AND THEY HELP US UNDERSTAND WHAT'S CURRENT IN BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY. IF WE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS CURRENT IN BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY, WE WOULDN'T BE TEACHING OUR STUDENTS TO GET READY FOR THOSE JOBS LIKE THEY SHOULD, RIGHT? AND SO WE HAVE ABOUT 150 ADVISORY MEMBERS IN OUR DISTRICT.

AND THOSE ARE CONSISTENT MEMBERS THAT ARE REALLY ATTACHED TO OUR PROGRAM AND GENERAL ADVISORY.

THE GENERAL ADVISORY IS THE ADVISORY, MY EXECUTIVE TEAM THAT WORKS SPECIFICALLY WITH ME.

AND THEN THE PROGRAM ADVISORIES WORK WITH ALL THE PROGRAM AREAS.

SO, FOR EXAMPLE, WELDING HAS WELDING INDUSTRY PARTNERS THAT GIVE THEM ADVICE.

BUSINESS AND MARKETING HAVE BUSINESS AND MARKETING PEOPLE THAT GIVE THEM ADVICE AND SO ON AND SO FORTH.

AND SO WE'RE REALLY THANKFUL FOR OUR ADVISORY MEMBERS.

THEN WE ALSO HAVE WORK BASED LEARNING AND WORK SITE LEARNING.

AND WE HAVE THIS IS THE CONNECTION THAT OUR STUDENTS HAVE WITH OUR WORK SITES.

THEY HAVE IN-CLASS EXPERIENCES AS WELL AS OUT OF CLASS EXPERIENCES.

OUR IN-CLASS EXPERIENCES WOULD BE THINGS LIKE GUEST SPEAKING, MOCK INTERVIEWS.

INDUSTRY FAIR IS A IN-CLASS EXPERIENCE REALLY FOURTH GRADE CAREER FAIR? AND THEN OUR OUT OF CLASS EXPERIENCES ARE THINGS LIKE VISITATIONS.

OUR STUDENTS MIGHT GO TO A BUSINESS AND VISIT THE BUSINESS OR FIELD TRIPS, INTERNSHIPS.

IT'S A SHORT STINT WITH A BUSINESS, JOB SHADOWING, AND THEN A JOB SHADOW IS JUST A ONE DAY THING.

AND THEN WORKSITE LEARNING IS OUR STUDENTS WHO ACTUALLY WORK IN OUR BUSINESSES AND GET PAID.

AND WE HAVE A VERY INVOLVED PARTNERSHIP AND A LOT OF STUDENTS INVOLVED IN THAT.

SO THAT'S WORK BASED LEARNING IS KIND OF THE OVERALL ARCHING DESCRIPTION OF THAT WORK BASED LEARNING.

WHY DO WE DO THAT? BECAUSE IT KEEPS EDUCATION FRESH FOR OUR KIDS.

THEY'RE LEARNING ABOUT HOW TO BE ON THE JOB. THEY'RE LEARNING BY DOING.

IT ACTUALLY GIVES THEM OPPORTUNITIES TO WORK IN THE REAL WORLD.

IT GIVES THEM THEY SEE PROFESSIONALS IN ACTION AND IT HELPS PREPARE THEM.

THEY KNOW HOW TO FILL OUT A JOB APPLICATION AND TALK TO PEOPLE AND NETWORK.

BATTLE GROUND CURRENTLY HAS ABOUT 80 STUDENTS AT SUMMIT VIEW INVOLVED IN WORK BASED LEARNING.

WE HAVE ABOUT 40 AT PRAIRIE, AND WE HAVE 225 AT BATTLE GROUND HIGH SCHOOL, FOR A TOTAL OF ABOUT 345 STUDENTS RIGHT NOW. AND SO THAT'S PROBABLY ABOUT DOUBLE FROM WHEN I FIRST STARTED IN THIS POSITION ABOUT 11 YEARS AGO.

SO WE REALLY HAVE HEAVY INVOLVEMENT AND WE'RE VERY THANKFUL FOR THAT INVOLVEMENT.

AGAIN, SOME MORE ADVANTAGES. IT INCREASES STUDENT MOTIVATION AND THEIR CONFIDENCE.

IT IMPROVES ACADEMIC ENGAGEMENT. OUR BUSINESS PARTNERS CHECK TO MAKE SURE THEY'LL CHECK IN WITH THE STUDENTS AND SAY, HOW ARE YOU DOING IN SCHOOL? IT ENCOURAGES THAT COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT AND IT LETS EMPLOYERS HAVE INFLUENCES IN OUR SCHOOL.

IT MAKES REALLY OUR SCHOOL DISTRICT A MUCH MORE ROBUST PLACE.

BECAUSE OF THESE PARTNERSHIPS. STUDENTS TODAY ARE DIFFERENT.

THEY HAVE THE WORLD AT THEIR FINGERTIPS, AND THEY NEED TO UNDERSTAND WHAT IT'S GOING TO BE LIKE FOR THEM WHEN THEY ACTUALLY GET INTO THE WORKPLACE.

SO I'M GOING TO HAVE OUR GUEST SPEAKERS COME UP 1 OR 2 AT A TIME, AND IT'S A MIXTURE OF STUDENTS WHO ARE ACTUALLY INVOLVED IN WORK BASED LEARNING, AS WELL AS SOME OF OUR COMMUNITY MEMBERS THAT WENT THROUGH OUR PROGRAMS AND ARE NOW HAVE THEIR OWN BUSINESSES.

AND OUR FIRST SPEAKER IS HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT FROM BATTLE GROUND HIGH SCHOOL, ANNELISE NELSON.

HI, I'M ANNELIESE, I'M A JUNIOR AT BATTLE GROUND HIGH SCHOOL, AND I'M IN THE WORK BASED LEARNING PROGRAM, AND I HAVE NOTHING BUT HIGH PRAISE FOR THE PROGRAM.

IT'S FANTASTIC. I RECOMMEND IT TO ANYBODY WHO'S INTERESTED IN IT.

IT'S BEEN ONE OF THE MOST VALUABLE PARTS OF MY HIGH SCHOOL EXPERIENCE, BECAUSE IT'S ALLOWED ME TO WORK AT MY JOB FOR AROUND SIX MONTHS NOW.

I'VE BEEN WORKING THERE AND IT'S TAUGHT ME COMMUNICATION AND COLLABORATION AND TEAMWORK AND HAS HELPED ME TO ENGAGE IN MY COMMUNITY. THERE'S BEEN TIMES I'VE BEEN GOING TO THE STORE, AND I SEE PEOPLE WHO COME IN TO THE COFFEE SHOP AND IT'S JUST IT'S BEEN GREAT TO GET THAT EXPERIENCE IN HIGH SCHOOL. I FEEL LIKE I'M ABLE TO REALLY CAPITALIZE ON MY HIGH SCHOOL EXPERIENCE SO THAT I CAN BE PREPARED.

WHEN I DO LEAVE HIGH SCHOOL, I HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF EXPERIENCE WITH TIME MANAGEMENT AND HOW TO COMMUNICATE WITH MY BOSS AND WHAT PAID

[01:00:10]

TIME OFF REALLY IS, AND THINGS LIKE THAT. AND YEAH, THE LADIES WHO RUN IT MAKE IT VERY EASY TO COMMUNICATE WITH THEM AND NAVIGATE THE PROGRAM. AND IT'S ACCESSIBLE. AND IT'S JUST BEEN A FANTASTIC OPPORTUNITY.

AND I COULD NOT BE MORE GRATEFUL FOR IT. WHERE ARE YOU DOING YOUR INTERNSHIP? I'M WORKING AT FOUNDERS MERCANTILE ON MAIN STREET.

IT'S A LITTLE COFFEE SHOP. IT'S RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FROM DEB'S, IF YOU KNOW WHERE THAT'S AT.

YEAH. FANTASTIC. THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE. THANK YOU, ANNALISE.

AND THEN I HAVE DEREK HUEGEL AND GAVIN HOFFMAN ARE GOING TO COME UP AND SPEAK.

AND DEREK IS THE OWNER OF WOLFE INDUSTRIES, AND GAVIN WORKS WITH HIM.

LET'S GO. HEY, DID YOU HEAR THAT ONE? I TOLD GAVIN I'D COME UP HERE AND HERE AND CHAT WITH YOU GUYS.

SO THEY ASKED US TO COME TELL OUR STORY AND THAT'S WHAT WE'RE GOING TO DO.

I GUESS MINE STARTS OUT WITH MR. DOYLE BACK THERE IN THE CAREER AND TECHNICAL CTE CLASS, WE WENT DOWN THERE AT THE HIGH SCHOOL, AND BEFORE THAT. WELL, I'LL START OUT MY LITTLE STORY, A TWO SECOND PITCH HERE.

WHEN I WAS 5 OR 6 YEARS OLD. GRANDPA'S WOODSHOP DOWN IN THE BASEMENT.

ALL HIS EXTRA NAILS. HERE YOU GO. TAKE IT AND RUN WITH IT.

AND WE WERE ALWAYS TINKERING AND BANGING AND POUNDING ON STUFF.

SO IN HIGH SCHOOL, I TOOK THAT CLASS AND IT SAID THAT I SHOULD BE A BUSINESS OWNER OR A CARPENTER.

I SAID, SHOOT, WHY DON'T WE DO BOTH AND THE SAME DAY? I DOWNLOADED THE APPLICATION. I KID YOU NOT, I'M 15 YEARS OLD IN HIGH SCHOOL AND I FILLED IT OUT.

I'M LIKE, WHAT DO I DO FOR A BUSINESS NAME? AND MOM, DAD HAD A WOLF COOKTOP.

SO SITTING AT THE COUNTER TOP AND LIKE, I DON'T WANT MY NAME.

THERE'S TAP INTO CONSTRUCTION OR TAPPING THE UNDERGROUND.

THERE'S ROCKY, THERE'S NUTTER, THERE'S KERR, ALL THESE BIG NAMES WITH THEIR NAME.

SO WE SAID, WHAT IF WE DO EAGLE CONSTRUCTION? IT WAS A LITTLE BIT LOFTY. SO THAT'S NOT COPY THE EMBLEM OF THE UNITED STATES.

LET'S GO. COYOTE CONSTRUCTION. THAT'S WAY WORSE.

SO I SAID, WHAT IF WE JUST. WHAT IF WE PLAGIARIZE AND SAY WOLF.

SO THAT'S HOW THE WOLF INDUSTRY'S GOT ITS NAME IS FROM THE WOLF OR THE COOKTOP.

SO STOOD FOR QUALITY. AND I WANTED SOMETHING THAT WOULD STICK AROUND FOR A WHILE TO BE, YOU KNOW, DOWN THE ROAD. BUT YEAH, FAST FORWARD AND NOW WE'RE IN BATTLE GROUND ACROSS THE STREET FROM TAFFANY, RIGHT ON EATON BOULEVARD, AND WE BUILD SMALL MODULAR HOMES.

AND IT'S CRITICAL TO HAVE THIS RELATIONSHIP WITH THE HIGH SCHOOL.

I WROTE DOWN SOME NOTES HERE ON WHAT MY THOUGHTS WERE FOR THIS CTE INVOLVEMENT AND KIND OF SOME BACKSTORY. JOHN GERRARD, MANY OF YOU HAVE PROBABLY HEARD OF WHAT HE'S BEEN DOING AND HELPING OUT WITH THE ADVISORY BOARDS AND GETTING ALL THE SCHOOLS INVOLVED.

IT'S BEEN IT'S BEEN HUGE. BUT THESE GIVE OUR OPTIONS, GIVE OPTIONS FOR OUR YOUNGER GENERATION TO GET ON TRACK IN LIFE SOONER THAN LATER.

PETER, THE SUPERINTENDENT UP AT LA CENTER, HAD A GREAT COINED PHRASE OF GRADE 13.

WHAT ARE OUR PLANS FOR OUR STUDENTS AT AGE, YOU KNOW, SENIOR, THAT THEY'RE GOING FOR THAT GRADE 13 AND HAVE OPTIONS FOR THEM OTHER THAN COLLEGE.

SO THE CTE IS THE IS I THINK, THE ANSWER TO THAT.

YEAH. THE NEXT NOTE, THERE IS JUST OPTIONS FOR THOSE STUDENTS THAT AREN'T GOING TO COLLEGE. OJT, ON THE JOB TRAINING IS CRITICAL. ONE OF THE BIGGEST THINGS FOR US IS IT OFFERS L AND I COVERAGE FOR OUR STUDENTS THAT ARE YOUNGER THAN 18.

SO GAVIN HERE BE 18. I DON'T THINK SO. BUT HE'S WHAT YOU ARE.

YOU'RE EIGHTEEN, THERE YOU GO. BUT YEAH, THEY CAN USE POWER TOOLS AND ALL THESE THINGS THAT ARE OTHERWISE RESTRICTED.

SO IT'S VERY CRITICAL FOR US TO KEEP OUR STUDENTS ENROLLED.

WHICH BRINGS ME TO THE NEXT THING IS, WE REALLY APPRECIATE THE SCHOOL BOARD KEEPING THAT POSITION FOR THE DIRECTORS DURING THE SUMMER, BECAUSE OTHERWISE WE HAVE A LAPSE IN ILLINOIS PREMIUM COVERAGE.

SO I THINK THAT DECISION IS MADE AT THIS LEVEL, IF I'M NOT MISTAKEN.

IS THAT IS THAT TRUE? SO THANK YOU FOR THAT. THAT THAT'S BIG TIME.

HELPS US KEEP KEEP THINGS WORKING IN THE SUMMERTIME.

A WISH LIST IS, I THINK, NICK, I SAW NICK IN THE AUDIENCE HERE IS TO DISCUSS AND START LOOKING AT GETTING SOME LEVEL OF APPRENTICESHIP OPTIONS AT AN EARLIER LEVEL. I DON'T KNOW THE ANSWERS TO THAT, BUT I JUST WANT TO VOICE THAT.

THAT IF WE DO, THAT'S ANOTHER ROUTE TO GET ILLINOIS PREMIUMS COVERED IF THEY ARE ENROLLED.

APPRENTICESHIPS ARE SCHOOLS, RIGHT? WHY CAN'T WE AT BATTLE GROUND SCHOOL DISTRICT START LOOKING AT SOME OF THOSE OPTIONS AND HAVING THAT DISCUSSION?

[01:05:03]

AND THEN I HAVE ANOTHER ONE HERE, AND WE'LL BRING IT UP IN A, IN A POSITIVE GROWTH MINDSET.

I LOVE HER AND I DIDN'T CATCH YOUR NAME. [INAUDIBLE] BUT WHEN WE HAVE THESE ADVISORY BOARDS AND WE HAVE ADVICE COMING FROM THE ADVISORS ON THESE ADVISORY BOARDS, WE'RE GETTING SOME ROADBLOCKS, LET'S JUST SAY ON THE TEACHER LEVEL, ON WHAT THEY'RE CAPABLE AND WILLING TO PUT FORTH AND TEACH.

THERE IS A BIG PUSH FOR SOME ELECTRICAL AND HVAC AND SOME OF THE MORE TECHNICAL STUFF, INTRODUCTORY STUFF, AND WE'RE NOT GETTING TRACTION ON THAT. SO IF THAT CAN BE A DISCUSSION THAT WE CAN START AT THIS LEVEL AS WELL, THAT'D BE FANTASTIC. THESE GALS BACK HERE ARE 100% ON BOARD, PUSHING, ROWING HARD, EVERYBODY IN THE SAME DIRECTION.

IT'S JUST AT THAT THE BOOTS ON THE GROUND, WE BRING IT UP.

HEY, THIS IS WHAT WE'D LIKE TO SEE. JUST HAVE THAT CONVERSATION.

START MOVING THAT BALL IN THE FORWARD DIRECTION. SO THANK YOU ALL FOR WHAT YOU'VE DONE AT THE SCHOOL BOARD LEVEL.

WE REALLY APPRECIATE WHAT YOU'VE DONE. GAVIN.

HELLO, I'M GAVIN HOFFMAN. I'M A SENIOR AT BATTLE GROUND HIGH SCHOOL INVOLVED IN THE WORK BASED LEARNING PROGRAM.

I CURRENTLY WORK AT WOLFF INDUSTRIES. RIGHT NOW.

THE BEST THING THAT I LIKE ABOUT MY JOB IS PROBABLY THE PEOPLE I WORK WITH.

VERY ENCOURAGING AND ALWAYS THERE TO HELP ME WHEN I MAKE A MISTAKE.

FUTURE PLANS IS TO STAY AT WOLFF AND HOPEFULLY MOVE UP INTO THE ELECTRICAL PROGRAM.

AND WHAT IS HELPING ME DOING THAT? WHAT IS HELPING ME DO THAT IS THE WORK BASED LEARNING PROGRAM OF GETTING THAT, GETTING TO LEAVE SCHOOL TWO HOURS EARLY TO GET MORE HOURS WITH THE TEAM INSTEAD OF ONLY THE NIGHT SHIFT. THE DAY CREW. THANK YOU. YOU GUYS HAVE ANY QUESTIONS FOR THE WOLF INDUSTRIES CREW? THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO. YES. THANK YOU. IT'S NICE TO HEAR FROM YOU GUYS TOO.

YES. CONGRATULATIONS. GOOD JOB. THANK YOU. YEAH.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU SO MUCH. AND THEN KATIE BAUER.

HI. I'M KATIE BAUER, AND I STARTED WORK BASED LEARNING WHEN I WAS 16 YEARS OLD.

I GOT MY FIRST JOB AT DETROIT PIZZA. WORK BASED LEARNING WAS REALLY GREAT FOR ME BECAUSE I GOT TO LEAVE SCHOOL EARLY, AND SCHOOL WASN'T THE BEST FOR ME. I WASN'T REALLY GREAT IN THE CLASSROOM.

I FELT LIKE EVERY TEACHER WAS KIND OF MOVING PAST ME, AND I WASN'T QUITE GETTING IT LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE.

AND I REMEMBER GETTING A JOB AT DETROIT PIZZA.

FIRST JOB. AND I JUST WANTED TO BE GREAT AT SOMETHING.

AND I REMEMBER PUTTING MY ALL INTO WORK AND JUST REALLY APPRECIATING WHAT DEBBIE AND CHRIS DID FOR ME, MEETING WITH ME, SETTING GOALS WITH ME AND MY EMPLOYER AT THE TIME MOVING FORWARD.

I WAS 16, NOW I'M 23. I AM PART OWNER OF DETROIT PIZZA AND I WORK WITH STUDENTS 16 TO 18, GETTING CREDITS FOR WORKING AND ACTUALLY APPRECIATING AND LOVING WHAT THEY DO. I NOW OWN TWO HOUSES.

I JUST OPENED A SECOND LOCATION OUT IN CAMAS, AND I.

I REALLY THINK THAT A LOT OF STUDENTS ARE LIKE ME AND DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY WANT TO DO.

THEY KNOW THEY DON'T WANT TO GO TO COLLEGE, BUT THEY WANT TO FEEL LIKE THEY CAN ACTUALLY ACCOMPLISH SOMETHING AND BE AND BE THEIR OWN BOSS. SO, I MEAN, I NOW WORK WITH DEBBIE AND CHRIS, WITH THE STUDENTS AND TEAMMATES WITH ME AND YEAH, I JUST SEE EXCELLENT RESULTS WITH THAT. DO YOU GUYS HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? THAT'S GREAT. LOVE YOUR STORY. KATIE, I LOVE YOUR STORY.

THANK YOU, KATIE, SO MUCH. AND THEN LAST BUT NOT LEAST, ADRIAN TORRES. HI. HOW ARE YOU DOING? GOOD. GOOD. HI. MY NAME IS ADRIAN TORRES. I'M 18 YEARS OLD, AND I'M A STUDENT AT BATTLE GROUND HIGH SCHOOL.

I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE A FEW MINUTES AND TALK ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE OF WORK BASED LEARNING AND MY GOALS IN LIFE.

WORK BASED LEARNING HAS NOT ONLY GIVEN ME A, WORK-BASED LEARNING IS NOT ONLY GIVING ME THE HIGH SCHOOL CREDITS, BUT ALSO REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE. AND BECOMING A RESIDENTIAL ELECTRICIAN.

I'M SORRY, JUST ONE GOAL THAT I HAVE IN LIFE IS ONE DAY TO OWN MY OWN BUSINESS AND THE ELECTRICAL INDUSTRY.

[01:10:06]

IN ORDER FOR THAT GOAL TO BECOME A REALITY, I AM CURRENTLY WORKING AT ADVANTAGE ENERGY SOLUTIONS AND WORKING ON MY OH TWO RESIDENTIAL LICENSE.

I'M VERY GRATEFUL TO JOIN WORK BASED LEARNING AND THE GREAT OPPORTUNITIES THAT HAS GIVEN ME AND MY FUTURE.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. GOOD JOB ADRIAN.

THANK YOU SO MUCH, YOU GUYS, FOR BEING HERE TONIGHT.

AND EVERY STORY IS DIFFERENT AND EVERY STORY IS PRETTY AMAZING.

NICK, YOU HAD YOUR HAND UP. THANK YOU. I WOULD LIKE TO THANK SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS. WE GOT TOGETHER WITH DENNY JOHN GERARD, AND I DID LAST TIME TO HELP PASS THE LAST LEVY, AND WE'RE GOING TO HAVE A CONSTRUCTION BUILDING BUILT. AND WITHOUT THE LEADERSHIP OF DENNY, I DON'T KNOW IF THAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. AND ALSO, I JUST WANT TO SAY CHRIS AND DEBBIE AND EVERYBODY IN THEIR GROUP IS WONDERFUL.

I HAVE ONE STORY TO SHARE. THERE'S A GUY SITTING IN THE BACK.

HIS SON CAME TO WORK FOR US. AS HE WAS WALKING OUT, I SAID, WE HAVE A C AVERAGE YOU GOT TO ATTEND TO.

AND HE LOOKED BACK AND ON THE WAY OUT AND SAID, RIGHT NOW I SAID, IS THAT A PROBLEM? HE SAID, YES, THAT'S A PROBLEM. I SAID, HOW ABOUT WE LOOK AT IT A SEMESTER? HE SAID, OKAY, I'LL DO THAT. SO HIS DAD CALLED ME WHEN HE GOT HOME. WHAT YOU DO TO MY KID? HE'S DOING HIS HOMEWORK NOW.

SO, THESE KIDS HAVE GOALS TO ATTAIN TO. IT'LL HELP THEM WITH THE SCHOOL, WITH THEIR SCHOOLWORK, TOO. SO THAT'S ALL I WANTED TO SAY ABOUT THAT.

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO. THANK YOU. APPRECIATE IT. THANK YOU AGAIN TO AGAIN TO EVERYBODY WHO SPOKE AND ALL OF OUR INDUSTRY PARTNERS WHO WORK WITH US.

I HAVE JUST ANOTHER COUPLE SLIDES. JUST A REMINDER, THE INDUSTRY FAIR IS FEBRUARY 20TH THIS YEAR.

AND AGAIN, A LOT OF OUR PARTNERS ARE THERE. AND THEN WE HAVE JUST SOME PICTURES HERE THAT SOME OF THE THINGS THAT WE TALKED ABOUT TONIGHT.

POP FOR A PLAN IS UP THERE. THE GRADE 13 EVENT THAT WAS MENTIONED.

AND THESE ARE JUST, YOU KNOW, YOU CAN SEE THAT PEOPLE ARE HAVING A GOOD TIME.

FOURTH GRADE CAREER FAIR, APPRENTICESHIP SIGNING DAY. AND IT'S JUST REALLY GREAT TO HAVE THESE CONNECTIONS FOR OUR STUDENTS AND CONNECTIONS FROM OUR LOCAL BUSINESS AND PARTNER BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY PARTNERS. SO THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH FOR LISTENING TO A LITTLE BIT ABOUT CTE.

I JUST ALSO WANT TO SAY THANK YOU. I SEE DEBBIE AND CHRIS AND KEVIN AND ALL THE WORK THAT YOU DO TO KEEP EVERYTHING MONITORED AND HELP OUR STUDENTS MAKE THOSE CONNECTIONS. JUST GREATLY APPRECIATE THE THREE OF YOU AND THE WORK THAT YOU'RE DOING TO MAKE THAT.

SO JUST THANKS. THANK YOU. TIME FOR A QUESTION.

YEAH. I PROMISE I'M NOT GOING TO INTERRUPT YOU.

OKAY. LAST TIME LAST YEAR I INTERRUPTED YOU WHEN YOU WERE ANSWERING ONE OF MY QUESTIONS.

I FELT SO EMBARRASSED. NO, THAT'S BATTLE GROUND HIGH SCHOOL HAS 225 KIDS INVOLVED.

PRAIRIE HAS 40. SO I HATE TO READ INTO ANYTHING IN THAT, BUT WHY IS THAT? WHY IS THERE NOT MORE AT PRAIRIE? WELL, WE ACTUALLY HAVE INCREASED QUITE A BIT AT PRAIRIE.

IT USED TO BE TWO. SO DEBBIE AND CHRIS AND THEY WERE ON MY LAST SLIDE.

AND I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO THANK DEBBIE, CHRIS AND KEVIN FOR BEING HERE TONIGHT AND FOR HELPING ME PUT THIS TOGETHER.

BUT SO WE ARE WE ARE TALKING A LOT OF IT IS, YOU KNOW, WE WORK WITH OUR COUNSELORS.

THERE NEEDS TO BE THE WORD THAT GETS OUT TO OUR STUDENTS.

AND SO THAT IS MORE AND MORE BECOMING MORE OF THE CULTURE.

AND BATTLE GROUND HAS HAD THAT CULTURE FOR A LONG TIME.

SO THAT'S PART OF THE REASON.

THANK YOU. AND CAN WE DO ANY OF THE BOARD MEMBERS HAVE OTHER QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS? NO, THAT WAS GREAT. OKAY. THANK YOU. WELL, I JUST WANT TO I DO WANT TO SAY EVERY YEAR YOU BRING US A REPORT THAT BRINGS THIS PROGRAM ALIVE TO US BECAUSE WE SUPPORT IT FULLY, BUT WE DON'T KNOW EVERYTHING THAT'S GOING ON.

AND EVERY YEAR YOU BRING US SOMETHING THAT, AND SO I JUST WANT TO SAY IT'S WONDERFUL TO HEAR THE STORIES FROM DEREK AND KATIE

[01:15:04]

ABOUT THEIR OWN EXPERIENCE AND HOW THAT PLAYED OUT.

AND I REALLY APPRECIATE THAT. THOSE ARE THE STORIES THAT I ALWAYS WANT TO GO AND TELL OTHER PEOPLE ABOUT OUR CTE PROGRAMS, BECAUSE I KNOW WE HAVE THE BEST CTE PROGRAMS IN THE STATE.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. WELL DONE.

DENNY, I'M SORRY. I GOT TO ASK YOU. I SENT YOU A TEXT AND AN EMAIL TRYING NOT TO ASK YOU THIS PUBLICLY, BUT I WANT TO KNOW. I GOT TO KNOW, YOU KNOW, SO I'M JUST GOING TO EXPRESS MY IGNORANCE.

I'M CONCERNED IF WE DON'T PASS THIS REPLACEMENT LEVY THAT SOMETHING WILL HAPPEN TO OUR CTE PROGRAMS. TERRY, CTE IS FUNDED, WELL FUNDED BY THE STATE.

OKAY. SO WHILE IT WOULDN'T HAVE A DIRECT IMPACT ON OUR ABILITY TO OFFER PROGRAMS, IT THEY DO ACCESS CTE MONEY IN TERMS OF PROVIDING EXTRA SUPPORTS IN CLASSROOMS AND, YOU KNOW, EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES, STATE COMPETITIONS, THOSE TYPES OF THINGS.

BUT THE OVERALL IMPACT TO OUR CTE PROGRAMS WOULD BE AND I KNOW YOU'VE CLEARLY WRITTEN UP WHAT IT IS, BUT I JUST THIS WAS WANTED TO ASK ABOUT THAT.

SO I APOLOGIZE. GOOD QUESTION. NO, IT'S A WONDERFUL PROGRAM.

ALL RIGHT. THAT'S IT. THAT'S IT FOR TEACHING AND LEARNING.

MOVING UP NEXT, WE DON'T HAVE AN HR REPORT. SO WE'RE GOING TO SLIDE RIGHT INTO OUR CFO AND FINANCE REPORT.

TO START OFF THE EVENING, WE ARE GOING TO BRING UP CHARTWELLS AND THEY'RE GOING TO PROVIDE A UPDATE ON OUR NUTRITION SERVICES PROGRAM. I'M GOING TO GIVE THEM APPLAUSE AT THE BEGINNING BECAUSE I THINK THEY'VE BEEN DOING A GOOD JOB. SO I DON'T NEED TO HEAR THE REPORT.

DO YOU WANT ME TO JUST SAY I'M VERY PLEASED? WELL.

THANK YOU. I APPRECIATE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO GIVE WHAT I'LL CALL A MID-YEAR UPDATE, ALTHOUGH WE'RE NOT QUITE TO THAT POINT YET.

I DO WANT TO THANK MICHELLE SCOTT. SHE'S OUR KEY LIAISON WITH THE DISTRICT.

SHE'S BEEN A GREAT GUIDE AND SUPPORT FOR US AND JUST COACHING US THROUGH, YOU KNOW, THIS TRANSITION.

AND WHAT I WANT TO DO IS JUST, YOU KNOW, KIND OF SHARE SOME OF THE KEY ASPECTS OF WHAT THAT TRANSITION HAS LOOKED LIKE AND SOME OF THE THINGS THAT WE'VE BEEN FOCUSED ON ALL OF THE STAFF AND THE FOOD SERVICE DEPARTMENT WORK DIRECTLY FOR CHARTWELLS, AND THEY WORK FOR THE PRIOR COMPANY.

AND SO WE HAD TO HIRE THEM. BASICALLY, IT WAS LIKE HIRING, YOU KNOW, 65 EMPLOYEES.

AND AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, THERE'S QUITE A LOT INVOLVED IN THAT PROCESS JUST TO GET THAT MANY PEOPLE INVOLVED IN ONBOARDED AND DO THAT QUICKLY.

WE HAD TO CHANGE OVER ALL THE SIGNAGE OF THE PREVIOUS COMPANY, TOOK OUT MOST OF THEIR SIGNS, BUT THERE WAS A FEW THINGS LEFT THAT TOOK TIME TO REMOVE, LIKE CONTACT PAPER AND STUFF LIKE THAT.

THAT WAS PRETTY WELL STUCK. AND SO, YOU KNOW, THERE WAS A FAIR AMOUNT OF TIME IN JUST WHAT WE CALL CHANGING THE ENVIRONMENTS AND JUST DOING A REFRESH AND MAKING IT SO IT LOOKS DIFFERENT, YOU KNOW? SO WHEN THE STUDENTS CAME THROUGH TO HAVE A MEAL, THEY NOTICED THAT SOMETHING IS HAS CHANGED.

A LOT OF, YOU KNOW, NUTS AND BOLTS OF OUR PROGRAM ARE AROUND THE MENU, THE RECIPES, THE VENDORS THAT WE USE, THE ORDERING PROCEDURES, THE INVENTORY. YOU KNOW, I LIST ALL THAT BECAUSE FROM A MANAGEMENT STANDPOINT, THAT'S WHERE A LOT OF OUR TIME WAS SPENT, NOT JUST GETTING IT IN PLACE FROM OUR END, BUT MAKING SURE THAT THE STAFF WERE TRAINED AND, YOU KNOW, UTILIZING THOSE SYSTEMS CORRECTLY. AND THEN WE USE A COUPLE OF THIRD PARTY SOFTWARE PROGRAMS, NEUTRAL SITES AND WEB IN THERE. THE CHILD NUTRITION PROGRAM IS PRETTY COMPLEX IN TERMS OF COMPLYING WITH ALL THE REQUIREMENTS.

AND SO, YOU KNOW, WE PUT TOGETHER A MENU AND WE PLUG IT ALL INTO THIS PROGRAM CALLED WEB.

AND THEN THAT WILL TELL US, YOU KNOW, HEY, YOU'RE SHORT OF LEGUMES THE THIRD WEEK OF JANUARY.

SO THEN WE GOT TO GO BACK IN AND PUT MORE LEGUMES IN OR IT'LL SAY, YOU KNOW YOU'RE GREEN LEAFY VEGETABLES ARE SHORT.

YOU KNOW, IT'S VERY PRECISE AROUND A LOT OF THAT.

AND THE PROGRAM VERY MUCH HELPS US GET ALL THAT IN PLACE.

WE STARTED WITH A MEET AND GREET KICK OFF MEETING, WHICH TOOK PLACE LIKE IN THE MIDDLE OF JULY, AND I WAS QUITE SURPRISED. ALMOST ALL OF THE ASSOCIATES SHOWED UP.

I THINK THEY WERE A LITTLE NERVOUS ABOUT THE CHANGE, AND YOU KNOW HOW IT WAS GOING TO IMPACT THEIR JOB.

AND SO THAT BROUGHT THEM IN FOR SURE. AND THEN WE BEGAN THAT PROCESS OF ONBOARDING THE ASSOCIATES WE HIRED.

THERE WAS ABOUT 60 THAT CAME ON BOARD. WE HAD TO THE EMPLOYEES ARE REPRESENTED BY THE TEAMSTERS UNION.

[01:20:01]

AND SO WE HAD TO SIT DOWN AND NEGOTIATE A LABOR AGREEMENT, AND WE WERE ABLE TO DO THAT PRETTY QUICKLY.

IT WAS A FOUR YEAR CONTRACT WHICH STARTED WITH THE BEGINNING OF THE SCHOOL YEAR.

SO THAT TOOK A LITTLE BIT OF TIME, BUT IT WAS YOU KNOW, GOOD PROCESS FOR US TO WORK THROUGH AND MAKE SURE THAT FINANCIALLY, YOU KNOW, WE HAD A GOOD CONTRACT SET WITH THE EMPLOYEES.

WE HAD SEVERAL NEW OPEN POSITIONS. WE HIRED. ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE HEARD DURING THE MEET AND GREET WAS THAT THE ORIENTATION PROCESS AND THE SUB COVERAGE AND THAT WHOLE THING AROUND LABOR AND MAKING SURE THAT POSITIONS WERE FILLED WHEN PEOPLE WERE OUT NEEDED SOME WORK.

AND SO WE PUT A LOT OF TIME TOWARDS SOME PROCESSES AND PROCEDURES TO IMPROVE ON THAT.

AND I DO BELIEVE THAT WE'VE ACHIEVED THAT. WE'VE HIRED 14 NEW PEOPLE SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR, AND NINE OF OUR STAFF HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PROMOTE, YOU KNOW, LIKE FROM A LOWER LEVEL POSITION INTO UPPER, YOU KNOW, LEVEL POSITIONS WITHIN THE PROGRAM.

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE DID, AND LAURA WILL TALK ABOUT IT IS A MASTER CULINARY CLASS.

AND, YOU KNOW, WE DID THAT PURPOSELY TO MAKE SURE THAT, YOU KNOW, THE STAFF WERE COMFORTABLE WITH OUR RECIPES AND THE CHANGES IN THE MENU.

WE HAD 18 OF OUR COOKS AND KEY LEADS THAT WENT THROUGH THAT PROGRAM, AND I THINK IT WAS REALLY HELPFUL TO PUT THEM AT EASE AND JUST GET OFF TO A GOOD START WHERE YOU KNOW THEY'RE COMFORTABLE IN THE KITCHEN.

SO WE WENT INTO THE KITCHEN AND YOU KNOW, SPENT TIME WITH THEM IN THE TRANSITION.

AND THEN WE ALSO DID SOME TRAINING WITH ALL OF THE ASSOCIATES AROUND ALLERGENS.

AND YOU KNOW, THAT'S A KEY THING THAT WE HAVE TO DO EVERY YEAR.

AND OF COURSE WE HAVE TO DO CIVIL RIGHTS TRAINING.

SO WE DID THAT WITH ALL THE STAFF AS WELL. AND ANOTHER THING THAT WE HEARD DURING THE MEET AND GREET WAS THAT THE COMMUNICATION WITH THE STAFF, THAT THERE WAS SOME GAPS IN THAT. AND SO WE LAID OUT A PLAN, THE WHOLE MANAGEMENT TEAM AND OUR LEADS IN THE KITCHENS AS WELL TO JUST, YOU KNOW, HAVE REGULAR COMMUNICATION, WHETHER IT'S IN WRITING OR UPDATES THAT WE SEND OUT.

WE DO TEAM CALLS, WHICH WAS SOMETHING I THINK THAT STARTED DURING THE PANDEMIC.

BUT WE, YOU KNOW, PICKED UP ON THAT AND CONTINUE WITH THAT AS WELL.

WE DO A WEEKLY SAFETY MINDER, A WEEKLY TEAM WRITTEN UPDATE EVERY MONDAY.

THEY, YOU KNOW, THEY OPEN UP THEIR OUTLOOK AND OR EMAIL AND, YOU KNOW, THERE IT IS IN TERMS OF AN UPDATE FOR THE WEEK.

WE HAVE MONTHLY MEETINGS WITH ALL THE STAFF TO GET UPDATES AND FEEDBACK ON THE MENU AND WHAT'S WORKING AND WHAT, YOU KNOW, WE NEED TO CHANGE. AND THEN WE'VE BEEN MEETING WITH THE UNION QUARTERLY TO GET, YOU KNOW, MAKE SURE WE HAVE GOOD MANAGEMENT RELATIONS WITH THEM.

DO A NEWSLETTER. YOU SEE AN EXAMPLE OF THAT? WE'VE GOT A FOOD SAFETY CERTIFICATION TRAINING COMING UP HERE IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS.

AND THEN JUST SOME FUN STUFF TO KIND OF BUILD CAMARADERIE AND TEAMWORK WITHIN THE GROUP.

WE HAD A GREAT TEAM HOLIDAY EVENT, AND WE'LL DO ANOTHER EVENT TOWARDS THE END OF THE YEAR.

AND THEN CHARTWELLS DOES THIS GREAT TEARS PROGRAM WHERE, YOU KNOW, WE AS A MANAGEMENT TEAM AND THE ASSOCIATES IN THE KITCHENS CAN RECOGNIZE THEIR PEERS FOR A JOB WELL DONE. AND THERE'S KIND OF A LITTLE FORMAL PROCESS WITH IT, BUT IT'S WELL RECEIVED.

AND THEN LAURA IS LAURA'S GOING TO TALK ABOUT SOME OF THE MARKETING PROGRAMS. SO LIKE RUSS SAID, WE DID DO THIS MASTER CULINARY CLASS. OUR REGIONAL EXECUTIVE CHEF CAME IN AND WORKED WITH OUR DISTRICT CHEF TO REALLY GET ALL OF OUR STAFF COMFORTABLE, STARTING WITH EVERYTHING FROM BASIC KITCHEN SKILLS AND KNIFE SKILLS ALL THE WAY THROUGH HOW TO INTERPRET A RECIPE, AND THE TECHNICAL TERMINOLOGY THAT IS IN A RECIPE.

BECAUSE WE ARE FEDERALLY REGULATED, OUR RECIPES ARE VERY STRICT AND YOU CANNOT DEVIATE FROM THEM.

SO IT'S REALLY, REALLY GOOD TO BE ABLE TO INTERPRET A RECIPE ACCURATELY.

AND THEN EVERYONE THAT WAS PART OF THAT PROGRAM GOT TO GRADUATE FROM IT.

AND I AND I THINK IT REALLY HELPED TO KIND OF SET EVERYONE'S MINDS AT EASE AND FEEL LIKE THIS VERY HOME COOKED FROM SCRATCH PROGRAM THAT WE RUN HERE WAS NOT GOING TO BE SOMETHING THAT WAS INTIMIDATED. THEY GOT TO TASTE THE FOOD. THEY GOT TO BE EXCITED ABOUT THE FOOD.

AND THEY GOT TO REALIZE THAT THIS WAS GOING TO BE A VERY DOABLE BUT REWARDING NEW MENU TO SERVE.

THESE ARE OUR ENVIRONMENTS. SO THIS IS OUR MARKET ENVIRONMENT.

AND IT IS DESIGNED TO BE REALLY MODERN AND REALLY WELCOMING, BUT TO NOT DISTRACT FROM THE MAIN EVENT, WHICH IS OF COURSE THE FOOD. SO A LOT OF VERY, VERY CLEAR MENU SIGNAGE.

SO IT'S VERY OBVIOUS WHAT IS WHAT IS BEING SERVED THAT DAY SO THAT STUDENTS IN LINE CAN START MAKING THOSE DECISIONS BEFORE THEY GET UP THERE.

AND THEN A VERY CLEAN AND INVITING ENVIRONMENT FOR THAT FOOD TO BE SERVED IN.

SO THIS GETS US INTO OUR STUDENT PROGRAMS, WHICH IS PROBABLY THE MOST FUN PART OF MY JOB.

SO WE STARTED OUT WITH STUDENT CHOICE IN NOVEMBER, AND THIS IS A PROGRAM WHERE STUDENTS GET TO VOTE ON THINGS IN THEIR SCHOOLS,

[01:25:07]

AND IT'S A SCALABLE PROGRAM FOR AGE. SO YOU CAN SEE THERE WE'VE GOT LITTLE FINN THERE IN THE CORNER.

THE ELEMENTARY STUDENTS GOT TO VOTE ON THEIR FAVORITE SHAPE OF PIZZA BECAUSE IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.

THERE'S SQUARE PIZZA AND THEN THERE'S TRIANGLE PIZZA.

SO THIS WAS REALLY, REALLY EASY. AND EVERYONE FROM TK ALL THE WAY UP TO FOURTH GRADE GOT TO BE PART OF THIS.

AND THEY OVERWHELMINGLY VOTED FOR TRIANGLE PIZZA.

SO STARTING ON THE FIRST FRIDAY OF 2025, TRIANGLE PIZZA CAME BACK TO THE SCHOOL.

SO THE STUDENTS GET TO SEE THEIR VOICE IN ACTION.

THEY GET TO SEE THE CHANGES HAPPEN. OUR MIDDLE SCHOOLERS GOT TO DO A BALLOT VOTING, SO THEY VOTED ON THEIR TOP THREE FAVORITE ITEMS ON THE MENU TO SEE AT LUNCH. AND THEN WE PICKED THE TOP FIVE VOTES AND THEY HAVE BECOME PART OF THEIR MENU.

AND THAT STARTED ACTUALLY RIGHT BEFORE HOLIDAY BREAK.

PIZZA WAS THE WINNER IN THE MIDDLE SCHOOLS HAVE PIZZA EVERY DAY, BUT IT DID SEE THE RETURN OF CHICKEN ALFREDO AND CHICKEN NUGGETS FOR THE MIDDLE SCHOOL KIDS. WE RUN ANOTHER PROGRAM THAT THE HIGH SCHOOL KIDS WILL START GETTING TO VOTE ON WHICH WILL INVOLVE A LOT OF CULTURAL ITEMS BEING ADDED TO THE MENUS.

SO MOOD BOOST, WHICH WE HAVE A LITTLE SAMPLE SET UP.

THIS IS A PROGRAM WE RUN AT THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS, AND IT'S A VERY FUN ONE THAT IS, IT'S DESIGNED TO START CONNECTING KIDS WITH HOW FOOD AFFECTS HOW THEY FEEL. SO SOMETHING LIKE MAGNESIUM, WHICH HELPS US STAY ALERT BECAUSE IT HELPS TO FOCUS ALL THAT BRAIN ENERGY.

WE DO THIS IN THE MIDDLE SCHOOL OR IN THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS, AND WE'LL ACTUALLY GET A CHANCE TO DO THIS AT EVERY SINGLE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TWICE FOR THIS DISTRICT. SO WE GO IN, WE PASS AROUND SAMPLES.

EVERY CHILD IN THE CAFETERIA GETS TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS, WHETHER THEY'RE GETTING A SCHOOL LUNCH OR NOT.

WE PARTNER WITH SCHOOL NURSES TO AVOID ANY ALLERGEN EXPOSURES AND THINGS LIKE THAT.

BUT IT'S A REALLY GREAT WAY TO GET KIDS STARTING TO TALK ABOUT FOOD AND CONNECTING.

THAT FOOD IS MORE THAN JUST CALORIES AND SUSTENANCE, THAT IT DOES ACTUALLY AFFECT EVERY PART OF THEIR LIVES, AND IT HELPS TO DEVELOP THAT HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP WITH MAKING GOOD CHOICES.

AND THEN THIS IS WHAT THE HIGH SCHOOL KIDS ARE STARTING TO EXPERIENCE.

GLOBALEAKS IS A PROGRAM THAT'S DESIGNED WITH DIETITIANS AND CELEBRITY CHEFS.

WE DO SIX DIFFERENT PROGRAMS, SIX DIFFERENT COUNTRIES AND REGIONS WITH A CELEBRITY CHEF FROM EACH OF THOSE PLACES.

SO WE STARTED IN DECEMBER, AND THE HIGH SCHOOLS HAD A WEEK LONG TAKEOVER OF CARIBBEAN FOOD.

AT THE HIGH SCHOOLS, IT ALWAYS STARTS WITH THE THURSDAY AND FRIDAY PRIOR TO THE WEEK WE TAKE OVER THE CREATE STATION.

WE DO A SAMPLING EVENT AT EACH HIGH SCHOOL WHERE WE GO IN AND WE GIVE AWAY FREE SAMPLES OF WHATEVER'S GOING TO BE SERVED ON MONDAY TO TRY TO DRIVE THAT PARTICIPATION IN THAT MENU DISH. THESE ARE ALL THINGS THAT ARE COOKED FROM SCRATCH IN THE KITCHENS.

WE ARE DOING KOREA THIS WEEK ACTUALLY AT BATTLE GROUND IN PRAIRIE.

SO THE CREATE STATION HAS BEEN ALL KOREAN FOOD THIS WEEK.

WE WILL BE WILL BE DOING CHINA NEXT MONTH AND THEN INDIA, ITALY AND MEXICO TO FINISH OUT THE YEAR.

YEAH, THE MOOD BOOST AND THE GLOBAL EATS. YOU KNOW, THE APPROACH THAT WE'RE TAKING IS KIND OF LIKE THE COSTCO CONCEPT WHERE YOU GIVE THEM FREE SAMPLES AND, YOU KNOW, REDUCE THE BARRIERS AND THE FEAR AND YOU JUST KIND OF GIVE IT TO THEM, GET THEM TO TRY IT. AND WE'VE HAD GOOD SUCCESS WITH THAT AS A COMPANY.

AND, YOU KNOW, WITH THIS DISTRICT, I WANTED TO SHARE, YOU KNOW, JUST A LITTLE BIT OF DATA.

THE BREAKFAST MEAL COUNTS. OVERALL, WE'RE FEEDING JUST UNDER 1400 A DAY, 1375, WHICH IS ONLY 12.4% OF THE ENROLLED STUDENTS. AND THEN BUT WE ARE UP OVER LAST YEAR, ABOUT 7%, A LITTLE OVER SEVEN.

WHAT THE CHART SHOWS AT THE BOTTOM. I KNOW IT'S KIND OF HARD TO SEE, BUT THE BLUE IS THE PARTICIPATION AND THEN THE YELLOW SHOWS THOSE STUDENTS THAT ARE NOT PARTICIPATING BUT THAT ARE ENROLLED. AND WHAT WE LOOK AT IS BY SCHOOL, YOU KNOW, HOW MANY STUDENTS IN EACH SCHOOL DO WE ARE WE, YOU KNOW, ARE POTENTIAL EATERS THAT WE'RE NOT CURRENTLY FEEDING.

AND THE TWO SCHOOLS AT THE TOP ARE BATTLE GROUND AND PRAIRIE.

AND THEN THE TWO K-8S DAYBREAK AND TUKES. AND YOU KNOW, WHAT'S KIND OF DIFFICULT ABOUT THAT IS BECAUSE OF THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS AND CLASSES THAT ARE GOING THROUGH, AND THEY ALL FEED THROUGH ONE CAFETERIA, AND ONE KITCHEN IS WE SERVE MIDDLE SCHOOL LUNCHES AT LIKE TEN, 10 A.M.. AND YOU KNOW WHO'S HUNGRY FOR LUNCH THAT EARLY, RIGHT? SO WE'VE TALKED ABOUT SOME IDEAS WHERE WE CAN PUT TOGETHER SOME MEALS WHERE MAYBE THEY DON'T EAT IT RIGHT THEN, BUT IT'S A QUALIFYING MEAL AND THEY CAN PUT IT IN THEIR BACKPACK AND THEY CAN EAT IT LATER IN THE AFTERNOON WHEN THEY ARE HUNGRY.

[01:30:05]

MAYBE THEY GET SOMETHING, YOU KNOW, DURING THE LUNCH PERIOD, BUT THEY EAT, YOU KNOW, HAVE SOMETHING ELSE TO SNACK ON LATER IN THE DAY.

SO WE'RE PUTTING THAT TOGETHER RIGHT NOW. THAT I CAN SEE BEING VERY POPULAR AT DAYBREAK AND TUKES VALLEY AS WELL.

AND THEN THERE'S SOME OTHER SCHOOLS LIKE CHIEF AND YACOLT AND THE BREAKFAST, YOU KNOW, THERE'S JUST SOME CHALLENGES WITH, YOU KNOW, BUSSING AND SUPERVISION AND GETTING THE KIDS IN INTO THE SCHOOLS AND HAVING AN ENVIRONMENT WHERE THEY CAN EAT BREAKFAST AND FEEL COMFORTABLE DOING THAT, THAT SCHOOL BY SCHOOL. WE NEED TO LOOK AT AND, YOU KNOW, ANALYZE THOSE OPPORTUNITIES AND, YOU KNOW, TRY TO FIGURE OUT AN INROAD FOR FEEDING MORE OF THOSE STUDENTS.

AND THEN, YOU KNOW, THE SAME APPROACH ON LUNCH, WE'RE FEEDING A HIGHER PERCENTAGE 40%.

AND THAT'S UP ABOUT A LITTLE OVER 5%, 5.5 OVER LAST YEAR.

AND THEN WE LOOK AT IT THE SAME WAY AND YOU CAN SEE, YOU KNOW, THE OPPORTUNITIES THE HIGH SCHOOLS.

IT'S HUGE DAYBREAK TRUCKS. AND SO, YOU KNOW, A LOT OF OUR MARKETING AND OUR STRATEGY IN TERMS OF, YOU KNOW, HOW WE'RE MANAGING OUR PROGRAMS GEARED AROUND, YOU KNOW, THESE CHARTS AND WHERE WE CAN REALLY HAVE THE BIGGEST BANG AND BUCK, YOU KNOW, IN TERMS OF WHERE WE SPEND OUR TIME.

AND THEN SOME OF THE THINGS, YOU KNOW, A LOT OF WHAT WE'VE TALKED ABOUT SO FAR IS JUST OUR NORMAL DAY IN, DAY OUT OPERATIONS OR MARKETING PROGRAMS. BUT THERE WERE A FEW ACCOMPLISHMENTS THAT I WANTED TO JUST DRAW YOUR ATTENTION TOWARDS THAT WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO ADDRESS SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR. AND WE DID SNACKS FOR THE PRE K JUMPSTART PROGRAM.

WE DID THAT AT THE VERY BEGINNING OF THE OF THE SCHOOL YEAR, ACTUALLY, BEFORE SCHOOL EVEN STARTED.

WE HAD A SUCCESSFUL FOUNDATION DINNER. I THINK, YOU KNOW, FOR THOSE THAT ATTENDED, I HAD, YOU KNOW, GOOD FEEDBACK FROM IT. AND WE WORK CLOSELY.

YOU'LL SEE IN THE UPPER RIGHT CORNER THERE THE PICTURE OF THE ROTC STUDENTS.

WE WORK COLLABORATIVELY WITH THEM, AND THAT WAS A GREAT EFFORT AND PROGRAM FOR US AND TO GET INVOLVED AND WORK WITH THEM ON THAT, AND THEN PUT OUT A OUT A NEW CATERING MENU. ALL OF THE SMALLWARES CATERING SUPPLY SAFETY ITEMS. THEY'RE TYPICALLY OWNED BY THE CONTRACT MANAGEMENT COMPANIES.

AND SO WHEN THERE WAS A CHANGE, A LOT OF THAT WENT AWAY AND WE HAD TO RESET ALL OF THOSE SUPPLIES.

AND IT JUST TOOK A WHILE TO KIND OF ASSESS, YOU KNOW, WHAT WE HAD AND WHAT WE DIDN'T HAVE, WHAT WE NEEDED TO ORDER. BUT WE'RE STARTING TO GET WHERE WE'RE ON TOP OF THAT AND FEEL LIKE, YOU KNOW, WE HAVE ALL THE RIGHT SUPPLIES TO OFFER THE PROGRAM THAT WE NEED, THE WAY WE NEED TO AND WANT TO, AND THEN IMPROVED PROCESSES. A LOT OF THIS, AGAIN, IS WITH MICHELLE'S HELP WITH PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE AND BACKUP EQUIPMENT.

SO WHEN THINGS GO DOWN, YOU KNOW, WE CAN JUST KEEP ROLLING AND KEEP THINGS GOING.

AND, YOU KNOW, MORE OR LESS HAVE A SEAMLESS OPERATION.

OUR HEALTH DEPARTMENT INSPECTIONS, WE DID WELL ON THOSE THIS FALL, 100% ON ALL OF THEM.

AND THEN IN THE NEXT 90 DAYS, YOU KNOW, WE'RE GOING TO BE DOING A LOT OF SURVEY WORK WITH PARENTS AND STUDENTS, FOCUS GROUPS WITH STUDENTS IN EACH OF THE DIFFERENT BUILDINGS, ESPECIALLY THOSE SCHOOLS WHERE WE'VE GOT OPPORTUNITIES.

YOU KNOW, THOSE TARGET SCHOOLS I MENTIONED EARLIER? WE'VE GOT STAFF TRAINING AND COMMUNICATIONS THAT WILL CONTINUE WITH.

AND THEN JUST THOSE SPECIAL EVENTS, THE GLOBAL EATS, THE MOOD BOOST.

WE WILL BE DOING A DISCOVERY KITCHEN ON MARCH 20TH.

THAT'S A KIDS COOKING CONTEST. AND THEN WE'VE ALSO TALKED ABOUT AND WE'LL BE DOING A FINE DINING EVENT, YOU KNOW, LATER IN THE YEAR. WE HAVEN'T SET A DATE FOR THAT YET. WE WILL BE DOING THAT THOUGH.

OKAY. ANY QUESTIONS? I'D LIKE TO ASK YOU ONE OFFLINE BEFORE WE LEAVE.

OKAY. SO DON'T RUN AWAY. OKAY. THANK YOU ANYWAY.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? THANK YOU. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I JUST WANT TO THANK RUSS AND LAURA FOR ALL THEIR HARD WORK.

TRANSITIONING INTO A NEW SCHOOL DISTRICT WAS THEY PULLED IT OFF SEAMLESSLY.

THEY HAVE BEEN FANTASTIC TO WORK WITH. AND REALLY WE MEET WEEKLY SO THAT WE'RE ALWAYS KEEPING CURRENT ON HOW WE CAN BE GOOD PARTNERS WITH THEM. SO IT'S FANTASTIC.

I ALSO HAVE AN UPDATE ON ENROLLMENT. I'M GOING TO GIVE YOU THE LITE VERSION.

THERE IS INCLUDED IN THE BOARD DOCS THE ENROLLMENT UPDATE REPORT FOR NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER.

SO I'M JUST GOING TO SHARE SOME JUST KEY HIGHLIGHTS FROM THAT VERSUS GOING THROUGH IT PAGE BY PAGE.

BUT OVERALL OUR FTE REMAINS STRONG. WE ARE STILL OVER BUDGET.

WE DID GROW FROM OUR LAST UPDATE OF AROUND 53 FTE.

SO WE ARE OVER BUDGET AT AROUND 190 STUDENTS THROUGH THE DISTRICT IN FTE.

[01:35:07]

SO THAT'S AMAZING. ABOUT 60 NEW STUDENTS JOINED US FROM OUR LAST UPDATE, SO WE WILL SEE A LITTLE DIP IN JANUARY.

IT WILL KIND OF TREND DOWN A LITTLE BIT, BUT WE'RE STILL OVER BUDGET.

SO WE'RE HAPPY TO REPORT THAT WE ARE OUR ALES ARE ALSO ABOVE BUDGET SLIGHTLY, BUT MOSTLY OUR ENROLLMENT IN OVER BUDGET IS IN OUR COMPREHENSIVE.

SO, IN OUR SPECIAL EDUCATION WE ARE JUST SLIGHTLY WE'RE GETTING CLOSE TO OUR BUDGET NUMBERS.

SO PRETTY GOOD ON THAT ONE. AND THEN I JUST WANT TO JUMP TO OUR TRANSITIONAL BILINGUAL PROGRAM.

THEY HAVE EXCEEDED THEIR BUDGETED NUMBER OF STUDENTS, AND THEY ARE ALMOST 100 STUDENTS OVER WHERE WE PLANNED THAT THEY WOULD BE. SO THEY'VE BEEN ADDING STAFF TO ACCOMMODATE THAT ENROLLMENT INCREASE.

DID YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS FOR ME ON ENROLLMENT? OH. GOOD NEWS. YEAH. VERY GOOD. I NOTICED THE NUMBERS IN THE CTE ARE.

YES. PAST OCTOBER? YES. SO WE WILL GET THAT UPDATED FOR YOU.

BUT THEY ARE. I DO HAVE THOSE NUMBERS. I CAN STILL LOOK GOOD.

YEAH, THEY STILL LOOK GOOD. THEY'RE ABOVE BUDGET.

SO BUT THEY ARE COMING. THEY DID. THEY DID DROP DOWN.

YOU CAN SEE A LITTLE BIT IN FROM WHERE THEY STARTED OUT FROM.

SO, BUT THEY'RE, THEY'RE STILL OVER BUDGET IN THE CTE MIDDLE SCHOOLS STRUGGLING A LITTLE BIT AND WHERE WE THOUGHT THAT THEY WOULD BE.

BUT THEY'RE REMAINED FLAT IN THEIR NUMBERS. SO.

AND I'M JUST WONDERING, ARE YOU STILL SEEING A STEADY INCREASE IN THE TRANSITIONAL BILINGUAL OR HAS IT LEVELED OFF? LYNELL IS HERE AND WE'RE STILL SEEING A PRETTY STEADY INCREASE.

YEAH, IT'S STILL GOING UP. YEAH, YEAH, YEAH. THAT'S GOOD.

YEAH. THANK YOU. NO REPORT FROM FACILITIES AND OPERATIONS. AND THAT LEAVES AMANDA.

ALL RIGHT. GOOD EVENING. GOT A COUPLE OF THINGS TO SHARE WITH YOU.

STARTING WITH AN ARTICLE THAT WAS PUBLISHED ON OUR WEBSITE BEFORE WINTER BREAK THAT CHRIS BROWN WROTE A GREAT STORY ABOUT THEATER PROGRAMS IN OUR DISTRICT.

BUT LOOKING AT IT FROM THE SCENES OF WHAT GOES ON BEHIND THE SCENES, IN TERMS OF ALL THE WORK THAT STUDENTS DO TO BUILD SETS, MAKE COSTUMES, RUN SOUND AND LIGHTS, DO MAKEUP AND MUCH MORE.

SO YOU CAN SEE THAT ON OUR DISTRICT WEBSITE. AND IT'S A NICE WAY TO HIGHLIGHT THOSE STUDENTS CONTRIBUTIONS.

WE ALSO HAVE A NEW PODCAST EPISODE. IT FEATURES A SPOTLIGHT CONVERSATION WITH THE TEACHER LIBRARIAN TED SHELVIN AT CAPTAIN STRONG PRIMARY.

HE CAME UP WITH A FUN LITERACY BASED ACTIVITY FOR THE STUDENTS THERE, WHERE THEY CAN WALK AROUND THE SCHOOL AND GET DIFFERENT PIECES OF A STORY.

AND IT ALSO FEATURES THE CONVERSATION WITH DENNY AND KELLIE ABOUT THE UPCOMING REPLACEMENT EDUCATION AND OPERATIONS LEVY, AND REALLY DIVES DEEPLY INTO THE DETAILS OF WHAT WE ARE ASKING FOR.

AND SPEAKING OF THE LEVY, OUR LEVY COMMUNICATION IS IN FULL SWING, AND I WANTED TO TOUCH ON JUST A FEW OF THE WAYS THAT WE'RE SHARING INFORMATION THROUGH OUR REGULAR COMMUNICATION METHODS, AS WELL AS GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO JENNA HILL AND CHRIS BROWN ON MY TEAM, WHO HAVE BEEN HARD AT WORK ON LEVY COMMUNICATION SINCE LAST SUMMER AND HAVE REALLY DONE AN EXCELLENT JOB.

BUT AS YOU MAY KNOW, THERE ARE SOME GUIDELINES FOR HOW SCHOOL DISTRICTS ARE SUPPOSED TO COMMUNICATE ABOUT BALLOT MEASURES, AND WE ARE WORKING TO FOLLOW ALL OF THOSE FAITHFULLY.

A FEW OF THE WAYS WE WILL BE REACHING OUT, THOUGH, AND ARE INCLUDE A MAILER THAT WILL BE GOING TO ALL HOUSES AND BUSINESSES IN THE DISTRICT THIS WEEK. SO LOOK FOR THAT IN YOUR MAILBOX SOON.

YOU CAN SEE A PREVIEW ON THE LEFT. THERE IN THE UPPER RIGHT ARE SOME FAT CARDS THAT WE PUT TOGETHER TO SORT OF SHARE A SUMMARY OF LEVY INFORMATION AND MADE THOSE AVAILABLE IN SEVERAL DIFFERENT LANGUAGES. WE'RE SHARING LEVY INFORMATION IN OUR WEEKLY EMAILS AND THE BGP BULLETIN AND SOCIAL MEDIA.

OUR WEB PAGE HAS A LOT OF INFORMATION AS WELL AS A CALCULATOR, AND YOU CAN SEE A LITTLE PREVIEW IN THE LOWER RIGHT HAND CORNER THERE.

SO SOMEONE GOES IN AND ENTERS THE ASSESSED VALUE OF THEIR HOME.

THEY CAN GET AN ESTIMATE ON WHAT THE LEVY WOULD COST ON AN ANNUAL BASIS, ALONG WITH THE CAPITAL LEVY AS WELL.

AND SEE ALL THE ALL THE NUMBERS JUST FRONT AND CENTER THERE. AND THEN FINALLY WE HAVE ALSO CHRIS HAS CREATED A NICE VIDEO FOR US THAT I WANTED TO PLAY FOR YOU.

AND THEN IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, I WILL BE GLAD TO ANSWER THEM FOR YOU.

[01:40:03]

[VIDEO] ON FEBRUARY 11TH, BATTLE GROUND SCHOOL DISTRICT WILL BE ASKED TO CONSIDER A REPLACEMENT EDUCATION AND OPERATIONS LEVY. IF APPROVED, THIS LEVY WOULD REPLACE ONE EXPIRING AT THE END OF 2025 AND PROVIDE FUNDING FOR PROGRAMS AND SERVICES THAT AFFECT STUDENTS IN EVERY SCHOOL. VOTER APPROVED LOCAL LEVIES HELP PAY FOR THINGS THE STATE DOESN'T FULLY COVER, SUCH AS STUDENT SAFETY, BUSSING, SPECIAL EDUCATION, MENTAL HEALTH AND NURSING, TEACHING AND LEARNING MATERIALS, SPORTS, ARTS AND MUSIC, AND MUCH MORE. THE GAP BETWEEN THE REAL WORLD COST OF PUBLIC EDUCATION AND THE AMOUNT PROVIDED BY THE STATE HAS GROWN. THINGS LIKE UTILITIES, CUSTODIAL SUPPLIES AND INSURANCE HAVE RISEN BETWEEN 60 AND 84% IN RECENT YEARS.

SO WHAT WOULD THIS REPLACEMENT COST? WITH AN ESTIMATED TAX RATE OF $1.95 PER 1000 OF ASSESSED PROPERTY VALUE, THE OWNER OF A HOME VALUED AT $621,000 WOULD BE APPROXIMATELY $101 PER MONTH IN THE FIRST YEAR.

TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE REPLACEMENT LEVY, VISIT BATTLEGROUND.PS.ORG AND BE SURE TO VOTE ON FEBRUARY 11TH.

SO I KNOW THERE'S LOTS OF RULES AND STUFF ABOUT HOW ALL THIS STUFF IS HANDLED, OKAY.

AND I KNOW IT COSTS MONEY TO SEND FLIERS AND INFORMATION AND PRINT THINGS UP AND SIGNAGE AND ALL THIS STUFF.

AND SO I KNOW THAT WE HAVE A GROUP OF COMMUNITY PEOPLE WHO ARE RUNNING THAT.

HOW DO I GIVE TO THAT IF I WANT TO GIVE TO THAT EXPENSE OF PROMOTING LEVY MATERIALS? WELL, I LOOKED ON THE SITE AND I DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING THERE, SO I TRIED TO FIND IT.

IT'S IMPORTANT TO MAKE A DISTINCTION BETWEEN WHAT THE DISTRICT CAN DO AND WHAT INDIVIDUAL CITIZENS AND CITIZEN GROUPS CAN DO.

THE DISTRICT IS ONLY ALLOWED TO SHARE FACTUAL INFORMATION, SO NOTHING THAT COULD BE PERCEIVED AS PROMOTING THE LEVY OR ALSO CALLING ATTENTION TO IT ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. BUT OUR CITIZEN GROUPS OPERATE INDEPENDENTLY.

IT'S NOT AFFILIATED WITH THE SCHOOL DISTRICT, AND THAT'S WHY THERE'S NOT THAT INFORMATION THERE.

SO IF I WANTED TO GIVE, WHO DO I HAVE TO CONTACT? SO YOU WOULD PROBABLY WANT TO DO A SEARCH FOR BATTLE GROUND CITIZENS FOR BETTER SCHOOLS.

AND AGAIN, THAT'S NOT AFFILIATED WITH THE DISTRICT.

THAT'S SOMETHING THAT OPERATES INDEPENDENTLY. ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU. THANKS.

ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? IF NOT, THAT'S IT FOR SUPERINTENDENT.

STAFF UPDATE. THANK YOU. AND NEXT WE HAVE WE HAVE CITIZENS COMMENTS.

[7. Citizens' Comments]

THIS MEETING OF THE BATTLE GROUND PUBLIC SCHOOLS BOARD OF DIRECTORS, AND IT IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC TO ATTEND, VIEW PRESENTATIONS AND HEAR BOARD MEMBERS DISCUSS TOPICS DURING OPEN SESSIONS.

THE BOARD WELCOMES COMMENTS FROM CITIZENS DURING CITIZENS COMMENTS, AND ASK THAT THOSE WISHING TO ADDRESS THE BOARD SIGN IN ON THE SIGN IN SHEET PROVIDED, WHICH IS LOCATED CLOSE TO THE ENTRANCE. PLEASE FOLLOW THE PROCEDURES FOR CITIZENS COMMENTS BY STATING YOUR NAME, LIMITING YOUR TIME TO THREE MINUTES, AND REFRAINING FROM DISCUSSING CONFIDENTIAL MATTERS.

THE BOARD REQUIRES THAT ALL COMMENTS SPOKEN AT THE MEETING BE APPROPRIATE FOR A FAMILY AUDIENCE.

BOARD MEMBERS DO NOT NORMALLY RESPOND TO QUESTIONS OR PETITIONS DURING CITIZENS COMMENTS, THEY WILL LISTEN AND GIVE DIRECTION TO THE ADMINISTRATIVE TEAM IF ACTION IS DEEMED NECESSARY. SO, WE HAVE ETSEL HAS SOME CARDS THERE THAT WILL HELP YOU KEEP TRACK OF YOUR TIME.

AND OUR FIRST CITIZEN TO SPEAK IS MATT BRUMMEL.

AND PLEASE FORGIVE ME FOR CRUCIFYING YOUR NAMES.

OKAY. HELLO, EVERYBODY. MY NAME IS MATT BUMILLER.

I GREW UP IN BATTLE GROUND. I'M ACTUALLY A TRUE SON OF THIS TOWN. I WAS BORN IN MY HOUSE IN BATTLE GROUND WHERE CASCADE ELECTRICAL IS.

THERE'S A ROOM BACK THERE WHERE I CAME INTO THIS EARTH ABOUT 40 YEARS AGO.

SO I GREW UP IN THE BATTLE GROUND SCHOOL DISTRICT.

A LOT OF GOOD MEMORIES. THIS IS A VERY NOSTALGIC PLACE FOR ME. IT IS HOME.

AND I LOVED HEARING SOME OF THE WORK BASED LEARNING TESTIMONIALS AND THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN GOING ON, BUT I WANTED TO TALK ABOUT SEL FOR A SECOND.

I'M HERE TO VOICE MY STRONG OPPOSITION TO THE IMPLEMENTATION OF SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING IN OUR SCHOOLS.

WHILE SEL MAY SOUND GOOD, IN THEORY, IT'S MISGUIDED USE OF TIME, RESOURCES AND AUTHORITY DOES MORE HARM THAN GOOD.

NUMBER ONE, IT DISTRACTS FROM ACADEMICS. OUR SCHOOLS ARE ALREADY FALLING BEHIND IN CORE AREAS LIKE MATH, READING, SCIENCE. INSTEAD OF DOUBLING DOWN ON IMPROVING ACADEMICS, SEL WASTE PRECIOUS CLASSROOM TIME ON VAGUE EMOTIONAL CONCEPTS THAT CANNOT BE MEASURED.

[01:45:02]

THE ROLE OF A SCHOOL IS TO EDUCATE STUDENTS ACADEMICALLY, NOT PLAY THERAPIST.

NUMBER TWO, SCHOOLS SHOULDN'T PARENT OUR KIDS.

TEACHING EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AND VALUES IS THE JOB OF PARENTS, NOT SCHOOLS.

SEL OVERSTEPS BOUNDARIES BY IMPOSING ONE SIZE FITS ALL LESSONS AND DEEPLY PERSONAL TOPICS THAT BELONG AT HOME.

IT'S NOT THE DISTRICT'S JOB TO TELL THE KIDS HOW TO THINK, FEEL OR BEHAVE.

THAT'S THE FAMILY'S ROLE AND TRAMPLES ALL OVER IT.

NUMBER THREE, IT'S UNSCIENTIFIC AND UNPROVEN CLAIMS TO TEACH KIDS CRITICAL SKILLS, BUT THERE'S LITTLE EVIDENCE IT WORKS.

YOU CAN'T MEASURE SELF-AWARENESS OR EMPATHY WITH ANY REAL ACCURACY.

WHY ARE WE SPENDING TIME AND TIME AND RESOURCES ON SOMETHING SO SUBJECTIVE AND QUANTIFIABLE? SCHOOLS SHOULD STICK TO THE PROVEN METHODS, NOT GAMBLE ON UNTESTED FADS.

NUMBER FOUR, IT OPENS DOORS TO POLITICAL AGENDAS. LET'S BE HONEST SCL IS A TROJAN HORSE FOR POLITICALLY CHARGED IDEOLOGIES.

CONCEPTS LIKE EQUITY AND CULTURAL RESPONSIVENESS SOUND INNOCENT, BUT ARE OFTEN USED TO PUSH DIVISIVE AND BIASED IDEAS ONTO STUDENTS.

PUBLIC SCHOOLS MUST REMAIN NEUTRAL, NOT INDOCTRINATE OUR CHILDREN WITH IDEAS AND AGENDAS THAT DON'T BELONG IN THE CLASSROOM.

AND NUMBER FIVE, WE CAN'T AFFORD IT. IMPLEMENTING SEL ISN'T FREE.

TRAINING TEACHERS, BUYING MATERIALS, AND HIRING STAFF COSTS MONEY WE DON'T HAVE.

WITH OVERCROWDED CLASSROOMS, OUTDATED TEXTBOOKS, AND UNDERPAID TEACHERS, THIS DISTRICT HAS FAR BIGGER PRIORITIES THAN ROLLING OUT FEEL GOOD PROGRAMS WITH NO CLEAR BENEFIT. SO THE BOTTOM LINE IS SEL IS A DISTRACTION AND OVERREACH AND A WASTE OF OUR RESOURCES.

OUR SCHOOLS NEED TO GET BACK TO THE BASICS TEACHING KIDS HOW TO READ, WRITE, AND THINK CRITICALLY, NOT HOW TO FEEL. IF THE DISTRICT CARES ABOUT THE RESULTS, IT WILL ABANDON SEL AND REFOCUS ON ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE WHERE IT BELONGS.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU. MA'AM. NEXT IS AMY VAIL.

IS IT VAIL? VAIL? YES. YOU DID GOOD. I'M IMPRESSED.

THANK YOU. WELL, GOOD EVENING. MEMBERS OF THE BATTLE GROUND SCHOOL DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD. I STAND BEFORE YOU TONIGHT TO EXPRESS DEEP CONCERNS REGARDING THE DISTRICT'S PROPOSED ADOPTION OF CASTLES SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING CURRICULUM, WHICH DETRACTS THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF EDUCATION.

PREPARING CHILDREN FOR SUCCESS IN LIFE THROUGH A SOLID, RIGOROUS ACADEMIC FOUNDATION.

SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING CURRICULUMS INTRODUCE DIVISIVE IDEOLOGIES THAT HAVE NO PLACE IN OUR SCHOOLS.

UNDER THE GUISE OF EMOTIONAL AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT, SUCH PROGRAMS OFTEN PROMOTE POLITICAL AGENDA, INCLUDING PRINCIPLES ALIGNED WITH CRITICAL RACE THEORY, CRT.

THIS IDEOLOGY CATEGORIZES INDIVIDUALS BASED ON RACE AND TEACHES STUDENTS THAT THEY ARE EITHER VICTIMS OR OPPRESSORS, DEPENDING ON THEIR RACIAL BACKGROUND. SUCH A FRAMEWORK DOES NOTHING TO FOSTER UNITY OR PREPARE STUDENTS FOR A SUCCESSFUL FUTURE.

INSTEAD, IT FOSTERS DIVISION, RESENTMENT, AND CONFUSION.

THESE CONCEPTS DISTRACT FROM REAL EDUCATIONAL GOALS, SUCH AS TEACHING CHILDREN TO THINK CRITICALLY, SOLVE PROBLEMS, AND EXCEL IN ESSENTIAL ACADEMIC SUBJECTS.

EVEN MORE TROUBLING IS THE INTRODUCTION OF MATERIALS THAT SEXUALIZE YOUNG CHILDREN AND PUSH AGENDAS AROUND GENDER IDENTITY AND SEXUAL ORIENTATION.

SCHOOLS SHOULD NOT BE A FORUM FOR IMPOSING THESE CONTROVERSIAL TOPICS ON CHILDREN.

INSTEAD, WE SHOULD BE FOCUSING ON PROVIDING A HIGH QUALITY EDUCATION THAT EMPHASIZES LITERACY, MATH, SCIENCE, HISTORY, AND OTHER FUNDAMENTAL SUBJECTS AREAS IN WHICH OUR STUDENTS ARE CLEARLY STRUGGLING.

DATA FROM THE WASHINGTON STATE REPORT CARD FOR BATTLE GROUND SCHOOL DISTRICT REVEALS AN ALARMING PICTURE OF STUDENT PERFORMANCE.

ACCORDING TO THE LATEST AVAILABLE DATA. ONLY 46.5 OF STUDENTS IN THE DISTRICT ARE PROFICIENT IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS, AND ONLY 40.1% ARE PROFICIENT IN MATHEMATICS.

IN TERMS OF COLLEGE READINESS, ONLY 45.4% OF BATTLE GROUND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS MEET THE BENCHMARKS IN ENGLISH, AND JUST 29.1% MEET THE BENCHMARKS IN MATHEMATICS.

THESE NUMBERS ARE SIGNIFICANTLY BELOW THE STATE AVERAGE AND REFLECT AN F ON THIS DISTRICT'S REPORT CARD.

RATHER THAN SPENDING TIME AND RESOURCES ON PROGRAMS THAT PROMOTE SOCIAL ENGINEERING OR EARLY SEXUALIZATION, WE NEED TO REINVEST IN CORE ACADEMIC SUBJECTS.

OUR DISTRICT SHOULD NOT BE IN THE BUSINESS OF PUSHING POLITICAL AGENDAS THROUGH THE CLASSROOM, BUT RATHER IN THE BUSINESS OF EDUCATING OUR CHILDREN FOR A BRIGHT FUTURE.

IN CLOSING, I URGE THIS BOARD TO RISE UP WITH COURAGE TO REJECT THE ADOPTION OF THE SEL CURRICULUM AND ANY SIMILAR PROGRAMS THAT PUSH DIVISIVE, MARXIST INSPIRED IDEOLOGIES. OUR CHILDREN DESERVE BETTER AND YOU HAVE THE POWER TO HELP THEM.

EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU. THEY DESERVE AN EDUCATION THAT EQUIPS THEM WITH THE SKILLS THEY NEED TO SUCCEED, NOT ONE THAT UNDERMINES THEIR ACADEMIC GROWTH IN FAVOR OF IDEOLOGICAL AGENDAS.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME, AND I TRUST THAT YOU WILL MAKE DECISIONS THAT REFLECT THE TRUE EDUCATIONAL NEEDS OF THE CHILDREN IN OUR DISTRICT.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU. JESSICA COLE.

[01:50:13]

HELLO, BOARD. MY NAME IS JESSICA COLE. I'M NOT AS PREPARED AS I WANTED TO BE TONIGHT, SO I'LL BE SUPER BRIEF.

SINCE IT IS BOARD MEMBER APPRECIATION MONTH, I WANTED TO SAY THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SERVING, AND I MISS SAYING IT TO YOU ALL LAST YEAR. SO DOUBLE GRATITUDE FOR YOU FOR YOU TODAY, AND I KNOW IT TAKES A LOT OF TIME.

AND SINCE I'M NOT PREPARED, THAT'S ALL I WANT TO SAY.

I APPRECIATE THE FIVE BOARD MEMBERS AS WELL AS THE TWO STUDENTS.

SO THANK YOU SO MUCH. I REALLY APPRECIATE IT.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU. JESSICA. GRETCHEN VERPOORTEN, GOOD EVENING. BOARD. MY NAME IS GRETCHEN VERPOORTEN.

I'M A LONGTIME MEMBER OF CLARK COUNTY. I'M A WIFE, A GRANDMA, A MOM.

AND I JUST WANT TO TALK TO YOU TONIGHT ABOUT THE BEGINNING OF THE 2025 SCHOOL YEAR.

AS WE BEGIN THE YEAR, I WANT TO HIGHLIGHT SOME ALARMING STATISTICS.

I GOT THESE STATS FROM AN EPOCH TIMES ARTICLE TITLED ILLITERATE HIGH SCHOOL GRAD SUES SCHOOL BOARD HIGHLIGHTS A NATIONAL ISSUE. THIS STUDENT WAS AWARDED A DIPLOMA BY HARTFORD PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOL IN HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT, AND THEN WAS ACCEPTED AT THE UNIVERSITY OF CONNECTICUT IN HARTFORD.

DESPITE NEVER LEARNING HOW TO READ OR WRITE, I'M BRINGING THIS TO YOUR ATTENTION.

THE REASON IS THAT THE ARTICLE SHOWS A PROBLEM IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS ACROSS THE COUNTRY.

IT'S THAT PROBLEM IS LOW LITERACY SCORES FOR STUDENTS ACROSS THE COUNTRY, ALONG WITH HIGH GRADUATION RATES.

A WEST COAST DIRECTOR OF THE FREEDOM FOUNDATION THINK TANK SAYS THAT HISTORICAL STANDARDS, STANDARDS THAT WE'VE ALWAYS HAD FOR READING AND WRITING ARE ERODING.

ACCORDING TO THE NATIONAL CENTER FOR EDUCATION STATISTICS, ACROSS OUR NATION, READING AND MATH PROFICIENCY IS DECLINING, BUT GRADUATION RATES REMAIN HIGH GLOBALLY. THIS IS ALARMING.

THE UNITED STATES IS RANKED 14TH IN LITERACY OUT OF 31 INDUSTRIALIZED NATIONS, ONLY 14TH OUT OF 31. HOW ARE OUR STUDENTS GOING TO HAVE SUCCESS IN SOCIETY AT GETTING A JOB AND THEN BECOMING PRODUCTIVE MEMBERS IN OUR SOCIETY? SO TO RECAP, IN OUR PUBLIC SCHOOLS, WE HAVE DECLINING READING AND MATH SCORES. OUR STUDENTS ARE FAILING TO LEARN THE BASICS IN MATH AND READING.

GLOBALLY, WE ARE NUMBER 14 IN LITERACY OUT OF 31 INDUSTRIALIZED COUNTRIES.

SO WHAT IS THE SOLUTION? A STATE REP IN OREGON SAYS WE DON'T NEED TO WATER DOWN EXPECTATIONS IN OUR IN OUR PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

WE NEED A PLAN TO INCREASE ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT.

I WOULD ADD, DO NOT LOWER THE BAR, BUT CONCENTRATE ON OUR EDUCATION EFFORTS, ON THE BASICS IN READING AND MATH.

DROP CLASSES AND CURRICULUM THAT DRAWS OUR FOCUS AWAY FROM ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS, ART SKILLS, READING, MATH AND HISTORY AND SCIENTISTS SCIENCES.

AS WE GO ALONG AND CAN READ. RANKING 14TH IN LITERACY OUT OF 31 INDUSTRIALIZED NATIONS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

IT IS NOT SERVING OUR STUDENT BODY. WE NEED TO CONCENTRATE ON THE BASICS OF READING AND MATH, HISTORY AND SCIENCE. THANK YOU. THANK YOU, GRETCHEN.

THANK YOU. GOOD TO SEE YOU. JENNIFER HINEYWITHEE.

THANK YOU. GOOD EVENING. I DIDN'T REALIZE THAT IT WAS BOARD APPRECIATION WEEK.

IF I DID. I KNOWN I WOULD HAVE BROUGHT COOKIES.

[INAUDIBLE] THIS EVENING I, YOU KNOW, I'VE EXPRESSED A LOT ABOUT THE SEL CURRICULUM AND ADOPTION. ONE THING I WOULD LIKE TO SAY IS YOU KNOW, THE SCHOOL ATMOSPHERE IS,

[01:55:02]

IS NOT A GREAT PLACE FOR THERAPY. AND, AND TEACHERS ARE NOT THERAPISTS.

AND IF A STUDENT IS UNCOMFORTABLE WITH EXPRESSING THEIR FEELINGS, I THINK THAT SHOULD BE HONORED AND RESPECTED.

SO THAT'S ALL I'M GOING TO SAY THERE. I DID WANT TO MAKE A COMMENT ABOUT THE NEW LEGISLATIVE SESSION COMING UP, BECAUSE THERE ARE SOME BILLS THAT ARE PRETTY CONCERNING.

YOU KNOW, LAST YEAR THE LEGISLATURE PASSED A BILL THAT IS A PARENTAL RIGHTS BILL.

AND A COUPLE YEARS AGO, A GOOD FRIEND OF MINE AND COLLEAGUE CAME UP TO ME WITH THIS, THIS PARENTAL RIGHTS LIST THAT SHE HE HANDED TO ME. AND HE SAID, JENNIFER, WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS? AND HIS NAME WAS KEITH ADAMS. HE WAS A VERY GOOD FRIEND.

AND I LOOKED AT AND I SAID, WELL, THIS LOOKS GOOD.

AND I MADE SOME CHANGES TO IT BECAUSE THERE WERE SOME THINGS THAT WERE ALREADY IN LAW.

AND I HANDED IT BACK TO HIM. WELL, HE SUBMITTED THAT TO REPRESENTATIVE JIM WALSH, WHO PUT IT INTO AN INITIATIVE, AND THAT NOW IS THE PARENTAL BILL OF RIGHTS. WELL, THIS LEGISLATIVE SESSION WE HAVE LEGISLATORS WHO HAVE WHO HAVE SUBMITTED A BILL THAT WOULD ESSENTIALLY GUT THE PARENTAL BILL OF RIGHTS. WHAT IT WOULD DO IS IT WOULD IMPACT A PARENT'S RIGHT TO INSPECT THEIR CHILD'S MEDICAL RECORDS, TO RECEIVE PRIOR NOTIFICATION OF MEDICAL INTERVENTION, TO RECEIVE IMMEDIATE NOTIFICATION IF A CRIME HAS BEEN COMMITTED AGAINST THEIR CHILD, OR IF LAW ENFORCEMENT HAS QUESTIONED THEIR CHILD.

IT WOULD REMOVE IT WOULD AFFECT THEIR RIGHT TO KNOW IF THEIR CHILD IS REMOVED FROM CAMPUS WITHOUT PARENTAL PERMISSION OR IT ALSO CHANGES WORDING CONCERNING PARENT'S RIGHTS TO OPT OUT.

THIS IS CONCERNING. ALMOST HALF A MILLION PEOPLE LAST YEAR SIGNED THE INITIATIVE FOR THE PARENTS BILL OF RIGHTS, AND IT WAS PASSED ON A BIPARTISAN VOTE.

BUT NOW THEY'RE COMING BACK. SOME LAWMAKERS WANT TO COME BACK AND CHANGE IT.

SO I JUST WANT TO SAY WE NEED TO REALLY IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT THAT WE FOLLOW THESE LAWS, FOLLOW WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE LEGISLATURE AND VOICE OUR POSITION. TESTIFY ALSO.

AND FROM TESTIFYING. YOUR TIME'S UP. YEAH. ANYWAY, YOU KNOW ALL THIS.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. THANK YOU. THANK YOU CITIZENS WHO CAME TO COMMENT.

AND NEXT, WE'LL MOVE ON TO THE CONSENT AGENDA ON THE CONSENT AGENDA THIS EVENING.

[8. Consent Agenda (Board Vote w/Student Voice)]

WE HAVE APPROVAL OF THE CONSENT AGENDA. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES FOR THE DECEMBER 9TH SPECIAL MEETING.

APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES FOR THE DECEMBER NINTH REGULAR MEETING.

PERSONNEL REPORTS, STUDENT TRAVEL, FINANCIAL REPORTS AND COMPLETED PROJECTS.

REQUEST FOR APPROVAL. ANY ITEMS THAT BOARD MEMBERS NEED REMOVED OR QUESTIONS ON.

I MOVE, WE ACCEPT THE CONSENT AGENDA AS PRESENTED.

OKAY, I HAVE A MOTION TO ACCEPT THE CONSENT AGENDA AS PRESENTED.

STUDENT REPS. YOUR INPUT. PRO. PRO. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? OKAY. WE HAVE A MOTION ON THE FLOOR TO APPROVE THIS CONSENT AGENDA.

THOSE IN FAVOR SAY AYE. I. AND OPPOSED. NAY. THAT'S AN AYE FOR ME.

I WAS JUST SAYING TO SAY IF YOU'RE OPPOSED, NAY.

OKAY. WE HAVE NO OLD BUSINESS AND NEW BUSINESS.

[10. New Business (Board Vote w/Student Voice)]

OUR FIRST ITEM IS REVISION OF POLICY 2409 WORLD LANGUAGE MASTERY BASED CREDIT, AND MR. DRAKE WILL ADDRESS THAT. ACTUALLY, I THINK ADDRESS BOTH OF THEM AT THE SAME TIME.

YEAH. THANK YOU. BOARD. JUST TO GIVE AN OVERVIEW OF BOTH POLICIES.

AND THEN WE'LL KIND OF BACKTRACK AND SEPARATE THE TWO OF THEM INDIVIDUALLY.

SO BETWEEN THE TWO POLICIES, THE SCHOOL BOARD, EXCUSE ME, THE SUPERINTENDENT IS TASKED WITH DEVELOPING POLICY.

THE SCHOOL DISTRICT IS TASKED WITH DEVELOPING POLICY AND PROCESSES FOR AWARDING CREDITS TO STUDENTS BASED ON DEMONSTRATED PROFICIENCY.

IN OTHER WORDS, THERE ARE OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS TO EARN CREDIT BEING ABLE TO SHOW THAT THEY ARE PROFICIENT IN A SPECIFIC CONTENT AREA WITHOUT SITTING IN THAT CLASS.

AND SO WHAT THESE TWO POLICIES TALK ABOUT ARE PATHS AND AVENUES FOR STUDENTS TO GAIN CREDIT WITHOUT SITTING IN A CLASS.

[02:00:09]

AND NONE OF THIS IS NEW. AND I'LL TALK ABOUT THE KIND OF WHY I'M EVEN UP HERE.

SOME OF THE STRATEGIES ARE CHALLENGE EXAMS, WHICH HAVE EXISTED FOR SEVERAL YEARS, CREDIT FOR HIGHER LEVEL COURSEWORK, CREDIT FOR NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED ASSESSMENTS, AND CREDIT FOR A WORLD LANGUAGE.

SO IN ESSENCE, A STUDENT CAN TAKE A CHALLENGE EXAM, DEMONSTRATE THAT THEY HAVE PROFICIENCY WITHIN THAT CONTENT AREA, AND EARN CREDIT THAT IS NOT NEW, THAT HAS EXISTED FOR SEVERAL YEARS.

SO SPEAKING OF 2409 SPECIFICALLY, WSSDA HAS REVISED THIS MODEL POLICY SO THAT WORLD LANGUAGE STANDS ALONE WITHIN THE POLICY.

THE PURPOSE FOR THIS DISTINCTION IS WE APPROACH MASTERY BASED LEARNING AND CREDIT DIFFERENTLY FOR WORLD LANGUAGES, AS WE DO FOR OTHER CONTENT AREAS. SO THE MAJORITY OF 2409 HAS SHIFTED TO 2413.

SO WHAT WE HAVE NOW IS A 2409 POLICY THAT JUST CONTAINS WORLD LANGUAGES.

THE CONTENT OF THAT POLICY HASN'T CHANGED. IT'S JUST THAT WE REMOVED SEVERAL THINGS AND PUT THEM INTO 2413, WHICH I WILL TALK ABOUT NEXT. ANY QUESTIONS? AROUND 2409.

I THINK WE'RE GOOD TO GO. OKAY. SO FOR 2413, THE PRIMARY CHANGES, CHANGES HAVE BEEN THAT MOST OF 2409, EXCEPT THE WORLD LANGUAGE HAS BEEN SHIFTED TO 2413.

PREVIOUSLY IN 2413, IT WAS PRIMARILY CTE LANGUAGE THAT STILL EXISTS IN 2413 AND OTHER ITEMS SUCH AS CREDIT VIA CHALLENGE EXAMS, CREDIT FOR HIGHER LEVEL COURSEWORK, CREDIT FOR PE.

FOR EXAMPLE, STUDENTS CAN TAKE ROTC FOR FOUR YEARS AND GET A PE CREDIT.

AP CREDIT STUDENTS CAN PASS THE AP EXAM AND GAIN CREDIT FOR A COURSE, AND THERE'S MULTIPLE, MULTIPLE OTHER EXAMPLES. I DON'T THINK I WILL GO THROUGH ALL OF THEM, BUT ALL OF THAT NOW EXISTS IN 2413, WHERE IT USED TO LAY IN 2409. THANK YOU. TRAVIS.

YEAH, WELL, ANYBODY NEED MORE CLARIFICATION? I JUST HAVE ONE QUESTION, AND IT'S LITERALLY JUST ABOUT THE PROCEDURE.

DOES THAT MEAN, LIKE WHEN YOU GUYS REVISE THE PROCEDURE, YOU'LL BE MOVING STUFF FROM 2409 P TO THE OTHER ONE? I SEE A LOT OF NODS. SO I THINK THAT WAS A DUMB QUESTION.

I'M KIDDING, I'M KIDDING. THAT IS LIKE WHAT'S HAPPENING? BECAUSE I LOOKED AT THE PROCEDURES AND IT LOOKED LIKE IT HADN'T CHANGED YET. IT LITERALLY JUST STRIKES EVERYTHING OUT AND MOVES IT IN. YEAH, YEAH, YEAH. I DID NOTICE THE COPY AND PASTE. WELL, NOT LIKE COPY AND PASTE, BUT I DIDN'T WANT TO ANTICIPATE THE CHANGE UNTIL IT WAS APPROVED.

BUT THE PROCEDURE THAT CHANGED. SOUNDS GOOD. I WAS JUST CURIOUS.

THANK YOU. TERRY. SOMETHING I'M HAVING TROUBLE FINDING ALL OF THE COURSES THAT WERE IN THE PREVIOUS DOCUMENT, IN THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENT ARE ALL OF THE SAME COURSES STILL CHALLENGEABLE.

THAT'S THE QUESTION. YES. WE HAVEN'T CHANGED ANY OF THAT.

OKAY, SO THEY'RE ALL STILL IN THERE SOMEWHERE.

TRULY, ALL WE'VE DONE IS MOVED THINGS. OKAY. IF YOU WERE HERE ABOUT FOUR YEARS AGO, THE OPPOSITE THING HAPPENED WHERE IT WAS PUT INTO 2409. SO THIS IS UNDOING THAT? YES. OKAY. WE FOUND OUT IT DIDN'T WORK.

YEAH, IT DIDN'T WORK. WE DID IT AGAIN. OKAY. ANY OTHER CLARIFICATIONS NEEDED? MOVE THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS TO APPROVE THE REVISION TO POLICY 2409, WORLD LANGUAGE MASTERY BASED CREDIT.

OKAY. WE HAVE A MOTION ON THE FLOOR. ANY OTHER DISCUSSION OR QUESTIONS? OKAY. STUDENT REPS. YOUR INPUT. PRO. PRO. OKAY.

THE MOTION IS TO APPROVE REVISION TO POLICY 2409.

ALL THOSE IN FAVOR SAY AYE. AYE. ALL THOSE OPPOSED? MOTION PASSES 4 TO 0. THANK YOU. BOARD AND HAPPY SCHOOL BOARD WEEK.

YOU'VE GOT ONE MORE. WE STILL GOTTA VOTE ON. WE GOTTA DO THE NEXT ONE. SO FAST, BUDDY.

OKAY. I STILL WANT TO SAY THANK YOU TWICE. I'D ALSO MOVE THE BOARD APPROVED REVISION TO POLICY 2413 EQUIVALENCY CREDIT OPPORTUNITIES.

OKAY. MOTION IS ON THE FLOOR. AND STUDENT REPS, YOUR INPUT.

OKAY. THE MOTION TO APPROVE THE REVISION OF POLICY 2413.

ALL THOSE IN FAVOR SAY AYE. AYE. ALL THOSE OPPOSED? MOTION PASSES 4 TO 0. THANK YOU. BOARD AND HAPPY NATIONAL SCHOOL BOARD WEEK.

THANK YOU. GOOD JOB. AND OUR FINAL ITEM ON NEW BUSINESS.

APPROVAL TO PURCHASE STUDENT CHROMEBOOKS AND LICENSES.

SCOTT MCDONALD. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THE AGENDA ITEM IN FRONT OF YOU IS FAIRLY STRAIGHTFORWARD.

IS FOR THE PURCHASE OF 1600 CHROMEBOOKS. YOU GUYS SEE ME EVERY YEAR 1600 1600.

1600. YEAH, THAT'S A LOT OF LOT OF CHROMEBOOKS.

[02:05:02]

THAT'S A LOT OF CHROMEBOOKS. YOU'RE RIGHT. THIS IS OUR ANNUAL PURCHASE.

IT SUPPLIES INCOMING STUDENTS WITH 1 TO 1 DEVICES WHEN WE START UP AGAIN, AND THE REMAINDER GO TO REFILL CARTS THAT ARE IN OUR K-5 CLASSROOMS. THIS PURCHASE IS FUNDED BY THE CAPITAL LEVY. THIS IS OUR FIRST PURCHASE USING THE CAPITAL LEVY? YEP. ARE YOU STEALING HIS THUNDER? I BET HE WAS GOING TO SAY THAT NEXT TIME.

IT'S BAD ENOUGH YOU MAKE HIM GO LAST. I'M ALLOWED TO STEAL HIS THUNDER.

YEAH. IT'S RIGHT. SCOTT, HE IS ABSOLUTELY AUTHORIZED TO STEAL MY THUNDER ANYTIME HE WANTS.

I AM HERE AT HIS PLEASURE. ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS? ANY QUESTIONS? YEAH, JUST REAL BRIEFLY. I DON'T.

I'M NOT LOOKING FOR ANYTHING OTHER THAN JUST.

CAN YOU BRIEFLY EXPLAIN WHEN WE RETIRED OLD EQUIPMENT, WHAT HAPPENS TO IT? WE RECYCLE IT. DARCY SPIEKERMANN AT THE WAREHOUSE WORKS WITH THE COMPANY THAT COMES AND PICKS UP OUR OLD TECHNOLOGY AND RECYCLES IT.

DO THEY PAY FOR IT? IT DEPENDS. JUST IN GENERAL TERMS. WELL, THE ANSWER IS SOMETIMES THEY DO AND SOMETIMES THEY DON'T.

IT DEPENDS ON SO IF THERE'S A MODEL THAT WE HAVE THAT WE'RE RETIRING THAT STILL HAS SOME ECONOMIC VALUE BASED ON SOMEBODY'S CALCULATION, THEN THEY'LL PAY US A VERY SMALL AMOUNT.

OFTENTIMES THEY'LL GIVE US CREDIT FOR PARTS FOR OTHER CHROMEBOOKS THAT WE HAVE, WHICH IS VERY NICE.

THE ONE PARTICULAR MODEL THAT WAS VERY COMMONLY USED DURING COVID, WHICH WAS STILL AN OLD MODEL.

THERE WERE SO MANY THAT WERE RETIRED BECAUSE OF FEDERAL FUNDING THAT CAME OUT THAT NOBODY WANTED TO BUY THEM, SO THOSE WERE RECYCLED. BUT IN GENERAL, WE DO HAVE THE ABILITY TO SELL THEM BACK.

YES. LET ME ASK IT A LITTLE DIFFERENTLY, BECAUSE I'M LOOKING FOR THE ANSWER THAT I'M GIVING PEOPLE. AND I WANT TO MAKE SURE BECAUSE I GET THIS ASK THIS QUESTION ASKED A LOT.

WHAT DO YOU WANT? THE ANSWER THAT YOU WANT. NO, NO, NO, NO I WANT.

I'M TELLING THEM. CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG. I'M TELLING THEM THAT REALLY, IT'S NOT OF ANY VALUE BASICALLY.

GENERALLY SPEAKING, IT'S NOT OF ANY VALUE WHEN IT'S RETIRED.

CORRECT. SO WE DON'T REALLY GET ANY VALUE FOR IT EXCEPT FOR SOMETHING MAYBE VERY MARGINAL.

YEAH. THAT'S THE RIGHT ANSWER. THAT'S THE RIGHT ANSWER. OKAY. THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN TELLING THEM OKAY. ALL RIGHT THEN. YES, I WILL KEEP THAT SIMPLE. THAT'S WHY I THINK IT'S A MISNOMER THAT PEOPLE THINK WE COULD SELL THEM.

EXACTLY. AND MAKE MONEY. EXACTLY. AND SO HERE I HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO ASK.

MEANWHILE, YOU BUY AN IPHONE. I'LL ASK YOU NEXT YEAR AGAIN.

OH, NO. THAT'S GREAT. YEAH. OFTENTIMES, THE ONLY VALUE LEFT IN IT IS IN WHATEVER METAL SOMEBODY WANTS TO PAY TO EXTRACT, IF IT'S EVEN ECONOMICALLY FEASIBLE. I WON'T STEAL YOUR THUNDER NEXT TIME.

I'M SORRY. THAT'S OKAY. DENNY. I FEEL REALLY BAD NOW. YOU SHOULD.

YOU SHOULD NEVER FEEL BAD DENNY. THANKS, SCOTT.

YOU'RE WELCOME. I DON'T FEEL BAD. I FEEL ARE THERE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS I CAN ANSWER? ANY OTHER QUESTIONS OR DISCUSSION IN THE BOARD? IF NOT, I'D WELCOME A MOTION. I MOVE THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS, APPROVE THE PURCHASE OF STUDENT CHROMEBOOKS AND LICENSES.

THANK YOU. AND STUDENT REPS. YOUR INPUT. PRO.

PRO. OKAY, SO THE MOTION IS TO APPROVE THE PURCHASE OF STUDENT CHROMEBOOKS AND LICENSES.

ALL THOSE IN FAVOR SAY AYE. AYE. ALL THOSE OPPOSED? MOTION PASSES 4 TO 0. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. THANK YOU.

SCHOOL BOARD. THANK YOU. SCOTT. THANK YOU. AND FINALLY, WE ARE AT FUTURE EVENTS.
