The Multilingual Education Program has used Imagine Learning personalized and adaptive computer program to create equitable learning experiences and accelerate learning for multilingual learners that address their unique language needs in reading. Achievement data is then analyzed by our Multilingual Teachers in order to meet the needs of our students.
Our department has used the program for the past seven years. Last school year, there were 655 multilingual students who worked over 8,500 hours learning English literacy and oral vocabulary skills. We are replacing our current policy 6220 with WSSDA’s model policy 6220.
Thie district's current policy was last updated in 2020. Since then, WSSDA’s model policy has been improved to provide ease of reference and clarity when procuring with non-federal and federal funds.
The model policy mirrors the current district practice of procurement. It also includes the addition of I (H) Women and Minority Owned Business and I (D) Exemptions, with threshold of $75,000 or $2 per resident of the district, to waive bid requirements for making improvements to district property if it contracts with an eligible local organization.

Since 1979 when Prairie High School opened, the District has utilized the adjoining Brush Prairie Baptist Church softball field. In January of 2023, the Church notified the District they were considering expanding and would be demolishing the field in the near future.
In March of 2023. the Church confirmed that this would be the last year the District could use their field and we would need an alternative location for the 2023-24 softball season. After reviewing available locations, it was determined the district would build a new JV softball field on a vacant portion of the campus between the tennis courts and track.
This project will maximize reuse of existing fencing and dugouts from the Church field. The grass area is being renovated with aeration, fertilizing and water. The infield grass will be excavated and replaced with a clay playing surface.
The new field will be ready for play in March of 2024 for the spring softball season. This $316,000 (excluding tax) project will be funded by levy and contracted through the District’s small-works program.
