SHE HAS A PREARRANGED ABSENCE THIS EVENING.

MADAM PRESIDENT, WE HAVE A QUORUM.

THANK YOU. AS MENTIONED, SORA DOES HAVE AN ABSENCE.

DO WE NEED. WE NEED TO MOVE TO HAVE THAT EXCUSED.

WE USUALLY DO. WE USUALLY DO.

YEP. I MOVE TO EXCUSE THE ABSENCE OF SORA TOLLEY.

THANK YOU. WE HAVE A MOTION ON THE FLOOR TO EXCUSE SORA'S ABSENCE.

WE'LL. SORRY.

ANY QUESTIONS FROM THE BOARD ABOUT THAT? RIGHT. ALL THOSE IN FAVOR, PLEASE SAY AYE.

SO WE DO HAVE A MOTION ON THE FLOOR TO APPROVE THE AGENDA AS PRESENTED.

WE HAVE OUR ADVISORY STUDENT VOICE VOTE OF PRO.

ANY FINAL QUESTIONS? HEARING NONE. ALL THOSE IN FAVOR, PLEASE SAY AYE.

AYE. ALL THOSE OPPOSED? MOTION PASSES 5 TO 0.

NEXT ON TONIGHT'S AGENDA, WE HAVE STUDENT VOICE.

[5. Communications]

DO NOT SEE A WHOLE LOT OF STUDENTS IN THE AUDIENCE TONIGHT AND NOBODY WAVING ME DOWN.

SO, RICARDO, DO YOU HAVE ANYTHING YOU'D LIKE TO SHARE THIS EVENING? WELL, I BELIEVE IT WAS LAST FRIDAY, OR AT LEAST THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL.

UM. YAY, WE'RE IN SUMMER.

AND ALSO, I GOT TO HELP OUT WITH PLEASANT VALLEY'S FIELD DAY, SO THAT WAS REALLY FUN.

AND YEAH, THAT'S REALLY ABOUT IT.

GETS QUIET THIS TIME OF YEAR. HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE GRADUATED AND DONE? I WOKE UP THE NEXT DAY AND I WAS LIKE, I HAVE TO GO TO SCHOOL.

I REALIZED THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN. AND YOUR FINAL BOARD MEETING? AND MY FINAL BOARD MEETING.

THAT'S CRAZY. I BET.

WELL, YOU WILL BE MISSED.

THANK YOU. WITHOUT ANY ADDITIONAL STUDENT VOICE.

WE'LL MOVE ON TO COMMITTEE REPORTS AND WE'LL START WITH THE LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE.

NO REPORT. THE AUDIT COMMITTEE DID NOT MEET.

THEY'LL MEET NEXT [INAUDIBLE].

YEAH. BATTLE GROUND EDUCATION FOUNDATION.

NO. NO. SIGNIFICANT HAPPENINGS.

WIAA COMMITTEE.

WE ARE ON BREAK UNTIL AUGUST.

ANY WSSDA UPDATES AND WE WERE GOING SO FAST.

I DID HAVE MY TRUST LANDS ADVISORY COMMITTEE VIA ZOOM TODAY AND THEY'RE ALREADY PLANNING AHEAD.

WE HEARD FROM THE WSSDA LEGAL REPRESENTATIVE, MIKE HOOVER, TALKING ABOUT THE RESOLUTIONS THAT THEY

[00:05:05]

PUT IN ON THE POSITIONS.

THEY ADDED WORDS TO SAY THAT ANY TRUST LANDS WILL BE MANAGED FOR THEIR MAXIMUM VALUE, WHICH WAS NOT IN THERE BEFORE, WHICH SOUNDS GOOD. WE HAD A LITTLE BIT OF A DEBATE ABOUT DOES MAXIMUM VALUE MEAN THAT YEAR OR DOES IT MEAN OVER DECADES, WHICH SOME STATE LANDS GET MANAGED OVER DECADES? WE DECIDED TO JUST LEAVE IT AT MAXIMUM VALUE AND I GUESS THEY'LL DECIDE AT THAT TIME.

AND IT DID RECEIVE A DUE PASS RECOMMENDATION FROM THE RESOLUTIONS COMMITTEE.

THEY ALSO MENTIONED THAT NEXT YEAR BEING THE SHORT BUDGET CYCLE, THEY WOULD LOOK PROBABLY FOR POLICY GAINS RATHER THAN MONETARY GAINS AND WAIT TILL THE NEXT BUDGET CYCLE IN 2025 TO SEE IF THEY COULD IMPROVE SCHOOL FUNDING FOR BUILDINGS.

THANK YOU. QUESTIONS FOR MARK? AND ACTUALLY I MAYBE I'LL I MENTIONED TO AMANDA IN THE AUDIENCE, I ALSO GOT A CALL FROM THE WSSDA COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR, SEAN DUKE, WHO WAS VERY INTERESTED IN OUR SEVENTH GRADE TRUST LANDS FIELD TRIP THAT WE DID THAT TRICKLED DOWN TO HIM.

AND SO HE MAY BE CONTACTING YOU ABOUT THAT.

NEXT IS THE TOURIST COMMITTEE.

WE DON'T HAVE ANY TOURS UNTIL FALL, WHICH IS FANTASTIC.

ANYTHING TO ADD TO THAT? ALL RIGHT. WE ARE GOING TO MOVE ON TO DIRECTOR REPORTS.

ANYONE HAS ANYTHING TO SHARE? I DIDN'T GO DO THIS AS A DIRECTOR, BUT BECAUSE WE DID APPROVE THE TRAVEL AS A BOARD, I'LL BRING IT UP.

I WAS IN ATTENDANCE FOR THE BATTLE GROUND HIGH SCHOOL'S FOOTBALL TEAM'S TEAM CAMP AT GEORGE FOX THIS LAST WEEKEND.

AND THANK YOU TO EVERYONE.

THAT WAS. I DIDN'T THINK I WAS HERE FOR THAT VOTE, BUT IT WAS AN AMAZING TRIP.

AND WE HAD 55 STUDENTS GO IN THE END AND SPEND OUR DAYS THERE AT GEORGE FOX, AND WE HAD QUITE THE OUTCOME. EVERY WE WON EVERY CHAMPIONSHIP EACH NIGHT, WHICH IS PRETTY PHENOMENAL FOR US AND TO BE THE TEAM THAT'S WINNING A LOT IS KIND OF A CHANGE.

SO IT FELT REALLY GOOD.

SO IT WAS A REALLY, REALLY GOOD WEEKEND.

SO THANK YOU.

ANYBODY ELSE AND MAYBE SIMILAR NOT OFFICIAL BOARD DUTIES, BUT SINCE, YOU KNOW, I PROMOTE SCHOOL GARDENS, PLEASANT VALLEY GOT SIX NEW GARDEN BEDS AND WE'RE MAKING PLANS TO GET THOSE OUT FRONT BY THE WONDERFUL.

IF YOU HAVEN'T GONE BY PLEASANT VALLEY AND SEEN THE WOOD CARVED MASCOT, IT'S WORTH THE TRIP.

GO BY AND TAKE A LOOK.

AND THANK YOU, MR. JOLMA, FOR GREEN LIGHTING US PUTTING THOSE IN.

WE'LL GET INPUT FROM THE TEACHERS ON CONFIGURATION AND THEN RUN THAT BY MAINTENANCE BEFORE WE DO ANY FINAL STEPS.

ALL RIGHT. OKAY.

I THINK THAT WRAPS UP DIRECTORS REPORTS AND ON TO SUPERINTENDENT AND STAFF UPDATES.

[6. Superintendent and Staff Updates]

THANK YOU. OURS WILL BE FAIRLY QUICK TOO.

OUR CFO, MICHELLE SCOTT, IS NOT ABLE TO JOIN US.

SHE'S OUT. HOPE YOU GET BETTER MICHELLE.

SUPERINTENDENTS REPORT.

I JUST WANTED TO ONCE AGAIN TAKE SOME TIME TO AS THE YEAR IS OVER, TO SAY CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF OUR GRADUATES.

WE HAD ALMOST 965 GRADUATES, ALMOST 1,000 GRADUATES FROM BATTLE GROUND PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

I'D LIKE TO ONCE AGAIN CONGRATULATE ALL THE STAFF WHO HAVE SERVED US LONG AND DISTINGUISHED CAREERS AND RETIRED.

I WANT TO THANK ALL THE STAFF FOR FOR ALL OF THEIR ALL OF THE STAFF, FOR ALL OF THEIR EFFORTS THIS YEAR.

IT CONTINUES TO BE TRYING TIMES AND WOULDN'T WANT TO WORK WITH ANYBODY ELSE BUT THE PEOPLE THAT ARE IN THIS DISTRICT.

I WANT TO THANK ALL OF OUR STUDENTS AND CONGRATULATE THEM ON THEIR ACHIEVEMENTS FOR PASSING FROM YEAR TO YEAR.

WE HAVE SOME BIG ONES AND WE HAD KINDERGARTEN GRADUATIONS.

WE HAD FOURTH GRADE GRADUATIONS.

MOVING ON TO THE MIDDLE SCHOOL.

WE HAD EIGHTH GRADE GRADUATIONS THAT GO INTO THE HIGH SCHOOL.

SO ALL OF THOSE ARE VERY SPECIAL AND VERY COOL.

AND THEN I ALSO JUST LASTLY WANT TO THANK SAY SPECIAL THANKS TO ALL OF OUR FAMILIES AND THE COMMUNITY FOR CONTINUED SUPPORT AND TRUST.

I REALIZE THAT WE'RE NOT PERFECT, BUT I PROMISE YOU THAT WE WILL CONTINUE TO STRIVE TO GET BETTER.

[00:10:04]

THANK YOU, EVERYBODY.

AND WITH THAT, I'M NOT GOING TO STEAL ANY THUNDER.

I WANTED TO TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT OUR OUR SUMMER PROJECTS, BUT I'LL LEAVE THAT TO KEVIN TO TALK ABOUT OUR SUMMER PROJECTS.

SO I'M GOING TO PASS IT ON TO TEACHING AND LEARNING.

I HAVE JUST A HANDFUL OF THINGS.

AS YOU KNOW, SCHOOLS WERE ALL OUT LAST WEDNESDAY AND THINGS HAVE PICKED UP IN OUR TEACHING AND LEARNING DEPARTMENT SINCE THEN, IF YOU CAN BELIEVE IT OR NOT, WE HAVE HAD AN ADMIN RETREAT ONE DAY.

WE'VE HAD ELA OUR ELA TEACHERS, BOTH THE K-5 FOR WIT AND WISDOM AS WELL AS OUR 6 TO 8 TEACHERS MEET.

WE'VE HAD OUR PARA EDUCATORS MEET AND HAVE A TRAINING ON FRIDAY.

WE ARE ALSO DOING THE SUMMER TRAININGS FOR OUR NEW AND UPCOMING CURRICULUM AROUND THE LEGOS FOR SUMMER SCHOOL, WHICH IS PRETTY EXCITING.

SO LOTS OF THINGS GOING ON IN TEACHING AND LEARNING.

I WANT TO THANK MY THE STAFF THAT I GET TO WORK WITH EACH AND EVERY DAY FOR EVERYTHING THAT THEY'RE DOING TO ALREADY GET PREPARED FOR NEXT YEAR.

SO JUST A SHOUT OUT TO THEM.

WE ALSO HAVE GOING ON THIS WEEK, MANY OF OUR ADMINISTRATORS HAVE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO GO TO THE WSSDA [INAUDIBLE] CONFERENCE, WHICH IS THIS YEAR A VERY SPECIAL TREAT BECAUSE WE HAVE ONE OF OUR APS RECEIVING AN AWARD.

SHE RECEIVED THE AWARD THIS MORNING, ACTUALLY.

UM, SELENA MACHIDA, OUR NEW ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL AT TUKES VALLEY PRIMARY.

SHE WAS RECOGNIZED AS AN UNDERREPRESENTED EDUCATIONAL LEADER THROUGH THE WSSDA AWARD THAT'S GIVEN ONCE A YEAR TO ONE ADMINISTRATOR IN THE STATE.

AND HATS OFF TO HER FOR GETTING THAT.

THAT WILL ALSO MEAN THAT SHE WILL GET A $5,000 SCHOLARSHIP THAT WILL HELP HER FURTHER HER EDUCATION AS SHE MOVES ON.

SHE'S RECENTLY GOT HER ADMINISTRATION AN ADMINISTRATIVE CREDENTIAL, AND I UNDERSTAND SHE'S WORKING TOWARDS A DOCTORATE, SO SHE'S A HIGH ACHIEVING YOUNG WOMAN AND WE JUST WISH HER ALL THE BEST IN THAT.

AS WE GO INTO THE JULY MONTH.

AS YOU KNOW, EVERYBODY IS IN AND OUT.

WE'LL BE WORKING ON LOTS OF PROJECTS.

BUT LATER IN OUR AGENDA, I'LL BE TALKING TO YOU ABOUT WHAT WE'VE LEARNED ABOUT PLCS AND HOW THOSE WENT THIS YEAR.

AND WE'LL BE TALKING ABOUT WHAT THAT MEANS FOR US NEXT YEAR.

AND WE WILL HOPE THAT YOU AGREE WITH US FROM THE FEEDBACK THAT WE'VE GOTTEN AROUND PLCS THAT WE SHOULD MOVE FORWARD WITH A SIMILAR CALENDAR AS WE HAD THIS YEAR.

SO MORE TO COME, BUT I'LL WAIT UNTIL THE VERY END OF THE AGENDA IN CASE WE GET OUR.

YEAH, I WAS GOING TO POINT OUT THAT YOU PROBABLY ALL NOTICED WE'RE STRUGGLING WITH OUR TVS, SO BUT WE HAVE AC.

YES. SO EITHER ONE OR THE OTHER YOU CAN'T HAVE BOTH.

I'LL TAKE THE AC, AC FOR SURE.

NO HUMAN RESOURCES REPORT TODAY.

AS I MENTIONED, MICHELLE IS OUT SICK, SO NO FINANCE REPORT.

KEVIN LET ME GIVE A QUICK UPDATE OPERATIONS.

YEAH, YOU BET. SO YOU PROBABLY SAW THAT OUR SECOND MODULAR SHOWED UP HERE ON CAM.

WE STARTED SETTING THEM LAST MONDAY AND WE'RE ALL WE'RE ALL DRY NOW AND ALL PUT TOGETHER.

FIRST ONE IS JUST IS GETTING CLOSE TO US MOVING FURNITURE OVER INTO THERE.

PRAIRIE HIGH TRACK DENNY ON A LITTLE FIELD TRIP TODAY.

YEAH IT LOOKS GREAT. WENT TO SEE THE PRAIRIE HIGH TRACK GETTING RESURFACED.

LOOKS GREAT.

OUR HVAC REPLACEMENTS AT MAPLE GROVE RIVER HOMELINK AND THE HVAC CONTROLS IS UNDERWAY.

THE EQUIPMENT IS ALL OUT IN THE PARKING LOT.

FLOORING HAS STARTED AND MANY OF OUR PROJECTS.

I HAVE THE BATTLE GROUND HIGH SCHOOL HALLWAY ON HERE.

LATER IN THE AGENDA, BUT WE'LL BE GOING ON THAT SOON.

A LOT OF PROJECTS GOING ON.

EVERYTHING WE'VE BEEN PLANNING FOR ALL YEAR IS UNDERWAY.

KEVIN FROM A DESIGN STANDPOINT, WHEN THE THIRD MODULAR COMES IN, IS IT GOING IN THE MIDDLE OF THOSE OTHER TWO? NO, IT GOES ON THE SO THAT'S, THAT'S THE COURTYARD BETWEEN THE COURTYARD.

OKAY. WHERE WE LEFT ROOM FOR FUTURE EXPANSION IF THEY WANT TO PUT ANOTHER MODULAR IN BUT THERE'LL BE A COVERED PLAY SHED AND A NICE CONCRETE LUNCH AREA AND GRASS.

SO THAT'S A COURTYARD.

IT'LL BE VERY NICE.

OKAY. YEAH. I WAS JUST CURIOUS FROM A DESIGN STANDPOINT.

THANK YOU. YEAH.

AND LAST BUT CERTAINLY NOT LEAST.

COMMUNICATIONS SUPPORT.

GOOD EVENING. I WAS GOING TO SHARE OUR END OF YEAR VIDEO WITH YOU, BUT SINCE WE'RE HAVING SOME TECHNICAL ISSUES, MAYBE THAT CAN BE A FUTURE MEETING.

IN THE MEANTIME, YOU CAN SEE THAT ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AS WELL AS ON SOCIAL MEDIA.

[00:15:07]

THAT WAS GOOD. YEAH.

YEAH. YOU JUST NEVER KNOW.

THERE'S GREMLINS IN HERE WHEN WE'RE NOT MEETING APPARENTLY.

YEAH. SO THAT'S IT FOR THE SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT.

GREAT. THANK YOU.

NEXT, WE'LL MOVE ON TO CITIZENS COMMENTS.

[7. Citizens' Comments]

THREE VETERAN SPEAKERS.

SO WE'LL GO AHEAD AND GET STARTED RIGHT AWAY.

TIFFANY SCHEETZ, DO YOU WANT TO COME UP? OH, HELLO AGAIN, FRIENDS.

I'M SORRY IF YOU'RE GETTING TIRED OF SEEING ME, BUT I'M A PERSISTENT ONE.

SO TODAY I ADDRESSED THE BOARD.

I'M SORRY. I THINK WE'RE JUST WORKING ON A TIMER.

OKAY. WE DO STILL LIMIT TO THREE MINUTES.

YOU GOT IT. THANK YOU, RICARDO.

SO RICARDO'S GOT THE TIMER ON HIS PHONE.

HE'S GOT IPHONES. I APOLOGIZE THAT THAT IS A TECHNICAL DIFFICULTY WITHOUT OUR SCREEN, SO.

OKAY. ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU.

TODAY I ADDRESSED THE BOARD WITH A DEEP SENSE OF DISAPPOINTMENT REGARDING THE STATE OF THE EDUCATION SYSTEM AND THE RECENT DECISION MADE BY OSPI REGARDING MY STUDENT IN SECTION SEC. 23 060.

THROUGHOUT FOUR CHALLENGING YEARS, I PLACED MY TRUST IN THIS SPECIFIC EDUCATION SYSTEM, HOPEFUL THAT IT WOULD BE ABLE TO PROPERLY IDENTIFY MY STUDENTS UNIQUE NEEDS AND UPHOLD THE LEGAL AND ETHICAL PRINCIPLES I BELIEVE THIS DISTRICT HELD DEAR.

WHILE OSPI FINDINGS HAVE GRANTED SOME RELIEF TO THE DISTRICT BY ABSOLVING THEM OF MAJOR VIOLATIONS WITHIN A LIMITED ONE YEAR TIMELINE, THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE FOUR YEAR PERIOD, WHICH MY STUDENT MADE MINIMAL PROGRESS, REMAINS UNCHANGED.

SHE HAS NOT PASSED AN ANNUAL GOAL IN FOUR YEARS.

THIS UNIDENTIFIED UNDENIABLE FACT PERSISTS AND IT IS CONCERNING THAT THE DISTRICT CAN EVADE SERIOUS VIOLATIONS BASED SOLELY ON A STRICT TIME FRAME, WHICH SHOULD RAISE CONCERNS FOR ANYONE WHO VALUES JUSTICE AND EQUITY IN EDUCATION.

THE ANDREW F VERSUS DOUGLAS COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT CASE SERVES AS A PIVOTAL MILESTONE IN SPECIAL EDUCATION LAW.

IT'S CENTERED AROUND PARENTS ADVOCATING FOR THEIR CHILD'S LACK OF MEANINGFUL PROGRESS ON IEP GOALS AND THE SCHOOL'S FAILURE TO ADDRESS WORSENING BEHAVIOR PROBLEMS A SITUATION THAT IS ALMOST EXACTLY MY STUDENT'S CASE.

THIS CASE SOUGHT TO DETERMINE THE STANDARD OF FAPE UNDER IDEA.

THE US SUPREME COURT UNANIMOUSLY REJECTED THE MINIMAL DE MINIMIS STANDARD AND EMPHASIZED A HIGHER BENCHMARK FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION CHILDREN.

CHIEF JUSTICE ROBERTS STRESSED THAT THE STANDARD SHOULD DEMAND CONSIDERABLY MORE THAN MINIMAL PROGRESS, STATING THAT A STUDENT OFFERED ONLY MINIMAL PROGRESS COULD HARDLY BE CONSIDERED EDUCATION AT ALL.

CONSIDERING THE FOUR YEAR TIME FRAME, I AM CERTAIN THAT THE DISTRICT'S CONDUCT WOULD HAVE VIOLATED NUMEROUS CODES AND LAWS IF THE ONE YEAR LIMITATION CLAUSE HAD NOT BEEN ESTABLISHED. ADDITIONALLY, I WANT TO POINT OUT THE FINDINGS FROM OSPI DID NOT COMPLETELY RESOLVE THIS DISTRICT OF WRONGDOING.

THE INVESTIGATION DID CONFIRM THAT THE BATTLE GROUND SCHOOL DISTRICT INDEED VIOLATED MY STUDENT'S RIGHTS REGARDING HER ACCOMMODATIONS, A MATTER THAT, IN MY VIEW, WARRANTS MORE THAN A MERE REPRIMAND THAN THE HAND THAT WAS RULED DOWN.

THIS RULING SHOULD SERVE AS A FIRM CAUTION TO THE BATTLE GROUND SCHOOL DISTRICT, HIGHLIGHTING THE SIGNIFICANCE OF UPHOLDING THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES.

IT DEEPLY TROUBLES ME THAT THIS IS THE SECOND INSTANCE WHERE THE DISTRICT HAS BEEN FOUND IN VIOLATION OF MY STUDENT'S IEP.

THE REPEATED OCCURRENCE OF SUCH VIOLATIONS IS UNEQUIVOCALLY UNACCEPTABLE AND DEMANDS IMMEDIATE ATTENTION AND CORRECTIVE MEASURES FROM THE SCHOOL BOARD AND SUPERINTENDENT WATERS.

I WON'T FINISH IT, BUT I DO APPRECIATE YOUR GUYS'S TIME AND I WILL BE BACK.

HAVE A GREAT SUMMER.

THANK YOU. EUNICE.

BLESS YOU. THANK YOU.

GOOD EVENING, BOARD.

MY NAME IS EUNICE INGERMANSON.

MY PRONOUNS ARE SHE/ HER AND I LIVE IN THIS SCHOOL DISTRICT.

I WOULD LIKE TO INTRODUCE YOU TO A NEW ORGANIZATION THAT I AND MY COLLEAGUES HAVE JUST LAUNCHED.

IT IS CALLED CALLED TO LOVE.

WE HAVE COME TOGETHER ON THE CORE VALUES THAT ALL PEOPLE ARE LOVED DEEPLY BY GOD AND MADE IN GOD'S IMAGE.

AS FELLOW HUMANS, WE ARE CALLED TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER AS WE LOVE OURSELVES AND TREAT EACH OTHER WITH DIGNITY AND RESPECT.

AND JESUS FOLLOWERS ARE TO BE REFLECTIONS OF HIS HEART AND HIS HANDS, ESPECIALLY FOR THOSE MARGINALIZED BY SOCIETY.

OUR VISION IS THAT THE CHURCH AND ALL THOSE WHO PROFESS TO FOLLOW JESUS FULLY RESPECT, EMBRACE, LOVE AND INCLUDE ALL PEOPLE REGARDLESS OF THEIR GENDER

[00:20:05]

IDENTITY OR SEXUAL ORIENTATION.

PARTNERING TOGETHER ON THE FAITH JOURNEY OF LOVING, HONORING AND SERVING GOD.

CALL TO LOVE INTERFACES WITH BOTH THE LGBTQ+ AND THE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITIES SERVING AS A BRIDGE FOR RECONCILIATION, SUPPORT, EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY.

WITH THE 2021 HEALTHY YOUTH SURVEY POINTING OUT THAT 30% OF OUR YOUTH IDENTIFIES AS LGBTQ IN CLARK COUNTY, AND KNOWING THAT OUR DISTRICT IS A DEEPLY RELIGIOUS COMMUNITY WHICH HAS HISTORICALLY REJECTED SEXUAL AND GENDER VARIANCE AS SIN AND ABOMINATION, THERE IS CRITICAL NEED FOR PARENTS OF FAITH IN THIS COMMUNITY TO HAVE ACCESS TO THE INFORMATION AND SUPPORT TAILORED TO THEM IN ORDER FOR OUR DISTRICT TO AVOID CATASTROPHIC ONSLAUGHT OF TRAGEDIES AMONG US IN THE NEAR FUTURE.

IF YOU SHOULD FIND YOURSELF OR KNOW SOMEONE IN THIS INTERSECTION, HERE'S OUR INVITATION TO THE CALL TO LOVE PARENT AND FAMILY SUPPORT GROUP, WHICH IS STARTING IN AUGUST.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU.

THANK YOU. AND JENNIFER, YOU'RE NEXT.

WELL, GOOD EVENING, EVERYBODY, AND HAPPY SUMMER.

I'M HERE TODAY TO COMMEND THE BATTLE GROUND SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR A PROGRAM THAT I NEVER KNEW EXISTED.

I MOVED DOWN HERE TO SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON IN 1985, AND I WAS A GRADUATE OF PRAIRIE HIGH SCHOOL.

I MOVED OUT HERE TO BATTLE GROUND IN 1999, AND ALL THREE OF MY KIDS WENT THROUGH THE BATTLE GROUND SCHOOL SYSTEM FROM K THROUGH GRADUATION.

I NEVER KNEW THIS PROGRAM EXISTED, AND I THINK IT'S A FANTASTIC ONE THAT NEEDS TO BE SHOUTED FROM THE ROOFTOPS.

SO YOU ALL PROBABLY KNOW ABOUT IT.

IT'S CALLED THE BATTLE GROUND BARKERY.

AND MARY TOLD ME ABOUT THIS PROGRAM THAT YOU HAVE CONTINUING EDUCATION FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES.

WE'RE ON IEPS, SO I JUST STOPPED IN THERE ONE DAY A FEW WEEKS AGO ON A WHIM AND SAID, I JUST HEARD ABOUT YOU.

CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT YOUR PROGRAM? SHOW ME AROUND.

THEY WERE MORE THAN HAPPY TO.

VERY NICE. I MET SOME FANTASTIC STUDENTS, A VERY NICE STUDENT, YOUNG LADY NAMED NICOLE.

SHE GAVE ME A TOUR AND SHOWED ME AROUND WHAT THEY DO.

I MET A COUPLE OF GENTLEMEN, CHRISTIAN AND LUKE, TWO OF THE YOUNG MEN THAT I MET.

THEY TOLD ME ALL ABOUT THE PROGRAM AND WHAT THEY'RE DOING.

THEY'RE LEARNING HOW TO GROCERY SHOP, DO LAUNDRY, WASH DISHES, TAKE CARE OF A HOME, SOCIAL SKILLS, LIFE SKILLS, ALL THESE THINGS THAT THEY NEED TO DO TO BE INDEPENDENT, LEARNING HOW TO RIDE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION.

AND THEN THEY'RE GOING ON TO JOB SITES AND LEARNING HOW TO DO A JOB.

LUKE ONE OF THE YOUNG MEN THAT I TALKED TO, HE HAD JUST GOTTEN BACK FROM HIS JOB LOCATION, WHICH WAS ON A RIDGEFIELD TREE FARM, AND TOLD ME ALL ABOUT HOW MUCH HE LOVED DOING IT.

THE OTHERS TOLD ME THEY HAD WORKED AT A VETERINARY CLINIC.

THE FOOD BANK TOLD ME ABOUT THEIR FAVORITE JOBS.

WORKING WITH THE ANIMALS WAS ONE OF THE FAVORITE THAT THEY REALLY LIKED DOING, BUT THEN TOLD ME ABOUT HOW THEY MAKE THESE DOG TREATS AND IT HELPS SUPPORT THE CENTER.

THIS IS A FANTASTIC PROGRAM THAT I THINK OUR COMMUNITY REALLY NEEDS TO KNOW ABOUT.

LIKE I SAID, I'VE LIVED HERE FOR OVER 30 YEARS, DIDN'T KNOW IT EXISTED, BUT NOW THAT I DO, I'M GOING TO BE LOOKING FOR THOSE DOG TREATS IN THE BUSINESSES HERE IN BATTLE GROUND.

SO IT'S JUST A SUGGESTION TO DENNY AND THE BOARD MAYBE FIND A WAY TO REALLY HIGHLIGHT THIS THIS ORGANIZATION AND WHAT YOU'RE DOING FOR THESE STUDENTS AND ENCOURAGING PEOPLE TO GO AND LOOK FOR BATTLE GROUND BARKERY DOG BISCUITS.

SO THANK YOU.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU, GENTLEMEN.

RIGHT. SOUNDS LIKE A PODCAST EPISODE IF IT'S NOT ALREADY.

[00:25:01]

YEAH. THERE YOU GO.

GOOD. GOOD ONE.

WRITE THAT DOWN. THAT CONCLUDES OUR CITIZENS COMMENTS.

WITH THAT, WE WILL MOVE ON TO THE CONSENT AGENDA FOR THIS EVENING.

[8. Consent Agenda (Board Vote w/Student Voice)]

WE HAVE ON OUR AGENDA TONIGHT APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES FROM THE REGULAR MEETING AND THE SPECIAL MEETING PERSONNEL REPORT, STUDENT TRAVEL, FINANCIAL REPORTS, COMPLETED PROJECTS REQUESTED FOR APPROVAL, INGENUITY, CONTRACT FOR BGVA AND THEN THE 2023-24 MINIMUM BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT COLLECTIONS.

IS THERE ANYTHING ON THE CONSENT AGENDA THAT SHOULD BE REMOVED OR PULLED TO ITS OWN ITEM? OR QUESTIONS ABOUT ANY OF THE ITEMS ON THE CONSENT AGENDA TONIGHT? I MOVE THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS APPROVE THE CONSENT AGENDA AS PRESENTED.

ALL RIGHT. WE HAVE A MOTION ON THE FLOOR TO APPROVE THE CONSENT AGENDA AS PRESENTED.

I WOULD BE LOOKING FOR AN ADVISORY VOTE FROM OUR STUDENT BOARD MEMBER, PRO.

OKAY. WE HAVE OUR ADVISORY VOTE.

HEARING NO FURTHER QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS.

ALL THOSE IN FAVOR, PLEASE SAY AYE.

AYE. ALL THOSE OPPOSED.

MOTION PASSES 5 TO 0.

AND WITH THAT WE WILL MOVE ON TO THERE IS NO OLD BUSINESS, SO WE WILL MOVE ON TO NEW BUSINESS.

[10. New Business (Board Vote w/Student Voice)]

AND WE HAVE THE FIRST READING OF THE PSYCHOLOGY CURRICULUM WITH DAVE CRESAP.

HAVE A POWERPOINT THAT I'M NOT SURE [INAUDIBLE] OR ANOTHER OPTION I CAN SAY IS MAYBE JUST SHARE IT WITH EVERYBODY ON THE BOARD.

OKAY. IT IS THIS ONE IS ON BOARD DOCS IF EVERYBODY SO IF YOU WANT TO JUST TALK US THROUGH IT, WE'LL FOLLOW ALONG.

SO WHILE WE'RE WAITING FOR THAT.

SO YEAH, SO HIGH SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGY, THIS IS A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT SORT OF AN ADOPTION PROCESS FOR A SINGLETON COURSE, HIGH SCHOOL COURSE THAN WHAT WE TYPICALLY DO FOR LIKE A K-8, ELA OR MIDDLE SCHOOL, SOCIAL STUDIES AND STUFF LIKE THAT.

USUALLY IN THESE SORT OF SINGLETON COURSES, IT'S A MATTER OF A TEACHER OR TWO GET TOGETHER.

THEY WANT A NEW TEXTBOOK.

THEY THEY HAVE SOME IDEAS ABOUT THAT.

THEY COME TO US AND WE, YOU KNOW, BASICALLY JUST APPROVE THAT.

WE'VE BEEN GETTING A LITTLE BIT MORE IN THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS, FORMALIZED WITH THAT AND ACTUALLY FORMING A COMMITTEE AND STUFF LIKE THAT.

SO BUT JUST KIND OF WANTED TO PREFACE THAT.

SO IF YOU LOOK AT SLIDE TWO, IT ACTUALLY SHOWS THE COMMITTEE MEMBERS THAT WERE ON IT.

AND SO THOMAS [INAUDIBLE], DAWN ROWE AND STUART DEMAS WERE TEACHERS.

THIS IS DAWN ROWE HERE WITH ME.

SO SHE TEACHES PSYCHOLOGY, ACTUALLY APPLIED PSYCHOLOGY AT PRAIRIE HIGH SCHOOL.

JULIANNE MAIN AND KELLY TORRES ARE ADMINISTRATORS AND THEN JEFFREY CATANIA, SARAH HIGH AND RIMA CHYZOWYCH ARE COMMUNITY MEMBERS.

AND THEN WE'VE LISTED MYSELF AND ALLISON AS WELL.

SO THAT WAS THE MAKEUP OF THE COMMITTEE.

THE SO SLIDE THREE, JUST A LITTLE BIT OF BACKGROUND INFORMATION.

WE HAVE THE COURSE CALLED PSYCHOLOGY THAT'S TAUGHT AT BATTLE GROUND HIGH SCHOOL AT SUMMIT VIEW HIGH SCHOOL AND AT RIVER HOMELINK.

AT PRAIRIE WE HAVE A COURSE THAT'S SIMILAR, BUT ACTUALLY A YEAR LONG INSTEAD OF A SEMESTER CALLED APPLIED PSYCHOLOGY.

AND THEN AT BOTH OF THE COMPREHENSIVE HIGH SCHOOLS, WE OFFER AP PSYCHOLOGY.

AP PSYCHOLOGY HAS THE AP TEXTBOOK THAT WE USE THAT GOES WITH THAT.

MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT FOR BOTH PSYCHOLOGY AND APPLIED PSYCHOLOGY, WE'VE NEVER HAD A FORMAL TEXT THAT'S BEEN ADOPTED.

THEY MAY HAVE USED THE AP TEXT A LITTLE BIT, BUT FOR A VARIETY OF REASONS, ESPECIALLY THE READING LEVEL, THEY DECIDED THEY WANT TO ADOPT THEIR OWN BOOK WITH THAT.

AND SO SO THAT'S PRETTY MUCH SLIDE THREE.

JUST A LITTLE BIT OF BACKGROUND INFORMATION ABOUT HOW IT'S COME TO BE TO ADOPT A BOOK FOR PSYCHOLOGY.

SO THE PROCESS, SLIDE FOUR IS PARALLEL TO THE PROCESSES THAT YOU'VE SEEN BEFORE THAT WE'VE DONE, ALTHOUGH LIKE I SAID, IT STARTED OUT AS VERY, VERY SMALL IN NATURE 2 OR 3 TEACHERS, NOT A BIG COMMITTEE.

YOU KNOW, WE DIDN'T DO A FORMAL REQUEST FOR QUOTE AND THOSE SORTS OF THINGS.

[00:30:01]

WE THAT STARTED HAPPENING IN DECEMBER.

WE BROUGHT TOGETHER THE TEACHERS.

YOU KNOW, WE DID SOME CORE BELIEF STUFF AND AND FOUNDATIONAL THINGS CAME UP WITH A RUBRIC TO TO SCORE THINGS LIKE THAT.

AND PRETTY MUCH IT WAS LIKE WE, WE HAD COME TO A POINT WHERE, OKAY, WE HAVE A RECOMMENDATION AND THEN WE KIND OF STARTED LOOKING A LITTLE CLOSER AND WE REALIZED THAT BECAUSE OF THE NATURE OF THE THE CONTENT OF PSYCHOLOGY AND, AND ALSO A PSYCHOLOGY TEXTBOOK, THAT THERE ARE TOPICS IN IT THAT IN THE PAST OUR COMMUNITY HAS DEEMED AS SENSITIVE.

AND WE I DIDN'T WANT TO WE DIDN'T WANT TO BE ALLISON, I DIDN'T WANT TO BE IN A POSITION WHERE WE CAME TO THE BOARD AND PROPOSED A TEXTBOOK THAT, YOU KNOW, EVEN THOUGH THEY'RE NOT MAJOR COMPONENTS OF THE PSYCHOLOGY COURSE, THAT THERE WERE STILL SENSITIVE IN NATURE AND WE HAD NOT REALLY DONE OUR PART IN TERMS OF GETTING INPUT FROM THE COMMUNITY. SO SO WE KIND OF HIT PAUSE AND WE DECIDED TO ACTUALLY INVITE COMMUNITY MEMBERS.

YOU KNOW, WE KIND OF SENT OUT A REQUEST FOR COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO SERVE ON THE COMMITTEE AND WE DID THAT.

WE ALSO SENT OUT A FORMAL RFP.

AND THEN UNDER THE ADVICE OF DEPUTY SUPERINTENDENT SHELLY WHITTEN, WE ALSO CONSIDERED THE SCOPE AND SEQUENCE BECAUSE WE REALLY LIKE, YOU KNOW, THE THINGS THAT ARE LIKE, YOU KNOW, AROUND GENDER OR SEXUAL ORIENTATION OR SEXUALITY ARE THEY'RE NOT MAJOR COMPONENTS OF THE BOOK AND THEY'RE NOT MAJOR COMPONENTS OF THE SCOPE AND SEQUENCE OF THE COURSES WE TEACH.

BUT THEY ARE THERE. SO, SO ANYWAY, WE KIND OF WE DID A THING WHERE WE INVITED PARENTS OR COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO BE ON THAT AND WE KIND OF WE DIDN'T REALLY START OVER.

WE, WE KIND OF GOT PEOPLE UP TO SPEED.

WE ADJUSTED THE RUBRIC.

WE ADDED ONE LINE ON THE RUBRIC THAT ACTUALLY HAD A PART ABOUT HOW IT DEALS WITH SENSITIVE ISSUES.

SO OUR PROCESS, LIKE I SAY, IS IN CONTRAST TO THE OTHER PROCESSES OF KIND OF THE FULL SPECTRUM OF ALL THE DIFFERENT THINGS WITH THE MAJOR ADOPTION IS MUCH SMALLER.

BUT THEN EVEN WITH IT SMALLER, WE KIND OF DID A TWO, A TWO PART THING BECAUSE OF SOME OF THE SENSITIVE NATURE.

SO SLIDE FIVE JUST HAS THE CORE BELIEF STATEMENT THAT THE COMMITTEE CAME UP AND THIS WAS BASICALLY JUST THE DESCRIPTION IN THE SITE LIKE IN THE COURSE CATALOG.

IF THAT ACTUALLY SUMMARIZES WHAT THIS COURSE IS ABOUT AND KIND OF THE THINGS THAT GUIDE IT.

THE SLIDE SIX DOES TALK ABOUT THE SCOPE AND SEQUENCE.

THIS ACTUALLY IS FROM THOMAS [INAUDIBLE] COURSE, AND IT KIND OF SHOWS THE MAJOR TOPICS THAT ARE DISCUSSED IN THE PSYCHOLOGY CLASS.

SLIDE SEVEN IS THE RUBRIC WE USE TO SCORE THINGS.

ALL THE ALL THE MEMBERS ON THE COMMITTEE USE THIS RUBRIC.

WE ACTUALLY HAD SOME STUDENTS, I THINK A COUPLE OF YOUR STUDENTS FILLED OUT THAT RUBRIC AS WELL FOR SOME OF THE BOOKS.

SO AND THEN AND SO AND AS IT TURNED OUT, THE RECOMMENDATION THAT WE HAD THAT WAS SORT OF THE PRELIMINARY RECOMMENDATION DID NOT CHANGE.

WE ACTUALLY GOT ONE MORE TEXTBOOK FROM THE RFP THAT WE INCLUDED THAT WE LOOKED AT, BUT WE DECIDED WE STAYED WITH THE THE RECOMMENDATION.

SO WE'RE HERE TONIGHT TO RECOMMEND THINKING ABOUT PSYCHOLOGY, WHICH YOU SHOULD HAVE HAD THE BOOK TO REVIEW.

AND SO WE ALSO WE DID A COMMUNITY REVIEW AS WE AS WE ALWAYS DO.

WE HAD TWO RESPONSES AND BOTH OF THOSE WERE BASICALLY THIS SEEMED LIKE A FINE TEXTBOOK.

THERE WAS NOTHING REALLY.

I THINK ALLISON, I THINK MAYBE SENT THAT TO YOU TODAY, SO IF YOU WANT TO LOOK AT THAT.

BUT THERE WERE TWO TWO PEOPLE THAT RESPONDED TO THAT.

I THOUGHT THOSE TWO RESPONSES WERE FROM STUDENTS, THOUGH.

THEY WERE OKAY, BUT IT WAS THEY DID THAT VIA THE COMMUNITY.

YEAH. SO, YEAH.

SO STUDENTS I GUESS, OR COMMUNITY MEMBERS TOO.

YEAH, EXACTLY. AND DAWN, THIS IS A WHAT LEVEL COURSE IS THIS AND I MEAN, WHO TAKES THIS COURSE AND 10TH, 9TH AND 10TH GRADERS.

BUT PSYCHOLOGY CAN BE ALL GRADES.

OKAY. AND IT'S AN ELECTIVE COURSE.

YEP, IT COUNTS.

BUT BUT, BUT IT FITS THE SOCIAL STUDIES COUNT AS A SOCIAL STUDIES ELECTIVE OR AN ELECTIVE.

RIGHT. OKAY. SO NOT SCIENCE.

NO, I WAS WONDERING.

YEAH, YEAH. AND I THINK AT SOME OF YOU IT TYPICALLY IS MORE OF A SENIOR COURSE THERE.

AND HOW MANY IN YOUR I MEAN YOU'VE BEEN TEACHING IT FOR A WHILE NOW.

HOW MANY SECTIONS OF PSYCHOLOGY DO YOU TEACH? WELL NOW I'M ALL DAY, BUT THAT'S BECAUSE I HAVE TWO AP AND THEN THREE APPLIED.

OKAY. THIS YEAR I HAD FOUR APPLIED AND ONE AP.

OKAY. BUT NEXT YEAR YOU'LL HAVE TWO AP.

SO YOU'RE GROWING YOUR AP.

THAT JUST HAPPENED PROBABLY BECAUSE KIDS TOOK APPLIED, RIGHT? RIGHT. WELL, IT WAS INTERESTING CASE WHEN WE WE HAD THREE COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND THEY WERE REALLY THEY WERE SUPER ONE WAS A RETIRED PHD IN

[00:35:07]

PSYCHOLOGY. AND ONE THERE WAS ANOTHER PARENT WHO WHO WAS A DAUGHTER THAT HAD TAKEN IT FROM APPLIED PSYCHOLOGY AND IT WAS GOING TO TAKE AP PSYCHOLOGY.

SO YEAH, THEY WERE A VERY THEY WERE VERY INTERESTED AND ACTUALLY HAD LOTS OF GREAT INPUT TO THAT.

SO. SO ANY OTHER QUESTIONS ABOUT THE TEXTBOOK OR PROCESS OR, OR THE COURSE? ANY OTHER QUESTIONS FROM THE BOARD? I LIKE SPEED READING.

I DON'T WANT TO STOP YOU BEFORE, YOU KNOW, THERE WAS JUST A COMIC STRIP IN THERE ABOUT MACHOISM, AND I JUST.

IT WAS FUNNY, SO.

I GOT NO QUESTIONS. OKAY.

ANYBODY ELSE? I MOVE THAT THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS ACCEPT THE FIRST READING OF THE PROPOSED HIGH SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGY ADOPTION.

ALL RIGHT. WE HAVE A MOTION ON THE FLOOR TO ACCEPT THE FIRST READING OF THE PROPOSED HIGH SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGY ADOPTION.

I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE AN ADVISORY VOTE FROM OUR STUDENT BOARD MEMBER, PRO.

OKAY. ANY FURTHER COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS FROM THE BOARD? HEARING NONE.

ALL THOSE IN FAVOR, PLEASE SAY AYE.

AYE. ALL THOSE OPPOSED.

MOTION PASSES 5 TO 0.

THANK YOU, DAWN. THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME OUT OF YOUR SUMMER TO BE HERE WITH US.

WE APPRECIATE IT. YOU'RE WELCOME.

AND THANKS FOR SOLDIERING THROUGH, DAVE.

NEXT IN OUR NEW BUSINESS IS THE FIRST READING OF THE JOURNALISM TEXTBOOK, CINDY ARNOLD.

GOOD EVENING BOARD.

I ALSO HAVE A POWERPOINT, BUT I'LL JUST GO OVER MY NOTES HERE.

AND THIS IS THE NEW JOURNALISM BOOK.

I THINK YOU ALL HAVE A COPY AT THIS POINT.

THE PREVIOUS BOOK WAS ABOUT TEN YEARS OLD, AND A LOT HAS HAPPENED IN TECHNOLOGY IN THE LAST TEN YEARS.

SO IT WAS REALLY TIME TO UPDATE OUR BOOK.

THIS BOOK DOES SPEAK TO TECHNOLOGY.

IT TALKS ABOUT HOW TO DO RESEARCH IN TECHNOLOGY.

IT TALKS ABOUT HOW TO HAVE JOURNALISM WITH USING TECHNOLOGY.

ALSO, THE TEXT TALKS ABOUT CAREER RELATED TOPICS.

ON WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A JOURNALIST AND HOW DO YOU BECOME A JOURNALIST AND THAT'S REALLY AN IMPORTANT TOPIC IN CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION.

THERE'S ALSO A REALLY GOOD EXAMPLES IN THIS TEXT THAT I THINK IS VERY FRIENDLY FOR STUDENTS TO BE ABLE TO LOOK AT THOSE EXAMPLES.

THE CTE PROCESS, WE LOOK AT POSSIBLE TEXTBOOKS IN CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION, AND THERE WERE NOT A LOT FOR JOURNALISM, NOT A LOT OF ACTUAL TEXTBOOKS.

THERE ARE RESOURCES THAT YOU CAN LOOK AT THAT TALK ABOUT ONE PART OF JOURNALISM OR ANOTHER, BUT AN ACTUAL COMPREHENSIVE TEXT.

THERE JUST WERE NOT THAT MANY.

THERE ALSO ARE NOT A LOT OF TEXTS THAT INCORPORATE SOCIAL MEDIA TALKING ABOUT JOURNALISM ITSELF, BUT ALSO INCORPORATE SOCIAL MEDIA.

NOT ALL WERE APPROPRIATE FOR A HIGH SCHOOL JOURNALISM CLASS, AND MANY OF THE JOURNALISM BOOKS THAT WE FOUND WERE ALSO STILL OUTDATED.

SO WE REALLY WANTED A CURRENT JOURNALISM BOOK.

THE PROCESS FOR CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION IS TEACHERS MEET WITH THEIR ADVISORY BOARD AND ACTUALLY AMANDA IS ONE OF OUR ADVISORY BOARD MEMBERS ON OUR JOURNALISM ADVISORY COMMITTEE.

SO SHE COULD ACTUALLY SPEAK TO THAT PART OF IT AND WHAT THAT PROCESS WOULD LOOK LIKE OR ANSWER QUESTIONS AS WELL.

BUT THEY APPROVED THE TEXTBOOK.

AND THEN IT GOES ON TO THE IMC WITH DAVE AND ALLISON'S GROUP AND GETS GET APPROVAL THAT WAY BEFORE IT COMES TO YOU TODAY.

AND SO I'M ASKING FOR THE SCHOOL BOARD TO PLEASE APPROVE THE FIRST READING OF THE TEXTBOOK JOURNALISM PUBLISHING ACROSS THE MEDIA SECOND EDITION WITH GOODHEART WILLCOX COMPANY.

DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS FOR ME? THIS OPERATIVE, BOTH AT PRAIRIE AND BATTLE GROUND? THIS PARTICULAR JOURNALISM CLASS, IS A CTE SPECIFIC.

[00:40:02]

BUT ONCE THE TEXTBOOK GETS APPROVED BY THE SCHOOL BOARD, IF JOURNALISM IS OFFERED AT BATTLE GROUND, IT COULD BE USED THERE AS WELL OR ANY OTHER SCHOOL IN OUR DISTRICT.

IT JUST HAPPENS THAT THIS IS THE SCHOOL PAPER AND THE JOURNALISM CLASS AT PRAIRIE.

INTERESTING SECTION ON FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS OF STUDENTS.

YES. VERY IMPORTANT.

INTERESTING THAT THEY HAVE THAT ABILITY.

YEAH IN SCHOOLS.

OTHER QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS? DID YOU READ THE BOOK, RICARDO? I DIDN'T GET THE COPY BECAUSE I GRADUATED.

YEAH. I'M SORRY.

THAT WAS PAINFUL. PUT YOU ON THE SPOT.

ENTERTAIN A MOTION.

ANYBODY WHO DOESN'T HAVE ANY MORE QUESTIONS.

I MAKE A MOTION THAT THE BOARD APPROVE THE FIRST READING OF THE PROPOSED TEXTBOOK JOURNALISM PUBLISHING ACROSS THE MEDIA.

ALL RIGHT. WE HAVE A MOTION TO ACCEPT THE FIRST READING OF THE JOURNALISM TEXTBOOK PUBLISHING ACROSS THE MEDIA.

WE HAVE AN ADVISORY VOTE FROM OUR STUDENT, PRO.

ALL RIGHT. ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS FROM THE BOARD? ALL THOSE IN FAVOR, PLEASE SAY AYE.

AYE. ALL THOSE OPPOSED? MOTION PASSES 5 TO 0.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU.

ALL RIGHT. NEXT, WE HAVE THE APPROVAL OF THE CONTRACT FOR THE CAM ACADEMY CAMPUS SITE WORK PHASE THREE.

MR. JOLMA. GOOD EVENING, BOARD.

YEAH, WE'VE HAD TWO SEPARATE SITE WORKS.

THE ADMIN WILL STAY WHERE THEY'RE AT WHILE WE FINISH UP THE ADMIN.

IT'S NOT SETTING TILL AUGUST 15TH, SO.

BUT EVERYTHING AROUND, EVERYTHING, EVERYTHING AS YOU LOOK AT IT, EVERYTHING TO THE NORTH OR TO THE LEFT OF IT, WHERE THE KIDS WILL BE WILL BE 100% COMPLETE.

DOES THAT INCLUDE THE AND THE BUILDING? AND THE BUILDING WILL BE IN PLACE AS WELL.

DOES THAT INCLUDE THE COURTYARD? YES. EVERYTHING.

PLAY SHED PROBABLY WON'T BE READY FOR OPENING.

NO, IT WON'T BE READY FOR OPENING DAY, BUT IT'S BIDDING OUT AS WELL.

WE'RE GOING TO EXPEDITE THE IT'S NOT IN THIS CONTRACT, BUT THIS YEAR I'M GOING TO DO THE THE PLAY SHED FOOTINGS.

I'M GOING TO CONTRACT WITH THESE GUYS.

THEY'RE GOING TO PUT IN MY TWO BY EIGHT BY TWO FOOT THICK FOOTINGS WHILE THEY HAVE THEIR EQUIPMENT HERE ON SITE.

NO MOBILIZATION THAT WAY WHEN THE PLAY SHED ARRIVES, IT'LL BE UP AND UP AND RUNNING WITHIN A FEW WEEKS OF WHEN THE PACKET DROPS.

ANY OTHER QUESTIONS FROM THE BOARD? I MOVE THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS APPROVE THE CONTRACT FOR THE THIRD PHASE OF THE CAM ACADEMY CAMPUS SITE WORK.

OKAY. WE HAVE A MOTION ON THE FLOOR TO APPROVE THE CONTRACT FOR THE THIRD PHASE OF CAM ACADEMY CAMPUS SITEWORK.

THAT IS A MOUTHFUL.

MAY WE HAVE AN ADVISORY VOTE FROM OUR STUDENT BOARD REP? PRO. ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS? THE BOARD. ALL THOSE IN FAVOR, PLEASE SAY AYE.

AYE. ALL THOSE OPPOSED? MOTION PASSES 5 TO 0.

THANK YOU. NEXT, WE HAVE THE APPROVAL OF THE CONTRACT FOR BATTLE GROUND HIGH SCHOOL HALLWAY FLOORING REPLACEMENT.

NOW, THIS WILL BE THE LAST ONE ON BATTLE GROUND HIGH SCHOOL FLOORING AS WELL.

FYI, OVER THE LAST OVER THE LAST TWO SUMMERS PLUS THIS SUMMER, WE WILL HAVE REPLACED FOUR AND A HALF ACRES, FOUR AND A HALF ACRES OF FLOORING AT BATTLE GROUND HIGH SCHOOL ALONE.

SO GLAD TO GET THIS ONE UNDERWAY FINISHED.

THIS ONE'S A LEVY FUNDED.

I NOTICE WE DIDN'T PUT THAT ON THE COVER SHEET.

[00:45:02]

THIS WILL GET RID OF ALL THE 1994 CARPET.

WE'LL HAVE NO MORE CARPETS IN THE HALLWAYS.

THERE'LL BE [INAUDIBLE] TILE JUST LIKE THE HALF THE SCHOOL IS BOARD'S ALREADY APPROVED THE ASBESTOS REMOVAL WHERE WE KNOW THERE'S ASBESTOS.

NOT TOO MANY. NOT TOO MANY SPOTS THIS SUMMER.

AND THIS WILL WRAP UP BATTLE GROUND HIGH SCHOOL AFTER COVID AND THREE YEARS.

IT'S A BIG BUILDING.

BOARD YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? THIS IS IN THE MAIN ENTRYWAY.

NO, THIS IS THE SCHOOL.

THE BATTLE GROUND. ALL THE HALLWAYS.

THE HALLWAYS. OH, WE HAVE CARPETING.

RIGHT? RIGHT.

OKAY. AND YOU DON'T.

IT SAYS YOU DON'T HAVE A COLOR SCHEME PICKED OUT YET.

YEAH, WE DID. YOU DO? YEAH. AT THE TIME.

ARE YOU READING THE CONTRACT? I'M READING THEIR QUOTE.

YEAH. YEAH. AT THAT TIME, WE DIDN'T HAVE.

IT'S JUST A PERCENTAGE THAT WE OPERATE ON.

THEY WANT TO KNOW HOW MANY GRAYS, HOW MANY WHITES, HOW MANY BLACKS.

OKAY, IT'S GRAY WHITE.

I'M GOING TO MATCH WHAT'S THERE, THE PATTERNS AND THE COLORS.

OKAY. THAT JUST WE JUST STAYED WITHIN THEIR PERCENTAGES.

THEY DON'T WANT 25 COLORS, SO.

FAIR ENOUGH. BUT THEY'RE PICKED OUT.

OKAY. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS FROM THE BOARD? I MOVE THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS TO APPROVE THE CONTRACT FOR BATTLE GROUND HIGH SCHOOL HALLWAY FLOORING REPLACEMENT.

ALL RIGHT. WE HAVE A MOTION ON THE FLOOR TO APPROVE THE CONTRACT FOR THE BATTLE GROUND HIGH SCHOOL HALLWAY FLOORING REPLACEMENT.

WE HAVE AN ADVISORY VOTE FROM OUR STUDENT BOARD REP, PRO.

OKAY. ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS FROM THE BOARD? HEARING NONE. ALL THOSE IN FLAVOR.

FAVOR. NOT FLAVOR.

FAVOR, PLEASE SAY AYE.

AYE. ALL THOSE OPPOSED.

MOTION PASSES 5 TO 0.

THANK YOU AGAIN. THANK YOU.

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST, WE IN OUR NEW BUSINESS, WE HAVE THE RESOLUTION D-23 REQUESTING A WAIVER OF THE 180 DAY SCHOOL REQUIREMENT FOR THE 2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR, SHELLY.

AS I ALLUDED TO, WE WENT INTO THIS YEAR KNOWING THAT WE HAD THE WAIVER DAYS AND ALLOWING OUR TEACHERS ABOUT AN EIGHT WEEK WINDOW IN ORDER TO REALLY HELP THEM WITH THE FINAL TWO QUESTIONS OF THE PLC PROCESS.

WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN KIDS HAVEN'T LEARNED IT AND AND WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN KIDS HAVE ALREADY LEARNED IT AND NEED SOME EXTENSIONS? WHAT WE REALIZED EARLY ON LAST YEAR WHEN WE DID OUR PRESENTATION AND WHEN WE SURVEYED STAFF IS THAT THEY WERE GETTING TO THE ESSENTIAL STANDARDS, THEY WERE BUILDING THE PLANS. BUT THE PROBLEM WAS, IS THAT THAT PART, THAT PROCESS IS SUCH A LONG PROCESS THAT THEY NEEDED MORE TIME IN ORDER TO DO THAT, SO THAT ON A WEEKLY BASIS, WHEN THEY HAVE THEIR LATE STARTS, THEY COULD ADJUST THEIR INSTRUCTION JUST IN TIME IN ORDER TO MEET THE NEEDS OF KIDS.

THROUGHOUT THIS YEAR WE WERE RECEIVING FEEDBACK, ONGOING FEEDBACK FROM STAFF AND I WILL TELL YOU, AT THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR THERE WERE SOME ROCKY STARTS AT TIMES WHEN WE WERE IMPLEMENTING THE PROCESS AND HELPING PEOPLE TO REALLY HONE IN ON WHAT THOSE PROCESSES WERE.

BUT AS THE YEAR UNFOLDED, THE STRENGTH OF THE STAFF GREW THROUGH THE PROCESS, PRACTICING THE SAME PROCESS OVER AND OVER AND FOLDING IN MORE PIECES TO IT.

WE DID HEAR SOME FEEDBACK THAT MADE US THINK MAYBE WE SHOULD BE GOING IN A DIFFERENT DIRECTION.

WE WERE HEARING THINGS LIKE, OH, THE DAY IS TOO LONG.

WE'RE EXHAUSTED BY THE MIDDLE OF THE AFTERNOON BEFORE THE DAY IS OVER.

WE'RE OUR MINDS ARE JUST GONE.

WE WERE HEARING THINGS LIKE, WELL, THE WAIVER, THE LENGTH OF THE THAT EIGHT WEEKS, IT'S WAY TOO LONG.

WE WERE HEARING THINGS LIKE THAT FROM STAFF.

AND WHAT WE DIDN'T KNOW YET IS WHETHER THAT WAS FELT BY ALL STAFF OR A HANDFUL OF STAFF.

SO LIKE WE DID THE YEAR BEFORE, WE DID A SURVEY THIS SPRING TO FIND OUT, YOU WILL FIND THAT IN YOUR ADMINISTRATIVE CONTENT IF YOU WANT TO REFER TO IT.

OTHERWISE I'M JUST GOING TO WALK YOU THROUGH IT.

WE DID A COUPLE OF THINGS.

WE WANTED TO FIND OUT IF IT WAS DIFFERENT FOR DIFFERENT TYPES OF GROUPS OF EDUCATORS, AND WE DID BELIEVE THAT THAT WAS PROBABLY TRUE, BUT WE DIDN'T KNOW EXACTLY HOW IT WAS IMPACTING THEM.

AND WHAT WE FOUND IS THAT IT WAS DEFINITELY TRUE.

SO WE FIRST ASKED THE TYPE OF EDUCATOR AND THEN WHAT LEVEL THEY WERE FROM.

AND AND THEN WE ASKED THEM SPECIFICALLY IN THE SEVEN STEPS OF THE PLC PROCESS, WHAT DID THEY FEEL WAS WORKING REALLY WELL? WELL, THEY WERE DOING STEPS ONE AND TWO, THE PLANNING PROCESS VERY WELL.

IT WAS THE IMPLEMENTATION OF A CYCLICAL PROCESS AROUND THE KIDS THAT DIDN'T GET IT MID UNIT.

[00:50:03]

SO WE BEGAN TO REALIZE THAT WHILE WE WERE WE WERE TEACHING IT AND WE WERE GOING THROUGH THE STEPS, WE WEREN'T ALWAYS LOOPING BACK AROUND, RETEACHING, REASSESSING, REORGANIZING THE CLASSROOM IN ORDER TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE KIDS THAT WERE WERE NOT GETTING THAT STANDARD.

SO THAT CONTINUES TO BE IT'S AN IMPROVEMENT OVER WHAT WE SAW FROM LAST YEAR, BUT IT'S STILL NOT AS HIGH AS WE NEED IT TO BE TO FEEL CONFIDENT ABOUT OUR IMPLEMENTATION.

THE OTHER THING THAT WE ASKED IS HOW VALUABLE DID YOU FIND? DID THEY FIND THE WAIVER DAYS? BECAUSE WE WERE GETTING MIXED MESSAGES AND WE WANTED TO CHECK THAT.

THE REALITY IS FROM EXTREMELY VALUABLE TO VALUABLE AND TO SOMEWHAT VALUABLE ALMOST ALL OF OUR STAFF WE WERE IN, THE 92% WERE WERE ALL IN THAT REGION. AND FRANKLY, REALLY BETWEEN THE TWO, WE WERE AT ALMOST 70% FOR VERY EXTREMELY VALUABLE AND VALUABLE.

SO CERTAINLY STAFF WAS FINDING THAT USE THAT THAT BULK OF TIME TOGETHER VALUABLE AS A WHOLE.

BUT WE WANTED TO DIG IN A LITTLE BIT MORE.

SO THOSE PEOPLE THAT WERE NOT FINDING IT AS VALUABLE, WERE THERE ANY TRENDS? AND WHAT WE FOUND IS THERE WERE SOME TRENDS.

IT WAS REALLY EXTREMELY VALUABLE FOR PRIMARY MIDDLE SCHOOL.

THEY WERE WELL ABOVE 50%, ALES WERE ABOUT 52%, A LOT MORE SINGLETON'S AND OUR HIGH SCHOOLS WERE A BIT LOWER.

THE OTHER THING THAT WE BROKE DOWN IS WE STARTED LOOKING AT EMPLOYEE TYPES.

AND THIS IS AN AREA WHERE WE RECEIVED A LOT OF FEEDBACK THROUGH THE YEAR.

WE TRIED A VARIETY OF THINGS AND EACH TIME WE TRIED TO PIVOT, IT WAS IT WAS MET WITH MIXED RESULTS.

AND WHEN I SAY TRY TO PIVOT, FOR INSTANCE, WE TOLD PEOPLE AT THE BEGINNING, CHOOSE A CHOOSE A TEAM TO COLLABORATE WITH BASED ON THE CONTENT YOU TEACH AND THE STUDENTS THAT YOU HAVE.

BUT THEN WE HEARD FEEDBACK THAT OUR SPECIAL ED FOLKS NEEDED TO MEET TOGETHER AND SOME OF OUR OTHER FOLKS NEEDED TO MEET TOGETHER.

AND SO WE SET UP SOME TIME AVAILABLE TO THEM.

BUT WHAT THAT MEANT IS THEY WERE BEING BROUGHT IN AND TAKEN OUT OF TEAMS THAT WERE DEPENDING ON THEM, AND SO THAT HAD SOME NEGATIVE IMPACTS.

SO WHEN WE BROKE IT DOWN BY GEN ED AND THEN BY SPECIALISTS LIKE PE, MUSIC ART, ALL OF THEM WERE 65 TO 75% APPROVAL RATING OF WHAT WE WERE DOING JUST ON THE VALUABLE AND EXTREMELY VALUABLE.

HOWEVER, FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION EDUCATORS, IT WAS DOWN AROUND 27% AND IT WAS ACTUALLY DOWN AS LOW AS 21% FOR OUR ESA STAFF, OUR SCHOOL PSYCHS, OUR SLPS, THAT GROUP OF INDIVIDUALS.

WE HAVE SOME MORE WORK TO DO IN ORDER TO MAKE IT AS AS VALUABLE AS IT COULD POSSIBLY BE.

AND WE BELIEVE BASED ON WHAT WE'RE SEEING TOO, WE TALKED ABOUT IS THE WINDOW LONG ENOUGH OR IS IT TOO LONG? WELL, THE FEEDBACK WE WE WERE RECEIVING REALLY DIDN'T VET IT, DIDN'T SHOW THAT THAT WAS REALLY WHAT WAS HAPPENING.

WE HAD HEARD THAT IT WAS TOO LONG AND WE NEEDED TO SHORTEN THOSE WINDOWS.

BUT BETWEEN THE TWO WE WERE IN THE 90% FOR EITHER TOO SHORT OR JUST RIGHT. THAT'S JUST THE WAY IT SHOULD BE.

SO IT WAS PRETTY CLEAR THAT NOT EVERYTHING THAT WE WERE HEARING WAS NECESSARILY FELT BY ALL, BUT WE WERE HEARING FROM A HANDFUL OF PEOPLE THAT IT'S NOT WORKING FOR. SO WE HAVE SOME IDEAS.

WE'VE BEEN WE HAVE MET WITH THE ASSOCIATION ON SOME IDEAS, AND WE'VE MET INTERNALLY AS A GROUP.

OUR MTSS TEAM HAS CERTAINLY MET A NUMBER OF TIMES TO TALK ABOUT HOW TO HOW TO DO THIS.

AND WHILE WE DON'T ALWAYS AGREE, EVEN ON OUR TEAM, HOW TO APPROACH IT, WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO TRY UNTIL WE CAN MAKE IT VALUABLE FOR ALL OF OUR STAFF.

ACROSS THE BOARD, THOUGH, SOME OF THE COMMENTS, I'LL JUST READ A FEW BECAUSE I THINK THEY'RE PRETTY POWERFUL.

THEY COULD HAVE SAID NOTHING.

THEY COULD HAVE CHOSEN TO SKIP THIS, BUT IT WAS THINGS LIKE WITH THE WAIVER DAYS, WE WERE ABLE TO GET A REALLY GOOD START ON OUR AREA OF FOCUS.

THEN WEEKLY, WE WERE ABLE TO FINE TUNE, DISCUSS DATA AND MAKE EVEN MORE PROGRESS.

THE PLC WINDOWS AND ADDITIONAL TIME TO COLLABORATE WAS VERY VALUABLE.

OUR PLC WORK WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN AS COMPLETE OR WELL ROUNDED WITHOUT THE ADDITIONAL TIME.

THE START DATE, THE START UP DAY AND TWO WAIVER DAYS WERE EXTREMELY HELPFUL.

PLEASE CONTINUE TO PROVIDE THESE FOR TEACHERS IN THE 23-24 SCHOOL YEAR, THANKS.

WE COULD NOT HAVE ACHIEVED WHAT WE DID WITHOUT THE FULL DAY WAIVERS.

THE BIG CHUNK OF TIME ALLOWED US TO GET STARTED AND BUILD MOMENTUM FOR THE REST OF THE PLC TIME.

[00:55:02]

ANYTHING LESS THAN A FULL DAY WOULDN'T BE ENOUGH.

WITH WAIVER DAYS, WE WERE ABLE TO GET A REALLY GOOD START ON OUR AREAS OF FOCUS.

THEN WEEKLY WE WERE ABLE TO FINE TUNE, DISCUSS DATA AND MAKE EVEN MORE PROGRESS.

SO A COUPLE OF THOSE MIRRORED EACH OTHER.

WE ARE PROPOSING OUR PROPOSAL IS TO DO A VERY SIMILAR TO WHAT WE DID LAST YEAR, DO ONE ONE OF OUR NOT WAIVER DAY, BUT ONE OF OUR START UP DAYS SET ASIDE FOR PLC WORK, VERY SIMILAR TO WHAT WE DID LAST YEAR.

ONE NOVEMBER 15TH AND ONE FEBRUARY 7TH AND DO THE SAME PROCESS REFINING EVEN MORE.

SO THE TEAMS HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THE PIECES THAT THEY'RE STRUGGLING.

ONE OF THE STRUGGLES I THINK THAT WE AS AN ORGANIZATION AND ITS OTHER PEOPLE THAT ARE FOLLOWING THE SAME PATH THAT WE ARE IN OTHER DISTRICTS HAVE SAID THIS IS A NORMAL PATHWAY, THIS UNDERSTANDING THAT REALLY THE CORE OR THE TIER ONE INSTRUCTION IN THE CLASSROOM, IT'S REALLY ABOUT PREVENTION. IT'S ABOUT PREVENTING STUDENTS FROM GETTING BEHIND AND NOT UNDERSTANDING.

ONE OF THE SAYINGS THAT WE ALL RELY HEAVILY ON IS PREVENTION IS THE BEST INTERVENTION.

IF YOU CAN GET 80% OF YOUR STUDENTS UNDERSTANDING UP FRONT, THEN YOU DON'T HAVE STUDENTS THAT ARE GETTING BEHIND AND AND US NEEDING TO PLAN ADDITIONAL SUPPORTS FOR THEM. SO THAT IS OUR GOAL IS TO CONTINUE TO WORK ON THAT, PROCESSES, THOSE PROCESSES.

AND REALLY TO FINE TUNE FOR SOME OF THOSE TEAMS THAT HAVE CONTINUED THAT HAVE UNIQUE ROLES.

WHAT WE'VE HAS BECOME VERY CLEAR IS ONE OF THE REASONS THAT WE BELIEVE THAT OUR ESA STAFF OR SOME OF OUR SPECIAL ED STAFF ARE SUFFERING A LITTLE BIT MORE THAN OUR GEN ED IS BECAUSE THEY ARE THE SUPPORT TEAMS, THEY ARE THE INTERVENTION TEAMS. AND SO HOW DOES THEIR WORK LOOK WHEN THE SYSTEM THAT WE'RE BUILDING, WE'RE BUILDING FROM THE GROUND UP.

AND SO WE NEED TO GET THEM A LITTLE MORE INVOLVED IN HOW DO WE START TO BUILD THE INTERVENTION SYSTEMS AT THE SAME TIME.

AND I THINK OUR STAFF HAS BEEN OUR OWN STAFF IN DISTRICT OFFICE LEVEL HAS BEEN DIVIDED BETWEEN ALL OF THE LEVELS AND DOING ALL OF THE WORK. NOW THAT I FEEL LIKE OUR GEN ED TEACHERS REALLY UNDERSTAND THE PROCESS, I THINK IT'S A GOOD TIME FOR US TO BE ABLE TO FOCUS MORE ON THOSE OTHER EMPLOYEE GROUPS THAT HAVE HAVE STRUGGLED WITH HOW DO WE MAKE THIS WORK FOR OUR ROLE.

HOW DO WE DO THAT SO THAT WE SUPPORT STUDENT LEARNING.

SO WE IN THE IN THE POWERPOINT, THERE ARE SOME FRAMEWORKS THAT WE'RE USING TO HELP STAFF UNDERSTAND A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT THE PROCESS.

BUT ULTIMATELY, I GUESS AT THIS POINT I'M JUST ASKING THAT YOU CONSIDER TWO WAIVER DAYS NEXT YEAR IN ORDER TO CONTINUE THE GOOD WORK THAT'S BEEN STARTED.

WE KNOW THAT ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE HAVE TO HAVE IS SOME OUTCOMES THAT ARE THAT ARE REALLY POSITIVE.

WE DON'T HAVE THOSE FOR YOU YET.

THAT'S ONE OF THE THINGS THAT OUR TEAM IS WORKING ON BEYOND THE DATA THAT WE HAVE, THE PERCEPTION DATA THAT WE HAVE FOR YOU, WE CAN SEE IT IN THE PRACTICES CHANGING, BUT RIGHT NOW WE CAN'T TELL YOU THAT IT'S TRANSFERRING OVER TO THE ACADEMIC SUCCESS FOR OUR STUDENTS YET.

THESE ARE ESSENTIALLY THE SAME TWO DAYS WE APPROVED LAST YEAR.

JUST MAYBE SLIDE ON THE CALENDAR A LITTLE BIT.

ONE WEEK WE MOVED BECAUSE OF THE WHERE VETERANS DAY FALLS.

WE WOULD HAVE HAD WE WOULD HAVE HAD MONDAY, TUESDAY OFF, WEDNESDAY HERE, THURSDAY, AND THEN VETERANS DAY.

WE THOUGHT THAT'S A REALLY BAD IDEA.

SO WE MOVED IT TO THE NEXT WEEK WHEN THERE WAS NO NO UNIQUENESS TO THE CALENDAR.

SO BUT OTHER THAN THAT, THEY'RE THE SAME.

SO LOOKING AT THE DATA, IT WOULD APPEAR THAT THE HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS FIND THE LEAST VALUE IN THE WAIVER DAYS.

AND WE BELIEVE WHEN WE LOOKED AT THAT, A LOT OF IT, A LOT OF THOSE STAFF MEMBERS ARE SINGLETONS.

AND WE'VE TALKED TO SOME SPECIFIC STAFF MEMBERS ABOUT THAT.

AND ONE OF THE STRUGGLES THAT THEY HAVE IS THEY TEACH TWO, THREE CONTENT AREAS.

SO DECIDING WHICH PLC TO WORK WITH, THEY'VE BEEN ALLOWED TO HAVE THE ABILITY TO MOVE BETWEEN TEAMS. AND SO THAT HASN'T BEEN AS SUCCESSFUL.

ONE OF THE THINGS WE'VE LEARNED ABOUT PLCS IS YOU HAVE TO HAVE INTERDEPENDENCE.

AND WHEN YOU HAVE PEOPLE COMING AND GOING DURING A PLC WINDOW, DURING A WAIVER CYCLE, YOU YOU HAVE PEOPLE NOT BEING INTERDEPENDENT WITH EACH OTHER BECAUSE I'M COUNTING ON YOU TO SHOW UP WITH YOUR DATA NEXT WEEK SO THAT WE CAN PLAN TOGETHER ON HOW WE'RE GOING TO INTERVENE WITH THE KIDS FROM OUR TWO CLASSES.

AND YOU CAN'T DO THAT IF ONE PERSON HOPS OVER FROM THEIR SOCIAL STUDIES CLASS TO THEIR OR THEIR US HISTORY CLASS TO THEIR AP GOVERNMENT CLASS.

[01:00:03]

AND SO WE ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE'VE REALIZED IS PEOPLE NEED TO STAY IN IN WHATEVER GROUP THEY'RE WORKING WITH FOR THE WINDOW, THEY NEED TO STAY IN FOR THAT AMOUNT OF TIME SO THAT THEY'RE NOT MOVING BACK AND FORTH.

WE'VE CERTAINLY ANECDOTALLY SEEN MORE SUCCESS FROM THE LARGER DEPARTMENTS, LIKE IF YOU SAY YOUR ENGLISH DEPARTMENT OR YOUR MATH DEPARTMENT OR YOUR, YOU KNOW, WHERE WE HAVE A LOT OF TEACHERS TEACHING THE SAME SUBJECT AREA, IT IS THE CHALLENGE IN IN THE HIGH SCHOOLS IS THAT THERE'S A LOT OF SPECIALIZED CLASSES.

SO IT'S HARD TO FIND TEAMS. BUT WE'VE DONE SOME RESEARCH TOO AROUND WHAT HAS HAPPENED, WHAT WORKS BEST AT HIGH SCHOOLS AND ACROSS THE BOARD.

WHAT WE'RE HEARING IS THE BEST WAY TO APPROACH THE PLC PROCESS TO HELP PEOPLE LEARN IT IS TO FIND A STANDARD THAT EVERYONE WORKS ON TOGETHER ACROSS CONTENT AREAS.

SO MAIN IDEA, FOR INSTANCE, YOU KNOW.

YEAH. SO THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT WE'LL OFFER THAT UP AS A SOLUTION.

CERTAINLY WE WANT PEOPLE TO WORK ON THE THINGS THAT ARE MOST RELEVANT TO THEM.

BUT UNTIL YOU LEARN THE PROCESS, IT'S REALLY HARD TO FIND THE VALUE IN THE PROCESS UNTIL TILL YOU'RE VETTED IN IT.

SO WE HAVE SOME WORK TO DO THERE.

SOME STAKEHOLDERS.

YEAH. I WAS CURIOUS.

SORRY TO CUT ANYBODY OFF.

I WAS CURIOUS ABOUT THE 311 RESPONSES ON THE SURVEY.

YEAH, THERE'S A LOT AND NOT ALL OF THEM ARE THAT POSITIVE.

I WILL TELL YOU, THERE'S A HANDFUL OF THEM THAT ARE THAT ARE JUST SAYING THAT THEY THEY'RE STRUGGLING TO FIND HOW TO COLLABORATE WITH ANOTHER PERSON BECAUSE THERE'S ONLY ONE PERSON OR THEY'RE STRUGGLING WITH VARIOUS THINGS.

THE OTHER THING ABOUT THE SURVEY IS BECAUSE THERE WERE 311, WHILE THAT'S STATISTICALLY RELEVANT, IT CERTAINLY ISN'T AS MANY STAFF MEMBERS AS WE WOULD HAVE LIKED TO HAVE TAKEN IT. WE HAVE NEARLY 800 CERTIFICATED STAFF.

SO YEAH, IT'S NOT AS REPRESENTATIVE AS WE WOULD LIKE, BUT STATISTICALLY RELEVANT.

YEAH, I THINK THAT WAS WHAT CAUGHT MY EYE IS IT DOESN'T REPRESENT.

AND SO I WAS CURIOUS IF IT WAS INDIVIDUAL LIKE EVERYBODY WAS INVITED TO PARTICIPATE THEY WERE OR IF THEY HAD LEADERS THAT, YOU KNOW THAT GOT FEEDBACK. BUT IF I MEAN, HOW DO WE INCREASE THESE NUMBERS? BECAUSE I THINK THAT'S REALLY GOING TO SHOW US THE ACTUAL DATA THAT IS GOING TO BE REPRESENTATIVE OF THE WORK THAT'S BEING DONE HERE.

AND I MEAN, COULD IT BE AND I USE THIS WORD CAREFULLY, COULD IT BE A REQUIRED PART OF THE PROCESS? RIGHT. LIKE WE NEED THE DATA.

I THINK IT'S IMPORTANT TO ALL OF US TO KNOW THAT THIS IS BENEFICIAL.

I THINK WE'RE ALL SEEING THE BENEFITS OF IT, BUT WE'RE NOT SEEING THE RESPONSE.

SO TO NOT EVEN HAVE 50% FEELS A LITTLE UNDERREPRESENTED.

IT DOES. IT DOES.

AND I WAS WORRIED ABOUT THAT ORIGINALLY PERSONALLY.

BUT I CAN TELL YOU THAT THE FIRST TIME THAT THEY CHECKED THE DATA AND THE GRAPHS, THEY HAD 220, JUST OVER 225, 227, I THINK.

BUT THEY THEY DIDN'T CHANGE WHEN THEY CLOSED IT AND LOOKED AT THOSE GRAPHS, THEY HAD NOT CHANGED.

SO I DO THINK THAT IT'S IT IS REPRESENTATIVE OF OUR STAFF AS A WHOLE IN TERMS OF 225 TO THE GROWTH OF 311.

EXACTLY. SO THE THE GRAPHS, THE WHERE THEY FELL.

THEY MOVED A PERCENTAGE OR TWO IS ALL.

SO I DO THINK THEY ARE DEFINITELY REPRESENTATIVE OF OUR FULL STAFF.

BUT I AGREE.

WE SET ASIDE THE WINDOW WAS ABOUT A WEEK AND A HALF FOR THEM TO TAKE THE SURVEY AND WE STRATEGICALLY PUT THOSE IN SO THAT THEY WOULD HAVE A LATE START ONE WEEK AND A LATE START THE NEXT WEEK IN ORDER TO HAVE SOME TIME SET ASIDE TO TAKE IT, BECAUSE WE DO KNOW THAT IT TAKES TIME.

AND IF YOU DON'T HAVE TIME SET ASIDE, THAT MAKES IT MORE DIFFICULT TO GET THE SURVEY.

WHAT I DON'T THINK WE DID A GOOD ENOUGH JOB IS GIVING LEAD TIME FOR OUR BUILDING ADMINISTRATORS TO SET THAT UP AND SET THE EXPECTATION AROUND TAKING IT.

SO YEAH, WE CAN DO BETTER.

YEAH. SO WHEN TEAMS ARE COMING UP WITH THEIR ANSWERS TO WHAT DO WE DO IF THEY'RE NOT GETTING IT AND WHAT DO THEY DO IF THEY'VE ALREADY GOT IT AND NEED.

BUT HOW IS THAT INFORMATION COLLECTED? IS IT ONLY AT THE BUILDING LEVEL? THE TEAM LEVEL? SO IS IT.

SO WE HAVE SOME DATA ANALYSIS TOOLS.

SO ONE OF THE THINGS THAT AS A TEAM, A GUIDING COALITION AT THE DISTRICT LEVEL, WE'VE BEEN CREATING A HANDBOOK FOR STAFF IN THAT MANY OF OUR STAFF HAVE HAD A NUMBER OF TOOLS THAT WE'VE MADE AVAILABLE TO THEM, HANDOUTS THAT HAVE EXISTED.

THEY DON'T HAVE TO USE THOSE, BUT THEY'RE A GOOD MODEL FOR WHAT CAN WORK.

TYPICALLY THAT MODEL IS BASICALLY JUST WHO ARE THE KIDS THAT HAVE IT, WHO ARE THE KIDS WHO ALMOST HAVE IT, AND WHO ARE THE KIDS WHO DON'T HAVE IT?

[01:05:04]

AND THEY BRING THAT EVERY EVERY TIME THAT THEY'RE GOING TO MEET SO THAT THEY CAN GO OVER.

HOW ARE KIDS MOVING BETWEEN THEIR UNDERSTANDING OF THIS ENDURING LEARNING AND OR ARE THEY? AND SO, YEAH, THERE'S THERE'S A COUPLE OF TOOLS THAT WE HAVE WITHIN THE PLC HANDBOOK THAT WE'RE ALLOWING PEOPLE TO USE THAT OR IF THEY HAVE BETTER, EVERY BUILDING HAS KIND OF CREATED THEIR OWN WAREHOUSE TO STORE THAT INFORMATION.

SOME IT'S A SHARED DOCK THAT THEY UPLOAD THEIR, THE WORK THAT THEY'RE DOING IN THE PLC.

THEY'LL PUT THEIR GOAL IN THERE.

THEY'LL THEY'LL PUT THEIR ORIGINAL DATA, THEY'LL PUT UPDATES TO THEIR DATA THAT THEY'VE TAKEN AND THEN THEY PUT WHAT THEIR PLAN IS TO ADDRESS THAT.

SO IT'S THE WAY IN WHICH IT'S RECORDED IS DIFFERENT, BUT IT'S BY BUILDING.

OKAY. I GUESS I'M TRYING TO THINK OF OUR COHERENCE LENS OF IF THERE WERE COMMONALITIES ACROSS GRADE LEVELS OR, YOU KNOW, PRIMARY MIDDLE SCHOOL, HIGH SCHOOL OR WHATEVER, SO THAT IT LOOKS LIKE A DISTRICT SYSTEM, YOU KNOW, YEAH, WE'RE WALKING THIS FINE LINE BETWEEN, YOU KNOW, WE OFTEN USE THE LANGUAGE OF LOOSE AND TIGHT.

SO WE HAVE SOME SOME EXPECTATIONS ACROSS THE ENTIRETY OF THE DISTRICT THAT ARE TIGHT.

AND THEN WE HAVE THIS LEEWAY BETWEEN INDIVIDUAL TEAMS SO THAT THEY CAN DO WHAT'S BEST FOR THEIR TEAM, FOR THEIR GRADE LEVEL, FOR THEIR SUBJECT AREA. BUT I THINK IF YOU WERE TO LOOK AND EXAMINE ACROSS GRADE LEVELS, ACROSS SUBJECT MATTER, YOU WOULD DEFINE YOU WOULD BE ABLE TO FIND SOME VERY GENERAL CONSISTENCIES THAT ARE PRESENT IN THE PROCESS.

AND THE PROCESS ITSELF IS WELL LAID OUT.

BUT AGAIN, WE WE TRY TO LEAVE SOME ROOM SO THAT TEAMS CAN FIND THEIR OWN PATH.

WHAT WE DON'T WANT TO DO IS WE WE DON'T WANT TO COME ACROSS AS TRYING TO MICROMANAGE THIS.

LIKE THIS IS A TOP DOWN.

WE WANT THIS TO BE SOMETHING THAT TEACHERS SEE AS HELPFUL FOR THE WORK THAT THEY'RE DOING IN THEIR CLASSROOMS. AND THEREFORE, WE WANT THEM TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF IT AND TO TO TO FIND THE WAY THAT IT WORKS BEST FOR THEM.

AS SHELLY POINTED OUT, WHAT WE ARE DOING, THOUGH, IS WE ARE PROVIDING A LOT OF RESOURCES.

SO WHAT OUR BUILDING PRINCIPALS ARE DOING IS WHEN THEY'RE CHECKING IN WITH TEAMS AND THEY'RE ASKING QUESTIONS LIKE, HEY, HOW'S IT GOING? AND YOU KNOW, THE TEAMS ARE SAYING, WELL, YOU KNOW, WE'RE DOING THIS AND DOING IT WELL.

ARE YOU DOING THIS YET? NO, WE'RE STRUGGLING WITH THAT.

WELL, WHAT AREA ARE YOU STRUGGLING WITH? WELL, WE'VE GOT SOME RESOURCES FOR YOU.

AND I WILL TELL YOU THAT THOSE RESOURCES ARE VERY CONSISTENT ACROSS THE BOARD, ACROSS THE BOARD THERE.

AND THERE'S A LOT OF CONSISTENCY BEING BUILT BY LEVELS BECAUSE OUR PRINCIPALS ARE ARE DIRECTORS OF INSTRUCTIONAL LEADERSHIP.

MIKE, LUKE AND TRAVIS HAVE REGULAR MEETINGS MONTHLY WITH THE PRINCIPALS AT THAT LEVEL AND THEY SPEND A LARGE PART OF THEIR TIME HELPING THEM PROBLEM SOLVE THE IMPLEMENTATION.

WHAT WE DON'T WANT THIS TO DO TO BECOME BECAUSE IT HAS IN OTHER PLACES, WE DON'T WANT THIS TO TURN INTO A TIME WHERE SOMEONE HAS TO FILL OUT A FORM DURING A LATE START. WE WANT THEM DOING THE WORK, SO WE HAVE TO HAVE SOME LEVEL OF UNDERSTANDING ABOUT WHAT IT IS THAT THEY'RE DOING, WHAT THEY'RE ACCOMPLISHING WITH THAT TIME, WITHOUT IT TAKING AWAY FROM THE IMPORTANT WORK THAT THEY'RE TRYING TO DO.

AND SO WE'RE TRYING TO FIND THAT BALANCE.

AND TO DANNY'S POINT, THE THE LOOSE AND TIGHT, WHAT ARE WE GOING TO BE LOOSE ABOUT AND WHAT ARE WE GOING TO BE TIGHT ABOUT? YOU KNOW, WE'RE GOING TO BE TIGHT ON THIS IS A FOCUS ON STUDENT LEARNING.

THIS TIME IS FOR NOTHING ELSE BUT FOCUSING ON STUDENT LEARNING.

AND SO THERE ARE SPECIFICS THAT WE HAVE HAVE COMMUNICATED.

THE PURPOSE OF THIS TIME.

IT'S IT'S NOT TO PLAN A FIELD TRIP.

RIGHT. IT'S IT IS TO SIT DOWN WITH STANDARDS AND TO PLAN TOGETHER TO IMPLEMENT TOGETHER.

AND AND I BELIEVE IT IS KIND OF OUR MORAL DUTY TO PROVIDE THE TIME IN ORDER FOR PEOPLE TO FIND SUCCESS.

I THINK THE PEOPLE WHO BECOME DISENFRANCHISED WITH THEIR OWN CAREER PATH ARE THE PEOPLE WHO'VE BEEN IN THEIR CAREER PATH, AND THEY CONSISTENTLY SEE STUDENTS FAILING AND THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO ADDRESS IT.

AND TO ME, THAT'S NOT FAIR TO THEM.

BECAUSE IF YOU HAVE TO DO THAT IN ISOLATION, THAT'S A REALLY, REALLY I MEAN, NOBODY'S GETTING 100% OF THEIR KIDS ACROSS THE FINISH LINE DOING IT ALONE.

AND REALLY, YOU KNOW, THE THE GOAL IS TO WORK TOGETHER.

I WANT TO LEARN THE BEST SKILLS FROM THIS INDIVIDUAL OVER HERE.

AND I WANT TO SHARE MY BEST SKILLS AND I WANT TO LEARN THE BEST SKILLS FROM SOMEONE ELSE SO THAT I CAN MEET THE NEEDS OF THE KIDS.

SOMETIMES THAT MEANS I'M NOT GOING TO BE THE ONE TEACHING THEM.

YOU KNOW, IF THIS TEACHER OVER HERE DID A GREAT JOB, I WANT TO BE ABLE TO SAY, CAN I TAKE YOUR KIDS FOR A LITTLE WHILE?

[01:10:04]

WILL YOU TEACH MY KIDS WITH THE STRATEGY YOU USED SO THAT MY KIDS CAN HAVE SUCCESS? BECAUSE IT'S NOT ABOUT MY KIDS.

IT'S REALLY ABOUT OUR KIDS.

AND SO I THINK THAT'S A MIND MIND SHIFT FOR SOME PEOPLE TOO, YOU KNOW, EDUCATION IN AND OF ITSELF HAS ALWAYS BEEN A VERY ISOLATING PROFESSION, BUT THAT IS BEING PEELED BACK AND I THINK PEOPLE ARE GETTING A GREATER OPPORTUNITY TO WORK TOGETHER AND LEARN THE SKILLS.

I HONESTLY THINK THAT EVERYTHING THAT WE NEED TO LEARN, WE CAN LEARN FROM EACH OTHER.

I DON'T KNOW THAT WE REALLY NEED TO GO ANYWHERE ELSE TO LEARN IT.

WE'VE GOT SUCH SKILLED EDUCATORS HERE.

IT'S JUST A MATTER OF GETTING THEM TOGETHER SO THAT THEY CAN HAVE THE CONVERSATIONS THAT THEY NEED TO HAVE IN ORDER TO BE SUCCESSFUL AND INCREASE STUDENT LEARNING AND STUDENT SUCCESS. I WAS THINKING ALONG THE LINES OF AS THE PROCESS PLAYS OUT AND WE GET MORE DEFINITIVE RESPONSES AND WHAT SYSTEMS ARE ACTUALLY IN PLACE TO BE ABLE TO RESPOND TO PARENTS AND SAY, YEAH, YOUR YOUR STUDENT IS SLIGHTLY BEHIND, HERE'S THE KIND OF INTERVENTIONS YOU COULD EXPECT NO MATTER WHERE THEY ARE IN THE DISTRICT, OR YOU'VE GOT A KID THAT'S ALREADY MASTERED THIS, HERE'S THE KINDS OF EXTENSIONS YOU COULD EXPECT. YEAH.

SO THAT WE COULD HAVE A CONSISTENT RESPONSE WHEN WE'RE TALKING.

AND THAT'S ONE OF THE THINGS WE'VE AMANDA AND HER TEAM HAS HELPED US CREATE JUST TELLING PARENTS ABOUT THE FOUR COROLLARY QUESTIONS.

HELPING THEM TO AND WE'LL PUT SOMETHING OUT BEFORE CONFERENCES.

YOU KNOW, HAVE A CONVERSATION WITH YOUR CHILD'S TEACHER ABOUT WHAT IS IT THEY'RE LEARNING.

HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT THEY'VE LEARNED IT? WHAT DO YOU DO IF THEY DIDN'T? AND AND INCREASING THAT CONVERSATION BETWEEN HOMES.

WE GET TO SEE IT WHEN WE GO ON ON BOARD TOURS.

WE GET TO GO TO ONE CLASSROOM AND GO TO THE NEXT CLASSROOM AND SEE VERY SIMILAR THINGS HAPPENING IN THOSE SPACES.

BUT OUR PARENTS DON'T NECESSARILY GET TO SEE IT.

AND I THINK IT'S IT WILL CONTINUE TO GROW AND EVOLVE, BUT WE HAVE TO STAY NIMBLE AND ADJUST.

WE THOUGHT THAT WHAT WE WERE GOING TO BE TELLING YOU IS THAT WE'D LIKE TO DO A HANDFUL OF EARLY RELEASE OR LATER STARTS WE THOUGHT WE WERE GOING TO BE.

AND AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE SURVEY DATA, THAT'S NOT WHAT WE HEARD FROM STAFF, BUT THAT'S WHAT WE THOUGHT WE MIGHT BE APPROACHING JUST BECAUSE WE THOUGHT THAT MAYBE OUR TIME WOULD BE BETTER SPENT IN A DIFFERENT WAY.

BUT I THINK STAYING THE COURSE RIGHT NOW, STAYING WHERE WE'RE AT UNTIL WE TWEAK A FEW MORE THINGS, IS PROBABLY WHAT'S NEEDED AND GO SLOW TO GO FAST.

I'M KIND OF THE STANCE THAT I'M TAKING WITH OUR TEAM BECAUSE IT'S EASY FOR US TO GET REALLY EXCITED AND WANT TO DO THE NEXT PART.

BUT IF OUR TEAMS AREN'T READY FOR THAT, IT'S PROBABLY NOT A GOOD CHOICE.

WE DON'T WANT COMPLIANCE.

WE WANT PEOPLE TO BE FULLY BOUGHT IN AND KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING AND KNOW THAT IT'S SUCCESSFUL FOR THEIR KIDS BECAUSE THEN IT SUSTAINABLE.

WE DON'T NEED TO DO ANYTHING.

IT WILL HAVE ITS OWN WINGS.

SO I WOULD JUST ASK THAT YOU CONSIDER THE TWO WAIVER DAYS MOVING FORWARD.

AND IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS, I'D BE HAPPY TO TRY AND ANSWER THOSE.

I ALSO HAVE LANELL HERE.

SHE COULD CERTAINLY HELP ME TOO.

SHE'S ON THE MTSS TEAM WITH ME, SO.

FURTHER QUESTIONS? I RECOMMEND THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS ADOPT RESOLUTION D-23 TO PETITION THE OFFICE OF SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION TO WAIVE TWO DAYS DURING THE 2023-24 SCHOOL YEAR AND APPROVE THE REVISED CALENDAR, REFLECTING THE TWO DISTRICT IN-SERVICE DAYS ON NOVEMBER 15TH, 2023 AND FEBRUARY 7TH, 2024. ALL RIGHT.

WE HAVE A MOTION ON THE FLOOR THAT I'M NOT GOING TO REPEAT.

THANK YOU. MARY.

COULD I GET AN ADVISORY VOTE FROM OUR STUDENT BOARD REP? PRO.

HOW DID YOU FEEL THE IMPACTS FROM THIS AT ALL? I DID. I WAS GOING TO MENTION THAT AT LEAST IN MY MATH CLASS, WE WOULD ALWAYS BE TALKING ABOUT HOW LIKE, OH, THIS TEACHER WHO'S TEACHING THE SAME SUBJECT AS THIS OTHER TEACHER HAS BEEN LIKE TEACHING THIS KID IN LIKE A DIFFERENT WAY AND HAS BEEN USING THIS FORMAT FOR LIKE A COUPLE OF YEARS.

SO LIKE WE HAD HOMEWORK FROM ANOTHER CLASS AND THEY TALKED ABOUT PLCS A LOT THIS YEAR.

AND I THOUGHT THAT WAS REALLY COOL BECAUSE I UNDERSTOOD WHAT THAT.

THAT'S GOOD. THAT'S GOOD TO KNOW.

THANKS, RICARDO. THAT COULD BE YOUR LAST ADVISORY.

YEAH, THAT'S GREAT.

THAT'S A GOOD ONE. ALL RIGHT.

ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS FROM THE BOARD? ALL THOSE IN FAVOR, PLEASE SAY AYE.

WELL, WE'RE LOOKING INTO THAT.

OKAY. YEAH.

YEAH, WE WE DON'T HAVE ALL OF THE PIECES PUT TOGETHER, BUT WE HAVE SOME IDEAS, SO.

YEAH, YOU SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT PROBABLY FOR AN EMAIL IN THE NEXT.

JUST A LITTLE BIT. YEAH.

IF YOU'RE AROUND ON THE 15TH, THAT'S.

[Executive Session]

WITH POSSIBLE ACTION, WE WILL ADJOURN TO EXECUTIVE SESSION FOR 30 MINUTES AND BE BACK AT 7:47 TO EXTEND OR COMPLETE.

SESSION. UM, FOR THE EVALUATION OF THE SUPERINTENDENT, AND WE WILL HAVE ACTION. GREAT.

I'D LIKE TO MOVE THAT WE APPROVE THE EVALUATION OF SUPERINTENDENT DENNY WATERS.

ALL RIGHT. WE HAVE A MOTION ON THE FLOOR TO APPROVE THE EVALUATION OF THE SUPERINTENDENT.

ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS? ALL THOSE IN FAVOR, PLEASE SAY AYE.

AYE. ALL THOSE OPPOSED? MOTION PASSES 5 TO 0.

WE ALSO HAVE THE CONTRACT THAT WE REVIEWED UNDER POSSIBLE ACTION.

I MOVE THE BOARD APPROVED THE CONTRACT WITH SUPERINTENDENT DENNY WATERS.

SO WE DO HAVE A MOTION TO APPROVE THE CONTRACT AS UPDATED FOR THE 23 THROUGH 26 SCHOOL YEARS I BELIEVE.
