CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES THAT I'M IN THAT I'M INVOLVED IN INCLUDES YOUTUBE, WHERE I GOT TO DEVELOP A GREATER.

WHERE I GOT TO ENHANCE MY SPEAKING ABILITIES GREATLY.

I REALLY IMPROVED FROM WHERE I WAS LAST YEAR WHEN I WAS NOT IN SPEECH DEBATE.

I GOT TO MEET A DIVERSE AMOUNT OF KIDS MY AGE, OLDER THAN ME, YOUNGER THAN ME, FROM A VARIETY OF SCHOOL DISTRICTS AND DIFFERENT SCHOOLS, WHICH ALLOWED ME TO GAIN GREATER INSIGHT ON VARIOUS TOPICS.

I'M ALSO INVOLVED IN HOSA, HEALTH OCCUPATIONS STUDENTS OF AMERICA, AND I JUST WAS ELECTED THE PRESIDENT OF THAT CLUB WHERE WE GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY VIA BLOOD DRIVES AND MENSTRUAL DRIVES.

SHE GAVE BACK TO OUR COMMUNITY IN A POSITIVE WAY.

I ALSO JUST APPLY FOR A NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY, WHICH SHOWS THAT I'M DEDICATED TO MY COMMUNITY BECAUSE I WANT TO FURTHER MY COMMUNITY HOURS AND ALSO GIVE BACK TO OUR COMMUNITY IN ANY WAY THAT I CAN.

AND I WANT TO BE A STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE BECAUSE I WANT TO GAIN THIS OPPORTUNITY TO FURTHER GIVE BACK TO MY COMMUNITY IN A POSITIVE WAY.

I BELIEVE THEY ARE A PRETTY BIG PROBLEM AT NOT ONLY MY SCHOOL BUT OTHER SCHOOLS.

AND SOMETHING THAT I MIGHT CONTRIBUTE IS I'VE SEEN IT.

I'VE BEEN IN THAT CLASSROOM.

I'VE SEEN THE AMOUNT OF CELL PHONES, THE PEOPLE DISTRACTED FROM NOT PAYING ATTENTION TO CLASS, BUT INSTEAD FOCUSING ON WHAT'S ON THEIR PHONES.

AND I'VE SEEN MY TEACHERS, THEY HAVE SEVERAL DIFFERENT WAYS OF TRYING TO GET KIDS OFF OF THEIR PHONE.

AND I THINK THE BEST WAY IS, IS REWARDS LIKE SEEING.

SO HOW I WOULD CONTRIBUTE TO THE STUDENT VOICE IS, AS I SAID, I'VE BEEN INVOLVED IN A DIVERSE ARRAY OF ACTIVITIES AT MY SCHOOL AND I BELIEVE HAVING CONNECTIONS WITH PEOPLE IN THOSE ACTIVITIES THAT I PARTICIPATE IN.

AND THERE ARE ALL KINDS OF DIFFERENT PEOPLE IN SPEECH AND DEBATE AND HOSA JUST AROUND MY SCHOOL IN GENERAL, MY FRIENDS.

I THINK HAVING ALL OF THAT EXPERIENCE WITH DIVERSE PEOPLE, I WOULD BE ABLE TO BETTER COMMUNICATE THEIR NEEDS BY GROUPING THEM TOGETHER AND RELAYING IT BACK TO ALL OF YOU DURING SCHOOL BOARD MEETINGS.

AND I KNOW THAT THAT IS REALLY DIFFICULT FOR EVENTS THAT ARE BEING HELD IN THERE JUST BECAUSE IT GETS SO HOT.

AND ALSO FOR OUR ATHLETES THAT ARE IN THERE FOR SEVERAL HOURS A DAY DOING ATHLETE THINGS, I, I MEAN, I WOULDN'T WANT TO BE SO HOT IN THE GYM.

MY MIND JUST WENT BLANK OUT OF NOWHERE AND OKAY, A BIG REASON WHY I WANT TO BE A STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE IS BECAUSE I COME FROM AN ALTERNATIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT.

AND I ACTUALLY WASN'T AWARE THAT THERE WERE STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES UNTIL LAST YEAR, WHICH WAS CRAZY FOR ME.

I REMEMBER WHEN I WAS ON THE DISTRICT WEBSITE AND I WAS LOOKING AT THE THE SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS AND I WAS LIKE, THERE ARE STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES.

AND IT WAS LIKE RIGHT AROUND THIS TIME WHEN THERE WERE LIKE ELECTIONS HAPPENING AND PEOPLE WERE APPLYING AND I WAS LIKE, OH, THERE ARE NO ALTERNATIVE SCHOOLS.

LIKE IT'S JUST BATTLE GROUND AND PRAIRIE.

AND I REMEMBER LIKE THINKING IT WOULD BE REALLY COOL IF LIKE, CAM AND SOME OF YOU AND RIVER COULD HAVE CANDIDATES.

AND THEN YOU GUYS CAME AND VISITED AND YOU GUYS WERE LIKE, WE ARE OPENING IT TO ALTERNATIVE SCHOOLS.

AND I JUST KNEW THAT WAS SOMETHING I NEEDED TO HOP ON AND EVEN JUST APPLY FOR AND LIKE ADVOCATE FOR ALTERNATIVE SCHOOLS IS SOMETHING I'M REALLY PASSIONATE ABOUT.

SO THAT'S A BIG REASON WHY.

I HAVE KIDS IN THE SCHOOL SYSTEM AND PRETTY MUCH EVERYONE ON THE BOARD HAS SOME LEVEL OF INVOLVEMENT IN THAT WAY.

AND THEN BEYOND THAT, JUST OTHER COMMUNITY INTERACTIONS WE HAVE.

YEAH, I'D SAY FROM FROM OUR POINT OF VIEW, ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE'RE REALLY LOOKING FOR IS A WAY TO ENGAGE OUR COMMUNITY.

AND I THINK THE BEST WAY, THE MOST EFFECTIVE WAY THAT WE FOUND IS IF WE CAN HAVE STUDENTS HELP US WITH THAT ENGAGEMENT BECAUSE, YOU KNOW, PEOPLE DON'T WANT TO LISTEN TO WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY. THEY'D MUCH RATHER HEAR FROM SORA AND RICARDO ABOUT THAT.

SO OUR OUR THE ROLE OF THE STUDENT REP IS VERY IMPORTANT IN GETTING, DEVELOPING, HELPING US DEVELOP THOSE COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS.

AND I WOULD SAY, TOO, WHEN THERE ARE CONCERNS BROUGHT TO THE BOARD, I THINK THE STUDENT VOICE IS A REALLY STRONG MODERATOR OF THAT IN THAT SOMETIMES THE CONCERNS THAT COME TO US FROM THE COMMUNITY DON'T REPRESENT THE STUDENT CONCERNS.

AND SO IT ALLOWS THERE TO BE A VOICE HEARD FROM OUR STUDENTS THAT DOESN'T NECESSARILY REFLECT ALL THE THINGS THAT WE RECEIVE.

AND SO IT IT PROVIDES A BALANCE THAT AS ADULTS, WE DON'T ALWAYS GET.

THAT'S A GREAT POINT. ONE OF THE THINGS WE'RE ALWAYS LOOKING AT, WE'RE ALWAYS CONCERNED ABOUT RUNNING A LEVY BECAUSE WE NEED THAT MONEY TO HELP US OPERATE THE SCHOOLS.

WE'RE LOOKING RIGHT NOW WE SPENT A LONG PART OF THIS YEAR LOOKING AT BOND, POSSIBLY REPLACING SOME SCHOOLS OR BUILDING NEW SCHOOLS OR IF YOU LOOK AROUND, YOU SEE THE ENROLLMENT, YOU SEE THE GROWTH THAT'S OCCURRING IN OUR COMMUNITY.

AND WE'RE GOING TO HAVE MORE STUDENTS AT SOME POINT.

SO WE'VE GOT TO LOOK AT THAT.

HOW ARE WE GOING TO HANDLE THAT? BUDGET IS ALWAYS A BIG THING AND WHAT OUR PRIORITIES ARE GOING TO BE, HOW ARE WE GOING TO SPEND THE MONEY THAT WE GET FROM THE STATE? I THINK WE TALK ABOUT CURRICULUM AND CLASSES AND CURRICULUM ADOPTIONS, THOSE KINDS OF THINGS.

AND THEN THERE'S THE BIG ISSUES THAT ARE IMPACTING STUDENTS, YOU KNOW, EVERY SINGLE DAY.

LIKE, YOU KNOW, YOU YOU MENTIONED SOME OF THOSE LIKE, YOU KNOW, THERE'S MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES AND THERE'S, YOU KNOW, SUICIDE PREVENTION AND THERE'S STUDENT DISCIPLINE.

SO THERE'S A LOT OF ISSUES THAT, YOU KNOW, I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT EACH YEAR WE GET TO PICK A FEW AND WE GET TO CHECK THEM OFF AND SAY, OKAY, WE'RE DONE WITH THOSE.

BUT BUT A LOT OF OUR ISSUES COME BACK YEAR AFTER YEAR AFTER YEAR BECAUSE SITUATIONS CHANGE.

STUDENTS CHANGE, LAWS CHANGE, RULES CHANGE, ALL OF THOSE KINDS OF THINGS.

SO THERE'S ALWAYS A LOT TO TALK ABOUT.
