GOOD AFTERNOON. WE WILL GET THIS MEETING STARTED FOR THIS MONDAY, JANUARY 23RD, 2023 SPECIAL WORK SESSION.

[1. Call to Order]

WE ARE GOING TO START TODAY WITH BATTLE GROUND HIGH SCHOOL.

[2. Work Session]

I JUST WANT TO REMIND THE BOARD THAT WE ALSO HAVE SOME OTHER SCHOOLS HERE, ALTHOUGH BATTLE GROUND WILL GO FIRST AND THEN RYAN WILL SHARE ABOUT CAM.

BUT IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS RELATED TO SOME OF OUR OTHER BUILDINGS, SOME OF OUR ADMINISTRATORS ARE HERE AS WELL TO HELP ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS THAT YOU HAVE ABOUT HIGH SCHOOLS AND ALES.

AND I WILL TURN IT OVER TO DAVID.

AND ALSO, TRAVIS IS HERE.

HE WORKS WITH THE ALE AND THE HIGH SCHOOLS, AS YOU KNOW.

SO HE'S HERE AS WELL TO ANSWER.

TAKE IT AWAY. THANK YOU SCHOOL BOARD FOR YOUR YOUR TIME.

THIS AFTERNOON WE ARE DOING SESSION TWO WITH OUR SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLANS.

LAST TIME WE WERE TOGETHER IN DECEMBER, WE HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO HEAR FROM OUR PRIMARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOLS.

TODAY WE'RE GOING TO HEAR FROM REPRESENTATIVES OF OUR HIGH SCHOOLS AND ALE SCHOOLS.

REMEMBER, THIS IS A PART OF THE WAY WE RECEIVE STATE FUNDING IS TO HAVE SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLANS IN PLACE FOR BUILDINGS THAT SHOWCASE BOTH ACADEMIC GROWTH AND MEASURES THAT WE ARE DOING TO SUPPORT NONACADEMIC, MORE SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL HEALTH, THOSE TYPES OF THINGS FOR STUDENTS. YOU SHOULD HAVE YOUR NOTEBOOKS IF YOU NEED THEM TO REFERENCE.

TONIGHT, WE WILL BE TALKING THROUGH BOTH BATTLEGROUND HIGH SCHOOLS, PLAN IN DEPTH AND CAM.

AND TODAY BATTLEGROUND HIGH SCHOOL HAS BROUGHT A LARGE TEAM INTIMIDATING IN APPEARANCE ESPECIALLY WHEN COMPARED TO CAM . [LAUGHTER] THAT'S WHY I'M SITTING WITH RYAN SO HE DOESN'T FEEL ALONE.

YEAH SO WE'VE GOT PRINCIPAL CHARB GOURDE ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS MATT STANFILL ON THE END THERE.

AND LET'S SEE, JULIE MAIN, ERICK SUKSDORF, MIKE MALONEY AND DEAN OF STUDENTS KIRSTEN TALBOTT.

AND THEN FOR CAM, WE HAVE PRINCIPAL RYAN COWL.

EACH SCHOOL WILL HAVE 25 MINUTES, SIMILAR TO THE LAST TIME THAT WE MET, TO DISCUSS THEIR CIP PLANS WITH YOU, FOLLOWED BY A TEN MINUTE QUESTION AND ANSWER SESSION.

OUR SCHEDULE FOR THIS EVENING WILL BE BATTLE GROUND HIGH SCHOOL WILL START OFF AND RUN APPROXIMATELY 4:10 TO 4:35.

I WILL KEEP THE TIME JUST SO THAT WE STAY ON TRACK AND WE WILL TAKE A BREAK AT 4:45 AND START WITH CAM AT 4:50 AND SHOULD END THIS EVENING BY 5:30.

SO WITHOUT FURTHER ADO, I'M GOING TO TURN IT OVER TO BATTLE GROUND HIGH SCHOOL AND PRINCIPAL CHARB GOURDE.

ALL RIGHT. WELL, THANK YOU FOR HAVING US.

HAPPY SCHOOL BOARD APPRECIATION MONTH, BY THE WAY.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU. SO YOU HAVE OUR PLAN.

I'M GOING TO TOUCH UPON SOME DIFFERENT ASPECTS OF THE PLAN, BUT THEN I'M GOING TO I'M JUST GOING TO SPEAK IN MORE.

I WANT TO HIGHLIGHT SOME OF THE THINGS THAT WE'RE REALLY PRETTY EXCITED ABOUT.

AS DAVID MENTIONED, WE HAVE A NEW TEAM THIS YEAR, EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE THE FOUR OF US HAVE BEEN HERE FOR THE LAST FEW YEARS.

WE BROUGHT ON KIRSTEN TALBOTT IN THE SUMMER AS OUR DEAN OF STUDENTS AND THEN WE WERE ABLE TO BRING ON MIKE MALONEY IN OCTOBER, SOMEWHERE IN THERE.

AND THAT CREATES, EVEN IF YOU HAVE ONE NEW TEAM MEMBER, YOU HAVE A NEW TEAM.

AND SO A LOT OF WHAT WE PRIDE OURSELVES ON WITH OUR TEAM IS THAT WE ARE PRETTY CLOSE.

WE SUPPORT EACH OTHER. WE WANT TO LEAN ON EACH OTHER WHEN WE NEED IT.

WE WANT TO CALL EACH OTHER OUT WHEN WE NEED TO.

WE WANT TO HOLD EACH OTHER ACCOUNTABLE.

I WOULD ALSO LUMP IN PRAIRIE HIGH SCHOOL WITH THAT AS WELL.

SUZANNA IS A IS ALWAYS THERE FOR ME AS A SOUNDING BOARD, AND HOPEFULLY I'M THERE FOR HER, TOO.

WE REALLY APPRECIATE THE PARTNERSHIP WE HAVE BETWEEN BATTLE GROUND AND PRAIRIE.

SO LIKE I SAID, I'M NOT GOING TO SPEND A TON OF TIME ON THE ACTUAL PLAN, BUT I DO WANT TO TALK ABOUT SOME KEY THINGS.

ONE, AND I HATE TO JUST READ, SO I'LL TRY TO BOUNCE BACK AND FORTH, BUT AT OUR K 12 MEETING THE OTHER DAY, WE WE REVISITED.

WE WERE WE CAME OUT OF THAT MEETING PRETTY ENERGIZED BECAUSE WHEN WE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY ON FEBRUARY 8TH TO HAVE OUR WAIVER DAY WITH OUR STAFFS, ONE OF THE THINGS WE WANT TO GO BACK TO AS WHAT WE ARE COMMITTED TO WITH OUR STRATEGIC PLAN OF THE BELIEF THAT EVERY PERSON BRINGS VALUE AND HAS THE CAPACITY TO DO GREAT THINGS.

AND IF EMPOWERING EACH AND EVERY STUDENT ACADEMICALLY, SOCIALLY AND EMOTIONALLY TO ENSURE SUCCESS IN LIFE.

IN FACT, RIGHT BEFORE I CAME HERE, I WAS IN A PARENT MEETING, A 504 MEETING, TALKING ABOUT A STUDENT.

AND ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE TALKED I TALKED WITH THE PARENTS ABOUT WAS THAT WHEN KIDS LEAVE US, WE WANT THEM TO HAVE AGENCY IN THEIR LIVES.

WE WANT THEM TO HAVE REQUISITE SKILLS TO SEIZE OPPORTUNITIES THAT COME TO THEM.

WE'RE TALKING ABOUT A STUDENT WHO'S A FRESHMAN AND HE'S STRUGGLING IN SOME OF HIS CLASSES AND WHAT HE THINKS HE MIGHT WANT TO DO IN THE FUTURE.

WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT HE HAS THE ABILITY TO MAKE OTHER CHOICES IF HE WANTS TO.

IF HE WANTS TO GO TO THE UNIVERSITY ROUTE OR IF HE WANTS TO GO TO THE WORKFORCE.

EITHER WAY, HE NEEDS TO HAVE REQUISITE SKILLS TO BE SUCCESSFUL.

[00:05:03]

WE'RE ATTEMPTING TO ACHIEVE COHERENCE ACADEMICALLY THROUGH OUR PLC WORK, AS WELL AS ATTEMPTING TO TAP INTO OUR DEPARTMENT LEADERS AS THOUGHT PARTNERS.

WE HAVE A PRETTY STRONG GROUP THIS YEAR.

I'VE BEEN VERY PLEASED WITH THEM AS FAR AS THEIR WILLINGNESS TO TAKE IN NEW IDEAS, CHALLENGE US WITH THEIR IDEAS AND HAVE REALLY PRODUCTIVE CONVERSATIONS.

AND WE KNOW THAT EACH PIECE OF ALL OF THE DIFFERENT THINGS THAT WE TALK ABOUT THAT HAPPEN IN A COMPREHENSIVE HIGH SCHOOL ARE ALL PART OF THE SAME WHOLE.

A FEW NOTEWORTHY PEOPLE I WANT TO MAKE SURE TO ACKNOWLEDGE IN OUR BUILDING, ONE IS OUR COUNSELING TEAM, AND THIS YEAR WE HAVE A NEW COUNSELING DEPARTMENT.

WE HAVE THREE NEW MEMBERS, THREE MEMBERS WHO HAVE BEEN HERE IN THE PAST, WHICH MEANS THEY HAVE A NEW TEAM.

IT'S A NEW DYNAMIC.

THE THREE PEOPLE WE BROUGHT ON BOARD ARE FANTASTIC.

OUR OTHER COUNSELORS ARE STEPPING UP THEIR GAME QUITE A BIT.

AND IT'S IT'S IT'S AN INTERESTING, DYNAMIC DYNAMIC WHEN YOU BRING IN NEW PEOPLE WHO AREN'T WHO HAVE JUST A DIFFERENT WAY OF THINKING.

THEY HAVE DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE AND THEY'VE BEEN DOING A REALLY, REALLY, REALLY GOOD JOB, OUR GRAD COACHES, AT ALL FOUR GRADE LEVELS.

I CANNOT SPEAK HIGHLY ENOUGH.

THEY ARE FANTASTIC FOR OUR KIDS.

THE WORK THEY DO FOR OUR KIDS IS WORK THAT WE WANT TO DO BUT WE CAN'T ALWAYS GET TO.

THEY'RE ABLE TO FORGE BONDS WITH THE STUDENTS AND HELP THEM VERY SPECIFICALLY THROUGH ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS OR EVEN ACADEMIC SKILLS.

BUT JUST THE CONNECTION WITH THEM IS A SAFE PERSON FOR THEM TO HAVE IN THE BUILDING.

I ALSO WANT TO MAKE SURE TO MAKE NOTE OF CHRIS NEILL AND KEVIN DOYLE IN OUR CAREER CENTER AND WORKPLACE LEARNING.

THEY ARE SO GOOD.

IT'S REALLY INCREDIBLE.

IN FACT, WE HAVE A VIRTUAL DUAL CREDIT NIGHT TOMORROW, OUR INDUSTRY FAIR FEBRUARY 16TH, AND THEN THEY DO OTHER OPPORTUNITY FAIRS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.

AND THEN ALSO OUR SROS.

I KNOW HOW FORTUNATE WE ARE IN BATTLE GROUND TO EVEN HAVE AN SRO AND WE HAVE TWO AND THEY ARE STELLAR HUMANS.

THEY ARE SO GOOD WITH KIDS.

IT'S IT'S AS IF THEY'RE EDUCATORS IN SPIRIT.

THEY JUST THEIR PHILOSOPHY OF APPROACHING POLICING AND WORKING WITH KIDS IS JUST THEY'RE SUCH A GREAT ADDITION THAT I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERYBODY KNOWS WE REALLY APPRECIATE THEM.

NOW FROM OUR SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLAN, STARTING WITH OUR GOAL OUR SEL GOAL, IS THAT WE WANT TO SCORE 60% ON THE TIERED FIDELITY INVENTORY.

WE KNOW THAT'S PROBABLY NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

WE HAVE RELAUNCHED OUR PBIS TIER ONE TEAM THIS YEAR.

WE HAVE SOME MOMENTUM GOING.

WE'RE PRETTY EXCITED ABOUT THAT.

THERE WAS A TIER TWO TEAM MEETING TODAY.

OUR ATTENDANCE GOAL OF 95% IS VERY LOFTY AND OUR DISCIPLINE GOAL IS PRETTY LOFTY.

WE WANT NO MORE THAN 3% OF OUR STUDENTS TO HAVE RECEIVED ANY SORT OF EXCLUSION FROM THE SCHOOL DAY.

RIGHT NOW WE'RE AT 4%.

SO WHETHER THAT'S ACHIEVABLE OR NOT, I DON'T KNOW.

BUT THAT'S OUR GOAL.

NO MATTER WHAT 4% IS STILL AN IMPROVEMENT FROM WHERE WE WERE LAST YEAR AT THIS TIME, BUT WE'RE ONLY HALFWAY THROUGH THE YEAR.

OUR READING GOAL IN ELA, I BELIEVE, IS ATTAINABLE.

IT'S LOFTY. WE SET IT AT 85% OF OUR SOPHOMORES PASSING THE SBA.

I DON'T KNOW THAT WE'LL REACH 85%, BUT I'M I AM BETTING WE'RE GOING TO BE CLOSE OUR OUR ENGLISH TWO TEAM.

I BELIEVE ACTUALLY HEATHER SMITH LANE CAME AND SHARED SOME OF THEIR STORY WITH YOU ALL A MONTH OR TWO AGO.

THEY'RE DOING REALLY WHAT REALLY GOOD WORK.

THEY ARE WORKING THROUGH THE APPEALS PROCESS AS BEST THEY CAN AND THEY TAKE IT SUPER SERIOUSLY AND THEY'RE WORKING TOGETHER, WHICH IS CREATING MORE COHERENCE JUST WITHIN THAT DEPARTMENT, ESPECIALLY WITH THAT GRADE LEVEL.

IN MATH, BATTLE GROUND HIGH SCHOOL IS CONSISTENTLY PERFORMED ON PAR OR BETTER THAN THE STATE AVERAGE, THOUGH IT'S STILL LOW AND IT'S NOT WHERE WE WANT TO BE.

TO THAT END, WE AND WE OFFERED A MATH BOOT CAMP TO FRESHMEN IN AUGUST.

PART OF THAT BOOT CAMP WAS JUST AROUND STUDY SKILLS.

PART OF THAT WAS SPECIFICALLY AROUND MATH.

IN FACT, OUR THE TEACHER WHO FACILITATED THAT MADE A VIDEO AT THE END THAT WAS SORT OF A TESTIMONIAL TO FROM THE KIDS WHO ATTENDED THAT.

AND IT SEEMED TO BE VERY WELL RECEIVED BY OUR KIDS.

AND THEN WE'RE ALSO GOING TO BE STARTING CORE RECOVERY HERE NEXT WEEK WHERE WE HAVE TWO TEACHERS, A MATH AND AN ENGLISH TEACHER WHO WILL BE WORKING WITH STUDENTS WHO HAVE BEEN STRUGGLING IN ENGLISH OR MATH TO HELP BRING THEIR GRADES UP FROM WHERE THEY ARE NOW.

WE HAVE A LOT OF TEACHERS WHO, AS WE GO INTO FINALS, ARE EITHER WORKING WITH CONTRACTS WITH KIDS TO RECOVER THEIR CREDIT OR UNIT RECOVERY, OR WHETHER THEY NEED TO GET INTO CREDIT RECOVERY OR JUST RETAKE THE COURSE.

BUT THEY WILL WORK WITH THOSE KIDS TO HELP THEM FORMING OUT THEIR PLANS AND GET THEM TO FINISH THEIR UNITS THAT THEY NEED TO FINISH UP SOME THINGS SO THAT THEY CAN BOOST THEIR GRADES UP. AND THEN I MENTIONED OUR GRADUATION COACHES.

THEY USE TIGER TIME DATA AND OUR RTI DATA, WHICH IS A SPREADSHEET WE HAVE OF STUDENTS WHO ARE IN DANGER OF FAILING OR ARE FAILING BUT ARE IN DANGER OF NOT GRADUATING.

WHAT I WANT TO HIGHLIGHT SPECIFICALLY, BECAUSE I JUST TALKED ABOUT HER WITH THE PARENTS IN OUR LAST MEETING THAT I WAS AT RIGHT BEFORE.

THIS IS MS. MCKENDRY AT THE NINTH GRADE LEVEL.

SHE IS JUST FANTASTIC BUILDING STRONG RELATIONSHIPS AND THAT TRANSLATES INTO INCREASED LEARNING AND ENGAGEMENT WITH OUR STUDENTS.

[00:10:06]

ALSO IN HER SPACE, BECAUSE THE OFFICE AREA THAT WE HAVE, KRISTA MCHENRY, IS OUR NINTH GRADE GRAD COACH.

WE ALSO HAVE OUR SOPHOMORE GRADE COACH THERE, JULIANNE LAMPARD.

AND THEN THEY ALSO WORK WITH OUR MATH SSIA, KARINA STATSKY.

I THINK I PRONOUNCED THAT RIGHT.

AND IT'S JUST THE AMOUNT OF TRAFFIC THEY GET THERE IS REMARKABLE.

AND IT'S BECAUSE KIDS AND IT'S NOT WASTED TIME.

KIDS GO THERE AND THEY ARE ON POINT.

SO FAR AS OF FRIDAY, THEY HAD HAD 18 1,806 STUDENTS COME THROUGH BECAUSE THEY TRY TO TRACK THE DIFFERENT INTERVENTION OF KIDS THAT THEY'RE WORKING WITH.

SO THEY'VE THEY HAVE MADE CONTACT WITH A LOT OF STUDENTS.

AND THEN ABOUT OUR GRADUATION RATE, OUR FOUR YEAR GRADUATION RATE GOAL IS TO ME ALWAYS 100%.

IT'S NOT NECESSARILY A SMART GOAL BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW THAT THAT'S REALLY ATTAINABLE.

IN FACT, JUST LAST WEEK, I WAS MEETING WITH SOME PARENTS AND A STUDENT OF A OF A SENIOR WHO WE HAD TO CONFRONT THE BRUTAL REALITY THAT HE'S NOT GOING TO GRADUATE ON TIME.

BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN WE QUIT ON THEM.

OUR OUR EXTENDED GRADUATION RATE IS ONE OF THE THINGS THAT I, I TRY NOT TO BE TOO PRIDEFUL, BUT I TAKE PRIDE IN THAT BECAUSE WE DON'T QUIT ON OUR KIDS.

AND SO WE'RE STARTING THAT PROCESS FOR THIS STUDENT NOW WHERE WE KNOW HE'S NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO FINISH.

BUT WHAT IS THE PLAN GOING TO BE SO THAT HE CAN HAVE SOMETHING THAT IS DOABLE AND BROKEN INTO CHUNKS SO THAT HE CAN HE KNOWS HE HAS A FINISH LINE THAT IS ATTAINABLE BECAUSE SOMETIMES KIDS GET TO A POINT WHERE THEY JUST FEEL OVERWHELMED, WHERE THEY JUST FEEL LIKE THEY CAN'T DIG OUT OF IT, AND THEN THEY SHUT DOWN.

SO WE TRY TO USE ALL OF THESE DIFFERENT RESOURCES TO CONNECT WITH THEM.

SOME OTHER THINGS ACADEMICALLY, OUR PLC WORK IS WHAT DRIVES OUR GROWTH IN INSTRUCTIONAL PRACTICE.

WE HAVE SEEN GROWTH IN OUR PLC WORK, PARTIALLY SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE OF THE DIRECTION OF THE DISTRICT AND BY THE DISTRICT I MEAN CENTRAL OFFICE.

I FEEL LIKE WHEN WE STARTED THIS SCHOOL YEAR WE GOT VERY CLEAR DIRECTION, WHICH WAS GREAT FROM TRAVIS, FROM LUKE, FROM DAVID, FROM MIKE, AND THAT HAS BEEN VERY HELPFUL BECAUSE WE HAVE VERY SPECIFIC LIKE THESE ARE THE MINIMUM EXPECTATIONS.

AND SO WHAT WE HAVE STARTED TO SEE IS A SHIFT FROM MEETING AND COLLABORATION, MEETING, COLLABORATION TIME TO ACTUAL PLC WORK, LOOKING AT COMMON ASSESSMENT DATA AND THEN DETERMINING NEXT STEPS BASED ON WHAT THAT DATA TELLS US.

OUR WAIVER DAYS HAVE BEEN VERY VALUABLE.

I'M REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THE EIGHTH BECAUSE IT GIVES US A CHANCE TO REFRAME AND ALSO LAY OUT VERY CLEAR EXPECTATIONS AND THEN LET THE TEACHERS DO THE WORK AND BE AS PRESENT AS THEY NEED US TO BE.

OUR WEDNESDAY MEETINGS HAVE CHANGED FROM LARGER DEPARTMENTAL MEETINGS LIKE WE ONE DEPARTMENT I USED TO WORK WITH.

THEY WOULD WANT TO MEET AS A TEAM FIRST AND THEN THEY WOULD BREAK OFF INTO THEIR GROUPS.

AND THAT WAS LARGELY NOT PLC WORK.

THEY HAVE TAKEN ON THE STANCE THAT THEY KNOW WHAT PLC WORK IS.

NOW IT IS MEETING WITH THAT GRADE LEVEL THAT WE ARE FOCUSING ON COMMON STANDARDS, COMMON ASSESSMENTS, AND AND REALLY TRYING TO LEARN FROM EACH OTHER.

OUR LEADS HAVE WORKED WITH US ON ACCOUNTABILITY BECAUSE ONE OF THE THINGS THAT I PERSONALLY STRUGGLE WITH IS GIVING TEACHERS HOMEWORK.

BUT THERE HAS TO BE A LEVEL OF ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THE WORK THAT THEY'RE EXPECTED TO DO.

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE ENDED UP CREATING, WE CREATED IT, BUT OUR DEPARTMENT LEADS WERE OKAY WITH IT.

IT WAS A WE CALL IT OUR PUBLIC RECORDS DOCUMENT, WHICH IS JUST ONE SPREADSHEET THAT WE ASK OUR TEACHERS.

EACH PLC TO INCLUDE ALL OF THE DIFFERENT SEVEN STEPS OF THE PLC PROCESS AND TO REALLY LINK THEIR WORK SO THAT ANY OTHER TEAM IN OUR BUILDING CAN LOOK AT.

SO IF I'M CURIOUS WHAT ENGLISH TWO IS DOING, I CAN ACTUALLY CLICK ON THEIR WORK AND SEE WHAT THEY'RE DOING.

WE CALL IT PUBLIC BECAUSE IT'S FOR WE'RE MAKING THE WORK PUBLIC WITHIN OUR BUILDING, BUT WE HAD TO GIVE THEM THAT SAFETY OF THIS FOR US.

THIS IS NOT FOR THE PUBLIC, WE'RE NOT PUTTING IT IN THE COLOMBIAN OR IN THE REFLECT OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT.

BUT WE'RE STARTING TO SEE MORE ALIGNMENT IN INSTRUCTIONAL PRACTICE ASSESSMENT PRACTICES, AND THAT IS BENEFICIAL FOR OUR KIDS.

WE'RE ALSO WORKING ON AND THIS IS A LONGER SLOG, BUT WE ARE TRYING TO KNOCK DOWN THE SILOS, KNOCK DOWN THE WALLS BETWEEN OUR CLASSROOMS. AND THIS COMES FROM MY EXPERIENCE AS A CLASSROOM TEACHER.

I WANTED TO BE A GOOD TEACHER.

I TOOK THAT JOB VERY SERIOUSLY.

I WORKED VERY HARD AT IT. I TAUGHT ENGLISH MOST RECENTLY IN THE EVERGREEN DISTRICT FOREVER AGO NOW.

BUT I HAD STRONG PEERS AND WE HAD PLC WORK THAT WE DID.

BUT I NEVER I WANTED TO BE A GOOD ENGLISH TEACHER AND I WANTED TO BE A GOOD.

I ALSO COACH TWO SPORTS, SO TO DO THAT I HAD TO MAXIMIZE MY TIME DURING THE DAY AND I DID NOT TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE INTELLIGENT PEOPLE AROUND ME AS ENOUGH.

SO WHEN I BECAME AN ADMINISTRATOR, THE IRONY IS I HAVE GOTTEN TO SEE MANY MORE CLASSROOMS AND I'VE GOTTEN TO SEE AMAZING TEACHERS.

I'VE GOTTEN TO SEE TEACHERS WHO ARE STRUGGLING.

[00:15:02]

AND I REALIZED INSTANTLY IN THE FIRST YEAR THAT I WAS AN ADMINISTRATOR, THAT MAN, IF I REALLY WOULD HAVE COLLABORATED BETTER AND GONE TO WATCH MY FELLOW TEACHERS MORE, I WOULD HAVE BEEN A BETTER TEACHER.

I STILL THINK I WAS PRETTY GOOD, BUT I WASN'T AS GOOD AS I COULD BE.

SO PART OF THAT IS WE ARE TRYING TO MAKE IT MORE SAFE FOR PEOPLE TO COME INTO THE CLASSROOM.

SO ON ONE, ONE PIECE OF THAT IS FOR US AS A TEAM.

WE STARTED DOING WE STARTED LAST YEAR, BUT WE REALLY TRIED TO DO IT MORE EARNESTLY THIS YEAR, WHAT WE CALL INSTRUCTIONAL ROUNDS, WHICH IS WHERE WE AS A TEAM GO INTO CLASSROOMS. WE'VE DECIDED BASED ON TEACHER FEEDBACK, WE'VE SPLIT INTO TWO GROUPS.

WHEN WE GO AND WE EACH WE PICK THREE OR FOUR CLASSROOMS WE WANT.

OUR GOAL IS TO BE IN EVERY CLASSROOM AT LEAST ONCE, AND WE GO IN THERE FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES AND IT IS NOT EVALUATIVE IN ANY WAY, AND IT IS FOR OUR OWN GROWTH ONLY.

AND WE ARE TRYING.

AND NO MATTER WHAT, WHEN WE WALK INTO THE ROOM, WE KNOW IT CHANGES THE DYNAMIC AND WE'RE TRYING TO KNOCK THAT DOWN OVER TIME.

SO THEN WE COME BACK, WE CALIBRATE WHAT WE SAW.

IT HELPS US PROVIDE BETTER FEEDBACK TO OUR TEACHERS AND IT ALSO HELPS US DEVELOP A PROBLEM PRACTICE THAT WE CAN FOCUS ON FOR OUR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR NEXT YEAR.

AND THEN ANOTHER PIECE OF THAT IS WHAT ARE THEIR TECHNICALLY INSTRUCTIONAL ROUNDS? BUT WE CALL THEM LEARNING BLOCKS BECAUSE WE WANT TO DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN WHEN WE CAME IN AND WHEN WE HAD OTHER TEACHERS COME IN.

AND IN FACT, JUST LAST WEEK WE WERE FINALLY ABLE TO DO ONE OF THESE AND IT WAS PRETTY EXCITING.

SO WHAT WE DID IS WE, WE I FOUND A TEACHER WHO WAS BRAVE ENOUGH TO LET OTHER TEACHERS COME WATCH HIM.

WE MET FIRST PERIOD AS A TEAM.

THERE WERE SIX TEACHER OBSERVERS AND US TALKING TO THE HOST TEACHER WHO TOLD US THE STANDARDS HE WAS WORKING TOWARD.

HE TOLD US HIS LEARNING OBJECTIVES FOR THE DAY.

HE TALKED ABOUT THE LEARNING EXPERIENCE HE WAS TRYING TO FACILITATE THAT DAY, WHICH WAS NOT DIRECT INSTRUCTION, KIDS WERE WORKING.

BUT EVEN IN THE PROCESS OF THAT PRE BRIEF BEFORE WE WENT TO OBSERVE, TEACHERS STARTED TELLING US HOW VALUABLE IT WAS TO HEAR FROM ANOTHER TEACHER TO GET ANOTHER PERSPECTIVE. AND THEN WE DID AN OBSERVATION A SECOND PERIOD AND THEN THIRD PERIOD CAME BACK TO MY OFFICE AND DEBRIEFED AND INITIAL FEEDBACK FROM THOSE TEACHERS WAS VERY STRONG.

AND THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WE, I FIRMLY BELIEVE IN.

WE HAVE EXPERTS IN OUR BUILDING.

WE NEED TO ACCESS OUR EXPERTS.

WE NEED TEACHERS TO KNOW THAT THEY CAN BE FREE TO GO OBSERVE OTHER TEACHERS IF THEY WANT TO.

WE CAN HELP OURSELVES IF WE NEED TO PROVIDE SOME COVERAGE.

AND SO WE'LL DO THAT ONE MORE TIME THIS YEAR AND THEN NEXT YEAR.

I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE THIS SOMETHING THAT WE DO ON A VERY REGULAR BASIS, AT LEAST FOUR OR FIVE TIMES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.

TIMING IS ALWAYS DIFFICULT BECAUSE THERE'S NEVER A GOOD TIME TO PULL PEOPLE OUT OF THEIR CLASSROOMS, BUT IT'S A COALITION OF THE WILLING AND LEARNING WALKS HAVE TO BE TOTALLY VOLUNTARY.

THEY HAVE TO BE SAFE.

THE ONLY FEEDBACK THAT TEACHERS PROVIDE IS WHAT THE HOST TEACHER ASKS FOR, AND HE DOES THAT AND THEY DO THAT IN A POSITIVE WAY.

EVERYTHING IS POSITIVE, AND BECAUSE IT'S MORE ABOUT INTROSPECTION THAN IT IS ABOUT THE OBSERVATION.

SO WE'RE PRETTY EXCITED ABOUT THAT.

AND THEN FINALLY, WE ARE WITH OUR LEADS AS OUR THINK TANK.

WE ARE GOING THROUGH A TEXT, WE'RE READING GRADING FOR EQUITY WITH THEM JUST TO START HAVING CONVERSATIONS AROUND ASSESSMENT AND WHAT OUR GRADES MEAN.

WE ARE NOT TRYING TO SHOVE ANYTHING DOWN THEIR THROATS.

WE ARE TRYING TO MAKE THIS REALLY MORE OF A COLLEGIAL CONVERSATION.

AND WE'VE HAD SOME REALLY GOOD CONVERSATIONS AND SOME TEACHERS HAVE SORT OF MOVED THE NEEDLE A LITTLE BIT IN THEIR APPROACH AND THEIR THINKING AROUND ASSESSMENT, BECAUSE ULTIMATELY, ONE OF THE FIRST QUESTIONS I ASKED WHEN I GOT TO BATTLE GROUND WAS YOUR GRADES REFLECT COMPLIANCE OR DO OUR GRADES REFLECT LEARNING? THE REALITY IS IT'S ALWAYS GOING TO BE A COMBINATION OF BOTH.

BUT WE ALL WE WERE TRYING TO DO IS START THAT CONVERSATION WITH OUR WITH OUR BUILDING LEADS.

AND THEY'VE BEEN RECEPTIVE TO IT.

AND WE'VE HAD GOOD CONVERSATIONS, HEALTHY CONVERSATION, NOT JUST GROUPTHINK, BUT SOME WE'VE HAD SOME GOOD BACK AND FORTH DEBATE.

AND IT'S BEEN I THINK IT'S BEEN FOR ME, IT'S BEEN A GREAT LEARNING EXPERIENCE.

[INAUDIBLE] AROUND OUR SOCIAL EMOTIONAL WORK, OUR SOCIAL EMOTION OR SEL ROOM OR WE CALL THE DEN IS NOW FULLY STAFFED.

WE'RE VERY EXCITED ABOUT THAT.

WE ARE ABLE TO START ACTUALLY HAVING RESTORATIVE CONVERSATIONS WITH STUDENTS WHO END UP IN THE SEL ROOM.

OUR NUMBERS ARE PRETTY HIGH, BUT WE WE GET A LOT OF TRAFFIC THROUGH THERE.

AND ONE OF THE THINGS WE'VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT IS WHAT KIND OF TRAINING WE CAN PROVIDE FOR OUR SEL ROOM TEACHERS, FOR LACK OF A BETTER WORD, SO THEY KNOW HOW TO WORK WITH KIDS WHO ARE DYSREGULATED WHEN THEY COME IN.

THEY KNOW HOW TO HELP THEM REFLECT ON BEHAVIORS AND TRY TO COME TO UNDERSTANDING WITH THE TEACHER SO THAT WE CAN REPAIR ANY HARM THAT HAS BEEN DONE.

IN NOVEMBER, WE DID TWO SEPARATE CLIMATE SURVEYS, ONE WITH STUDENTS AND ONE WITH STAFF, AND WE JUST MADE THEM UP OURSELVES BECAUSE WE WANTED TO GET INPUT.

PARTIALLY BECAUSE I WANTED TO COLLECT.

WE WANTED TO COLLECT PRE AND POST DATA.

SO WE DID A STAFF SURVEY THAT WAS PRETTY VERY WELL, HAD A LOT OF PARTICIPATION AND WE GOT A LOT OF PARTICIPATION ON OUR STUDENT SURVEY AS WELL.

AND WHAT THAT TOLD US WAS A FEW DIFFERENT THINGS.

[00:20:02]

THE TWO MAIN AREAS WITH STAFF FOR GROWTH WERE MAINLY IN OUR COMMUNICATION TO THEM AND IN SAFETY.

SO TO THAT END, I IMMEDIATELY SAID, OKAY, WHAT I'VE BEEN TRYING TO DO IS COMMUNICATE VIA EMAIL.

WELL, THAT WHAT TEACHERS ARE FEELING IS THEY'RE GETTING A BUNCH OF DIFFERENT EMAILS ALL AT THE SAME TIME, VARIOUS EMAILS FROM VARIOUS PEOPLE, AND IT'S HARD TO TRACK.

SO NOW WHAT WE'RE TRYING TO DO IS FUNNEL ALL OF OUR INFORMATION THROUGH ONE NEWSLETTER THAT WE ARE SENDING OUT EVERY FRIDAY.

IT SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN PRETTY WELL RECEIVED.

I PUT A LITTLE LAST FRIDAY, I PUT A SECRET WORD IN THERE TO SEE IF PEOPLE WERE ACTUALLY READING IT TOWARD THE END, AND I GOT A LOT OF RESPONSES.

SO IT'S GOOD TO KNOW PEOPLE ARE READING IT.

76% OF OUR STUDENTS, HOWEVER, REPORTED HAVING ONE TRUSTED ADULT IN THE BUILDING.

AND OUR GOAL IS 100%.

WE WANT EVERY SINGLE STUDENT AT OUR SCHOOL TO KNOW THEY HAVE ONE ADULT THEY CAN ALWAYS GO TO.

REGARDLESS OF CLASSIFIED CERTIFICATED, IT DOESN'T MATTER.

AND ADDITIONALLY, WE DISCOVERED THERE'S ROOM FOR GROWTH IN OUR STUDENTS PERCEPTIONS OF HOW WELL THEIR TEACHERS KNOW THEM, HOW OUR SCHOOL EMBRACES AND RESPECTS DIVERSITY AND THEIR OVERALL SENSE OF BELONGING.

AND WE TALK ABOUT THE THE HEALTHY YOUTH SURVEY WAS ONE OF THE FIRST THINGS WE WERE USING WHEN WE WERE TRYING TO PUT TOGETHER OUR DATA AT THE BEGINNING WHEN WE FIRST STARTED WORKING ON OUR PLAN. AND THEN OUR SURVEYS ALSO HELPED US DETERMINE A PATH FORWARD WITH OUR PBIS WORK.

OUR TIER TWO TEAM IS ALREADY DOING GOOD WORK, SPECIFICALLY WITH CHECK IN, CHECK OUT IN A MEETING TODAY, OUR TIER ONE TEAM HAS REBOOTED.

WE ACTUALLY HAVE A GOOD CROSS SECTION OF STAFF CLASSIFIED AND CERTIFICATED.

WE CAN ALWAYS USE MORE.

BUT THOSE PEOPLE HAVE BEEN CONSISTENT AND THEY COME AND WE'VE STARTED MEETING EVERY COUPLE OF WEEKS NOW INSTEAD OF ONCE A MONTH.

AND IT'S AND THAT'S A HEAVY BURDEN FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT BEING PAID AS THEY'RE VOLUNTEERING THEIR TIME.

THEY STAY PAST CONTRACTED HOURS TO WORK WITH US, AND WE REALLY APPRECIATE THEIR PARTICIPATION.

AND THEN WE'LL DO THOSE CLIMATE SURVEYS AGAIN IN THE SPRING.

EXPECT TO SEE GROWTH.

BUT FROM THE ASPECT OF SAFETY, FROM THE SURVEYS, ONE OF THE THINGS TEACHERS WERE VERY CONCERNED ABOUT WAS OUR CLASSROOM DOORS, BECAUSE ALL OF OUR CLASSROOM DOORS LOCK FROM THE OUTSIDE. AND AS WE KEEP HAVING INCIDENTS OF VIOLENCE ACROSS THE COUNTRY, THAT COMES TO EVERYBODY'S MIND THAT THE FOREFRONT IS OUR SAFETY, WHICH, BY THE WAY, WE'VE WORKED WITH JOLMA AND THE MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT, THEY'RE WORKING ON THAT.

THEY HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY HELPFUL.

BUT ONE OF THE THINGS THAT CAME TO LIGHT WAS TEACHERS WANT TO HAVE THEIR DOORS SHUT DURING THE DAY AND LOCKED, WHICH WAS IT WAS NOT INTUITIVE FOR ME.

IN CONSULTATION WITH PRAIRIE, WHICH IS ANOTHER REASON WHY WE ENJOY HAVING THEIR COLLABORATION.

WE WENT TO A SYSTEM JUST THREE WEEKS AGO WHERE WHEN THE TARDY BELL RINGS, THE DOOR SHUTS.

IF IF THE STUDENT IS LOCKED OUT OR TARDY, THEY HAVE TO GO TO A TARDY KIOSK TO GET A PASS.

AND THE IRONY IS, EVEN THOUGH THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL DISCIPLINE ATTACHED TO THAT, KIDS ARE HUSTLING THE CLASS AND THE HALLWAYS DURING THE CLASS PERIODS ARE MUCH QUIETER.

IT'S REALLY INTERESTING BECAUSE IT'S MORE TO ME, IT'S MORE OF LIKE AN ANTHROPOLOGY EXPERIMENT OR SOMETHING LIKE, BECAUSE THERE'S NO EXTRA OTHER THAN THE INCONVENIENCE OF HAVING TO GO GET THIS SLIP.

BUT IT REALLY SEEMS TO BE WORKING FOR THIS AT THIS POINT.

AND MAYBE WE GO AWAY FROM THAT AT SOME POINT.

BUT FOR ME, IT IS MORE ABOUT SAFETY THAN IT IS ABOUT TARDINESS.

BUT A BYPRODUCT WILL BE AN IMPROVEMENT IN OUR TARDINESS.

WE ANTICIPATE THOSE REFERRALS FOR TARDIES TO RISE AT THE BEGINNING BECAUSE AS WE WERE PAYING MORE CLOSE ATTENTION TO IT, WE KNOW THAT WE WILL WE WILL THOSE NUMBERS WILL GO UP.

BUT WE WOULD ANTICIPATE THEM TO EBB AS KIDS GET USED TO THE PROCESS.

AND IT REVEALS THE KIDS WHO ARE THE CHRONIC TARDINESS.

I WAS RIGHT. A FEW THINGS JUST OVERALL CULTURALLY THAT I WANT TO MAKE SURE TO ADDRESS.

AND THEN AND I BROUGHT AN ARMY OF PEOPLE TO HELP ME ANSWER QUESTIONS AFTERWARD.

WE HAVE A NEW ASB ADVISOR THIS YEAR, MASON TREZISE, WHO IS OUR ATHLETIC TRAINER, AND HE CAME ON LATE.

AND SO THERE WERE SOME THINGS THAT WE HAD TO IT WAS A FAST ONBOARDING FOR HIM TO LEARN ABOUT WHAT THAT ROLE MEANT.

BUT HE'S BEEN DOING A GREAT JOB.

HE'S HAD A REAL FOCUS ON SPORTSMANSHIP.

THERE'S A CAPTAINS COUNCIL THAT MATT WORKS WITH IMPROVING AND IMPROVING CULTURE OVERALL.

AND ONE OF THE THINGS THAT OUR ASB KIDS SAID TO US OUT OF THE GATE WAS THEY WANTED TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET BACK MORE THAN THEY GET.

IN FACT, ONE OF THE THINGS I DON'T KNOW IF ANY OF YOU EVER ATTENDED OUR BASKETBALL GAMES, BUT LAST YEAR ACROSS THE STATE, BEHAVIOR FROM PARENTS AND STUDENTS AT BASKETBALL GAMES JUST THAT'S JUST ONE I MEAN, IT WAS ALSO FOOTBALL AND SOCCER AND WHAT WAS PRETTY ATROCIOUS, THERE WAS A LEVEL OF ANGER ACROSS THE COUNTRY THAT JUST DOESN'T SEEM TO EXIST THIS YEAR.

SO WE'VE BEEN EXTREMELY PROUD, ESPECIALLY OF OUR KIDS.

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE'VE ALWAYS APPRECIATED ABOUT OUR STUDENT SECTION, EVEN IN A BIG RIVALRY GAME, IS WHEN WE GO AND GIVE THEM OUR EXPECTATIONS, THEY DO THEIR BEST TO LIVE UP TO IT AND IF THEY GET OUT OF LINE AND WE GO TALK TO THEM, THEY CORRECT IT.

AND IN FACT, WE HAD A GAME AT EVERGREEN HIGH SCHOOL TWO WEEKS AGO, AND THEIR ATHLETIC DIRECTOR REACHED OUT TO MATT AND ME SEPARATELY AND JUST WANTED TO LET US KNOW HOW IMPRESSED HE WAS WITH OUR STUDENT SECTION.

AND THEY WERE RESPECTFUL AND THEY WERE CHEERING CORRECTLY AND AND SOMETIMES IT SLIPS A LITTLE BIT.

[00:25:03]

BUT SPORTSMANSHIP IS SOMETHING THAT WE REALLY FOCUS ON AT OUR SCHOOL.

WE ARE ADDING A MULTICULTURAL CLUB TO ENSURE THAT WE ARE HONORING ALL GROUPS SO THAT WE WANT EVERYONE TO FEEL LIKE THEY BELONG AT OUR SCHOOL, REGARDLESS OF ANY BACKGROUND.

EVERY THIS IS YOUR THIS IS YOUR SCHOOL.

SO WHAT I ALWAYS TELL KIDS OUR ATHLETIC PARTICIPATION NUMBERS ARE UP, WHICH IS VERY EXCITING.

OUR FACILITY UPDATES HAVE BEEN AND WILL BE VERY HELPFUL.

WE ARE REALLY APPRECIATIVE OF ALL OF THE DIFFERENT THINGS THAT ARE COMING OUR WAY.

IN FACT, WE'RE MEETING NEXT WEEK WITH KEVIN JOLMA AND HIS TEAM ABOUT OUR SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS THAT WE'RE GOING TO DO.

ADDING THE FENCE WAS A REALLY BIG DEAL LAST YEAR.

AND AS THEY CHANGE OUT THE LOCKS, THAT'S REALLY GOING TO BE HELPFUL AS WELL.

AND PART OF OUR JOB IS TO TEMPER EXPECTATIONS.

THINGS CAN'T HAPPEN OVERNIGHT, BUT THEY'RE HAPPENING.

AND WE'RE WE'RE DEEPLY APPRECIATIVE OF THAT.

SAME WITH IN FACT, ONE OF THE THINGS THAT FROM AN OUTSIDER PERSPECTIVE, WHEN I WAS COMING TO BATTLE GROUND WAS I HEARD ABOUT OUR WEIGHT ROOM BEFORE I EVEN GOT TO THE SCHOOL.

THERE'S A COMMITMENT FROM THE DISTRICT THAT TO TO HELP US IMPROVE OUR FACILITIES IN THE SAME PRAIRIE.

AND THAT IS IT REALLY ALMOST IMMEASURABLE.

JUST FROM MY VANTAGE POINT.

IT CREATES A SENSE OF CONFIDENCE, A SENSE OF PRIDE IN OUR SCHOOL.

AND THAT'S WE'RE REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THAT.

ALSO, OUR ROTC PROGRAM IS ANOTHER THING I MUST MAKE SURE TO TO POINT OUT.

THEY DID. THEY HOSTED A REGIONAL TOURNAMENT THIS WEEKEND AND I WENT I WAS ABLE TO GO AND HAND OUT AWARDS AND WHAT AN AMAZING GROUP I WAS.

AND AGAIN, COMING IN FIVE YEARS AGO FROM THE OUTSIDE, WE DIDN'T I HAD NEVER EXPERIENCED ROTC.

I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT OF IT.

BUT WHAT THEY GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY IS IS REALLY AMAZING.

AND ONE OF THE BEST EXAMPLE I HAVE IS HALLOWEEN.

THEY GO HELP ON MAIN STREET WITH AS CROSSING GUARDS.

I MEAN, THAT'S JUST ONE EXAMPLE.

THEY DO ALL KINDS OF DIFFERENT COMMUNITY COMMUNITY EVENTS.

AND THEN WE'RE TRYING AS WE TRY TO PARTNER WITH THE COMMUNITY, WE'RE TRYING TO GET IDEAS.

I WENT I WAS ABLE TO GO HAVE A CUP OF COFFEE WITH CHIEF FAULK FROM THE POLICE DEPARTMENT LAST WEEK, AND HE AND I TALKED ABOUT DIFFERENT IDEAS WE HAD ABOUT THINGS LIKE ONE OF OUR OFFICERS, OFFICER KINLAW, IS HAS CREATED A CLUB, I BELIEVE, AT DAYBREAK WITH FRISBEE GOLF, AND IT'S REALLY WELL RECEIVED.

CHIEF FORD HAD AN IDEA OF COULD WE HOST A SPECIAL OLYMPICS REGIONAL TOURNAMENT OF SOME KIND, WHICH I TALKED TO OUR FACILITATOR ABOUT.

AND SHE WAS SHE THOUGHT IT WAS A GREAT IDEA.

WE ALSO ARE HOSTING STATE THIS YEAR AGAIN, AND THAT IS THAT BRINGS A LOT OF MONEY TO THE COMMUNITY.

WE WILL HAVE OVER 4500 ATTENDEES WHO ARE ALSO ABLE TO HOST REGIONAL WRESTLING, REGIONAL BASKETBALL.

AND THAT INFLUX OF MONEY INTO THE INTO THE COMMUNITY IS REALLY IMPORTANT.

I MEAN, WE HAVE AN ESTIMATE OF BETWEEN 100 AND 300,000 THAT COMES INTO THE COMMUNITY WITH EVENTS LIKE THAT.

OVERALL, WE'RE NOT PERFECT, BUT WE TRY TO GET BETTER AT WHAT WE'RE NOT PERFECT AT.

WE'RE VERY FORTUNATE.

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT I ALWAYS COME BACK TO IS THAT OUR KIDS ARE GOOD KIDS.

EVEN THE KIDS WHO MAKE MISTAKES THERE, THEY'RE STILL GOOD KIDS AND THEY'RE STILL TRYING TO JUST FIGURE OUT LIFE.

I FEEL VERY FORTUNATE TO HAVE A STRONG TEAM AROUND ME AND LUCKILY I HAVE LOTS OF PEOPLE WHO HELP KEEP ME ON THE RIGHT PATH.

SO. THAT'S ALL I HAD.

SO WE ACTUALLY WILL HAVE ABOUT 15 MINUTES FOR QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS.

SO A LITTLE BIT OF AN EXTENDED PERIOD FOR Q&A.

SO ANY QUESTIONS THAT THE BOARD MIGHT HAVE OR COMMENTS FEEL FREE TO SHARE OVER THE NEXT 15 MINUTES.

CHARB I APPRECIATE YOUR YOUR REPORT.

I HAD A QUESTION ON THE TRUSTED ADULT AND HOW THAT'S ACHIEVED.

YOU SAID IT WAS ABOUT 75%.

HOW IS THAT DETERMINED? AND WHAT HOW YOU MAKE THAT GET TO 100%? YEAH, ACTUALLY, WHAT I MADE OUR SPRING GOAL.

90%. 90%.

OKAY. AND THE QUESTION IS, WAS LITERALLY, DO YOU HAVE AT LEAST ONE TRUSTED ADULT IN THE BUILDING THAT YOU CONNECT WITH? AND OUT OF 471 RESPONSES, 76% SAID YES, BUT THAT MEANT 113 RESPONDENTS.

RIGHT. DON'T FEEL LIKE THEY HAVE A TRUSTED ADULT.

AS FAR AS SPECIFICALLY HOW WE GO ABOUT THAT.

I DON'T KNOW THAT WE HAVE A SYSTEMIC WAY NECESSARILY, OTHER THAN WE ARE ALWAYS TRYING TO FIND SO PART OF OUR FOCUS WITH THAT NEW TEAM, THAT COUNSELING TEAM THAT MR. GOURDE TALKED ABOUT, ONE OF THEIR GOALS FOR THE YEARS TO GET THEMSELVES OUT IN FRONT OF OUR STUDENTS AND REMIND THEM WHO THEY ARE, WHERE THEY ARE AND HOW THEY CAN SUPPORT. SO THEY HAVE DONE AN AMAZING JOB OF JUST BEING PRESENT.

AND WHAT WE'VE SEEN WITH THAT IN THEIR LEADERSHIP ARE OTHER PEOPLE JUMPING ON BOARDS, WHETHER IT'S PIS OR JUST STAFF MEMBER ACROSS THE ENTIRE SCHOOL, ARE PUTTING THEMSELVES IN

[00:30:06]

FRONT OF STUDENTS AND INTRODUCING THEMSELVES AND JUST GETTING TO KNOW THEM.

THEY'RE LITERALLY JUST ASKING THEM, WHAT IS YOUR NAME? WHAT ARE YOU INTO? WE'VE ADDED A CLUB WALL THAT WALKS DOWN INTO OUR LAYER.

WE'VE DONE A REALLY GOOD JOB WITH TIGER TIME TRYING TO PROMOTE OUR CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES.

AND I THINK OUR OUR LIST FOR CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES THAT ARE RAN BY STAFF WERE IN THE 30 TO 40 RANGE OF DIFFERENT OPPORTUNITIES STUDENTS CAN GO TO JUST TO FIND THEIR PEOPLE.

AND THEN THROUGH OUR PBIS TEAMS, FOR EXAMPLE, OUR TIER TWO TEAM, WE'RE REALLY FOCUSING ON THE STUDENTS WHO HAVE JUST BEEN FLAGGED THROUGH ATTENDANCE, DISCIPLINE OR BEHAVIORS THAT JUST NEED MORE OF A ONE ON ONE CONNECTION.

MCINTIRE THROUGH THE DISTRICT OFFICE HAS HAS BEEN AMAZING.

WELL, QUITE HONESTLY, THE ENTIRE DISTRICT OFFICE TEAM, ONE THING THAT I APPRECIATE IS THEY DON'T JUST TALK ABOUT THINGS.

THEY DO THINGS WE GET.

WE GET VISITORS IN OUR BUILDING A LOT.

THEY'RE PART OF US.

THEY'RE IN THE THICK.

THEIR INNER GROUPS, THEY OFFER SUGGESTIONS, THEY ASK US QUESTIONS, AND IT'S MADE THE DIFFERENCE.

SO THAT'S HOW WE'RE WE'RE REALLY TRYING TO GET ACTIVITIES UP AS WELL.

THANK YOU. YEAH.

I'LL GO NEXT. SO YOU ANSWERED A COUPLE OF MY QUESTIONS AND EVEN FILLED IN SOME BLANKS THERE WITH THE PARTICIPATION AND SCHOOL ACTIVITIES BEING UP AND THE 30 AND 40 RANGE OF OPPORTUNITIES IS HELPFUL TO GET THAT IDEA.

SO YOU GET THE BREADTH OF THAT.

SO THAT'S CERTAINLY A MEASURE I THINK I LOOK AT IS, YOU KNOW, HOW OUR KIDS BEING PART OF THE CULTURE OF THE SCHOOL, WHAT OF ALL THE DATA POINTS THAT YOU KIND OF TRY TO COLLECT, WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE MOST VALUABLE MOVING FORWARD IN TERMS OF KNOWING THAT YOU'RE KIND OF GOING IN THE DIRECTION THAT YOU WANT TO GO? WELL, THIS IS I'M KIND OF CHEATING BECAUSE THIS.

YOU HAVE ONE PEER.

OR EXCUSE ME, DO YOU HAVE ONE? TRUST ADULT. THAT IS MY BABY.

BUT IT IS ONE OF THE THINGS I'M VERY FIXATED ON.

I WANT ALL OF OUR KIDS TO REPORT.

SO LIKE, WHEN WE DO OUR SOCIAL EMOTIONAL, NOT THE TIERED FIDELITY INVENTORY, BUT WHEN WE HAD THE QUESTION TOWARD THE END OF THE YEAR, THAT IS BECOMES PART OF THE DATA WE GET.

THAT IS THE QUESTION THAT I'M MORE MOST CONCERNED ABOUT.

SO WE'RE GOING TO DO THIS AGAIN AND WE'RE GOING TO POINT TO SOME SPECIFIC THINGS THAT WE'RE TRYING TO DO TO SEE IF THAT NUMBER GOES UP.

AND THEN WHAT WAS THE OTHER ONE? ENGAGEMENT IS ONE OF THE THINGS.

YEAH. OVERALL SENSE OF BELONGING, BECAUSE SOME OF THESE WERE OUR QUESTIONS, HOW UNFAIR THE RULES FAIR OR UNFAIR OR THE RULES AT SCHOOL.

HOW SAFE DO YOU FEEL AT SCHOOL IS ONE OF THE ONES THAT WAS VERY IMPORTANT.

I FEEL LIKE THE STUDENT SURVEY THAT WE'RE GOING TO DO AGAIN IS WHAT I WANT.

WE'LL DO THE STAFF ONE, TOO, BECAUSE I EXPECT TO SEE GROWTH IN THE AREAS OF COMMUNICATION AND SAFETY.

BUT WITH THE STUDENT SURVEY, THOSE ARE THAT'S I'M PUTTING A LOT ON THAT BECAUSE IT'S INTENTIONALLY MAKING US I MEAN, I'M GOING TO MEET WITH ANOTHER GROUP OF STUDENTS NEXT WEEK JUST TO GET THEIR FEEDBACK.

[INAUDIBLE] I'M SORRY.

THE ONLY THING I WOULD ADD IS THE WORK THAT MATT IS DOING WITH OUR CAPTAIN.

COUNSEL, I THINK IS HAVING A HUGE IMPACT.

AND IT KIND OF INTERWEAVES WITH OUR ASB AND OUR UTC CLASSES, JUST GETTING THAT PRIDE BACK WITH OUR STUDENTS AND OUR ASB TEAM AND UTC STUDENTS.

I MEAN, I COULD GO ON FOR HOURS ABOUT WHAT THEY MEAN TO OUR SCHOOL AND WHAT THEY'VE DONE.

THAT PEER TO PEER IS IMMEASURABLE.

IT'S IT'S INSPIRING TO WATCH.

BUT PART OF THE OTHER DATA POINTS THAT WE DO IS ON OUR TIGER TIME DOCUMENT.

WE WATCH OUR CLUBS AND WE SEE WHICH STUDENTS ARE SIGNING UP FOR THE DIFFERENT CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES.

AND WE'RE ALSO TRYING TO MR. MALONEY PUTS OUT A QUESTIONNAIRE LIKE WHAT OTHER THINGS ARE YOU INTERESTED IN? SO KIDS SUGGEST THINGS.

SO ONE EXAMPLE I WOULD GIVE YOU IS THAT A KID SAY, MAN, I REALLY WISH YOU HAD A FISHING CLUB.

AND ONE OF OUR TEACHERS WAS LIKE, THAT'S ME.

THEY HAVE 20 KIDS MEETING FOR FISHING NOW.

SO AS WE GO ALONG THROUGH THE CAPTAIN, COUNSEL, THROUGH THE TIGER TIME OR CLUB DOCUMENT, THOSE ARE OUR QUICK CHECKS AS WE GET TO THESE BIGGER SURVEYS AT THE END.

YEAH, THANKS AND THANKS FOR TACKLING GRADING FOR EQUITY.

THAT'S NO EASY TASK, BUT I APPRECIATE THE WORK ON IT.

YEAH, YEAH, SURE.

YOU SAID YOU HAD 417 RESPONSES IN YOUR SURVEY, 471.

471. THANK YOU.

IS THAT ROUGHLY 30-35% OF THE ENROLLMENT? YEAH, PRETTY CLOSE. I MEAN, SOMEWHERE AROUND 1,800.

OKAY. I WAS GOING TO SAY.

OKAY. YEAH. AND OF THAT 200 WERE NINTH GRADE 127, 10TH GRADE, 72, 11TH AND 7,612.

OKAY. WHAT CAN WE DO TO GET THOSE NUMBERS UP FOR ENGAGEMENT ON THESE SURVEYS? DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS? WELL, HOW DO WE PUT IT OUT THIS TIME? WE I THINK WE WE PUT IT OUT IN OUR SUNDAY NEWSLETTER.

[00:35:05]

WE ASKED TEACHERS TO DO IT.

I THINK ONE OF THE THINGS WE CAN DO IS JUST WHEN WE HAVE KIDS CAPTURED DURING TIGER TIME, IF WE IF WE HAVE A DAY WHERE ALL KIDS ARE IN FOR TIGER TIME, WE CAN JUST HAVE THEM DO IT.

AND I MEAN, I WAS I WAS SURPRISED TO GET 471, TO BE HONEST.

YEAH. AND WITH STAFF WE HAD.

WE HAD 103 RESPONSES OF STAFF.

SO THAT WAS THAT WAS A PRETTY GOOD REPRESENTATION.

IS IT PRESENTLY OFFERED OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL TIME? OH, YEAH. IT'S JUST IT'S JUST A GOOGLE.

GOOGLE. OKAY. YEAH.

SO. OKAY. BECAUSE THEY I WOULD DEFINITELY LIKE TO SEE THOSE NUMBERS CLIMB SO WE CAN GET MORE ACCURATE RESULTS.

ANOTHER QUESTION, YOU MENTIONED THE DISCIPLINE GOALS.

YOU'RE TRYING TO GET DOWN TO 3% CURRENTLY SITTING AT FOUR.

FRANKLY, I'M SURPRISED TO SEE EVEN THAT LOW.

I WOULD THINK AT A HIGH SCHOOL YOU'D PROBABLY BE A LOT HIGHER.

I WONDER OR MAYBE WONDER IS THE WRONG WORD.

BUT WHAT GOES THROUGH MY HEAD IS THAT IF WE'RE TRYING TO STRIVE FOR A GOAL, ARE WE BEING MORE RELAXED ON DISCIPLINARY PROCESS IN SOME CASES IN ORDER TO TRY TO ACHIEVE THAT? NOT CONSCIOUSLY, BUT SUBCONSCIOUSLY, MAYBE BEING LESS LESS AGGRESSIVE AND [INAUDIBLE].

YOU UNDERSTAND I'M TRYING TO SAY HERE, TRYING TO ARTICULATE THIS CORRECTLY SO IT DOESN'T COME ACROSS WRONG.

BUT I JUST CONCERNED THAT MAYBE WE'RE NOT RESPONDING APPROPRIATELY IN SOME CASES BECAUSE WE'RE TRYING TO MEET A GOAL.

WELL, NO, ACTUALLY, ONE OF THE THINGS WE TALKED ABOUT JUST LAST WEEK WAS IT'S THE PENDULUM SWINGS BOTH WAYS.

AND WE SUSPEND STUDENTS, I BELIEVE, AT AN ALARMING RATE, NOT BECAUSE IT'S NOT WARRANTED, BUT WE ARE ALWAYS GOING TO DO WHAT IS THE RIGHT THING, THE RIGHT CONSEQUENCE FOR A BEHAVIOR.

IT HAS NEVER EVEN ENTERED A CONVERSATION THAT WE WOULD DO ANYTHING LIKE THAT.

WELL, IN FACT, ONE OF THE THINGS WE WANT TO LOOK AT IS OUR NUMBER OF STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS IEP STUDENTS WHO ARE RECEIVING DISCIPLINARY CONSEQUENCES.

THE SAME WITH OUR STUDENTS OF COLOR, SAME WITH OUR STUDENTS IN POVERTY.

WE WANT TO LOOK AT THOSE DEMOGRAPHICS.

AND WHEN WE WHEN WE SAY 4%, WE'RE TALKING ABOUT THE PERCENTAGE OF STUDENTS INVOLVED.

AND THAT NUMBER IS USUALLY FAIRLY SMALL.

AND IN MOST, I'VE WORKED IN FOUR DIFFERENT HIGH SCHOOLS.

AND YOUR PERCENTAGE OF KIDS WHO ARE THE ONES WHO ARE KIND OF CHRONICALLY MAKING BAD CHOICES IS A SMALL GROUP OF KIDS.

REALLY. IT FEELS LARGE BECAUSE IT SOMETIMES FEELS LIKE IT'S A NONSTOP.

YEAH, YOU'RE ON A HAMSTER WHEEL, BUT OKAY, I APPRECIATE THAT RESPONSE.

MY LAST IS JUST A COMMENT ON A QUESTION.

I JUST PICKED UP ON AN OVERARCHING THEME IN YOUR LEADERSHIP BETWEEN HOW YOU ADDRESS THINGS WITH STUDENTS AND HOW YOU ADDRESS THINGS WITH TEACHERS.

AND I APPRECIATED IS THAT YOU MENTIONED ACHIEVABLE GOALS AND FOR EXTENDED GRADUATION AND HOW YOU ARE MAKING AN EFFORT TO NOT ALLOW THAT TO BE OVERWHELMING TO THE STUDENTS AND YOU'RE TAKING SMALLER CHUNKS OF THE APPLES, SO TO SPEAK.

AND THEN YOU LATER COMMENTED ON HOW YOU'RE ADDRESSING THE PLC WITH TEACHERS AND NOT GIVING THEM HOMEWORK AND AGAIN, TAKING SMALLER CHUNKS OF THE APPLE.

SO I JUST WANTED TO COMMENT THAT I DO APPRECIATE THAT APPROACH TO LEADERSHIP AND NOT OVERWHELMING BECAUSE AS AN ADULT IT HAPPENS TO US QUITE FREQUENTLY WHERE WE ALL GET VERY OVERWHELMED AND IT BECOMES SO UNOBTAINABLE THAT WE END UP JUST QUITTING OR PUTTING IT OFF TO THE SIDE AND MOVING ON.

AND SOMETHING AS SIGNIFICANT AS GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL OR TAKING ON THIS IMMEASURABLE THING OF THE PLC.

IT CAN PUSH PEOPLE OVER THE EDGE.

SO AGAIN, I JUST I APPRECIATE THAT APPROACH.

I GUESS I'M NEXT. A COUPLE OF THINGS I JUST WANTED TO COMPLIMENT YOU ON.

ONE IS I HAD ACTUALLY MADE THIS NOTE EARLIER WHEN I WAS READING YOUR CIP PLAN INSTRUCTIONAL ROUNDS, AND I'M GLAD TO HEAR THAT IT'S GOING WELL.

AND I THINK THAT'S A FABULOUS IDEA.

AND I KNOW THAT'LL BRING A LOT OF GROWTH TO YOUR TEAM AND THE FACT THAT YOU'RE USING THE TEXT.

AND I ALSO HAD A QUESTION WHICH YOU ANSWERED ABOUT THE LEARNING WALKS, WHETHER THEY HAD STARTED AND HOW THEY WERE GOING.

IT SOUNDS LIKE THEY'RE GOING WELL.

AND LIKE MARK, I WANT TO COMPLIMENT YOU ON DIGGING INTO GRADING FOR EQUITY, BECAUSE THAT'S NOT AN EASY TASK AT ALL.

SO IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR TEAM IS BACK AND AND THINGS ARE GOING REALLY WELL AS A TEAM.

SO THANK YOU FOR THAT.

I APPRECIATE THAT.

I APPRECIATE THAT. AND YOU MENTIONED THERE WAS AN ACRONYM THAT I WASN'T FAMILIAR WITH, MATH SSIA.

OH, THIS IS OKAY.

[00:40:06]

I KNOW WHAT IT IS, BUT I'M BLANKING RIGHT NOW.

BUT I PROMISE IT'S JUST EXPLAIN IT TO ME.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO TELL ME EXACTLY WHAT IT MEANS.

IT'S A POSITION THAT WE WERE ABLE TO HIRE TO HELP WITH SPECIFICALLY INTERVENTIONS IN MATH.

SO WE WERE LUCKY ENOUGH TO FIND CORINNE, WHO CAME FROM A PROGRAM WHERE THE BUILT INTERVENTION FOR STUDENTS FOR READING, WRITING AND MATH, AND SHE SPECIFICALLY GOES IN AND OUT AND PULLS GROUPS OUT TO WORK ON FOUNDATIONAL SKILLS FOR ALGEBRA AND GEOMETRY.

OKAY, MAKES SENSE.

YEAH. YEAH. SO AND THEN YOU SAID YOU HAD MATH BOOTCAMP THIS YEAR.

WAS THAT IN THE SUMMER OR IN THE DURING THE CHRISTMAS BREAK OR.

JULIE.

SO THIS SUMMER, MR. SCHUSTER. FOR MYSELF, MR. SCHUSTER TOOK THE MATH PORTION AND I DID MORE OF A SO THEY WERE BUILDING FOUNDATIONAL SKILLS TO HELP NINTH GRADERS BECOME SUCCESSFUL WHEN THEY CAME TO SCHOOL.

WHAT WE DID ON THE OTHER TEAM, THE BOOTCAMP TEAM, WAS WE BROUGHT NINTH GRADERS IN, GAVE THEM THEIR SCHEDULES, WALKED AROUND THE SCHOOL, SET THEM UP AS FAR AS BINDERS AND PLANNERS, AND TAUGHT THEM SKYWARD.

AND THEY GOT TO WALK THEIR SCHEDULE.

THEY GOT TO TALK ABOUT HOW OVERWHELMING IT MIGHT BE WHEN THEY COME AS NINTH GRADERS TO SCHOOL FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME.

AND ALL OF A SUDDEN 1800 KIDS ARE MOVING AT ONCE.

AND SO A TEAM OF TEACHERS AND MYSELF AND MS. MCHENRY, WHO IS AWESOME, GOT TOGETHER AND DESIGNED A PROGRAM TO RUN THESE THESE KIDS THROUGH.

SO WE HAVE A RECORD OF THEM.

WE SURVEYED THEM AT THE END OF THE BOOT CAMP, AND WE'RE GOING TO GO BACK AND SURVEY THE SAME KIDS AGAIN TO SEE IF THEY FELT THAT THIS BOOT CAMP, THAT THESE THESE SOFT SKILLS THAT THEY LEARNED ARE GOING TO HELP THEM, THAT THEY DID HELP THEM IN THE NINTH GRADE.

SO IT WAS PRETTY EXCITING.

THEY GOT TO EAT LUNCH AND MEET FRIENDS, GET T SHIRTS AND BAGS AND ALL SORTS OF STUFF SO THEY COULD REPRESENT BATTLE GROUND HIGH SCHOOL WHEN THEY FIRST GOT TO SCHOOL.

SO YOU OBVIOUSLY IDENTIFIED AS EIGHTH GRADERS THAT STUDENTS THAT MIGHT NEED A LITTLE EXTRA HELP TO BE SUCCESSFUL.

YES, WE DID. AND WE IN ADDITION, ALLOWED ANYONE ELSE THAT WANTED TO COME TO THE CAMP, TO COME TO THE CAMP.

SO WE REACHED ABOUT 258TH GRADERS BEFORE SCHOOL STARTED.

AWESOME. SO NOW I DO HAVE A THE TOUGH QUESTION.

SO I'M A PARENT AND I, I WANT TO COME TO BATTLE GROUND AND I'M TRYING TO DECIDE WHERE MY STUDENTS SHOULD GO.

AND I'M LOOKING AT YOUR DATA.

AND YOUR DATA TELLS ME THAT 68.6% OF YOUR NINTH GRADERS ARE ON TRACK TO GRADUATE, BUT ONLY 32% ARE PROFICIENT IN MATH. AND I'M LIKE, THIS DOESN'T MAKE SENSE.

EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT'S HAPPENING.

THAT IS A FANTASTIC QUESTION.

I FEEL WE ARE AT A POINT WHERE WE ARE WE WANT TO MOVE PAST COVID.

WE DON'T USE THAT AS AN EXCUSE, RIGHT? WE ARE KEEPING OUR STANDARDS AND OUR EXPECTATIONS HIGH.

I WOULD SAY MATH IS AN OBVIOUS AREA THAT GOT HIT.

AND ONE THING THAT I AM PROUD OF FOR OUR MATH TEAM IS THE WORK THAT THEY'RE DOING THROUGH THEIR PLCS AND THE TEACHER CLARITY PLAYBOOK AND THEN THE SUPPORT WE'RE GETTING FOR THINGS LIKE GOING TO STANFORD AND LEARNING NEW STRATEGIES, BRINGING IN CHRIS L, WHO IS A PD PERSON FOR THE STATE OF WASHINGTON, AND OUR TEACHERS ARE JUST WILLING TO PUT THEMSELVES OUT THERE AND LOOK AT THEIR OWN PRACTICES.

SO WE HAVE SPENT A LOT OF TIME, REALLY SELF REFLECTION AND WORKING TOGETHER AS A TEAM TO MAKE SURE WHAT WE ARE DOING IS THE RIGHT THING AND THE RIGHT FOCUS FOR THE STUDENTS.

EVERYTHING FROM THE ESSENTIAL STANDARD FOCUS THAT WE'RE DOING WITH THE DISTRICT OFFICE.

WE'RE COMING UP ON A MATH CURRICULUM, ADOPTION.

WE'RE TALKING ABOUT PUTTING TOGETHER A MATH TEAM.

I KNOW THAT DAVE CRESAP HAS BEEN INSTRUMENTAL WITH WORKING WITH OUR MIDDLE SCHOOLS TO HELP US PREP THEM FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL PIECE.

SO IF YOU WERE THAT PARENT WHO CAME IN, I WOULD TALK ABOUT ALL THE AMAZING FOCUSES THAT WE ARE PUTTING ON FOR OUR STUDENTS AND THE CHANGES THAT WE ARE MAKING TO HELP BOOST THAT NUMBER AND TALK ABOUT A LOT OF OUR SUCCESSES THAT WE'RE SEEING THIS YEAR EVEN IN OUR FIRST SEMESTER.

WELL, AND I KNOW YOU'RE DOING HARD WORK AND, YOU KNOW, THE QUESTION IS, IS REALLY JUST BECAUSE IT DOES, IT'S KIND OF GLARING OUT THERE.

BUT I THINK PROBABLY IF YOU LOOKED AROUND THE STATE, YOU'D SEE THE SAME TREND EVERYWHERE.

YEAH. AND THAT'S HARD TO DO TO REFLECT ON YOUR OWN WORK AND PRACTICES AND SHARE IT WITH YOUR PARTNER, PARTNER, TEACHER, YOU KNOW, AND, AND WHAT THEY'VE DONE THIS YEAR AS FAR AS ANYTHING FROM ASSESSMENTS TO TO THEIR ACTUAL WORK AND MAKING SURE THAT THEY'RE TRULY ON THOSE ESSENTIAL STANDARDS AND THAT THE TESTS REFLECT THAT AND THAT WE GO BACK TO SHARP'S

[00:45:06]

MANTRA OF WHAT ARE WE ACTUALLY GRADING OR GRADING LEARNING, OR IS IT COMPLIANCE ACROSS THE BOARD, WHETHER YEAR ONE OR YEAR 40.

THERE'S BEEN A LOT OF GROWTH AND IT'S BEEN REALLY FUN TO BE A PART OF.

I ACKNOWLEDGE THAT MATH IS THE TYPICAL AREA.

TOTALLY. YEAH.

YOU WERE GOING TO SAY SOMETHING TO ME, TRAVIS.

YEAH, JUST I TOOK A LOOK AROUND THE STATE AT OTHER MATH SCORES, AND I THINK ONE OF THE BIGGEST CHALLENGES THAT IT'S OKAY FOR US TO SAY IS THAT KIDS CAN GRADUATE HIGH SCHOOL WITHOUT PASSING THAT TEST.

AND SO WE'RE GIVING AN OPTIONAL TEST TO A GROUP OF STUDENTS.

AND AND I'M NOT SAYING THAT IT WOULD MEAN THAT WE WOULD SCORE IN THE HIGH NINETIES, BUT THE REALITY IS IT'S AN OPTIONAL TEST THAT STUDENTS KNOW THEY CAN STILL GRADUATE EVEN IF THEY DON'T PASS. TRUE LOOKING AT THE SCORES FROM OTHER HIGH SCHOOLS AROUND THE STATE.

AND I HAVE THEM IN FRONT OF ME.

I DON'T HAVE THESE MEMORIZED.

THE HIGHEST ONE I COULD FIND WAS MEADE HIGH SCHOOL AT 47% PASSAGE RATE.

MANY OF THE OTHER SCORES.

SO. HANFORD THEY DO A LOT OF GREAT THINGS IN HANFORD.

THEY'RE SITTING AT 40%.

MOUNTAIN VIEW HIGH SCHOOL IS AT 27%.

[INAUDIBLE] WHICH ALSO DOES GREAT THINGS THAT ARE THERE AT 35%.

SO NONE OF IT IS MEANT TO BE AN EXCUSE.

AND I KNOW YOU'RE NOT IMPLYING.

NO, OBVIOUSLY EVERYONE IS FOCUSING ON IT, BUT I'LL JUST KEEP COMING BACK TO GIVE ADULTS AN OPTIONAL TEST AND THEN ASK IF THAT TEST REFLECTS WHAT THEY KNOW. THERE'S A GREAT CHANCE IT MIGHT NOT BECAUSE OF THAT OPTIONAL PIECE.

I'D HAVE THAT HANDY WHEN THE PARENT COMES TO YOU.

YEAH, THOSE OTHER COMPARISONS.

SO THIS HAS BEEN A GREAT DISCUSSION.

I DO WANT TO BE MINDFUL OF OUR TIME.

SO WE'RE AT 4:47.

WE'LL TAKE A FIVE MINUTE BREAK AND RECONVENE AT 4:52 SO THAT WE CAN HEAR FROM CAM.

AND I JUST WANT TO THANK BATTLE GROUND HIGH SCHOOL FOR ALL OF YOUR EFFORTS AND YOUR PRESENTATION THIS EVENING.

THANK YOU [APPLAUSE]. OKAY.

WELL, WE ARE REALLY FORTUNATE TO HAVE RYAN COWL WITH US FROM CAM ACADEMY.

RYAN IS GOING TO SPEND THE NEXT FEW MINUTES SHARING WITH YOU SOME HIGHLIGHTS FROM HIS SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLAN.

WE WILL LEAVE SOME TIME AT THE END FOR QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS.

AND RIGHT NOW, WE'RE A LITTLE BEHIND SCHEDULE.

SO RYAN MAY END UP GOING CLOSER TO 5:20 IF NEED BE.

SO IF YOU NEED THE TIME, RYAN, TAKE IT AND THEN WE'LL DO Q&A AND FINISH UP AT 5:30.

SO, RYAN COWL. THANK YOU AND GOOD EVENING BOARD.

IT'S NICE TO BE HERE TODAY.

AND FIRST OF ALL, I WANTED TO THANK, AS BATTLE GROUND HAD MENTIONED TOO YOU ABOUT THANKING THE SCHOOL BOARD FOR ALL THE WORK THAT YOU GUYS HAVE DONE.

I KNOW OUR WE WERE TALKING WITH OUR STUDENT BODY A LITTLE BIT ABOUT HOW CAN WE THANK OUR SCHOOL BOARD AND AND THEY PUT TOGETHER THAT SCHOOL SIGN THAT'S BEHIND YOU.

THERE ARE BASICALLY OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL ASB AND WORKING ALONG WITH THE HIGH SCHOOL ASB AND OUR NHS WENT AROUND AND THEY STAYED AFTER SCHOOL TO WORK ON THESE THINGS.

AND THEN THEY ALSO WENT THROUGH ALL THE CLASSROOMS AND GOT A LOT OF STUDENT SIGNATURES AND STAFF SIGNATURES AS WELL.

AND I KNOW FOR MYSELF, I'M VERY APPRECIATIVE FOR ALL THE WORK THAT THE SCHOOL BOARD HAS DONE FOR CAM ACADEMY AND JUST THE DEDICATION AND COMMITMENT.

WE KNOW IT'S AMAZING AND APPRECIATED VERY MUCH.

I WANT TO TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT JUST THE TRANSITION THAT WE'VE HAD FROM LAST YEAR TO OUR CURRENT MOVE HERE RIGHT ON THIS SCHOOL CAMPUS WE'VE HAD PREVIOUSLY.

WE'RE IN A LEASE BUILDING FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS AND THERE WAS A LOT OF MAYBE CONCERN FROM YEAR TO YEAR.

AND HOW IS IT GOING TO GO FOR CAM? ARE WE GOING TO LEASE THE BUILDING AND WE'RE GOING TO BUY THE BUILDING? AND IT WAS ALL THESE THERE WAS A LOT OF WORRY AMONG STAFF AND STUDENTS AND FAMILIES.

AND I THINK THE ENCOURAGING THING, THOUGH, AS WE MOVE FORWARD AND MADE THIS TRANSITION OVER TO THE LEWISVILLE CAMPUS, THERE WAS A STRONG BELIEF IN THE PROGRAM AND THE SCHOOL THAT THAT THERE IS VALUE IN THE PROGRAM AND THAT THAT OUR OUR FAMILIES, OUR PARENTS, OUR STUDENTS AND OUR TEACHERS HAVE WORKED REALLY HARD TO HELP PREPARE KIDS FOR COLLEGE AND CAREERS AND PREPARE THEM BY PROVIDING WITH CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT AS WELL AS SUPPORT.

AND THEY'RE JUST THERE EVERY DAY, WALK IN SCHOOL AND AROUND THE CAMPUS.

SO THIS TRANSITION, ONCE WE WENT THROUGH LAST YEAR AND I KNOW A LOT OF AGAIN, CREDIT GOES BACK TO OUR SCHOOL BOARD AND TO DENNY AND SHELLY AND KEVIN JOLMA AND JOSH OWNER AND ALL THE FOLKS THAT HAVE BEEN PUTTING ALL THIS TOGETHER.

ONCE WE HAD THIS IDEA THAT WE WERE GOING TO MOVE TO LEWISVILLE AND THEN WE'RE GOING TO HAVE A NEW CAMPUS, RIGHT, RIGHT, RIGHT IN OUR BACK RIGHT HERE NEXT DOOR TO US,

[00:50:02]

MADE US VERY EXCITED ABOUT ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY AND JUST I THINK, TOOK A LOT OF RELIEF.

I THINK A LOT OF RELIEF FROM EVERYBODY THAT THEY COULD JUST GO AND DO THEIR JOB AND NOT WORRY ABOUT WHAT WHAT WILL NEXT YEAR BRING FOR ALL OF US.

AND SO AND WE'VE HAD MANY FAMILIES COME BACK AND SHOW THEIR APPRECIATION TO THANK THE SCHOOL BOARD AND THANK JUST WHAT HAS BEEN DONE TO PRESERVE AND KEEP THE SCHOOL GOING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.

SO I JUST WANT TO AGAIN REITERATE APPRECIATION FOR THE SCHOOL BOARD AND EVERYTHING.

AND ALSO THE TRANSITION TO THE LEWISVILLE CAMPUS THIS YEAR HAS GONE VERY WELL.

SOMETIMES WHEN YOU CHANGE FROM ONE PLACE TO ANOTHER, YOU KIND OF HAVE TO START OVER OR GO FROM THE BEGINNING.

BUT I THINK OUR TEACHERS, A LOT OF THEM HAVE COME BACK AND SAID, HEY, YOU KNOW, THESE CLASSROOMS ARE ACTUALLY A LOT BIGGER THAN THE ONES THAT WE HAD IN THEIR PREVIOUS BUILDING.

AND, YOU KNOW, WE ACTUALLY HAVE PLACES TO PUT THINGS BEFORE WE COULDN'T, YOU KNOW, STORE A LOT OF THESE THINGS AROUND.

AND SO A LOT OF THE TEACHERS HAVE JUST THEY REALLY JUST LIKE I FEEL LIKE IT'S I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A LOT HARDER TO MAKE THIS TRANSITION, BUT IT FEELS LIKE IT'S BEEN IT'S REALLY BEEN A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE.

AND OUR TEACHERS HAVE BEEN THANKFUL AND THEY'VE KIND OF MOVED FORWARD AND SAID, YOU KNOW, OUR JOB IS TO EDUCATE KIDS AND MAKE SURE THAT WE PROVIDE THEM THE BEST EDUCATION POSSIBLE.

AND MY JOB IS TO TRY TO PROVIDE THEM WITH SUPPORT SO THEY CAN DO THEIR JOB AND AND BE AVAILABLE TO THEM AND BE A SUPPORTER OF OF THE WORK THAT GOES ON AT SCHOOL.

AND SO I JUST I MEAN, JUST THINKING THAT WE HAVE WE HAVE A LOT MORE NOW, I FEEL LIKE, THAN WE HAD BEFORE.

AND IT'S REALLY AWESOME TO SEE THAT.

AND THE STUDENTS THAT ARE ON THE CAMPUS, THE MOST IMPORTANT, THEY HAVE SHOWN APPRECIATION AND FEEL LIKE IT'S BEEN A NICE OPPORTUNITY.

WE'VE TRIED TO DO SOME COOL THINGS TO MAKE IT THEIR CAMPUS, YOU KNOW, INCLUDING A SENIOR ROCK AND A MURAL THAT THEY'RE WORKING ON, PAINTING THAT THEY'RE GOING TO PUT UP IN THE IN THE GYM AREA.

AND, YOU KNOW, AND THEN JUST THIS OTHER LITTLE THINGS THAT THAT I'LL TRY TO MOVE FORWARD WITH.

I'M JUST GOING TO KIND OF SHARE A LITTLE BIT ABOUT.

SO OUR SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLAN, I'M JUST GOING TO KIND OF GIVE YOU AN OVERVIEW.

I KNOW THERE'LL BE SOME HARD DATA THAT I'LL SHARE WITH YOU, AND THEN THEY'LL BE A LITTLE MORE SOFT DATA, THINGS THAT WE'VE KIND OF BEEN WORKING ON DURING THE YEAR, AND EVERYTHING'S ALWAYS GOING TO BE A WORK IN PROGRESS.

YOU KNOW, WE CAN WE'RE NOT GOING TO BE PERFECT IN EVERYTHING.

WE'RE JUST GOING TO TRY TO GET BETTER AS WE MOVE FORWARD WITH THINGS.

SO I'LL JUST BRIEFLY TOUCH ON OUR OUR SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING AND SOME OF THE ACTIVITIES THAT WE'VE BEEN DOING.

WE'LL TAKE A LOOK AT ATTENDANCE.

AND WE HAVE A NEW POLICY AND PLAN THAT WE'RE HOPING TO MOVE FORWARD WITH OUR TARDIES AND ATTENDANCE.

TAKE A LITTLE LOOK AT DISCIPLINE, AND THEN WE'LL TAKE A LOOK AT SOME OF THE ACADEMIC.

I KNOW WE HAVE SEVERAL GOALS BECAUSE WE HAVE ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS FOR FOURTH, EIGHTH AND 10TH GRADE AND MATH FOR FOURTH, EIGHTH AND 10TH GRADE.

WE HAVE NINTH GRADE ON TRACK.

GRADUATION RATES ARE NINTH GRADE, STAYING ON TRACK AND PASSING ALL THEIR CLASSES.

AND THEN WE ALSO HAVE GRADUATION RATES FOR FOUR YEAR AND FIVE YEAR, AS WELL AS OUR PLC PROCESS GOAL.

AND I'LL TOUCH ON THAT TOO.

ON HOW OUR TEACHERS ARE USING PLC TIME TO IMPACT STUDENT LEARNING.

SO JUMPING A LITTLE BIT INTO SOCIAL EMOTIONAL, WE'VE BEEN WORKING WITH OUR PBIS TEAM ON ESTABLISHING A NEW BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS MATRIX.

THIS YEAR WE MOVED TO A NEW SCHOOL SO WE DON'T HAVE THE EXACT SAME BUILDING THAT WE'VE BEEN IN.

SO WE'VE BEEN TRYING TO ESTABLISH THOSE POSITIVE BEHAVIORAL EXPECTATIONS IN DIFFERENT AREAS OF THE SCHOOL.

AND SO WITH OUR PBIS TEAM, WHICH INCLUDES PARENTS, CLASSIFIED STAFFS OR CERTIFICATED STAFF AND ADMINISTRATION AND OUR COUNSELING, WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO TO TRY TO CHANGE OUR PREVIOUS MATRIX INTO LIKE MORE STUDENT FRIENDLY MATRIX THAT INCLUDES EXPLICIT TEACHING INFORMATION THAT'S HELPFUL FOR STUDENTS TO BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND THOSE EXPECTATIONS EASIER.

WE'VE ALSO BEEN TRYING TO [INAUDIBLE] WE HAVE PAUSE, PAUSE, REFERRALS, AND WE RIGHT NOW, CURRENTLY WE HAVE 114 DISCIPLINE REFERRALS AND WE HAVE 50 WHAT THESE CALL PAWS POSITIVE REFERRALS WHERE WHERE STUDENTS GET POSITIVE REFERRALS FOR GOING ABOVE AND BEYOND THE EXPECTED BEHAVIORS THAT THEY HAVE.

AND SO BASICALLY JUST WE HAVE A GOAL FOR OUR OUR SCHOOL TO PROVIDE TO EVERY STAFF MEMBER.

WE'LL PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH TWO POSITIVE REFERRALS EVERY MONTH.

[00:55:05]

SO THAT WAY STUDENTS CONTINUE TO BE ACKNOWLEDGED FOR THE GREAT WORK THEY'RE DOING.

IT'S EASY TO SEE THE GREAT WORK THAT IS GOING ON WITH STUDENTS AROUND THE CAMPUS.

BUT LIKE I SAID, WE WANT TO CONTINUE TO DO THAT SO THAT STUDENTS CONTINUE TO BE WE CONTINUE TO SHOWCASE THEIR THE POSITIVE WORK THAT THEY'RE DOING WITH THEIR WITH BEHAVIOR AND THINGS IN THE CLASSROOM.

OUR NUMBER ONE DISCIPLINE ISSUE THAT WE'VE HAD AT CAM HAS BEEN TECHNOLOGY MISUSE WITH BASICALLY OVER 50% OF THE INFRACTIONS ARE RELATED TO CELL PHONE AND CHROMEBOOK MISUSE.

SO MOST OF THESE INCIDENTS, NOT PROBABLY HUGE SURPRISE ARE HAPPENING IN THE UPPER MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH IN HIGH SCHOOL, ESPECIALLY.

OUR NINTH GRADERS, HAVE TENDED TO HAVE THE MOST CHALLENGE WITH THOSE SPECIFIC THINGS.

SO WE HAD TO WE'RE LOOKING AT TRYING TO EXPLICITLY TEACH SOME OF THESE THINGS SO THAT OUR STUDENTS CAN CAN GROW IN THESE AREAS AND NOT HAVE THE CHALLENGES OF SOME OF THE TECHNOLOGY INFRACTIONS.

I'M GOING TO KEEP MOVING ON HERE SO I KNOW TIME GOES QUICKLY AND YOU CAN FEEL FREE TO ASK QUESTIONS WHEN WE GET THERE, BECAUSE I'LL HAVE SOME MAYBE HAVE SOME ANSWERS FOR YOU.

WE'VE BEEN SUPPORTED BY KRISTEN MCINTYRE.

OUR PBIS COACH HAS BEEN AWESOME.

SHE'S SHE'S GONE TO ALL OF OUR MEETINGS TO PROVIDE US FEEDBACK AND SUPPORT ALONG THE WAY.

WE ONLY HAVE THANKFULLY, WE ONLY HAVE FOUR STUDENTS THAT HAVE FIVE OR MORE REFERRALS IN THE SCHOOL.

SO THAT MAKES IT A LITTLE EASIER TO INCORPORATE TIER TWO SUPPORTS KIND OF MORE WITH MYSELF AND COUNSELOR AND WORKING TOGETHER CLOSELY WITH THOSE TEACHERS HAVE THOSE STUDENTS IN THEIR CLASSES.

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT'S BEEN AWESOME THIS YEAR WITH TRYING TO INCREASE LEADERSHIP ACROSS THE SCHOOLS, WE'VE HAD STUDENTS IN GRADES 3 THROUGH 12 READ ANNOUNCEMENTS IN THE MORNING, SO THEY COME TO THE OFFICE AND THEY DO.

THEY READ THE ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR THE DAY.

SO USUALLY THE HOMEROOM TEACHER PICKS A STUDENT FROM THE CLASSROOM THAT WANTS TO READ.

WE DON'T FORCE THEM TO READ, BUT GIVES THEM AN OPPORTUNITY TO READ IT IN FRONT OF THE ENTIRE STUDENT BODY.

SO WE HAVE THIRD GRADERS READING IT TO SENIORS.

AND YOU'VE GOT, YOU KNOW, EVERY GRADE LEVEL HAS AN OPPORTUNITY TO DO THAT.

SO WE'LL HAVE OVER 100 HUNDRED STUDENTS BE ABLE TO READ THE ANNOUNCEMENTS DURING THE COURSE OF THE YEAR.

SO IT'S JUST A GREAT OPPORTUNITY AND IT GIVES THEM MORE CONFIDENCE TO BE ABLE TO TALK INTO THE RECEIVER AND BE ABLE TO GIVE THAT INFORMATION OUT.

AND THEN AND THEN ONE OF THE THINGS THAT'S BEEN NEAT WITH EVEN WITH PBIS IS TRYING TO INVOLVE OUR STUDENTS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE BY HAVING THEM BE A PART OF WHEN WE MEET THE ALL SCHOOL PBIS GOALS WE HAVE, WE HAVE A JAR OF TICKETS THAT WE USE.

WE HAVE THESE TICKETS THAT THE TEACHERS GIVE STUDENTS FOR MEETING THE EXPECTED BEHAVIORS.

AND WHEN THAT JAR HITS A CERTAIN LEVEL, THEY MEET A SCHOOL WIDE GOAL AND THEY MET THE FIRST GOAL, WHICH IS WHICH THEY WENT.

AND WE HAVE A SCHOOL WIDE SPIRIT DAY THAT ASB KIND OF WENT AROUND AND SURVEYED STUDENTS ON OUT OF A CHOICE OF FIVE DIFFERENT THINGS ON WHAT THEY WANTED TO BE ABLE TO DO.

AND I THINK OUR MAKE THE MEALS GASP GIVE YOU AN UPDATE ON THEY THEY DID THE UGLY THEY DID AN UGLY SWEATER DAY AND DRESS UP AS YOUR FAVORITE CHARACTER DAY AND ALSO DID A TREAT DAY, YOU KNOW, AS THAT.

BUT THEY WERE INVOLVED IN MAKING THOSE DECISIONS.

IT WASN'T SOMETHING WE GAVE THEM.

THEY GOT TO CHOOSE AND TALK TO THEIR THEIR OTHER THE OTHER STUDENTS TO KIND OF HELP MAKE THAT HAPPEN.

WE'RE GOING TO ALSO HAVE A TACO BAR FOR A SECOND, PBIS, GO, ALSO ALL SCHOOL TACO BAR LUNCHEON, SODEXO ON FEBRUARY 17TH. AND THEN SOME OF THE OTHER LEADERSHIP THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN REALLY COOL DURING THE COURSE OF THE YEAR.

I'M JUST GOING TO BRIEFLY MENTION SOME OF THOSE, AND THAT INCLUDES THE ICE CREAM SOCIAL AT THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR WHERE NHS PASSED OUT MAPS AND PROVIDED TOURS FOR OUR NEW FAMILIES THAT CAME INTO THE SCHOOL.

WE HAD A VETERANS DAY ASSEMBLY WHERE OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL, ASB, HIGH SCHOOL ASB, ALL WORKED TOGETHER TO KIND OF CREATE THAT AGENDA AND BRING IN PEOPLE FROM THE OUTSIDE, INCLUDING WE HAD A SPEAKER THAT WAS IN AL, SHE HAD ALS BUT WAS ABLE TO COME IN AND STILL IT WAS NEAT FOR OUR STUDENTS TO BE ABLE TO SEE THAT WE HAVE GUEST SPEAKERS FROM MANY DIFFERENT AREAS THAT HAVE DIFFERENT EXPERIENCES, THAT HAVE A LOT OF THINGS TO CONTRIBUTE TO OUR TO OUR SCHOOL. AND IT WAS AWESOME.

WE HAD THE MIDDLE SCHOOL, HAD THEIR FIRST EVER PEP ASSEMBLY WHERE THEY PUT TOGETHER ACTIVITIES FOR ALL THE MIDDLE SCHOOL AND THEY GOT TO PIE THE PRINCIPAL WITH THE PIE IN THE FACE. AND THEY ALSO GAVE A TEACHER A LITTLE BIT OF PIE WITH THOSE ACTIVITIES.

WE HAD STUDENTS GO TO SLOUCHY PERRY TRAIN RIDE.

ONLY 20% OF OUR STUDENTS HAD INDICATED THEY'D EVER BEEN ON A TRAIN BEFORE.

SO FOR THEM TO BE ABLE TO GO TO SLOUCHY PERRY TO BE A PART OF THAT WAS WAS PRETTY COOL AND BE ABLE TO SEE SOMETHING THAT'S REAL CLOSE BY AND WORK WITH

[01:00:08]

OUR LOCAL AREA TO HAVE THAT OPPORTUNITY.

OUR HIGH SCHOOL AT THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR DID AN [INAUDIBLE] FIELD TRIP LIKE A SCAVENGER HUNT WHERE THEY WENT OUT INTO THE NATURE AND THEY WERE ABLE TO DO SOME TEAM BUILDING ACTIVITIES WHERE THEY'RE ABLE TO WORK AS A TEAM TO FIND DIFFERENT THINGS THAT ARE OUT IN NATURE AND COME BACK TOGETHER AND EAT LUNCH TOGETHER AND GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER, BUT ALSO BE ABLE TO BE ON A FIELD TRIP TOGETHER TOO.

SO THAT WAS THE ENTIRE HIGH SCHOOL.

AND THEN WE'VE DONE A COUPLE OF DIFFERENT CANNED FOOD DRIVES.

WE HAD A CHESS CLUB WITH WITH CHESS CLUB WITH WE HAD IT WAS I MEAN, CHESS TOURNAMENT WHERE WE HAD 50 STUDENTS COMPETE IN A CHESS TOURNAMENT IN GRADES .

THROUGH 12. AND OUR NHS WORKED TO GET CHESS BOARDS DONATED AND A PARENT TO DONATE PRIZES FOR THOSE STUDENT PARTICIPANTS.

AND THEN MOST RECENTLY, WE JUST HAD THIS LAST THURSDAY, WE HAD A IT'S JUST AN EXAMPLE OF HOW THE SCHOOL COMMUNITY AND GREATER COMMUNITY HAVE KIND OF GATHERED AROUND TO SUPPORT STUDENTS.

WE HAD A FOURTH GRADE STUDENT WHO CAME TO HIS TEACHER AND MADE IT TEACHERS, I SHOULD SAY, AND MADE A REQUEST THAT HIS UNCLE WAS DYING FROM NOT DYING, I SHOULD SAY, BUT HAS CANCER, A SERIOUS FORM OF CANCER, AND ASKED IF WE COULD HAVE 1,000 PAPER CRANES WOULD BE MADE.

AND THE THING BEHIND THE STORY IS THAT THIS HIS UNCLE, WHO HAD HAD THE CANCER WHEN HE WAS IN FOURTH GRADE, HIS TEACHER AT SILVER, SILVER STAR HAD CANCER.

AND THEY ALL, AS A AS A GROUP, MADE PAPER CRANES AND HELPED TO MEET THIS GOAL, WHICH WHEN YOU MAKE 1,000 PAPER CRANES, IT MEANS THAT THEY GET ONE WISH. AND IT'S LIKE, I BELIEVE IN THE JAPANESE CULTURE.

YOU GET YOU GET A WISH.

AND SO WE GOT TOGETHER THURSDAY LAST WEEK.

WE HAD OVER 80 STUDENTS STAY AFTER SCHOOL IN ALL GRADES AND HELP MAKE MAKE PAPER CRANES, INCLUDING OUR SUPERINTENDENT AND SHELLY WERE THERE AND WE HAD MANY OTHER PARENTS HELP SUPPORT THAT.

AND WE HAD 194 PAPER CRANES THAT WERE MADE THAT DAY.

AND EVERY DAY WE KEEP MORE, MORE PAPER CRANES COMING IN.

MRS. WHITTEN JUST GAVE ME SOME MORE PAPER CRANES TO ADD TO THE LIST, SO JUST AWESOME.

IT'S A LOT OF SUPPORT AND IT'S JUST EXCITING TO BE ABLE TO BE KIND OF A FLY ON THE WALL AND JUST KIND OF WATCH SOME OF THESE THINGS KIND OF HAPPENING.

AND IT JUST GIVES ME GOOSEBUMPS TO KNOW THAT THAT WE HAVE WE HAVE A GREAT COMMUNITY AND IT'S AWESOME TO BE A PART OF THAT.

I MUST GET DOWN INTO ATTENDANCE.

OVERALL, WE'VE HAD PRETTY GOOD ATTENDANCE FOR THE MOST PART DURING THE COURSE OF THE YEAR, BUT WE ARE PLANNING TO IMPLEMENT A POLICY WHERE IN THE SECOND SEMESTER WE'RE WHERE IF STUDENTS HAVE THREE OR MORE TARDIES, WE ARE GOING TO HAVE A CONFERENCE TO LOOK AT THE CONTRACT AND TO LOOK AT THE CONTRACT ON HOW THINGS ARE GOING TO GO TO MAKE SURE THAT STUDENTS ARE GETTING TO SCHOOL ON TIME.

MAINLY TARDIES AND ATTENDANCE ARE THE THINGS WE'VE KIND OF BEEN LOOKING AT.

I SEE THEM GETTING SHORT ON TIME, SO I'M GOING TO KIND OF MOVE AHEAD TO SOME OF THE ACADEMICS.

WHEN I WAS GOING TO LOOK A LITTLE BIT AT SOME OF THE IRA DATA BECAUSE I THINK IT WAS KIND OF IT'S KIND OF INTERESTING TO SEE.

IN THE PAST, WE USED TO HAVE A LOT MORE STUDENTS THAT COME IN TO CAM THAT WOULD BE AT GRADE LEVEL OR ABOVE AND THIS YEAR, JUST THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS THAT ARE THAT ARE AT GRADE LEVEL IS A LOT LOWER.

WE HAD 66% OF STUDENTS IN THIRD GRADE THAT CAME IN AT IN IN THE GREEN RANGE.

BUT IN THE WINTER WE WENT UP TO 81%.

SO THERE WAS A 15% GROWTH FROM FALL TO WINTER.

AND THE BIGGER THING IS THAT WE'RE SEEING A DECREASE IN THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS THAT ARE TO GRADE LEVELS OF MORE BELOW MOVING UP FROM THERE.

ONE OF THE THINGS ALSO IS THAT WE HAD IN FOURTH GRADE, WE WENT FROM 44% UP TO 62%, WHICH IS AN 18% INCREASE.

AND THEN IN MATH, FOR FOURTH GRADE, WE STARTED ONLY 24% OF THE STUDENTS CAME IN AT IN THE GREEN AND WE MOVED UP TO 37%.

AND THEN IN FOURTH GRADE, THEY WERE AT 33% AND WENT UP TO 68%.

SO THEY HAD A 35% GAIN FROM FALL TO WINTER.

AND I KNOW THE BIG THING THERE IS YOU HAVE TO MEET KIDS WHERE THEY ARE.

SO WHETHER THEY'RE AT 80% COMING IN OR 30% COMING IN, WE HAVE TO FIND WAYS TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THOSE STUDENTS.

AND THEN IN THE MIDDLE SCHOOL GRADES, FIFTH THROUGH EIGHTH GRADE, WE SAW GROWTH IN ALL AREAS BETWEEN 10 TO 15% GROWTH IN READING AND MATH, PRETTY MUCH ACROSS THE BOARD BETWEEN FALL AND WINTER.

AND WE'RE EXCITED BECAUSE WE'RE GOING TO GET TO DO A SPRING ONE AS WELL.

SO THIS IS THE FIRST YEAR THAT WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO DO SPRING, OR AT LEAST THAT I CAN REMEMBER THAT WE'RE GOING TO DO A SPRING [INAUDIBLE] SO THAT WE CAN HAVE THREE POINTS OF

[01:05:04]

TIME ACROSS THE BOARD AT HIGH SCHOOL.

A LOT OF TIMES WE LOOK AT D AND F REPORTS AS FAR AS IF STUDENTS ARE SUCCESSFUL OR NOT, AND IF THEY ARE, IF THEY ARE, IF THEY'RE IF THEY'RE STRUGGLING IN THOSE AREAS, THEN THEY GO ON AN INTERVENTION PLAN THAT'S WITH AN ALE SCHOOL.

STUDENTS THAT ARE FAILING CLASSES GO ON AN INTERVENTION PLAN, AND IT'S THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE TEACHER AND THE AND THE PARENTS AND THE STUDENTS TO ALL WORK TOGETHER TO GET THE STUDENT BACK ON TRACK AGAIN.

I'M GOING TO SKIP RIGHT OVER. SO WE'RE GOING TO GET ON TO OUR NINTH GRADE ON TRACK, ALL SUBJECT AREAS.

WE HAD 94 TO 95% OF THE STUDENTS ARE TYPICALLY HAVE BEEN ON TRACK TO PASS ALL THEIR SUBJECTS IN NINTH GRADE.

AND WE HAVE THREE STUDENTS CURRENTLY THAT ARE IN DANGER OF FAILING CLASSES.

BUT WE'VE BEEN REALLY WORKING HARD WITH THEM.

WE'RE HOPING BETWEEN NOW AND FRIDAY THEY'LL BE ABLE TO PASS THEIR CLASSES AND GET THROUGH THAT.

THEY'VE BEEN COMING IN ON WEDNESDAYS TO GET EXTRA HELP.

THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE WE HAVE WITH THIS IS A LOT OF TIMES IS ATTENDANCE, KIDS TAKING VACATIONS OR LEAVING WHEN THEY NEED TO BE AT SCHOOL.

SO THAT'S THE BIG CHALLENGE THERE.

OUR GRADUATION, FOUR YEAR RATE AND FIVE YEAR RATE.

TYPICALLY, OUR STUDENTS THAT ARE ON CAMPUS, USUALLY WE'RE ABLE TO GET ALL THOSE STUDENTS TO BE ABLE TO GRADUATE ON TIME.

THE CHALLENGING PART IS WHEN STUDENTS GO TO A RUNNING START AND WE DON'T SEE THEM ALL THE TIME.

ONE OF THE THINGS WE'VE BEEN DOING TO TRY TO ENSURE THAT WE DON'T HAVE STUDENTS NOT MEET THEIR HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS IS TO MAKE SURE WHEN THEY DO THEIR THEIR ENROLLMENT VERIFICATION FORM, THAT THEY DO ALL THEIR HIGH SCHOOL REQUIREMENTS FIRST BEFORE THEY GET INTO DOING THEIR AA REQUIREMENTS.

SO THAT WAY, EVEN IF THEY DO FAIL A CLASS OR SOMETHING HAPPENS ALONG THE WAY, WE HAVE TIME TO HELP THEM GRADUATE ON TIME.

AND THEN FIFTH YEAR GRADUATION RATES.

WE DON'T HAVE A LOT OF KIDS COMING BACK FOR A FIFTH YEAR.

IT'S I DO HAVE I HAD ONE STUDENT FROM LAST YEAR THAT THAT GOT CAUGHT CHEATING ON A TEST AT CLARK AND THEY FAILED THE CLASS.

AND SO THEN HE HAD TO COME BACK IN THE SUMMER AND TAKE A CLASS.

HE DID SIGN UP FOR IT, BUT HE DID NOT FINISH IT.

BUT HE'S ONE OF THOSE STUDENTS THAT I KEEP IN TOUCH WITH AND ASK THEM ALREADY SIGNED UP FOR ANOTHER CLASS, YOU KNOW, ARE YOU ABLE TO FINISH? YOU KNOW, SO IT'S JUST TRYING TO KEEP WORKING WITH THEM AS THEY GO THROUGH.

THE LAST THING IS THE PLCS.

HOW IS THAT DIFFERENT AT CAM AND FOR PLCS? IT'S BEEN QUITE DIFFERENT THIS YEAR.

OUR ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS TEACHERS HAVE BEEN WORKING MORE VERTICALLY, SO A THREE, FOUR AND FIVE HAVE BEEN WORKING CLOSELY TOGETHER AS WELL AS SIX THROUGH TWELVE VERTICALLY AND KIND OF FOCUSED ON THOSE ESSENTIAL STANDARDS.

WORKING TOGETHER CLOSELY, OUR MATH TEACHERS HAVE BEEN WORKING MORE AT OTHER SCHOOLS, SO OUR THIRD GRADE HAS BEEN WORKING WITH TUKES VALLEY MATH TEACHERS, AND OUR FOURTH GRADE TEACHER HAS BEEN WORKING WITH MAPLE GROVE FOR MATH.

FIFTH GRADE HAS BEEN WORKING AT CHIEF, SIXTH GRADE HAS BEEN WORKING AT CHIEF, SEVENTH AND EIGHTH GRADE HAS BEEN WORKING AT CHIEF.

AND THEN WE'VE BEEN HIGH SCHOOL.

OUR ALGEBRA TEACHERS WORKING AT BATTLE GROUND HIGH SCHOOL WITH THEIR TEACHERS THERE.

OUR AP COMPUTER SCIENCE TEACHER IS WORKING AT WITH BATTLE GROUND AND PERRY FOR THE AP COMPUTER SCIENCE PRINCIPLES CLASS.

AND SO IT'S JUST BEEN IT'S BEEN GREAT.

AND THEN LAST THING, AP COURSES, WE HAD 108 STUDENTS.

WE HAD 108 EXAMS TAKEN LAST YEAR DURING THE 21-22, AND WE HAD 65% OF THE STUDENTS PASS OUT OF THOSE 108.

AND THEN BIOLOGY.

JUST KIND OF A QUICK RUNDOWN.

BIOLOGY HAD 74% PASSAGE RATE, 73% FOR AP COMPUTER SCIENCE PRINCIPLES, 89% FOR AP ENGLISH LIT COMPOSITION.

AP HUMAN GEOGRAPHY HAD 56%.

AP MODERN WORLD HISTORY HAD 88%.

AND THEN AP US GOVERNMENT POLITICS HAD 40%.

SO I THINK THAT'S ALL I HAVE FOR NOW.

THERE ARE PROBABLY MORE IF YOU WANT TO VISIT, BUT OTHERWISE THAT'S ALL I GOT.

THANK YOU. ANY QUESTIONS? COMMENTS FROM THE BOARD? WE HAVE 10 MINUTES OF QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS.

LET'S GET STARTED.

MAYBE THE STUDENTS.

DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? HONESTLY, WE WERE JUST PAYING ATTENTION TO THE FACT, LIKE IT SAYS, OVER A 99% STUDENT ATTENDANCE RATE.

AND WE WERE, LIKE, REALLY CONFUSED.

SO AND THERE IS ACTUALLY THAT DATA.

MR. KENNEDY HAS SOME DATA OVER THERE THAT THAT'S ACTUALLY MORE LIKE 89%.

BUT I THINK THAT THEY MIGHT HAVE SOMETHING MUST HAVE GOT UPDATED OR CHANGED.

AND WE ACTUALLY WEREN'T AS GOOD AS WHAT THE SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLAN SAID.

SO WE ACTUALLY CAME BACK AND ENDEAVORED TO WE KNEW THAT I MEAN, WE DIDN'T WE WEREN'T REALLY TRULY 99%, SO WE NEEDED TO COME BACK AND ADDRESS THAT.

SO YEAH.

MY QUESTION KIND OF WAS ABOUT THE ATTENDANCE, TOO.

[01:10:01]

SO I'LL JUMP IN HERE BECAUSE I LOOKED AT THAT AND THAT LOOKED LIKE YOUR DATA PREVIOUSLY HAD BEEN LOOKED LIKE THAT 99%.

AND SO I WAS LIKE, WOW, THOSE KIDS REALLY WANT TO GET BACK TO SCHOOL AFTER COVID.

BUT THEN I LOOKED AT THE YEAR AND REALIZED IT WAS YEAH, IT WAS PREVIOUS TO THAT.

AND YOUR I KNOW YOU TALKED ABOUT YOUR DISCIPLINE A LITTLE BIT, BUT YOUR DISCIPLINE DATA REALLY IS VERY SMALL WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS THAT YOU. SO TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WHY THAT IS IT THE CULTURE? IS IT JUST BECAUSE OF THE KIDS YOU'RE SERVING? IS IT WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE THERE? IT'S WELL, IT'S IT'S I WOULD SAY IN THAT SITUATION, WE HAVE I MEAN, WE ARE A PARENT PARTNER PROGRAM.

SO THERE IS A HIGH EXPECTATION WHEN THE KIDS COME IN THAT MEAN THAT THEY'LL RESENT WE HAVE A THING CALLED HABITS OF LEARNERS WHEN THEY COME IN.

AND PART OF THAT IS BEHAVIOR.

SO WHEN THEY COME IN, WE LOOK AT THEIR I MEAN, WE DON'T WE WE ALL STUDENTS THAT APPLY AT CAM ACADEMY CAN COME IN TO CAM ACADEMY IS WE DON'T LOOK AT, YOU KNOW, OH, YOU HAD A REFERRAL OVER HERE YOU CAN'T COME INTO THE SCHOOL.

IT'S NOT IT DOESN'T IT'S NOT LOOK THAT THAT WAY I THINK THE BIG THING THERE IS THAT WE TRY TO I GUESS THE BIGGEST THING IS THAT WE TRY TO BUILD POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS WITH THEM.

I THINK THAT WITH HAVING THE PARENT SUPPORT IS HUGE TOO, AS FAR AS LIKE WHEN THERE IS A DISCIPLINE ISSUE THAT COMES UP, PARENTS ARE VERY SUPPORTIVE OF WHEN WHEN I NEED TO MAKE A PHONE CALL HOME TO A PARENT THERE IT'S I FEEL VERY SUPPORTED.

AND THE BEHAVIOR TYPICALLY STOPS BECAUSE THEY'RE VERY MUCH INVOLVED IN THEIR CHILD'S EDUCATION.

THEY WANT TO KNOW THAT WHEN THERE'S ANYTHING THAT GOES ON AT SCHOOL.

SO I THINK A LOT OF IT IS THAT WE HAVE A LOT OF CREDITS TO GIVE TO OUR OUR FAMILIES AND TO OUR OUR TEACHERS, TOO, FOR TRYING TO EXPLICITLY TEACH THOSE EXPECTATIONS AS WELL.

BUT I DO THINK THAT A LOT OF IT WE CAN BE APPRECIATIVE TO FOR THE HELP FROM OUR PARENTS, TOO.

OKAY. ONE OTHER QUESTION, AND THAT IS JUST ABOUT I KNOW YOU'RE NOT I MEAN, I KNOW YOU YOU WOULD LIKE YOUR DATA TO LOOK BETTER ONLY BECAUSE YOU'RE USED TO HAVING A LITTLE BETTER LOOKING BACK HISTORICALLY.

BUT IT'S JUST FROM MY VIEW, IT LOOKED LIKE 10TH GRADE WAS LESS IMPACT.

WHAT WHAT GRADE LEVELS WOULD YOU SAY WAS THE MOST IMPACTED BY COVID? BECAUSE I KNOW EVERYBODY'S HAD AN IMPACT.

SO, YEAH, IT'S HARD.

IT'S HARD TO PUT MY FINGER ON IT, I THINK.

YEAH, I DON'T I THINK IT'S A LOT OF TIMES IN THE IN THE PRIMARY GRADES, A LOT OF TIMES WHEN THEY HIT THOSE THOSE YEARS WHERE THEY LEARN, THEY'RE LEARNING HOW TO READ AND THEY'RE GETTING SOME OF THAT INSTRUCTION AND EVEN THE MATH AND SOME OF THOSE THINGS.

I FEEL LIKE SOME OF THOSE THINGS HAVE BEEN LIKE NOT AS THEY'RE MISSING SOME PIECES, I GUESS, COMING IN AS FAR AS THAT.

SO IT'S HARD TO KNOW. I THINK THE BIG MY THOUGHT IS THAT WE'RE GOING TO GET THERE.

WE'RE GOING TO GET BACK TO WHERE WE NEED TO GO, BUT IT'S GOING TO TAKE A WHILE.

AND WE NEED TO REALIZE THAT SOMETIMES STUDENTS ARE GOING TO COME IN QUITE A BIT BELOW AND WE JUST NEED TO MEET THEM WHERE THEY'RE AT AND BE WILLING TO DO INTERVENTIONS TO HELP SUPPORT THE STUDENTS SO THEY CAN BE SUCCESSFUL HERE.

APPRECIATE YOUR PATIENCE AS WE GET YOU OVER TO THE NEW BUILDING.

OH, THANK YOU. NO, YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN AMAZING.

THANK YOU SO MUCH. WE HEAR MAYBE WEDNESDAY THAT THEY MIGHT DROP SOMETHING DOWN, BUT WE'LL SEE WHAT HAPPENS.

I KNOW I WAS ALMOST TEXTING KEVIN THIS WEEKEND SAYING, HEY, WE GOT A FEW DAYS OF DRY WEATHER HERE.

IT'S SCHEDULED. BUT THEN I KEEP SEEING, YOU KNOW, RAIN SHOWERS AND SNOW SHOWERS OVER THE WEEKEND.

THAT'S JUST THE FIRST THING THAT COMES TO MIND [INAUDIBLE].

WELL, I TALKED TO YOU AT THE BREAK, RYAN, BUT IT SEEMS ALMOST LIKE A WATERSHED MOMENT FOR CAM TO HAVE ITS OWN CAMPUS HERE IN THE DISTRICT COMMITMENT TO HAVING THEM HERE. IT'D BE INTERESTING TO HEAR YOUR THOUGHTS.

NOT NOW UNDER PRESSURE OR ANYTHING YOU MIGHT LIKE.

WHERE? LIKE, WHERE IS THE PROGRAM GOING, YOU KNOW? IS THERE ROOM FOR K TWO? IS THERE A WAY TO KEEP THOSE HIGH SCHOOLERS THAT MAYBE STILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF RUNNING START BUT STAY AT THE AT THE SCHOOL AS WELL? AND SO THAT WOULD BE GREAT TO GET YOUR THOUGHTS ON THAT AS THEY BECOME PART OF OUR OUR COMMUNITY THERE.

IT WOULD BE INTERESTING TO KNOW TOO I'M SURE SOMEBODY'S GOT THIS DATA LIKE HOW MANY KIDS AND FAMILIES THAT START IN THIRD GRADE STAY ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE WHOLE WHOLE PROGRAM.

YEAH, AND I DON'T HAVE THAT IN FRONT OF ME.

BUT THERE'S I WOULD SAY IF I HAD TO GUESSTIMATE, IF I GAVE YOU A SOFT NUMBER, I'D PROBABLY SAY ABOUT 30 TO 35% AT LEAST, MAYBE MORE THAN THAT, BECAUSE THERE WAS LAST YEAR, IF YOU REMEMBER, IF AT THE GRADUATION, THAT WAS OUR FIRST CLASS THAT ACTUALLY I HAVE SENIORS THAT GRADUATED FROM THE THIRD GRADE CLASS.

AND SO OBVIOUSLY WHEN THE WHEN THE STUDENTS WERE SINGING, SOME OF THE SENIORS WERE SINGING, TOO, BECAUSE THAT WAS WHAT THEY REMEMBERED SINGING WHEN THEY WERE IN THIRD GRADE AS WELL. THE, YOU KNOW, THE CHARACTER TANGO.

SO IT WAS JUST KIND OF A SO IT WAS NEAT BECAUSE WE'RE JUST STARTING TO GET TO THAT POINT WHERE WE'RE OUR FIRST CLASS JUST MADE IT TO THERE.

SO I DON'T HAVE WE CAN LOOK AT THAT DATA FROM LAST YEAR, BUT AS WE MOVE FORWARD, WE CAN DEFINITELY SEE, YOU KNOW, WE HAVE I THINK WE HAVE A LOT OF STUDENTS THAT DO GO ALL THE

[01:15:07]

WAY. BUT BUT THERE'S STILL STUDENTS THAT DO DECIDE TO MAKE DIFFERENT CHOICES FOR A VARIETY OF REASONS.

AND WE JUST WANT TO SUPPORT THEM AND AND HAVE A MAKE THE BIG TIME WHERE THEY ARE, YOU KNOW, WHEREVER THAT IS.

SO WE WANT THEM TO HAVE A GOOD EXPERIENCE WITH US.

WE HAVE A FEW MORE MINUTES. OH, OKAY.

I JUST WANT TO SAY I APPRECIATED HOW MUCH YOU'VE SHARED ABOUT STUDENT ENGAGEMENT UPFRONT AND HOW MUCH I APPRECIATED THE DATA THAT WAS WITHIN THE CIP PLAN. I CAN BE A DATA NERD AT TIMES, AND SO I REALLY GOT TO FOLLOW THAT AND THE NUMBERS.

BUT TO THE SAME POINT FOR BATTLE GROUND, THE FOCUS THEY HAVE ON THE STUDENTS MEANT SO MUCH MORE THAN THE DATA THAT'S IN THE BOOK FOR THEM.

SO IT'S KIND OF THIS INTERESTING PERSPECTIVE OF HOW DIFFERENT OUR SCHOOLS ARE, YET STILL BOTH COMPLETELY FOCUSED ON THE STUDENTS.

SO I JUST THANK YOU TO BOTH GROUPS AND JUST WANTED TO SHARE THAT, BUT JUST FANTASTIC.

SO GREAT JOB.

AND JUST ONE MORE THING.

RYAN, I WANTED TO COMMEND YOU FOR YOUR LEADERSHIP.

WHEN I FIRST GOT TO THE DISTRICT 17 YEARS AGO, CAM HAD A CERTAIN LEVEL OF EXCLUSIVITY, EXCLUSIVITY TO IT.

AND, YOU KNOW, WE HAD ENTRANCE EXAMS TO GO TO CAM AND UNDER YOUR LEADERSHIP AND WITH THE WITH WITH THE GREAT WORK OF YOUR TEACHERS, YOU HAVE MADE CAM AN OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL OF THE STUDENTS IN THIS DISTRICT AND I AM GREATLY APPRECIATIVE FOR THAT.

SO I JUST WANTED TO SAY THANK YOU FOR THAT.

AND IT'S STILL IS HEARTWARMING TO SEE THAT EVEN THOUGH YOU'VE MADE THESE CHANGES AND YOU HAVE OPENED UP THE DOORS A LITTLE WIDER FOR ALL OF OUR PARENTS. YOUR SCORES AND YOUR PERFORMANCE STILL REMAIN TO THE TO THE HIGHEST LEVEL, AND THAT'S A CREDIT TO THE ENTIRETY OF YOUR STAFF AND TO YOU AS A LEADER.

SO THANK YOU FOR THAT.

THANKS, DENNY. THANK YOU.

WE FINISH EARLY [INAUDIBLE].

THAT CONCLUDES THE COMMENTS.

I JUST WANT TO AGAIN THANK BATTLE GROUND HIGH SCHOOL CAM ACADEMY FOR SHARING WITH US THIS EVENING.

AND THAT IS THE FINAL SCHOOL PRESENTATIONS FOR THE YEAR.

SO OFFICIAL APPROVAL OF ALL 18 SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLANS WILL OCCUR AT THE FEBRUARY 13TH SCHOOL BOARD MEETING.

AND AND DAVID AND YOUR TEAM, THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR WORK ON SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT.

WELL DONE. THANK YOU.

WELL, IT'S NOT OFTEN THAT YOU GET TO SAY WE'RE 6 MINUTES EARLY AND WE'RE GOING TO WE'RE GOING TO CONCLUDE OUR SESSION WITH WITH A LITTLE TIME TO SPARE.

SO THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

AND WE WILL BE TAKING A BREAK.

NICE JOB. THANK YOU, GUYS.

THANK YOU [APPLAUSE]. THANK YOU. I WILL ADJOURN THIS WORK SESSION AT 5:23.
