[5. Communications]

AND I DO KNOW GABE IS IN THE AUDIENCE.

IF YOU'D LIKE TO COME UP NOW, GABE AND.

SO JUST TAKE A MOMENT AND INTRODUCE YOURSELF AND WHAT SCHOOL YOU REPRESENT BEFORE SPEAKING.

HI, MY NAME IS GABE [INAUDIBLE].

I AM PART OF THE ASB AT SUMMIT VIEW HIGH SCHOOL.

NICE TO HAVE YOU. SO RECENTLY WE HAD A BLOOD DRIVE.

WE HAD 24 DONORS AND WE HAD 27 PINTS OF BLOOD.

THAT SAVED US, POTENTIALLY SAVING OVER ABOUT 72 LIVES.

WOW. SO AND THEN NOW FOR THIS MONTH, WE ARE HAVING A FOOD DRIVE FOR ANIMALS.

SO WE ARE COMPETING WITH KCA.

SO WE ARE SO FOR LIKE CERTAIN CATS, WE ARE DOING FUZZY FARMS. AND FOR LIKE ANY OTHER THINGS WHERE DONATE TO THE FOOD BANK SO PEOPLE CAN FEED THEIR PETS.

AND THAT'S A GREAT IDEA, GABE.

VERY, VERY, VERY GOOD.

YEAH. AND WE'RE JUST DOING WHATEVER IT TAKES TO BE ABLE TO, LIKE, GET WITH THE GET THE ANIMALS WHAT THEY NEED [INAUDIBLE].

WHAT WILL WE JUST BRING IT TO THE SCHOOL IF WE HAD A DONATION? YES. YOU BRING IT TO THE SCHOOL AND WE KEEP TRACK OF IT.

AND WHENEVER IT'S OVER, WE BRING IT IN TO WHATEVER THE FOOD BANK OR FUZZY FARMS. AND HOW LONG IS IT RUNNING? THE WHOLE MONTH OF JANUARY.

[00:05:01]

OKAY. NICE. YOU KNOW, GABE, I'M GOING TO BE TORN BECAUSE I HAVE A CLOSE ASSOCIATION WITH [INAUDIBLE].

BUT YOU TOLD ME FIRST, SO BRING IT ON, GABE.

ALL RIGHT, LET'S GO.

[INAUDIBLE] THANKS.

I KNOW SOME OF YOU BLOOD DRIVE IS LITERALLY INFAMOUS.

THEY DO AN AMAZING JOB EVERY YEAR.

WE SAVED OVER ALMOST POTENTIALLY 72 LIVES.

THAT'S REALLY COOL. THAT'S REALLY COOL.

THAT'S AWESOME. TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOU.

I GO TO I'M POTENTIALLY TRANSFERRING BACK TO [INAUDIBLE].

I PLAYED FOOTBALL FOR ALL FOUR YEARS.

NICE. AND I USED TO PLAY SOCCER A LITTLE BIT.

I LOVE FISHING. YEAH.

THERE YOU GO. MY UNCLE OWNS A FISHING COMPANY.

ADDICTED FISHING.

AND I I REALLY LOVE TO GO FISHING.

SO YOU'RE A SENIOR, THEN? I AM A SENIOR.

WE HAVE. WE HAD SOME OF YOU.

WE HAD A TOTAL OF 18 YEARS GRADUATE THIS YEAR, AND I'M TRYING TO GET BACK SO I CAN GRADUATE AS A TIGER LIKE MY OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS DID.

GOOD FOR YOU. SO GOOD FOR YOU.

AND THANKS AGAIN FOR BEING HERE.

YEAH. THANKS, GABE.

THANK YOU. ALL RIGHT.

AND I DON'T THINK THERE'S ANYBODY ELSE IN THE AUDIENCE FROM A STUDENT'S PERSPECTIVE.

[INAUDIBLE] SO HOW ABOUT MAYBE OUR STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES? YEAH, THINGS ARE PRETTY SLOW RIGHT NOW.

YOU KNOW, GETTING BACK INTO THE FLOW OF THINGS, I KNOW I'M HAVING A LITTLE BIT OF TROUBLE WAKING UP IN THE MORNING AS WELL.

BUT OUR CHANCE TO DANCE, DANCE LAST YEAR BEFORE WINTER BREAK STARTED OR OUR SPECIAL EDUCATION STUDENTS WENT AMAZINGLY.

AND IT WAS A REALLY GOOD EXPERIENCE AND I GOT TO JUST KIND OF SIT THERE AND PLAY JENGA FOR AN HOUR.

SO THAT WAS REALLY FUN FOR ME TOO.

BUT WE ANNOUNCED OUR PROM DATE FOR THIS YEAR AND IT'S GOING TO BE ON APRIL 1ST.

ALL THE OTHER DETAILS ARE STILL A SECRET, BUT WE HAVE THE DAY OUT, AND THAT'S ABOUT IT.

EXCEPT FOR THAT THE GRAD NIGHT FOUNDATION OF BATTLE GROUND IS HAVING A CHIPOTLE LIKE FUNDRAISER ON JANUARY 11TH, SO THIS WEDNESDAY FROM 5 TO 9 P.M..

SO SWING BY AND BRING A FLYER.

I THINK IT'S ON THE BATTLE GROUND WEBSITE, BUT YEAH, THAT'S ALL.

AWESOME. I HAVE A COUPLE OF THINGS.

SO THIS FRIDAY THE 13TH, THAT'S CRAZY.

THERE'S GOING TO BE AN MLK ASSEMBLY AT PRAIRIE.

IT'S GOING TO BE AN AM SCHEDULE, SO I'M PRETTY SURE THAT'S DURING LIKE SOMEWHERE AT 8:40 ISH.

IT WILL BE LED BY OUR BIPOC CLUB AND WE HOPE TO SEE YOU GUYS THERE BECAUSE IT IS GOING TO BE REALLY IMPACTFUL AND WE'RE WORKING REALLY HARD ON IT.

AND THEN WE HAVE A CLARK JAZZ FESTIVAL ON THE 28TH.

I HAVE A COUPLE OF THE TIMES BATTLE GROUND JAZZ THREE AT 10:40 AND THEN PRAIRIE JAZZ TWO AT 2:40 ON THE 27TH AND THEN ON THE 28TH.

BATTLE GROUND JAZZ TWO IS GOING TO BE PLAYING AT 8 A.M.

AND THEN PRAIRIE HIGH SCHOOL JAZZ BAND ONE WILL BE 11:20 A.M.

AND THEN BG JAZZ ONE WILL BE AT 8:30 P.M..

THAT'S ALL I GOT. THANK YOU.

CAN I MAKE A COMMENT? OF COURSE.

THANK YOU. I JUST LIKE TO NOTICE THAT OUR STUDENTS, OVER THE TIME, AT LEAST THAT I'VE BEEN ON THE BOARD, HAVE MANAGED TO DO ALL THE REGULAR THINGS THAT WE EXPECT STUDENTS TO. I NOTICE A DISTINCT TREND OF REALLY INVITING IN AND GIVING BACK TO OUR COMMUNITY.

THE WINTER CARNIVAL THING THAT PRAIRIE PUT ON THAT WAS SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR THAT, THE CHANCE TO DANCE, THE BLOOD DRIVE SOME OF YOU.

IT'S REALLY IMPACTFUL WHEN OUR STUDENTS TAKE THE LEAD AND SAY OUR COMMUNITY IS WELCOME AND WE WANT TO GIVE BACK AS WELL.

THANK YOU. YEAH, ALL THE FOOD DRIVES.

YEAH. IT'S AMAZING.

GOOD. GOOD POINT, MARK.

THANK YOU. ALL RIGHT.

FROM THERE, WE CAN MOVE ON TO COMMITTEE REPORTS.

AND DO WE HAVE AN UPDATE FOR THE LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE FROM DIRECTOR SNITILY? I DO. YES.

SO THE LEGISLATIVE SESSION STARTED TODAY, ACTUALLY, AND THIS IS THE LONG SESSION, AND IT WILL INCLUDE THE BIENNIUM BUDGET, WHICH IS REALLY IMPORTANT.

[00:10:10]

LAST THURSDAY, I ATTENDED THE NETWORKING THE LEDGE HOUR NETWORK WAS LEGISLATIVE NETWORK HOUR AND THE ADVOCACY SPECIALIST INTRODUCED THEMSELVES AND WALKED US THROUGH A LOT OF THE SESSION PROCESSES AND TOOLS.

SO HERE ARE SOME HIGHLIGHTS.

ONE OF THE THINGS IS THAT IT'S IN PERSON THIS YEAR AFTER BEING NOT BEING IN PERSON DURING COVID AND MANY OF THE COMMITTEES WILL STILL BE HYBRID.

SO YOU CAN ATTEND AND NOT BE IN PERSON AND YOU CAN ALWAYS GIVE FEEDBACK REGARDLESS.

THEY EXPECT TO SEE 2,000 TO 3,000 BILLS DROP THIS SESSION.

THAT IS A LOT AND OVERWHELMING, AND THEY EXPECT HUNDREDS OF BILLS TO PASS.

SO THERE WILL BE A LOT OF WORK DONE.

HERE'S AN INTERESTING THING.

THE GOVERNOR'S BUDGET, WHICH WAS RELEASED IN DECEMBER, DID NOT MENTION EDUCATION, BUT ONE OF THE THINGS THAT THEY WALKED US THROUGH WAS THE BILL WATCH TOOL, WHICH MANY OF YOU MIGHT BE FAMILIAR WITH.

AND IT'S THEY ARRANGE IT SO THAT THE URGENT BILLS THAT WE'RE WORKING ON OR WE'RE LOOKING AT FOR EDUCATION MOVED TO THE TOP.

OTHERWISE, I DON'T KNOW HOW YOU EVEN WADE THROUGH ALL OF THEM.

WE'RE TALKING ABOUT 2,000-3,000 BILLS, BUT IT ONLY TAKES A COUPLE OF CLICKS TO SAY I SUPPORT OR TO GIVE FEEDBACK ON THOSE.

AND THAT'S I THINK THAT'S THAT'S REALLY HELPFUL FOR THOSE OF US WHO ARE TRYING TO KEEP TRACK OF ALL THIS.

AND THERE WERE A COUPLE OF BILLS.

I MEAN, ALREADY TODAY, AS I WAS LOOKING AT THE BILL WATCH, IT STARTED OUT THERE WAS A SHORTER LIST AND THE LIST WAS GROWING BY THE END OF THE DAY.

SO LOTS OF BILLS COMING DOWN TWO THAT I KNOW HAVE BEEN MENTIONED HERE BEFORE.

ONE IS THE PREJUDGMENT INTEREST BILL, WHICH MICHELLE HAD REFERRED TO, AND THAT IS ALREADY IN PROCESS.

THOSE THE OTHER ONE IS SENATE BILL 5126, WHICH I THINK MARK HAD REFERRED TO THAT PROVIDES COMMON SCHOOL TRUST REVENUE, REVENUE TO SMALL SCHOOL DISTRICTS.

AND IT HAS TO DO WITH THE MANAGEMENT OF THE COMMON SCHOOL TRUST LANDS.

SO THOSE ARE JUST TWO OF THE ONES THAT POPPED UP THAT I SAW THAT WE TALKED ABOUT BEFORE.

I'M JUST LEARNING I'M NEW AT THIS, BUT IT'S KIND OF EXCITING AND I'M HAPPY TO HAVE ANYBODY JUMP IN AND WATCH BILL'S WITH ME IF YOU'D LIKE TO.

AND I'LL ADD ONE SMALL THING, IF I CAN.

SURE. YES.

IT'S DISAPPOINTING THAT EDUCATION DIDN'T CLAIM A HIGHER PROFILE THAN THE GOVERNOR'S BUDGET, BUT I WILL SAY SOMETIMES LITTLE SMALL VICTORIES COME UP.

SO A YEAR AND A HALF AGO OR TWO YEARS AGO, THEY WERE WORKING TO GET FUNDING TO GET KIDS TO OUTDOOR SCHOOL.

AND HE PICKED THE SIXTH GRADER THAT WANTS TO GO WASN'T A BIG MONEY ITEM, WASN'T VERY CONTROVERSIAL, GOT SUPPORT AND PEOPLE GOT ON THERE AND PASSED IT.

AND I THINK IF I'VE NOT LOST TRACK OF TOO MANY, WE HAVE THREE DIFFERENT SCHOOLS IN OUR SCHOOL DISTRICT PARTICIPATING IN OUTDOOR SCHOOL WHERE THE TRANSPORTATION IS PAID FOR BY THAT BILL.

SO EVEN THOSE SMALL THINGS, EVEN THOUGH THEY'RE NOT THE BIG ONES ALL THE TIME, YOU CAN MAKE MAKE SMALL VICTORIES BY WATCHING FOR.

THANK YOU. ANY OTHER THINGS TO SHARE? GREAT OUR NEXT COMMITTEE IS AN AUDIT COMMITTEE REPORT.

MELISSA GRANTHAM, MARK WATRIN, NEW MEMBER, AND MYSELF, MARY SNITILY.

WE REVIEWED PAYROLL VOUCHERS, SUPERINTENDENTS, BUDGET BOARD, BUDGET SUPERINTENDENT TIMESHEET AND EVERYTHING WAS IN ORDER.

AND THEN WE DID A BRIEF REVIEW OF OUR PROTOCOLS AND PROCEDURES AND WE WILL BE REVIEWING MARK AND I WILL BE REVIEWING THAT, THE AUDIT COMMITTEE CHARTER.

I JUST WANT TO THANK THE TEAM [INAUDIBLE] WORKED WITH CINDY BEFORE AND SHE'S WONDERFUL TO WORK WITH, AND DIRECTOR SNITILY AND THE REST OF THE CREW HELPED BRING ME ALONG ON MY FIRST MEETING, I THINK I CAN PICK IT UP QUICKLY.

I'LL BE ON TOP OF IT BY THE NEXT ONE.

THAT BRINGS US TO THE EDUCATION FOUNDATION.

I WILL GIVE THAT REPORT SINCE DIRECTOR HENRIKSON IS OUT.

THEY THEY DO.

THE EDUCATION FOUNDATION DOES HAVE A MEETING COMING UP ON JANUARY 19TH.

THEY DID SEND OUT JUST A HAPPY NEW YEAR EMAIL THAT WELCOMED ROB TO JOIN THEIR TEAM.

[00:15:10]

THEY ALSO RECOGNIZED WITH THE HELP OF LISA RANDALL AND MIKE KESSLER, THEY WERE ABLE TO PICK UP A VERY LARGE DONATION OF SCHOOL SUPPLIES FROM THE KGW DRIVE THAT TOOK PLACE IN THE FALL.

THE SUPPLIES WILL HELP THEM IN THEIR PREPARATIONS FOR THE BACKPACK PROGRAM FOR NEXT YEAR.

AND SO THAT WAS A HUGE WIN FOR THEM.

THEY HAVE ALREADY BEGUN WORKING ON THEIR AUCTION FOR NEXT YEAR, AND I THINK THERE WILL BE MORE TO COME AT THE MEETING.

AND LAST YEAR, THEY WERE ABLE TO, WITH THE HELP OF AN ALUMNI SPONSOR, A $5,000 SCIENCE SCHOLARSHIP.

AND IT LOOKS LIKE THAT WILL BE RETURNING THIS YEAR.

SO THAT'S VERY EXCITING FOR ONE OF OUR STUDENTS AT OUR HIGH SCHOOLS.

AND SO I'M SURE DIRECTOR HENRICKSON WILL HAVE MORE TO REPORT AFTER THAT MEETING AT OUR NEXT BOARD MEETING.

AND SO ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THAT? OKAY, OUR NEXT COMMITTEE IS WIAA, AND WITH DIRECTOR CHAMPINE OUT, I'M GOING TO SAY WE DON'T HAVE A REPORT.

DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANYTHING TO SHARE ON THAT? I DON'T THINK THAT THERE WAS A MEETING ACTUALLY HELD.

AND THEN OUR NEXT COMMITTEE WOULD BE, WELL, WSSDA UPDATES.

AND SO DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY WSSDA UPDATES TO SHARE? MAYBE JUST THAT THE WSSDA NETWORKING MEETINGS ARE ACTUALLY GOING TO BE WEEKLY NOW.

THEY WERE BIWEEKLY AND THEY'RE ALL BE COMPLETELY DEDICATED TO LEGISLATIVE UPDATES, WHICH THINGS CAN MOVE QUICKLY WHEN YOU'RE TRYING TO MOVE 2 TO 3,000 BILLS. THANK YOU.

THAT BRINGS US TO OUR LAST UPDATE, WHICH IS OUR TOURS COMMITTEE.

WE HAVE A TOUR THIS FRIDAY FOR GROUP ONE, AND THEN THE GROUP TWO AND GROUP THREE TOURS ARE ACTUALLY THE FOLLOWING FRIDAY ON JANUARY 20TH.

I BELIEVE IN GROUP ONE IS SUPERINTENDENT WATERS, DIRECTOR WATRIN AND MYSELF, AND WE WILL BE TOURING GLENWOOD HEIGHTS PRIMARY AND THEN GROUP TWO WILL BE GOING TO PLEASANT VALLEY MIDDLE SCHOOL AND GROUP THREE WILL BE GOING TO TUKES VALLEY PRIMARY.

SO WE'LL HAVE MORE TO REPORT ON THAT AT OUR NEXT MEETING.

ANY ADDITIONAL THING TO ADD TO THOSE TOURS? OKAY. THAT BRINGS US TO DIRECTORS REPORTS.

THANK YOU, MS. MADDUX THE SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT.

I'D LIKE TO FIRST HIGHLIGHT A REALLY GREAT ACTIVITY THAT TOOK PLACE.

DO WE HAVE ANY DIRECTORS? YEAH. OH, I'M SORRY.

THAT'S OKAY. SUPERINTENDENT'S GOING TO BRING UP THE CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMITTEE, SO MAYBE I'LL CHIME IN AT THAT TIME.

YES. I'M SORRY.

SO, WITHOUT ANY DIRECTORS REPORTS, HOW ABOUT WE TURN IT OVER TO I JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU.

BECAUSE I'M REALLY STRUGGLING WITH THIS, AND YOU GUYS ARE ALL HELPING ME FEEL VERY LIKE NORMAL.

SO THANKS FOR FAKING IT FOR ME.

[6. Superintendent and Staff Updates]

SO SUPERINTENDENTS REPORT.

I WANTED TO HIGHLIGHT LAST WEEK AT AT GLENWOOD, THERE WAS A WONDERFUL EVENT.

IF YOU'RE NOT FAMILIAR, THIS IS SLUMBER KINS.

SLUMBER KINS ARE A SERIES OF I MEAN, I GUESS YOU WOULD CALL THEM STUFFED ANIMALS.

YOU CAN SEE THAT THERE'S A LOT MORE THAN YOU CAN SEE.

THERE'S A WHOLE BUNCH HONEY BEAR AND OTTER AND AND YAK AND ALPACA AND DRAGONFLIES AND HAMMERHEADS AND UNICORNS AND [INAUDIBLE].

AND EACH ONE COMES WITH A SOCIAL EMOTIONAL SKILL THAT STUDENTS CAN LEARN FROM.

SO, FOR INSTANCE, YOU'LL SEE THERE THAT THE OTTER CAN HAS BUILDING CONNECTIONS AND THE SPRITE WOULD DEAL WITH GRIEF AND LOSS.

WELL, IT JUST SO HAPPENS THAT THE FOUNDERS OF SLUMBER KINS, WHICH IS A NATIONAL NOW PRODUCT AND ACTUALLY HAS A TV SHOW ON APPLE TV, IF YOU WANT TO SEE IT, IT'S GREAT.

[00:20:01]

AND THE TV SHOW IS ACTUALLY RUN BY THE SAME COMPANY HENSON.

THE MUPPETS WHO DID THE MUPPETS.

SO THEY'VE TURNED THEY'VE TURNED THESE INTO CHARACTERS ON THIS TV SHOW.

BUT ANYWAY, SLUMBER KINS WAS FOUNDED BY TWO PRAIRIE HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES BY THE NAME OF KELLY ORIARD AND CALLIE CHRISTENSEN, THE COUNSELOR AT GLENWOOD DEB WOOD.

DEB WAS USING THE SLUMBER KINS BOOKS.

AND THESE NOT NOT THE DOLLS, BUT THE BOOKS AND THE STORIES TO WORK WITH THE KINDERGARTNERS AND THE FIRST GRADERS AT GLENWOOD.

WELL, CALLIE AND KELLY HEARD ABOUT THIS, AND SO THEY CAME TO GLENWOOD AND EVERY SINGLE KINDERGARTEN KID AND EVERY SINGLE FIRST GRADE KID WALKED AWAY WITH A SLUMBER KIN.

AND IT WAS COOL.

IT WAS ACTUALLY FEATURED ON A STORY ON FOX CHANNEL 12, BUT VERY, VERY, VERY COOL.

KELLY'S KELLY'S MOM WAS SANDRA RUSSELL, AND SANDRA RUSSELL WAS A LONGTIME SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST IN THE DISTRICT.

AND I WORK CLOSELY WITH SANDRA, ONE OF MY ONE OF THE PEOPLE WHO HELPED ME LEARN SO MUCH BACK WHEN I WAS AT BATTLE GROUND HIGH SCHOOL.

SO IT WAS REALLY COOL TO ALL THE CONNECTIONS THAT WERE INVOLVED.

BUT THE KIDS, WHEN THEY FOUND OUT THEY WERE GETTING A SLUMBER KIN THEY WERE SO EXCITED AND A BIG GIANT ROAR AND CHEER WENT UP.

IT WAS, IT WAS REALLY, REALLY FANTASTIC.

SO I JUST WANT TO THANK YOU FOR YOUR PUBLICLY THANKS SLUMBER KINS AND CALLIE AND KELLY FOR THEIR KINDNESS AND GENEROSITY AND FOR BRINGING SO MUCH JOY TO THE STUDENTS AT GLENWOOD AND TO THANK DEB AND THE TEAM OVER THERE, THE FIRST AND SECOND GRADE TEACHERS, I MEAN, THE KINDERGARTEN AND FIRST GRADE TEACHERS FOR ALL THE WORK THAT THEY DO TO SUPPORT KIDS AND LEARNING.

SO THAT WAS MY FIRST ONE.

WOW. THAT'S A GREAT STORY.

YES, INDEED.

THE SECOND THING THAT I WANTED TO TALK TO IS MARK INDICATED THE CAC.

THE CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMITTEE HAS OUR NEXT MEETING ON THURSDAY.

I THINK MARY IS GOING TO ATTEND.

WE HAVE ONE EXTRA SPOT FOR ANOTHER BOARD MEMBER IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE TO ATTEND.

WE CONTINUE TO DO WORK ON THE BOND.

OUR GOAL COMING OUT OF THIS ON THURSDAY IS TO SEE IF WE CAN PUT TOGETHER THE FOUNDATIONS FOR AN INITIAL BOND PACKAGE.

AND SO WE HAVE SPENT THE LAST WE SPENT THE FIRST TIME WE TALKED ABOUT BONDS REALLY LEARNING ABOUT WHAT A BOND IS AND HOW YOU GO ABOUT GETTING IT AND WHAT THE NEEDS ARE.

WE SPENT THE SECOND MEETING IDENTIFYING OUR PRIORITIES AND WHERE WE SHOULD GO.

SO OUT OF THAT WORK, WE ARE NOW GOING TO BE LOOKING AT SOME POTENTIAL PROJECTS AND THE COST OF THOSE PROJECTS THAT COULD BE ASSOCIATED WITH PUTTING TOGETHER A BOND PACKAGE.

I THINK I'M EXCITED ABOUT THIS BECAUSE I, I DO SEE IT JUST LIKE I SAW THE STRATEGIC PLAN BEGIN TO COME TOGETHER. I'M STARTING TO SEE THOSE SAME SIGNS WITH THE BOND PACKAGE THAT WE'RE PUTTING TOGETHER.

OUR IDEA IS THAT IF WE COULD GET AN IDEA FOR THE BOND PACKAGE FROM THE CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMITTEE IN THE UPCOMING MONTH, YOU ALL ARE AWARE THAT WE ARE DOING AN ENROLLMENT REPORT WITH FLOW ANALYTICS.

SO THAT WILL GIVE US SOME ADDITIONAL INFORMATION, ESPECIALLY AS IT PERTAINS TO DO WE NEED ANY NEW SCHOOLS PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE.

BUT WE'RE ALSO WORKING WITH STRATEGIES 360 AND THEY'RE GOING TO BE ROLLING OUT A COMMUNITY SURVEY FOR US IN THE NEXT MONTH, TWO MONTHS.

AND THIS INITIAL BOND PACKAGE WILL AT LEAST BE ABLE TO PUT SOMETHING IN FRONT OF THE VOTERS TO TRY TO GET SOME FEEDBACK.

IT IS OUR HOPE JUST TO GIVE THE BOARD AN IDEA.

WE'RE GOING TO WORK ON THIS, HOPEFULLY GET AN INITIAL BOND PACKAGE AT THE END OF THE CAC MEETING ON THURSDAY.

USE THAT INFORMATION TO HELP US, AS I SAID, WITH THE STRATEGY 360 AND THE ENROLLMENT REPORT OVER THE NEXT TWO MONTHS.

WE ALSO HAVE ALREADY DONE A STAFF PARENT COMMUNITY THOUGHT EXCHANGE ABOUT THE NEEDS OF INDIVIDUAL BUILDINGS.

SO WE'LL BE USING THAT TOO.

WE HOPE TO PUT ALL THIS INFORMATION TOGETHER AT THE END OF MARCH AND BRING IT TO THE BOARD IN APRIL, AT THE SECOND APRIL MEETING AND POTENTIALLY HAVE A WORK SESSION ON BONDS AND ON PARTICULAR WHAT OUR

[00:25:09]

RECOMMENDATION WOULD BE FOR A BOND, IF THAT'S THE DIRECTION WE CHOOSE TO GO MOVING FORWARD.

THAT WOULD GIVE US PLENTY OF TIME BETWEEN APRIL AND NOVEMBER OR FEBRUARY, DEPENDING UPON WHEN WE CHOOSE TO RUN A BOND, TO DO THE LEGWORK AND PUT TOGETHER A CAMPAIGN AND WORK TO PROMOTE IT AND GET IT OUT THERE IN FRONT OF OUR VOTERS AND EDUCATE OUR FAMILIES AND OUR COMMUNITY.

SO THAT IS OUR POTENTIAL PLAN.

ANY QUESTIONS ON WHAT CAC WILL BE WORKING ON? AGAIN, I'D LIKE TO THANK AGAIN PUBLICLY THANK THE CAC MEMBERSHIP.

CONVERSATIONS ARE ALWAYS ENLIGHTENING.

I WAS GOING TO COMMENT.

THANKS. IT FEELS SLOW SOMETIMES TO A BOARD MEMBER WHO HAS BEEN IN BUILDINGS THAT ARE OLD AND NEED TO BE WORKED ON.

BUT I THINK GETTING THE CITIZEN ADVISORY VOICES, THE SURVEY VOICES AND THINGS LIKE THAT IS GOING TO PAY OFF IN THE LONG RUN.

IT FEELS MUCH STRONGER, LIKE THE STRATEGIC PLAN BECAUSE I'VE TAKEN OUR TIME.

THANK YOU, MARK. APPRECIATE THAT FEEDBACK.

AND THEN LAST BUT NOT LEAST, EVERY MONTH WSSDA PUTS OUT POLICY AND LEGAL NEWS.

AND THIS MONTH, ONE OF THE FEATURED VOICES IN HERE OR THE FEATURED POLICIES IN HERE WAS AMPLIFYING THE VOICE OF STUDENT AND SCHOOL BOARD REPRESENTATIVES, ITS POLICY 1250 AND 1250P BUT FEATURED ON THE BACK OF THE OF THIS DOCUMENT WAS OUR VERY OWN STUDENTS SCHOOL BOARD REPRESENTATIVES RICARDO AND SORA.

YOU CAN SEE THEM THERE AND WHICH I THOUGHT WAS REALLY, REALLY COOL IF WE'RE GOING TO BE TALKING ABOUT AMPLIFYING STUDENT VOICE.

THERE'S NO BETTER PEOPLE IN MY MIND THAN YOU GUYS.

AND I APPRECIATE THAT YOU YOU ARE IN THIS.

AND THIS PICTURE OBVIOUSLY WAS TAKEN AT THE LAST CONFERENCE.

I'D LIKE TO SAY THAT I FOUND THE CAMERA FIRST AND THEN PEOPLE WERE LOOKING AT ME WHEN I LOOKED AT THE CAMERA.

WELL, YOU GOT THAT GRIN THERE.

SORA WITH THE THUMBS UP.

I DIDN'T THINK THIS WAS A REAL PICTURE.

I THOUGHT HE WAS HONESTLY PRETENDING TO TAKE THAT PHOTO.

SO THAT'S A SURPRISE.

AND THE FACT THAT THEY USED IT IN THEIR POLICY UPDATE ON THE SECOND PAGE.

THAT'S SO FUNNY. YOU GUYS ARE FAMOUS, AND I JUST THOUGHT I WOULD BRING ATTENTION TO IT, AND IT JUST UNDERLIES THE THE FEELINGS THAT WE HAVE AND HOW MUCH POSITIVES YOU BRING TO US AS SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS.

SO THANK YOU AGAIN.

THANK YOU. AND THAT IS IT FOR ME.

WE HAVE NO TEACHING AND LEARNING REPORT, SO I'M GOING TO TURN IT OVER TO OUR HR DEPARTMENT AND OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, MICHELLE REINHARDT.

GOOD EVENING, BOARD.

GOOD EVENING. IT'S BEEN A WHILE SINCE I'VE GIVEN AN UPDATE SO I DON'T HAVE TOO MUCH TO SHARE.

BUT WE ARE PRETTY, PRETTY BUSY IN HR, SO WE'RE STILL SUPPORTING SCHOOLS AND PRINCIPALS AND STAFF IN A VARIETY OF DIFFERENT SITUATIONS.

WHAT I WANTED TO SHARE WITH YOU AND BRING TO YOUR ATTENTION TONIGHT, WE ARE WE'VE BEEN BUSY PREPARING FOR THE START OF CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS WITH OUR TEACHERS ASSOCIATION WITH BPA, AND SO WE'RE EXCITED TO GET UNDERWAY WITH THAT.

WE ACTUALLY START THIS THURSDAY.

AND SO WHAT THAT'S GOING TO LOOK LIKE, WE'VE STARTED A LITTLE BIT EARLIER WITH THE HOPES OF HOPEFULLY FINISHING EARLIER BEFORE THE SCHOOL YEAR IS OUT.

WE ARE LOOKING AT ABOUT TWO THURSDAYS A MONTH THAT ARE DEDICATED TO TO CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS.

AND SO WE'RE WORKING, WORKING CLOSELY TO GET THOSE SCHEDULED AND WE'RE EXCITED TO GET GET THAT WORK UNDERWAY.

AND WE HOPE TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE YOU SOME UPDATES WITH THAT.

I DID ATTEND A SUPERINTENDENTS MEETING AND WE HAVE MANY DISTRICTS IN THE AREA THAT ARE GOING TO BE BEGINNING NEGOTIATIONS THIS YEAR, WILL BE INVOLVED IN TEACHER NEGOTIATIONS THIS YEAR.

WHEN I MENTIONED THAT OUR ASSOCIATION HAD REACHED OUT TO US AND AND WITH OUR COLLABORATION, WE WERE STARTING THOSE SESSIONS THIS WEEK.

THEY WERE ALL VERY IMPRESSED AND VERY ENVIOUS.

YES, BECAUSE THEY WOULD LIKE TO DO THE SAME TO THAT.

YEAH, WE'RE EXCITED ABOUT THAT DECISION.

SO THE OTHER PIECE THAT WE ARE STARTING SPRING TENDS TO BE A BUSY TIME WITH PLANNING AND PREPPING FOR THE FOLLOWING YEAR IS STARTING TO LOOK AT STAFFING NEEDS AND MAKING SURE THAT WE HAVE MATCHED UP, THAT WE HAVE THE BUDGET TO BE ABLE TO CONTINUE WITH SOME OF THOSE THOSE STAFFING DECISIONS.

[00:30:08]

WE ARE ALSO WITH OUR PSE, WITH OUR CLASSIFIED ASSOCIATION.

WE ARE STARTING OUR PRC PROCESS OR POSITION REVIEW COMMITTEE AND THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WE DO EVERY YEAR AND WE SELECT 4 TO 5 DIFFERENT CLASSIFICATIONS IN THE CLASSIFIED GROUP TO REVIEW POSITIONS AND TO REVIEW JOB DESCRIPTIONS AND TO ENSURE THAT WE ARE OFFERING COMPARABLE SALARIES LOCALLY.

SO WE ARE STARTING THAT PROCESS.

BY THE END OF JANUARY WE'LL BE WE'LL BE UNDERWAY.

SO AND WE CONTINUE TO SUPPORT OUR BUILDINGS IN THE AREA OF MAKING SURE THAT WE HAVE ENOUGH SUBSTITUTES.

WE'RE STILL HIRING AND ONBOARDING SUBS IN BOTH CLASSIFIED AND CERTIFICATED POSITIONS.

WE'RE LOOKING AT ALSO INCLUDING ADMINISTRATIVE SUBS.

SO POSTING THAT AS PEOPLE WITH ADMINISTRATIVE DEGREES CAN ALSO APPLY TO BE A TO BE A SUB.

SO HOPING TO TAP INTO SOME OF OUR RETIRED RETIRED ADMINISTRATORS AND THAT'S ABOUT IT.

THANK YOU. NEXT UP WOULD BE FINANCE.

BUT OUR CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER, MICHELLE SCOTT, IS ATTENDING HOPEFULLY HER LAST CAPITAL FACILITIES PLAN MEETING.

THIS IS FOR CITY OF VANCOUVER.

SO SHE'S THERE TONIGHT AND SHE WILL JOIN US AT THE SECOND MEETING IN JANUARY AND PRESENT TO YOU AN ENROLLMENT REPORT AND UPDATE AT THAT TIME AND AN UPDATE ON HOW THE CAPITAL FACILITIES PLANNING.

SO THAT BRINGS US TO AN OPERATIONS REPORT.

MR. JOLMA. THANK YOU.

NOW WE'RE. WE WERE QUITE BUSY OVER THE.

WE WERE QUITE BUSY OVER THE BREAK.

SORT OF. CHECK.

WAIT A SECOND.

TESTING. ALL RIGHT.

THANK YOU. SO WE GOT GOING ON OUR ENTRY SECURITY PROJECTS.

SECURITY ENTRY WAY PROJECTS THAT CAPTAIN STRONG, GLENWOOD AND PLEASANT VALLEY.

WE INSTALLED THE NEW STOREFRONTS AND ALL THE ELECTRICAL SERVICES FOR THOSE WE ARE ON A WE'RE ON A WAITING FOR OUR FINAL PARTS FOR THE SECURITY SYSTEM.

THEY'RE ALL SET TO ARRIVE ON JANUARY 23RD.

AND THEN THEY'LL BE ALL BE ALL OF THESE WILL BE DONE SHORTLY THEREAFTER, SOMETIME AROUND FEBRUARY 8TH.

I'M LOOKING TO HAVE A BUNCH OF THESE PROJECTS DONE.

DAYBREAK PRIMARY AND MAPLE GROVE START TOMORROW NIGHT AFTER HOURS, 4:00.

AND I PLAN TO HAVE QUITE A FEW OF THESE DONE ON FEBRUARY 8TH.

OVER THE BREAK, WE ALSO HAD QUITE A FEW PROJECTS GOING ON.

DAYBREAK PRIMARY, 400 BUILDING.

WE REPLACED THE HALLWAY FLOORING AS WELL AS TWO ART ROOMS, PRAIRIE HIGH SCHOOL.

WE REPLACED AROUND 600 FEET OF GUTTER AND STARTED TO PUT COVERS OVER ALL THE ENTRYWAYS TO THE DOORS.

IF YOU'VE NOTICED, SINCE 1979, KIDS GET WET WHEN THEY WALK INTO THEIR DOOR AND TRYING TO RESOLVE THAT.

LAST WEEK WE DROPPED DRY BOXES FOR ALL THE AT ALL THE MIDDLE SCHOOL SITES FOR STORAGE OF ALL THEIR MATS AND HURDLES AND AND ALL THE ITEMS ASSOCIATED WITH MIDDLE SCHOOL SPORTS.

AS YOU KNOW, STORAGE IS A PREMIUM FOR US RIGHT NOW.

LAST OUR CAM 3 TO 6 MODULAR THE NEXT ONE THREE MODULES ARE COMPLETE AND IT IS ON SCHEDULE AS I'VE REPORTED IN THE PAST.

AND I'LL HAVE ANOTHER ITEM A LITTLE LATER ON IN THE MEETING.

OKAY. ANY QUESTIONS FOR KEVIN? OH, THANK YOU, KEVIN. THANKS.

BY THE WAY, THE PICTURES OF THE ENTRYWAY, BUT I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO SEE IT IN PERSON.

IT'S REALLY COOL. OH, PRETTY COOL.

SO BASICALLY NOW WHEN YOU WALK THROUGH THOSE DOORS AND YOU ARE TALKING TO THE SECRETARY IN THE FRONT OFFICE, YOU CAN'T GO ANY FURTHER.

THERE'S DOORS THERE THAT BLOCK YOU OFF FROM ENTERING INTO THE REST OF THE SCHOOL BUILDING.

SO IT'S REALLY, REALLY COOL THAT WE'RE GETTING THERE.

YEAH, WE ARE GETTING THERE.

DO WE HAVE THOSE PICTURES WE COULD PUT UP ON THE BOARD IF EVERYBODY HASN'T SEEN THEM? I DON'T KNOW IF THAT'S A QUICK REQUEST, BUT MIGHT TAKE A MINUTE.

[00:35:07]

YEAH, THAT WOULD BE GOOD.

THANKS, SCOTT. THEY'RE JUST REALLY COOL.

I SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF THAT.

THERE'S A POST ON OUR WEBSITE.

THERE'S A COUPLE ON THAT SIDE.

IF YOU IF YOU LOOK AT THIS.

YEAH. SO THIS IS CAPTAIN SHAWN.

SO THERE'S THE MAIN ENTRANCE THAT YOU CAME IN THE DOORS? NO, NO, NO. OTHER WAY.

SO NOW WHEN YOU WALK IN.

SO THIS IS THE MAIN OFFICE RIGHT HERE.

SO THE MAIN OFFICE THERE. SO THESE DOORS CLOSE SO YOU CAN COME IN, BUT YOU CAN'T GET DOWN THE HALLWAY TO THE REST OF THE CLASSES BECAUSE YOU HAVE THE DOORS HERE . YEAH. SO THIS IS THIS IS GLENWOOD AND AGAIN SO MAIN OFFICE HERE.

SO YOU'RE SO YOU'VE ALREADY ENTERED INTO [INAUDIBLE] ALREADY ENTERED IN THE BUILDING.

RIGHT. AND THERE'S, THERE'S ANOTHER DOOR TO THE RIGHT OF THAT AS WELL.

SO ALL OF THIS, THIS GLASS OF THESE IS IS BRAND NEW.

REALLY COOL. WELL, THIS IS THE WAY KEVIN DID THAT.

AND THEN WE HAVE THAT ALSO AT PLEASANT VALLEY PRIMARY SCHOOL, THREE OF THE SCHOOLS MOVING FORWARD.

AND THEN LAST BUT CERTAINLY NOT LEAST, OUR COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR, DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS REPORT.

ALL RIGHT. GOOD EVENING BOARD, GOOD EVENING.

SO I'M GOING TO PULL UP OUR COMMUNICATION SCORECARD FOR THE MONTH OF DECEMBER.

AND IF YOU THINK BACK TO EARLY DECEMBER, WHICH SEEMS LIKE A LONG TIME AGO NOW.

LAST MONTH, A LOT OF OUR COMMUNICATION WAS FOCUSED ON INCLEMENT WEATHER IMPACTS AS WELL AS SOME SAFETY ISSUES THAT WE EXPERIENCED.

TOPICS ALSO INCLUDED THE UPCOMING ONLINE LEARNING CHANGES, WHICH YOU HEARD ABOUT AT THE LAST MEETING, AND EVENTS SUCH AS THE PRAIRIE WINTER CARNIVAL SCHOOL BOARD UPDATES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS TO RECEIVE ADMISSION TO QUALIFYING COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES.

AND ONE OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF LAST MONTH IS THAT WE HAD AN INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF VIEWS OF THE BGPS BULLETIN.

IF YOU'LL GO TO THE SECOND SLIDE.

SO WE'VE BEEN WORKING TO PROMOTE THE UPCOMING INDUSTRY FAIR AND SHOUT OUT TO THE TEAMS FROM BATTLE GROUND AND PRAIRIE HIGH SCHOOLS WHO ARE WORKING HARD TO PUT TOGETHER THIS EVENT. ON THE VERY RIGHT IS A FLYER THAT WAS DESIGNED BY JENNA BUTCHER HILL AND CHRIS BROWN SENT OUT A PRESS RELEASE TO RECRUIT LOCAL EMPLOYERS TO THE EVENT.

SO WE HAVE A SERIES OF ADDITIONAL COMMUNICATIONS PLANNED.

AND IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN COMING BY MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR FEBRUARY 16TH AT 5 P.M.

AT BATTLE GROUND HIGH SCHOOL.

AND I ALSO WANTED TO DO A QUICK SHOUT OUT TO YACOLT PRIMARY.

THEY'VE BEEN WORKING HARD TO POST TO THEIR SCHOOL WEBSITE AND KEEP THEIR FAMILIES ENGAGED AND INFORMED USING THAT TOOL.

SO THE BOTTOM MIDDLE POST IS ONE OF THE RECENT POSTS THAT THEY MADE ON THEIR SITE TO REPORT ON THEIR RECENT FOOD DRIVE, AND THEY'RE DOING A GREAT JOB.

ANY QUESTIONS? [INAUDIBLE] THANK YOU, AMANDA.

AND THAT'S IT FOR US AND SUPERINTENDENT AND STAFF UPDATE.

GREAT. THANK YOU.

[7. Citizens' Comments]

AND THAT BRINGS US TO CITIZENS COMMENTS.

WE DO HAVE ONE CITIZEN SIGNED UP.

AND EUNICE, IF YOU'D LIKE TO COME UP AND SPEAK.

GOOD EVENING. AND I THINK WE ALL KNOW YOU HERE.

BUT FOR THOSE LISTENING MAYBE ONLINE, COULD YOU SAY YOUR NAME? AND THANK YOU.

YOU'RE WELCOME. MY NAME IS EUNICE [INAUDIBLE] AND MY PRONOUNS ARE SHE HER.

I LIVE IN BATTLE GROUND DISTRICT AND I'M HERE TONIGHT TO ENCOURAGE THE SCHOOL DISTRICT TO ADOPT A POLICY OF PROACTIVELY HONORING EVERYONE'S PRONOUNS. THE BOARD AND THE ADMINISTRATION HAS ALREADY WRITTEN POLICIES AND PROCEDURES THAT PROTECT OUR TRANSGENDER AND GENDER EXPANSIVE STUDENTS.

AS DRESS CODE PROCEDURES, HIV POLICY AND PROCEDURE AND NONDISCRIMINATION POLICY AND ACCOMPANYING PROCEDURES,

[00:40:05]

SPECIFICALLY INCLUDING TRANSGENDER AND GENDER EXPANSIVE STUDENTS.

FOR EXAMPLE, PROCEDURE 3210P STATES.

IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EACH SCHOOL, THE DISTRICT, AND ALL THE STAFF TO ENSURE THAT ALL STUDENTS, INCLUDING TRANSGENDER AND GENDER INCLUSIVE STUDENTS, HAVE A SAFE SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT.

COMPLAINTS ALLEGING DISCRIMINATION OR HARASSMENT BASED ON A PERSON'S ACTUAL OR PERCEIVED GENDER IDENTITY OR EXPRESSION ARE TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY AND HANDLED IN THE SAME MANNER AS OTHER DISCRIMINATION OR HARASSMENT COMPLAINTS.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR DOING THIS WORK.

I WOULD LIKE TO SUGGEST THAT YOU GO ONE STEP FURTHER AND ENCOURAGE ALL TEACHERS AND COACHES TO GIVE OPPORTUNITY FOR THEMSELVES AND THE STUDENTS TO INTRODUCE THEIR PRONOUNS AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH TERM.

IF THEY WOULD LIKE TO DO SO, TO MAKE IT EASIER FOR OUR TRANSGENDER AND GENDER EXPANSIVE STUDENTS TO THRIVE IN THE CLASSES AND GROUPS . THIS WILL HELP BUILD A CULTURE OF MUTUAL ACCEPTANCE, KINDNESS, BELONGING, RESPECT AND SUPPORT.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU.

[8. Consent Agenda]

ALL RIGHT. AND MOVING RIGHT ALONG, THAT BRINGS US TO OUR CONSENT AGENDA.

ON OUR CONSENT AGENDA TONIGHT, WE HAVE THE APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES FROM THE DECEMBER 12TH REGULAR MEETING, THE APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES FROM THE DECEMBER 12TH SPECIAL MEETING, BUSINESS AND OPERATIONS REPORTS, PERSONNEL REPORTS AND STUDENT TRAVEL.

IS THERE ANY OF THESE ITEMS THAT SHOULD BE DISCUSSED FURTHER OR REMOVED FROM THE CONSENT AGENDA? ALL RIGHT. WELL, WITH THAT, I WOULD WELCOME A MOTION.

I MOVE THAT WE APPROVE THE CONSENT AGENDA AS PRESENTED TO US.

GREAT. WE HAVE A MOTION ON THE FLOOR.

ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS? ALL THOSE IN FAVOR SAY AYE, AYE.

ALL THOSE OPPOSED.

MOTION PASSES. THREE TO ZERO.

AND I HATE TO PULL OUT ONE PARTICULAR EXAMPLE, BUT I WILL ANYWAY.

I SAW [INAUDIBLE] ON AIR AND 20 YEARS THAT HE GAVE TO THE ROTC PROGRAM HERE AT BATTLE GROUND.

GREATLY APPRECIATE IT.

AND THE OTHERS, THE OTHERS ON THERE AS WELL.

BIG CONTRIBUTORS, BUT HIM IN PARTICULAR.

OKAY. YEAH. THANK YOU FOR SHARING THAT.

ALL RIGHT. WE HAVE NO OLD BUSINESS.

[10. New Business]

WHICH BRINGS US TO OUR NEW BUSINESS.

WE HAVE A FIRST READING OF THE PROPOSED CONTEMPORARY ECONOMICS TEXTBOOK, AND I'D LIKE TO INVITE CINDY ARNOLD UP TO SHARE WITH US ABOUT THAT.

THANK YOU. GOOD EVENING. BOARD.

I'M ASKING FOR SCHOOL BOARD APPROVAL FOR THE FIRST READING OF CONTEMPORARY ECONOMICS FOURTH EDITION BY WILLIAM A.

MCEACHERN. CT ECONOMICS IS A ONE SEMESTER CLASS IN CTE, SO A LOT OF THE OTHER AP ECONOMICS CLASSES ARE FOR A FULL YEAR.

WE HAVEN'T REALLY HAD SECTIONS IN THE LAST FEW YEARS THAT HAVE FILLED, BUT WE'RE STARTING TO GET MORE INTEREST.

AND WITH THAT WE NEEDED TO LOOK AT A NEW TEXTBOOK.

AND WITH THAT, A LOT OF THE TEXTBOOKS ARE FOR LIKE A FULL YEAR, AND WE REALLY WANTED SOMETHING THAT WOULD FIT A SEMESTER.

SO THIS PARTICULAR BOOK IS THE ONE THAT REALLY STOOD OUT TO US AS MEETING OUR STANDARDS AND MEETING OUR STUDENT NEEDS.

SO WE ALSO WENT THROUGH THE IMC PROCESS LAST WEEK FOR THIS BOOK.

AND SO DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? I DON'T KNOW IF I CAN CALL ANY TEXTBOOK STUDENT FRIENDLY, BUT I LIKE THEIR DISPLAY AND IT CAME ACROSS WELL.

I DO HOPE THAT SOME OF THEIR EXAMPLES OF PEOPLE IMPORTANT TO THE ECONOMY HOLD THE TEST OF TIME WE'LL SEE.

WELL, AND I THINK IF YOU READ WHAT THE AUTHORS PURPOSE WAS, I THINK HE HE REALLY HIT IT WHEN HE SAID THAT HE WAS LOOKING FOR SOMETHING THAT KIDS WOULD ENGAGE IN.

I FEEL YES, IT WAS IT WAS A TEXTBOOK FOR TEXTBOOK, ESPECIALLY IN ECONOMICS TEXTBOOK.

I THINK YES, I LIKE THE INSTRUCTIONAL STYLE.

I THINK IT WAS YOU KNOW, IT'LL BE KID FRIENDLY, USER FRIENDLY.

AND I HAVE TO SAY, WITH MARK, ONE OF THE THINGS I NOTICED ABOUT THE MOVERS AND SHAKERS PAGE, WHICH OBVIOUSLY WON'T BE THE MAIN PART OF THE OF THE OF THE INSTRUCTION, AT LEAST THREE OR FOUR OF THOSE PEOPLE WERE GOOGLE EXECUTIVES.

[00:45:05]

AND I'M LIKE, OKAY, WELL, THAT PROBABLY IS A LITTLE BIT ONE SIDED, BUT I REALLY LIKE THE TEXT A LOT AND HOPEFULLY THERE'S AN ONLINE VERSION SO THEY DON'T HAVE TO CARRY THIS AROUND. BUT OTHER THAN THAT, YEAH, REALLY, REALLY A NICE TEXT.

I WAS CURIOUS WHAT OUR STUDENTS THOUGHT.

QUESTION I WAS ABOUT TO SAY THIS.

I WAS CARRYING AROUND THIS IN MY BACKPACK.

MY BACK HURTS, BUT LIKE REVIEWING IT RIGHT NOW.

I REALLY LIKE THE, THE WAY IT'S LIKE THE ASSESSMENT IS FOR THE CHAPTERS BECAUSE IT JUST IT FEELS LIKE IT LOOKS OR IT DOES LOOK LIKE IT'S LIKE VERY ACCESSIBLE AND IT LOOKS LIKE VERY EASY TO JUST LIKE, BE ABLE TO WRITE DOWN STUFF THAT MAKES SENSE.

BUT YEAH, I LIKE THE FORMATTING OF IT.

I THINK IT'S REALLY EASY TO READ.

SO YEAH, I'D LIKE TO ECHO THAT.

IT'S JUST IT REMINDS ME OF LIKE MY TEXTBOOKS THAT ARE MORE CURRENT AND MORE, YOU KNOW, JUST ABSORBABLE.

SO I APPRECIATE THAT.

THANK YOU. I'LL JUST ADD, I LIKE THE REFERENCES TO JAMESTOWN THAT IT TOOK IT ALL THE WAY FROM LIKE BACK.

AND SO I THOUGHT THAT WAS KIND OF A COOL HISTORY PIECE TO ADD TO ECONOMICS SO.

YES, I LOVE THOSE LITTLE ALL THE HISTORY CONNECTIONS THAT EACH IN EACH CHAPTER.

THAT WAS GREAT. HOW LONG? IT IS PROBABLY A QUESTION YOU CAN ANSWER, BUT HOW LONG WOULD WE USE THIS TEXT BEFORE WE'D HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO TO ADOPT AGAIN, TO LOOK AT A NEW TEXT? IT REALLY DEPENDS.

I LOOKED THIS PARTICULAR EDITION IS FROM 2018 AND I CALLED THE COMPANY TO FIND OUT IF THERE'S A CURRENT TEXTBOOK AND THEY SAID THIS IS THE MOST CURRENT.

SO I FEEL LIKE IT'S PROBABLY GOING TO USE IT FOR AS LONG AS WE CAN AND AS LONG AS IT'S APPROPRIATE FOR TIME.

BUT AS TIME CHANGES, WE MIGHT HAVE TO LOOK AT THIS.

SO THAT'S WHAT WE DID THIS TIME.

THE OLD TEXT WAS FROM A LONG TIME AGO AND THERE WERE NO NEW ADDITIONS, SO THAT'S WHY WE WENT TO THIS ONE.

GOOD QUESTION. THANK YOU.

ANY ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS? I CAN MAKE A MOTION.

I MOVE THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS ACCEPT THE FIRST READING OF THE TEXTBOOK CONTEMPORARY ECONOMICS FOURTH EDITION BY WILLIAM A.

MCEACHERN. ALL RIGHT.

WE HAVE A MOTION ON THE FLOOR, BEFORE WE VOTE ON THAT.

ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS? IS THERE GOING TO BE AN ONLINE TEXTBOOK FOR THIS? RIGHT NOW, THERE IS NOT AN ONLINE VERSION THAT I KNOW OF, BUT FOR A LOT OF OUR CLASSES, THE TEXTBOOKS STAY WITHIN THE CLASSROOM.

SO THEY PROBABLY COULD TAKE THEM HOME SOMETIMES, BUT THEY DON'T HAVE TO TAKE THEM HOME ALL THE TIME.

SO YOUR BACK IS SAFE.

ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS? ALL RIGHT. WE HAVE A MOTION ON THE FLOOR TO ACCEPT THE FIRST READING OF THE TEXTBOOK CONTEMPORARY ECONOMICS.

ALL THOSE IN FAVOR SAY AYE, AYE.

ALL THOSE OPPOSED.

MOTION PASSES, THREE TO ZERO.

THANK YOU. A POINT OF ORDER AND A UNANIMOUS VOTE.

DOESN'T HAVE TO COME BACK BECAUSE IT GOES STRAIGHT TO THE CONSENT AGENDA.

IT CAN BE READ.

IT CAN BE. BUT BECAUSE WE'RE MISSING TWO MEMBERS, WHAT'S THE WHAT'S THE PROCEDURE THERE? WE HAVE THE OPTION. WE COULD BRING IT BACK TO THE REGULAR.

AND WITHOUT THOSE TWO MEMBERS THERE TO BRING IT BACK AND PUT IT UNDER OLD BUSINESS FOR A SECOND READING.

I JUST WANTED TO GET YOUR THOUGHTS ON THAT.

YEAH, I THINK THAT MAKES SENSE.

THEY MIGHT WANT TO COMMENT.

RIGHT. AND I DON'T I DON'T WANT THEM TO FEEL LIKE THEY DIDN'T GET A CHANCE BECAUSE THEY HAPPEN TO MISS TODAY.

OKAY. THANK YOU. GOOD IDEA.

THANK YOU. I APPRECIATE THE CLARIFICATION.

BUT CAN WE LEAVE THE BOOK HERE? THANK YOU. ALL RIGHT.

AND NEXT UP, WE HAVE THE APPROVAL OF THE SEWER CONNECTION FEES FOR THE CAM 100 BUILDING MODULAR.

MR. JOLMA. HELLO.

SO THIS IS UNIQUE TO BRING PERMITS TO AS A AS A TO THE BOARD.

IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE WE'VE DONE PROJECTS LARGE ENOUGH TO WARRANT THESE SORTS OF PERMITS.

[00:50:03]

SO IN OUR LARGER PROJECTS, I WOULD HAVE PUT THIS BUNDLED INTO THE ORIGINAL APPROVAL OF THE PROJECT.

HOWEVER, I DIDN'T.

SO BUT WE ARE GOING TO WORK ON THAT FOR IN FUTURE.

AND I'M PROBABLY GOING TO HAVE TO COME TO YOU AGAIN ON THE NEXT MODULAR.

SO THIS IS THE SEWER CONNECTION FEES, WHICH IS WHAT THE WHAT THE CITY DETERMINES IS THE EQUIVALENT IT'S A LONG DRAWN PROCESS, BUT THIS IS HOW THEY DETERMINE HOW MANY KIDS ARE GOING TO BE USE IT.

AND THEY AND THEY THEY BASED IT ON HOW MANY RESIDENTIAL UNITS IT WOULD BE SIMILAR TO.

SO IT'S A WAY THAT THE CITY FORMULATES THEIR THE CONNECTION FEE ITSELF.

THE NEXT MODULAR WILL BE PROBABLY A VERY SIMILAR AMOUNT.

THE THIRD MODULAR WILL BE MUCH SMALLER SINCE IT'S BASED ON THE OCCUPANCY OF THE JUST THE STAFF ALONE WHICH WILL BE IN THAT BUILDING.

SO WE'LL HAVE ONE MORE ABOUT THIS SIZE AND ONE MUCH, MUCH, MUCH SMALLER.

AND AGAIN, THESE FEES ARE BASED ON THE OCCUPANCY OF THE BUILDING.

QUESTIONS. HOW? I'M GOING OFF IN A DIFFERENT DIRECTION.

BUT WE CONNECTED LAUREN UP TO SEWER AND GLENWOOD.

YES. I ASSUME THAT'S BEEN GOING SMOOTHLY.

AND IT HAS.

YEAH. GREAT. SO DO WE HAVE ANY OTHER BUILDINGS ON SEPTIC OR ARE THEY ALL YEAH. WHEN WE WHEN WE STARTED, WE HAD GLEN WOODLAWN PRAIRIE HIGH.

YEAH. I'M GLAD EVERY TIME WE GET RID OF ONE OF THOSE LARGE SYSTEMS, I'M HAPPY.

THANK YOU FOR THE UPDATE.

ANY ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS? HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ON SEWER HOOKUPS? NOT TODAY. MAYBE NEXT TIME.

OKAY.

I MOVE THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS APPROVED THE SEWER CONNECTION FEES FOR THE CAM 100 BUILDING TEN CLASSROOM MODULAR.

ALL RIGHT. WE HAVE A MOTION ON THE FLOOR TO APPROVE THE SEWER CONNECTION FEES FOR THE CAM 100 BUILDING.

ANY LAST QUESTIONS? ALL RIGHT, WELL, WE'LL TAKE IT TO A VOTE.

ALL THOSE IN FAVOR, PLEASE SAY AYE, AYE.

ALL THOSE OPPOSED.

HEARING NONE. MOTION PASSES THREE TO ZERO.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU.

AND THAT BRINGS US TO FUTURE EVENTS.

[11. Future Agenda Items and Board Events]

I THINK WE MENTIONED EARLIER THERE IS A TOUR THIS FRIDAY.

CAC MEETING ON THURSDAY. CAC MEETING ON THURSDAY.

WE HAVE UPCOMING THE LEGISLATIVE CONFERENCE.

WILL YOU REMIND ME THE DATE ON THAT? FEBRUARY 27TH.

OKAY. ANY OTHERS WE NEED TO ADD WE HAVE OUR OUR TOURS, BUT WE ALSO HAVE A WORK SESSION NEXT.

OUR NEXT MEETING STARTS WITH A WORK SESSION AT FOUR.

IS THAT RIGHT? YES.

YES. WE'LL HAVE OUR SIT DOWN WILL BE THE SECOND PART OF OUR PRESENTATION AND WE WILL BE PROVIDING DINNER THAT NIGHT.

WE HAVE A A NICE, TASTY SURPRISE.

AND THEN WE WILL ALSO HAVE AN EXECUTIVE SESSION AFTER THAT MEETING.

SO TAKE A LOOK AT THE CLOCK AS YOU GO OUT TONIGHT AND THEN AVERAGE IT WITH NEXT WEEK.

THAT'LL BE NORMAL. THIS WILL BE AN HOUR AND NEXT WEEK.

OR THE NEXT MEETING WILL BE PROBABLY OVER FOUR.

SO THERE YOU GO.

AND THEN FEEL FREE TO STOP BY PRAIRIE HIGH SCHOOL FOR THE MOCK ASSEMBLY.

KNOW, BUT I THINK IT'S LIKE SOMEWHERE AROUND 8:40.

[INAUDIBLE] JACKIE, MARK AND I WILL BE DOING A BOARD TOUR THAT DAY, BUT PERHAPS OTHER MEMBERS AND [INAUDIBLE] IS GOING TO TRY TO MAKE IT. BUT I'LL CHECK. I DON'T WANT YOU TO THINK WE'RE BLOWING YOU OFF, BUT NO, I'LL BE ACTUALLY REALLY OFFENDED.

LIKE, THERE'S GOING TO BE TEARS.

I EXPECT AN APOLOGY VIDEO.

I WAS GOING TO HANDWRITE A NOTE FOR YOU.

I WOULD LOVE TO BE THERE BECAUSE I WAS SO IMPRESSED WITH THE LAST ASSEMBLY YOU GUYS DID ON VETERAN'S DAY.

IT WAS GREAT. WE'RE HAPPY TO HAVE LIKE MORE CLUBS TO BE INVOLVED IN ALL THESE ASSEMBLIES.

[00:55:02]

SO THAT'S WHAT OUR GOAL WAS, I'LL SEE.

ALL RIGHT. WELL, BEFORE SOMEBODY BRINGS UP SOMEBODY, SOMETHING ELSE, I'M GOING TO CALL THIS MEETING TO CLOSE AT 6:55.

THANK YOU.
