FOR THOSE WHO ARE VETERANS OF THE MEETING, WE HAVE A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT ORDER THAT WILL TAKE US A LITTLE LONGER AT THE START.

ANOTHER ONE THAT'S UNIQUE TO THIS MEETING IS OUR ANNUAL ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING, OUR ANNUAL ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING IS GOVERNED BY POLICY 12 10, WHICH SAYS THAT AFTER THE LAST ELECTION IN THE FIRST MEETING OF DECEMBER THAT WE ELECT OFFICERS FOR THIS PARTICULAR ONE, WE HAVE THREE ELECTED OFFICERS THE PRESIDENT, THE VICE PRESIDENT AND THE LEGISLATIVE REPRESENTATIVE.

THE LEGISLATIVE REPRESENTATIVE IS ONLY ELECTED ON EVEN NUMBERED YEARS, SO THAT WOULD LEAVE OUR CURRENT LEGISLATIVE REPRESENTATIVE DIRECTOR HENRIKSON IN THAT POSITION.

AND HE AND I KIND OF SHARE THAT POSITION, BUT HE'S THE OFFICIAL ELECTED PERSON.

SO NEXT UP IS THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT, AND I'LL COVER THAT POLICY, I HOPE YOU'LL BEAR WITH ME TONIGHT.

I'M GOING TO READ A FEW OF THE ACTUAL POLICIES AS HAVING A NEW MEMBER TO REFER TO THE POLICY MANUAL AND SAY, WHY IS IT WE DO SOME OF THE THINGS WE DO, THE WAY WE DO THEM? WE HAVE ADVISER AMY PACE, AND THEN EACH OF YOU WILL HELP BY INTRODUCING YOURSELVES, RIGHT? GREAT.

YEAH, THAT WOULD BE GREAT.

I'M [INAUDIBLE], I AM THE SECOND VICE PRESIDENT OF PLEASANT VALLEY MIDDLE SCHOOL.

AND YEAH, SO DO I JUST GET STARTED.

UH, ONE ACTIVITY THAT WE ARE CURRENTLY IN THE MIDDLE OF IS OUR ANNUAL FOOD DRIVE.

GO AHEAD.

TRY TO STEP UP TO THE WHERE EVERYBODY BRINGS IN FOOD AND IT IS MAINLY BEING DONATED TO THE NORTH COUNTY FOOD BANK.

BUT WE DO HAVE A COUPLE THAT IS BEING DONATED TO FAMILIES IN NEED THAT ARE IN OUR SCHOOL, SO THAT'S WHAT WE'RE DOING NOW.

THIS FRIDAY, WE'RE DOING THE RED AND GREEN GAMES BY GRADE LEVEL, WHICH IS WHERE DURING SORRY, UM, DURING OUR ELECTIVE TIMES, WE PRETTY MUCH JUST HAVE A BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT.

AND IT'S PRETTY MUCH JUST A WAY FOR US TO HAVE FUN AND SEE EACH OTHER MORE.

SINCE COVID, WE DON'T REALLY GET TO SEE EACH OTHER THAT MUCH.

AND WE'VE ALWAYS DONE IT, BUT NOT BY GRADE LEVEL.

SO, YEAH, THAT'S WHAT WE'RE DOING.

I'M LAUREN [INAUDIBLE], AND I'M THE CORRESPONDING SECRETARY.

AND ANOTHER THING THAT WE'VE DONE IS THE VETERANS DAY ASSEMBLY, EXCEPT WE DID IT VIRTUALLY THIS YEAR BECAUSE OF COVID.

SO WE MADE A VIDEO AND WE HAD THE BAND PERFORM AND WE HAD A GUEST SPEAKER COME IN.

AND SO THEY SHOWED IT DURING ADVISORY ON WEDNESDAY.

AND THEN ANOTHER THING THAT WE'RE GOING TO THAT WE DID DO WAS THE POPCORN FUNDRAISER.

AND SO WE RAISED FOR ABOUT $4,000 THIS YEAR AND COMPARED TO LAST YEAR, IT WAS ONLY $500.

SO IT'S A LOT BETTER THIS YEAR.

AND YEAH, ALL THAT MONEY GOES TO ASB.

UH, UPCOMING ACTIVITIES INCLUDE ACTIVITY BY GRADE LEVEL WHERE AFTER SCHOOL THE GRADE LEVEL GOES AND PLAYS SPORTS IN GAMES INSIDE OF THE INSIDE THE GYM.

AND THEN ANOTHER UPCOMING ACTIVITIES IS THE COLOR RUN.

HOW LONG DOES THE FOOD DRIVE LAST? UM, IT LASTED ALL THROUGH LAST WEEK AND UNTIL WEDNESDAY, SO THAT'S EIGHT DAYS.

SO YEAH.

ARE YOU DOING COMPETITION? YES, WE HAVE BONUS ITEMS FOR EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK.

SO JUST TO ENCOURAGE ALL THE KIDS TO REALLY BRING STUFF BECAUSE THE BONUS ITEMS ARE WORTH FIVE POINTS WHILE OTHER ONES ARE JUST WORTH ONE POINT.

SO WE'RE HAVING A COMPETITION.

AND RIGHT NOW, THE FIFTH GRADE HAS CHALLENGED THE REST OF THE GRADES TO GET THE MOST POINTS.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU MEET AS ASB? WE MEET ONCE A MONTH.

IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU CAN GET A LOT DONE IN THAT ONCE A MONTH MEETING, SO THAT'S GREAT.

THERE'S ABOUT 27 OF THEM SO.

THIS IS ONE THAT KIND OF JUMPED OUT AT ME THAT GOES ALONG WITH THEIR REQUESTS THAT WE'LL PROBABLY PROBABLY BE TAKING TO THE LEGISLATURE.

THIS REALLY BRINGS HOME THE POINT THAT EVEN THOUGH WE SAY WE FULLY FUND EDUCATION AT THE STATE LEVEL, THERE'S SOME CAVEATS TO THAT BECAUSE IT BASICALLY SAYS YOU DON'T GET A SCHOOL NURSE UNLESS YOU FUND IT LOCALLY.

AND SO THAT IS GOING TO BE ACCORDING TO ALL THREE OF THE EDUCATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS THE SUPERINTENDENTS ASSOCIATION, THE SCHOOL DIRECTORS ASSOCIATION AND THE BUSINESS LEADERS ASSOCIATION HAS SAID.

WE FEEL LIKE THIS IS ONE THAT COULD BE LOW HANGING FRUIT AND THAT IT'D BE POSSIBLE TO ACTUALLY PROVIDE A REASONABLE NUMBER.

NOW WHAT WHAT THEY MIGHT GET OUT OF THAT, I'M NOT SURE, BUT IT'S NICE TO SEE KIND OF A UNITED FRONT.

YOU CAN SEE THE NUMBER OF PSYCHOLOGISTS IS EVEN GREATER.

THE ODDITY THAT THEY USE ON THIS ONE FOR A PSYCHOLOGIST AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL, YOU WOULD NEED 216,000 STUDENTS IN YOUR SCHOOL.

AND I THINK THEY BASICALLY SAID THERE'S NOT EVEN THAT MANY MIDDLE SCHOOLERS IN THE WHOLE STATE.

SO ESSENTIALLY YOU COULD MAYBE HAVE ONE FOR THE WHOLE STATE.

AND I WAS HIGHLY IMPRESSED WITH THE OVERSIGHT THAT THEY HAD AND THE MECHANISMS THAT THEY PUT IN PLACE TO TRACK THE KIDS PERFORMANCE AND THE TEACHER'S PERFORMANCE AND HOW TO IDENTIFY WHEN INTERVENTION IS NEEDED I WAS QUITE IMPRESSED WITH THAT.

IN FACT, I THINK I EVEN BROUGHT IT UP AT THE CITIZEN'S ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING AS A WAY TO MAYBE INTEGRATE THAT INTO SOME OF THE OTHER SCHOOLS.

SO AGAIN, I WAS HIGHLY IMPRESSED.

AND THEN AT THE TOUR, ACTUALLY, WE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO MEET WITH THE SUPERINTENDENT WATERS.

THEY WERE PRESENTING THEM THE FOOD DRIVE.

IMPRESSIVE YOUNG FIFTH GRADERS HAD ASSEMBLED OVER A THOUSAND CANS IN A FOUR DAY PERIOD, JUST ROAMING THE HALLS AND BEATING THE DRUMS, GETTING THAT SO KUDOS TO THEM.

THERE WAS SOME GOOD WORK THERE.

JUST SO YOU'RE AWARE THAT THEY THEY FINISHED WITH OVER 3,000 CANS.

WE WERE THERE AND THEY WERE HOPING THEY ONLY HAD A FEW DAYS LEFT AND THEY WERE HOPING TO GET THE 1,500.

AS I MENTIONED EARLIER, EVERYTHING HE SPOKE ABOUT IN HIS PRESENTATION THIS EVENING OR THIS AFTERNOON, WE GOT TO SEE FIRSTHAND FROM GOING FROM CLASSROOM TO CLASSROOM AND SEEING THE CONSISTENCY IN WHAT THEY WERE LEARNING TO SEEING ONE OF THE STUDENTS WASN'T DOING WHAT THE REST OF THE CLASS WAS DOING, AND I INQUIRED WHY, AND THEY SAID THIS IS THEIR INTERVENTION.

HE KNEW HE WAS STRUGGLING AND HE NEEDED A DIFFERENT HE NEEDED A QUIET PLACE TO BE, AND HE KNEW HE COULD GO THERE AND THAT WAS HIS SAFE PLACE.

AND SO THEM JUST WORKING WITH HIM TO HELP HIM SOLVE AND MAINTAIN ABILITY TO STAY IN SCHOOL AND NOT JUST GET SUSPENDED OR BE DISCIPLINED FOR HIS ACTIONS, BUT TO WORK WITH HIM AND SHOW HIM ALTERNATIVES.

AND IT WAS JUST IT WAS JUST SO IMPRESSIVE THE WHOLE THING.

WE GOT TO SEE THE ART CLASS AND THAT WAS AMAZING AS WELL.

IT WAS JUST IT WAS JUST A GREAT DAY.

OH, AND THERE WAS A DESSERT BOX AND THEY TOLD US RIGHT AS WE LEFT THE CLASSROOM AND WE DIDN'T GET ANY DESSERT.

I WOULD I WOULD ECHO IT WAS A GREAT TOUR, ONE OF THE THINGS THAT JUST MADE ME VERY HAPPY TO SEE.

YOU CAN TELL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORK THAT THE PLC WORK, THE PROFESSIONAL WORK THAT TEACHERS ARE DOING TOGETHER IS MAKING SUCH A HUGE DIFFERENCE.

WHAT YOU SEE NOW VERSUS A NUMBER OF YEARS AGO GOING ON IN CLASSROOMS IS THAT CONSISTENCY FROM ONE PLACE TO ANOTHER.

IT JUST FEELS SO GOOD TO SEE THAT BECAUSE IT DOESN'T MEAN THAT IT'S GOING TO BE DIFFERENT FOR A STUDENT, A FOURTH GRADE STUDENT IN ONE CLASS VERSUS ANOTHER.

HOW TEACHERS ARE TEACHING, OF COURSE, IS DIFFERENT, BUT IT'S NICE TO SEE THEM TEACHING THE SAME CONTENT SO STUDENTS HAVE EQUAL ACCESS TO TO THE CURRICULUM AND THE CONTENT ACROSS THE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT.

SO THAT WAS REASSURING.

OBVIOUSLY, THE ENVIRONMENT THAT'S CREATED THERE.

AS THE DIRECTOR WHO'S UP THERE OFTEN, BUT DIDN'T GO ON THAT ONE OFFICIALLY, I'D LIKE TO HEAR FROM THE PEOPLE WHO WENT ABOUT THE FACILITIES THEMSELVES.

ANY COMMENTS ON THE FACILITY? YEAH, I I'D COMMENT THAT, YOU KNOW, GIVEN THE AGE OF THE BUILDING, I WAS ACTUALLY QUITE IMPRESSED WITH THE WAY THEY WERE MAKING USE OF IT AND UTILIZING THE SPACES THAT THEY DID HAVE.

THEY CERTAINLY ARE CHALLENGED IN THEIR STORAGE SPACE AND THEY HAVE, YOU KNOW, FILE CABINETS IN THE HALLWAYS AND THINGS LIKE THAT.

BUT AGAIN, THEY'RE MAKING THE BEST USE, I THINK THEY CAN OF THAT AND THE CONSTRAINTS THAT THEY HAVE.

AND CERTAINLY, YOU KNOW, THE COVID SITUATION THAT DIDN'T MAKE IT ANY EASIER FOR THEM, THEY'VE HAD TO ADJUST WITH, YOU KNOW, THERE A LOT OF THEIR ATHLETICS HAD TO SUFFER, YOU KNOW, YOUR PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASSES AND STUFF.

AND THEY'VE HAD TO MAKE DO BY PUTTING SOME OF THOSE CLASSES IN DIFFERENT ROOMS AND COMING UP WITH DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES TO TRY TO MAINTAIN THAT, THAT CORE WORK.

SO I APPLAUD THEM FOR THEIR EFFORTS.

AND THE SOONER WE CAN GET THAT BEHIND US, THE BETTER SO THEY CAN GO BACK TO UTILIZING THE REST OF IT NORMALLY.

IT'S NOT FANCY, IT DOESN'T SPARKLE, BUT IT'S NOT IN DISARRAY.

SO IT'S JUST IT WAS A NICE RETURN AND IT LOOKS THE SAME AS IS WHEN MY YOUNGEST WENT THERE.

SO THREE WEEKS FROM 11-22 TO 12-10 TOTAL CONFIRMED CASES.

SO THEY EXPECT IT TO CONTINUE TO TREND UPWARD WITH OBVIOUS CONCERNS OVER THE THE TRANSMISSION RATES ASSOCIATED WITH THE NEW OMICRON VARIANT.

THE GOOD NEWS WITH THE OMICRON VARIANT IS IT DOES SEEM TO INDICATE THAT THE INDIVIDUALS WHO GET IT ARE IT IS LESS POTENT.

ONE OF THE THINGS AND I APPRECIATE IT'S LIKE TED WAS READING MY MIND BECAUSE HE BROUGHT UP THREE POINTS THAT I I WANTED TO BRING UP.

IT WAS NEVER OUR THOUGHT THAT THIS WOULD BE A YEAR LONG PROCESS FOR US, BUT IT DOESN'T APPEAR TO BE CHANGING ANY TIME SOON.

THE SIX FOOT DISTANCING AT LUNCH IS NOT REQUIRED.

AND THAT'S THE CAVEAT THERE, SO WE COULD AND WE ACTUALLY STARTED THE YEAR WITH THE THREE FOOT DISTANCING, HOWEVER, WE WERE IDENTIFYING SO MANY CLOSE CONTACTS.

THEY'RE NOT BEING USED.

I MEAN, THEY PROBABLY HAD 80 SEATS THAT THEY COULD SIT STUDENTS IN THOSE TENTS.

WE PROVIDED THEM WITH COPIES OF OUR CURRENT STRATEGIC PLAN, BUT ALSO COPIES OF NINE OTHER STRATEGIC PLANS FROM AMONG VARIOUS DISTRICTS IN THE STATE, INCLUDING SOME THAT WERE LOCAL CAMUS, VANCOUVER, KELSO, THOSE.

AND SO THEY GOT A GOOD CROSS-SECTION AND THEY WERE THERE COMPARING THE FOCUS AREAS OR THE GOAL AREAS AND LOOKING TO IDENTIFY POTENTIALLY OTHER TOPICS.

THE CONVERSATION WAS OUTSTANDING.

WE DIDN'T HAVE A LOT OF TIME TO TO TO DO THE WORK.

AND I THINK IF WE'RE GOING TO BE SUCCESSFUL AND WE'RE REALLY GOING TO LOOK AT IT AND DO THE RIGHT THING, THAT PUTTING TOGETHER A COMMITTEE LIKE THIS WOULD BE IMPORTANT.

AND I THINK THAT, YOU KNOW, BEFORE WE ASSEMBLE THAT CLEARLY IDENTIFYING WHAT THAT BODY IS GOING TO LOOK LIKE AND GETTING AN AGREEANCE ON THAT IS THE FIRST STEP.

AND THEN WE CAN, YOU KNOW, POPULATE THAT COMMITTEE AND START SETTING THOSE STRATEGIC GOALS.

DO YOU FEEL LIKE OTHER SCHOOL DISTRICTS THAT MIGHT BE IMPACTED BY THIS ARE STILL AWARE OF THIS OR WOULD THIS BE NEWS TO THEM? NO, I THINK THAT THEY RECOGNIZE WHAT OUR CONCERNS ARE AND THAT THOSE CONCERNS HAVEN'T GONE AWAY SINCE THE PREVIOUS ASK.

AND I DON'T THINK THAT WE'RE ALONE IN THIS SITUATION.

I THINK THERE ARE OTHER DISTRICTS THAT ARE NOT NECESSARILY HERE IN SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON, BUT IT IS AN ESTABLISHED PROCESS ALL ACROSS THE STATE.

WOULD IT BE WORTH REACHING OUT TO SOME OF THE OTHER SCHOOLS WHO HAVE DROPPED DOWN TO SEE HOW THEIR PROCESS WENT? EXACTLY, YEAH.

WE ARE AT THE LOWEST ONE OF THE LOWEST DISTRICTS IN TERMS OF OFFERING A SUB RATE.

AND SO WE REALLY FEEL THAT THE THE RATES THAT WE THAT WE HAVE PUT FORTH REALLY, TRULY MAKE US RIGHT THEIR AVERAGE SLIGHTLY ABOVE, BUT OUR RIGHT IN LINE WITH WHAT THE OTHER DISTRICTS ARE OFFERING.

IN ADDITION, JANUARY ONE, WE ARE GOING TO SEE AN INCREASE IN MINIMUM WAGE.

WE WRAPPED UP THE END OF THE 2021 SCHOOL YEAR AND SO NOW WE'RE JUST GETTING THOSE READY AND PREPARED FOR YOU TO FOR YOUR APPROVAL OF THOSE AT THE NEXT BOARD MEETING.

WE'LL ALSO JUST A REMINDER, HAVE A BUDGET EXTENSION AND FOR THE LEVY PASSAGE, AND THAT WILL BE INCLUDING A PUBLIC BUDGET HEARING AS WELL AS THE APPROVAL OF THAT RESOLUTION AT OUR NEXT MEETING.

AND THEN FOR TONIGHT, I'VE JUST PREPARED A SHORT ENROLLMENT UPDATE ENROLLMENT SO IMPORTANT TO OUR FUNDING AS A AS A DISTRICT.

AND SO IT'S IT'S IMPORTANT THAT I UPDATE YOU.

THIS IS OUR SECOND UPDATE FOR THE YEAR.

SO SOME OF THIS INFORMATION IS KIND OF NOT SO NEW, BUT IT'S ALWAYS GOOD TO JUST TAKE A REVIEW OF IT.

AND SO THE FIRST THING THIS IS A VERY THE MOST IMPORTANT SLIDE IS FTE, BECAUSE THAT'S HOW WE'RE TRULY IS BASED.

OUR BASIC ED FUNDING IS BASED ON THE ANNUAL AVERAGE FULL TIME AND EQUIVALENT OF A STUDENT.

WE BUDGETED AT ELEVEN THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED AND FIFTY NINE, SO WE'RE JUST A LITTLE TOUCH UNDER BUDGET.

WHAT I WANT TO POINT OUT TO YOU ON THIS SLIDE HERE ALSO IS THAT YOU CAN SEE WHERE WE STARTED OUT AT ELEVEN THOUSAND FOUR SEVENTY TWO AND WE'VE KIND OF HAD A FEW LITTLE BIT OF A DROP DOWN.

IT'S JUST KIND OF SLIGHTLY.

SO HOPEFULLY, YOU KNOW, IT WON'T CONTINUE THAT WAY.

AND THIS IS JUST A HEAD COUNT SLIDE, IT'S JUST IT KIND OF TRENDS LIKE THE FTE AND WE ALWAYS INCLUDE THOSE.

BUT WE'RE LOOKING AT THE PROGRAM AND HOW WE CAN DO ANYTHING THAT WE CAN TO KIND OF MITIGATE SOME OF THAT LOSS FROM THAT ENROLLMENT FOR SPED.

AND OUR TRENDS ARE TRANSITIONAL BILINGUAL PROGRAM IS ON TARGET.

AND THEN OUR RUNNING START IS A PASS THROUGH.

SO EVEN IF WE BUDGETED FIVE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FOR THAT, IT'S THE MONEY'S COMING IN AND IT'S GOING DIRECTLY OUT TO CLARK COLLEGE.

YOU HEARD ABOUT LAURIN AND PRAIRIE HIGH SCHOOL AND GLENWOOD.

WE ALSO HAD DRIVES AT DAYBREAK AND TUKES VALLEY AND CAPTAIN STRONG AND SEVERAL OF OUR SCHOOLS, SO THEY'RE ALL DOING A LOT OF GOOD WORK FOR OUR COMMUNITY.

THE OTHER THING I WANTED TO SHARE IS THE IQ CREDIT UNION GAVE A $1,000 GIFT TO OUR FAMILY COMMUNITY RESEARCH CENTER LAST WEEK, AND THEY TURNED IT INTO A FUN SHOPPING SPREE EVENT AND THEY WERE ABLE TO RUN AROUND THE STORE AND GET HIGH DEMAND ITEMS THAT THEY NEED THAT OUR STUDENTS AND FAMILIES NEED, SUCH AS TOILETRIES THAT THEY DON'T USUALLY GET DONATED.

SO THAT WAS REALLY AWESOME, AND WE APPRECIATE THAT.

AND THEN ALSO IN THE NEWS, CASEY OUR CASEY PROGRAM WAS RECOGNIZED BY CLARK COUNTY GREEN SCHOOLS FOR ITS NO WASTE NOVEMBER EVENT, WHERE THEY STUDY THE PRINCIPLES OF WASTE REDUCTION AND THEY DEMONSTRATE THE IMPACTS THAT OUR ACTIONS HAVE ON THE ENVIRONMENT.

AND SO THAT'S A REALLY COOL PROGRAM.

AND ANOTHER THING I WANT TO SHARE IS THAT BATTLE GROUND HIGH SCHOOL OR TWO BATTLE GROUND HIGH SCHOOL ROTC CADETS WERE SELECTED TO ATTEND A PRIVATE PILOT CERTIFICATE TRAINING PROGRAM.

IT'S A SCHOLARSHIP THAT'S WORTH A LITTLE MORE THAN TWENTY TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS, AND SOPHOMORE [INAUDIBLE] HARP WAS ONE OF THOSE STUDENTS THAT WAS SELECTED.

AND IT'S REALLY A COOL PROGRAM, AND IT'S IMPRESSIVE THAT SINCE 2018, 10 OF OUR VETERAN OR 10 OF OUR ROTC STUDENTS HAVE BEEN SELECTED FOR THAT PROGRAM.

AND IN THE LAST THING I WANT TO POINT OUT IS THAT THE WEATHER IS GETTING A LITTLE CHILLIER THIS WEEK.

SO I JUST WANT TO LET YOU KNOW THAT WE ARE ALL WATCHING SPEAKERS].

OR FRANKLY, SOMETIMES THEY JUST DON'T CARE TO HEAR ALL THE INFORMATION WE THINK WE NEED TO TELL THEM AT THE TIME.

I GET THAT FROM MY KIDS ALL THE TIME.

I FOUND THIS ADVICE SO HELPFUL WHEN MY KIDS HAD BIG QUESTIONS ON SUBJECTS THAT I WASN'T SURE THEY WERE FULLY READY TO DELVE INTO AND UNDERSTAND AND GET ALL THE INFORMATION.

ONE EXAMPLE I COULD THINK OF THAT COMES TO MY MIND WAS WHEN MY ONE OF MY DAUGHTERS WAS VERY YOUNG AND SHE ASKED, WHY DO BOYS STAND UP TO PEE? AND I THOUGHT, OH GREAT, THIS IS AN INTERESTING QUESTION.

SO I THOUGHT, I'M GOING TO ANSWER THIS AS SIMPLE AS POSSIBLE.

AND I JUST SAID, BOYS HAVE DIFFERENT BODY PARTS THAN GIRLS FOR GOING TO THE BATHROOM, AND THAT'S WHY THEY STAND UP TO PEE.

THEY HAVE PARTS THAT ARE EASIER FOR THEM TO STAND WHILE GIRLS HAVE PARTS THAT ARE EASIER TO SIT.

AND AT THE TIME, I FULLY EXPECTED HER NEXT QUESTION TO BE SOMETHING LIKE, WELL, WHAT ARE BOYS PARTS LIKE? BUT TO MY SURPRISE, MY ORIGINAL ANSWER TOTALLY SATISFIED HER CURIOSITY AT THAT TIME, AND WE WERE ABLE TO HAVE MORE IN-DEPTH CONVERSATION AT A LATER DATE AS THINGS CAME UP AND HER COMFORT LEVEL.

I THINK THE SAME ADVICE COULD BE CONSIDERED WITH OUR CSE CURRICULUM CHOICE .

NO SIDE OF THE DEBATE WILL BE COMPLETELY HAPPY WITH ANY CHOICE, SO WE MUST FIND A WAY TO MEET IN THE MIDDLE.

I BELIEVE WE CAN FIND A CURRICULUM THAT SATISFIES THE STATE RULES, BUT DOESN'T HAVE TO GO BEYOND THAT OR INTO UNNECESSARILY DEPTH OF DETAILS THAT MAY BE NOT THE BEST FOR ALL STUDENTS TO KNOW.

MAYBE WE CAN FIND SOMETHING THAT WILL SIMPLY ANSWER THE QUESTIONS OR STANDARDS BY THE STATE AND LET THE DEEPER, MORE DETAILED DISCUSSIONS HAPPEN AT HOME BY PARENTS OR WHEN STUDENTS ASK, 30 SECONDS, QUESTIONS.

AS MUCH AS SOME PEOPLE FEEL STUDENTS ARE HARMED IF THEY DON'T HAVE ALL THE INFORMATION.

I ALSO KNOW THAT SOME KIDS ARE HARMED WITH TOO MUCH INFORMATION THEY ARE NOT READY FOR.

WHAT THEY ARE DOING IS THAT ONCE AN ADOPTION HAS BEEN COMPLETED AND AS ALISON POINTED OUT, THEY'RE GOING BACK TO MAKE SURE THAT THE PROCESS FOR DOING THAT PARTICULAR CURRICULUM ADOPTION WAS FOLLOWED AND THAT ALL THE STEPS WERE COMPLETED.

SO I THINK THAT'S ONE OF THE REASONS WHY IT WAS IMPORTANT FOR US TO PUT THIS THIS ITEM RATHER THAN PUT IT IN THE CONSENT AGENDA TO HAVE IT AS NEW BUSINESS SO THAT WE COULD MAKE THAT CLARIFICATION FOR ANYBODY WHO MIGHT BE JOINING IN OR WATCHING OR IS CONFUSED ABOUT THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO.
